Observations of the Markarian galaxy Mrk421 were carried out in 2002 with the Cherenkov gamma ray telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Analysis of the data indicated an excess of very-high-energy photons in the direction of Mrk421. The mean flux over the observing period was 1.55 Crab (E > 1 TeV), with a statistical confidence level of 4.6σ. A flare with a flux of ≈2.4 Crab was detected during the observing period.  相似文献

The active galactic nucleus BL Lac was observed with the GT-48 atmospheric Cherenkov detector of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory from July 23–September 1, 1998, in order to search for ultrahighenergy gamma-ray (>1 TeV) emission. The object was in the field of view of the detector for more than 24 hours. The source was detected with a high level of confidence (7.2 σ) with a flux equal to (2.1±0.4)×10?11 photons cm?2 s?1.  相似文献

Observations of the blazar H 1426+428 were carried with on the GT-48 Cerenkov telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory from April 15 to April 25, 2004. Analysis of the observational data shows an excess of very-high-energy photons (≥1 TeV) in the direction of the source, with a statistical confidence of 5.8 σ. Extraterrestrial gamma-ray astronomy is now a source of a new knowledge in the fields of astrophysics, cosmic-ray physics, and the nature of dark matter. The next absolutely necessary step in the development of extraterrestrial high-energy gamma-ray astronomy is the improvement of the physical and technical characteristics of gamma-ray telescopes, especially their angular and energy resolutions. Such a new generation telescope will be GAMMA-400, currently under development. Together with an X-ray telescope, it will perform precise and detailed observations in the energy range of ~20 MeV to ~10 000 GeV and 3–30 keV the Galactic plane, especially, toward the Galactic Center, Fermi Bubbles, Crab, Cygnus, etc. The GAMMA-400 will operate in the highly elliptic orbit continuously for a long time with the unprecedented angular (~0.01? at Eγ = 100 GeV) and energy (~1% at Eγ = 100 GeV) resolutions, exceeding the Fermi-LAT as well as ground-based gamma-ray telescopes by a factor of 5–10. GAMMA-400 will permit resolving gamma rays from annihilation or decay of dark matter particles, identifyingmany discrete sources (many of which are variable), clarifying the structure of extended sources, specifying the data on the diffuse emission, as well as measuring electron + positron fluxes and specifying electron + positron spectrum in the energy range from 1 GeV to 10 000 GeV.  相似文献

The paper presents an analysis of dual-polarization observations of the Crab pulsar obtained on the 64-m Kalyazin radio telescope at 600 MHz with a time resolution of 250 ns. A lower limit for the intensities of giant pulses is estimated by assuming that the pulsar radio emission in the main pulse and interpulse consists entirely of giant radio pulses; this yields estimates of 100 and 35 Jy for the peak flux densities of giant pulses arising in the main pulse and interpulse, respectively. This assumes that the normal radio emission of the pulse occurs in the precursor pulse. In this case, the longitudes of the giant radio pulses relative to the profile of the normal radio emission turn out to be the same for the Crab pulsar and the millisecond pulsar B1937+21, namely, the giant pulses arise at the trailing edge of the profile of the normal radio emission. Analysis of the distribution of the degree of circular polarization for the giant pulses suggests that they can consist of a random mixture of nanopulses with 100% circular polarization of either sign, with, on average, hundreds of such nanopulses within a single giant pulse.  相似文献

Radio flux measurements of the Crab nebula have been performed over many years relative to Orion A at 927 MHz and relative to Cygnus A and Virgo A at 151.5 MHz. The inferred average secular rates of decrease in the radio flux of the Crab nebula are d 927 MHz = ?0.18 ± 0.10% yr?1 over 1977–2000 and d 151.5 MHz = ?0.3 ± 0.1% yr?1 over 1980–2003. The weighted mean flux-decrease rate averaged over several years of relative measurements at 86, 151.5, 927, and 8000 MHz is d mw = ?0.17 ± 0.02% yr?1. The secular flux decrease is frequency independent, with an upper limit of |dα/dt| < 3 × 10?4 yr?1 for the absolute value of the rate of change of the spectral index, and remains constant in time when averaged over long time intervals. The results of our measurements at 151.5 and 927 MHz combined with published absolute measurements at 81.5 and 8250 MHz are used to determine the radio spectrum of the Crab nebula for epoch 2010.0.  相似文献

The Wutai Complex represents the best preserved granite-greenstone terrane in the North China Craton. The complex comprises a sequence of metamorphosed ultramafic to felsic volcanic rocks, variably deformed granitoid rocks, along with lesser amounts of siliciclastic and carbonate rocks and banded iron formations. Petrological evidence from the Wutai amphibolites indicates four metamorphic evolutionary stages. The M1 assemblage is composed of plagioclase+quartz+actinolite+chlorite+epidote+biotite+rutile, preserved as mineral inclusions in garnet porphyroblasts. The metamorphic conditions for this assemblage cannot be quantitatively estimated. The M2 stage is represented by garnet porphyroblasts in a matrix of quartz, plagioclase, amphibole, biotite, rutile and ilmenite. PT conditions for this assemblage have been estimated using the program Tweequ at 10–12 kbar and 600–650°C. The M3 assemblage is shown by amphibole+plagioclase±ilmenite symplectic coronas around embayed garnets and yields PT conditions of 6.0–7.0 kbar and 600–650°C. M4 is represented by chlorite and epidote rimming garnet, chlorite rimming amphibole and epidote replacing plagioclase under greenschist-facies conditions of 400–500°C and relatively lower pressures. Taken together, the qualitative PT estimates from M1 and M4 and the quantitative PT estimates from M2 and M3 define a clockwise PT path for the Wutai amphibolites.The estimated PT path from the four stages suggests that the Wutai Complex underwent initial burial and crustal thickening (M1+M2), subsequent isothermal exhumation (M3), and finally cooling and retrogression (M4). This tectonothermal path, along with those of the Fuping and Hengshan complexes, which bound the southeast and northwest margins, respectively, of the Wutai Complex, is considered to record the early Paleoproterozoic collision between the eastern and western segments of the North China craton.  相似文献

The water-vapor maser emission in the source G10.6-0.4 associated with an active starforming region (OB star cluster) is analyzed. The maser was monitored from 1981–2004 using the 22-meter radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory. Statistical processing of the results revealed the presence of structural formations on various scales. The individual H2O maser features may form ordered structures with velocity (V LSR) gradients, localized in separate clusters of maser features. The statistical variations of the V LSR values for the maser components may be due to the accretion of material onto the OB star cluster in G10.6-0.4 together with the rotation of the molecular cloud core. A model with a rotating, nonuniform condensation of accreted material in the vicinity of the stellar cluster is proposed to explain the variations of the velocity centroid of the H2O spectra. The integrated flux variations are explained well by a model in which the central source is an OB star cluster, possibly containing five to six stars. An important role in the evolution of the maser emission, as well as of the source as a whole, may be played by turbulent motions of the gas.  相似文献

The detection of pulsed radio emission from the recently discovered X-ray pulsar J0205+6449 in the young supernova remnant 3C 58 is reported together with the results of first studies of this emission. The observations were carried out at 111 and 88 MHz on radio telescopes of the Pushchino Observatory. The pulsar period, 65.68 ms, and period derivative, \(\dot P = 1.9 \times 10^{ - 13} \), have been confirmed. The integrated pulse profile at 111 MHz has been obtained and the flux density and spectral index α=2.8 measured. The pulsar dispersion measure DM=141 pc cm?3 has been confirmed. This dispersion measure yields a distance to the pulsar of d=6.4 kpc, a factor of two or more greater than the previously favored distance to the supernova remnant 3C 58 (2.6 kpc). The problem of the age and distance of the pulsar-SNR system is discussed. If the age of the pulsar J0205+6449 is equal to that of the SNR (820 years), this pulsar is the youngest known radio pulsar. The synchrotron mechanism for the radio and X-ray emission is proposed to explain the lower radio and X-ray luminosity of this new pulsar compared to the Crab pulsar, which is similar to it in many ways. Optical emission with luminosity Lopt=1031 erg/s and gamma-ray emission with Lγ=7×1035 erg/s are predicted, and the steep radio spectrum (α≈3) can be explained.  相似文献

The upper part of the High Himalayan slab in north central Nepal is comprised of a thick layer-parallel sheet of biotite + muscovite + tourmaline ± garnet ± sillimanite ± cordierite leucogranite up to 3–4 km thick and dipping north at 5–20°. These strongly peraluminous magmas were emplaced into high temperature–low-pressure sillimanite and cordierite bearing gneisses, calc-silicates and rare amphibolites which were metamorphosed at temperatures of 600–650°C some time during the Oligocene–early Miocene. Parallel stringers of black xenolithic gneisses within the leucogranites suggest passive magmatic intrusion along fractures parallel to the schistosity in the country rocks. In the mountains of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Pumori, Lingtren and the base of the Everest massif, these leucogranites form part of a single structural horizon bounded at the top by the Lhotse Detachment, the lower of two N-dipping normal faults of the South Tibetan Detachment (STD) system, and below by the Khumbu Thrust (KT), an out-of-sequence fault which was partly responsible for the uplift, erosion and exhumation of the leucogranites. A model for the emplacement of these leucogranites is proposed, where they represent viscous minimum melts, produced by melting of a pelitic protolith, similar to the underlying sillimanite grade gneisses, through muscovite breakdown, either during fluid-absent melting at <750°C, or fluid-saturated melting at <650°C. These leucogranites may have intruded up to ∼40 km horizontally from their source, but were emplaced by hydraulic fracturing along multiple sills into recently metamorphosed high temperature–low pressure rocks of the middle crust. The entire mid-crustal region where the granites were formed and emplaced was later uplifted along the hangingwall of the Khumbu Thrust, and by the structurally lower Main Central Thrust (MCT) to their present position. The location of the leucogranites at the top of the slab, but never intruding across the STD normal faults and the complete lack of leucogranites further down the slab rule out frictional heating along the MCT as a viable heat source and also rule out diapirism as a viable emplacement mechanism. High radioactivity of the crustal source, percolation of fluid from the migmatitic source into sills and dykes during simple shear, heat focussing due to a large thermal conductivity contrast across the STD, and decompression during active low-angle normal faulting above, are all viable processes to explain leucogranite melting and emplacement.  相似文献

The locations of sites of primary energy release of solar flares are studied. Magnetic singularities revealed earlier—self-intersections (reconnections) of F = 0 surfaces, where F is a differential factor determining the structural singularity in a potential magnetic field—are considered as possible sites of energy release. Six flare events demonstrating paired sources of non-thermal hard X-rays emission observed on March 17, 2002, July 17, 2002, April 6, 2004, November 4, 2004, November 6, 2004, and December 1, 2004 are analyzed for probable singularities. In each event analyzed, each source of non-thermal hard X-rays emission can be associated with an individual magnetic singularity; in other words, there is a magnetic-field line passing near the singularity and ending near (i.e. within about 10″) the source located on the photosphere (in the chromosphere). For the homologous flares observed on November 4 and 6, 2004, the same magnetic singularity is responsible for the source of non-thermal hard X-rays emission observed in the eastern sector of the flare region on November 4 and the source observed in the western part on November 6. A proposed interpretation associates these observations with a reversal of the electric field generated in the magnetic singularity on November 6, compared with the electric field generated on November 4, attributed to corresponding changes occurring in the photospheric magnetic field.  相似文献

The structure of the interstellar plasma in the direction of the pulsar in the Crab Nebula is studied using several sets of space-VLBI observations obtained with networks of ground telescopes and the RadioAstron space antenna at 18 and 92 cm. Six observing sessions spanning two years are analyzed. Giant pulses are used to probe the cosmic plasma, making it possible to measure the scattering parameters without averaging. More than 4000 giant pulses were detected. The interferometer responses (visibility functions) on ground and ground–space baselines are analyzed. On the ground baselines, the visibility function as a function of delay is dominated by a narrow feature at zero delay with a width of δτ ~ 1/B, where B is the receiver bandwidth. This is typical for compact continuum sources. On the ground–space baselines, the visibility function contains a set of features superposed on each other and distributed within a certain interval of delays, which we identify with the scattering time for the interfering rays τ. The amplitude of the visibility function on ground baselines falls with increasing baseline; the scattering disk is partially resolved at 18 cmand fully resolved at 92 cm. Estimates of the scattering angle ? give 0.5–1.3mas at 18 cm and 14.0 mas at 92 cm. The measured values of ? and τ are compared to estimate the distance from the source to the effective scattering screen, which is found at various epochs to be located at distances from 0.33 to 0.96 of the distance from the observer to the pulsar, about 2 kpc. The screen is close to the Crab Nebula at epochs of strong scattering, confirming that scattering on inhomogeneities in the plasma in the vicinity of the nebula itself dominates at these epochs.  相似文献

Thin levels of amphibolites from the Canigou, Albères and Cap de Creus massifs have been studied in order to investigate their pressure and temperature evolution during time. P and T values have been calculated using the amphibole–plagioclase–quartz thermo-barometer. Si, Al, Mg and Fe of zoned amphiboles have been analysed from core to rim by microprobe. By combining the results obtained from several (or different) crystals, PTt paths have been determined using the amphibole-plagioclase-quartz equilibriums. In the Canigou Massif, the amphibolites have recorded anti-clockwise PTt paths around a peak of metamorphism located at about 650?°C–6.1 kbar, whereas in the Albères Massif, the calculated PTt paths of amphibolites near the paragneisses are retrograde only, from 600?°C–5 kbar to 450?°C–2.5 kbar, but one cummingtonite-bearing amphibolite has also recorded an anti-clockwise evolution around 650?°C–4.5 kbar. The retrograde PTt paths recorded for amphibolites from the ‘Cap de Creus’ Massif are retrograde only, from 650?°C–6 kbar and 400?°C–1 kbar. To cite this article: C. Triboulet et al., C. R. Our measurements of the arrival-time delays of radio pulses from the Crab pulsar, PSR B0531+21, at low frequencies 111, 63, and 44 MHz revealed additional delays compared to the usual quadratic frequency relation, Δt(v) ∝ v ?2. These additional delays are 65 ms between 63 MHz and 111 MHz—i.e., a factor of two longer than the pulsar’s period, i.e., a factor of five longer than the pulsar period—and cannot be explained by the “twisting” of the magnetic-field lines by the rotation of the pulsar. We suggest the model in which a previously unknown high-density plasma layer with a high electron concentration is present along the line of sight in the Crab nebula, causing an additional frequency-dependent delay of the observed radio pulses at low frequencies due to the contribution of the n e 2 v ?4 term in the dispersion-delay formula. The parameters of this inferred layer have been derived: emission measure EM ? 4 × 106 pc/cm6, electron density n e ? 106 cm?3, depth along the line of sight d ? 4 × 10?6 pc, and electron temperature T e ≥ 2 × 106 K.  相似文献

Detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology combined with Hf isotopic and trace element data from metasedimentary rocks of the Aracuai Belt in southeastern Brazil provide evidence for break-up of the Congo-Sao Francisco Craton. The U-Pb age spectra of detrital zircons from metasediments of the Rio Doce Group(RDG) range from 900-650 Ma and define a maximum depositional age of ca. 650 Ma. Zircon trace element and whole rock data constrain an oceanic island arc as source for the deposition setting of the protoliths to the metasediments. Zircon ε_(Hf)(t) values from these rocks are positive between +1 and +15, supporting previous evidence of a Neoproterozoic extensional phase and oceanic crust formation in a precursor basin to the Aracuai Belt. Recrystallization of detrital zircon at ca. 630 Ma is compatible with a regional metamorphic event associated with terrane accretion to the Paleoproterozoic basement after transition from an extensional to a convergent regime. The juvenile nature, age spectra and trace element composition recorded in detrital zircons of metasediments from the Aracuai Belt correspond with zircons from metasedimentary rocks and oceanic crust remnants of other orogenic belts to its south. This suggests that rifting and oceanic crust formation of the entire orogenic system, the so-called Mantiqueira Province, was contemporaneous, most likely related to the opening of a large ocean. It further indicates that the cratonic blocks involved in the orogenic evolution of the Mantiqueira Province were spatially connected as early as 900 Ma.  相似文献

The results of studies of the dynamics and structure of plasma inhomogeneities in the Crab Nebula carried out during 2002–2015 at 111 MHz on the Large Phased Array of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory are presented. Giant pulses of the pulsar PSR B0531+21 were observed and analyzed using specialized software designed to enable characterization of the scattering of a pulse via modeling of its passage through the scattering medium. The results of this analysis for the scattering of giant pulses are compared to variations in the dispersion measure, derived using data from Jodrell Bank Observatory (United Kingdom). Numerous non-stationary events associated with enhanced scattering are identified during the indicated period. The strongest scattering was observed during 2012–2014. The corresponding data are interpreted as eclipses of the pulsar by filaments in the Crab Nebula. A correlation between the variations in the scattering and dispersion measure is observed.  相似文献

The presence of dome-and-keel provinces in Archean cratons has been connected with the initiation of plate tectonics on Earth as these features are most commonly observed in Archean rocks.The Quadrilátero Ferrífero in Brazil has been identified as a Paleoproterozoic dome-and-keel province for more than three decades.The prevailing model suggests that it formed during the Rhyacian Transamazonian orogeny,making it unique among dome-and-keel provinces.However,a lack of appropriate lithologies,datable minerals and the metamorphic overprint of later orogenesis has resulted in a cryptic metamorphic record for the formation of this dome-and-keel province.A clinopyroxene-bearing migmatite from the core of the Ba??o dome has peak P-T conditions of 5-7 kbar and 700-750 ℃ and a published age of ca.2730 Ma based on U-Pb ages of zircon from leucosomes,suggesting that this age represents the migmatisation event.A fine-grained epidote-albite-titanite assemblage overprints the coarse-grained clinopyroxene and amphibole,giving P-7 conditions of 8-9 kbar and 550 ℃ with an associated titanite age of ca.2050 Ma.A garnet-bearing amphibolite sample also from the core of the dome has peak P-T conditions of 7-8 kbar and 650-700 ℃,and texturally late titanite from this sample produces an age of ca.2060 Ma.Three additional samples were collected from the edges of the dome.A garnet-gedrite bearing felsic schist produces peak P-T conditions of 8-9 kbar and 650-700℃ on a clockwise P-T evolution.This sample has a U-Pb zircon age of ca.2775 Ma,which could date metamorphism or be the age of its volcaniclastic protolith.Texturally unconstrained titanite from the sample gives an age of ca.2040 Ma.A garnet-bearing amphibolite that occurs as a boudin within the felsic schist gives both zircon and titanite ages of ca.2050 Ma and has peak P-T conditions of 5-6 kbar and 650-700 ℃ on a near isobaric P-T path.An amphibolite dike,observed to cross-cut the felsic schist produces a zircon U-Pb age of ca.2760 Ma.Altogether this data suggests that the samples were metamorphosed in the Archean(ca.2775-2730 Ma)and again during the Transamazonian event.The most plausible explanation for this data is that dome-and-keel formation occurred in the Archean with migmatisation and high-temperature metamorphism occurring at this time.The Paleoproterozoic event is interpreted as a reactivation of the dome-and-keel formation structures,with Paleoproterozoic keels crosscutting Archean keels and producing metamorphic aureoles.The high radiogenic heat production and the presence of dense sedimentary successions in Archean terranes make dome-and-keel provinces a uniquely Archean feature,but they are susceptible to reworking,resulting in an enigmatic record of formation.  相似文献

Long-term measurements of the radio flux density of the young supernova remnant Cassiopeia A relative to the radio galaxy Cygnus A have been carried out at 38 MHz (1987–2004) and 151.5 MHz (1980–2004). Using other data from the literature, we find a secular decrease of the radio flux density of Cassiopeia A at the rates d(38 MHz) = ?0.79 ± 0.14% yr?1 (for 1956–2004) and d(151.5 MHz) = ?0.83 ± 0.04% yr?1 (for 1966–2004). Based on measurements made in 1997 and 1998 and data from the literature, this secular decrease at 81.5 MHz is d(81.5 MHz) = ?0.86 ± 0.14% yr?1 (for 1966–1998). Absolute flux densities of Cassiopeia A at 38 and 151.5 MHz for epoch 2005.5 are calculated based on the relative flux density of Cassiopeia A and the spectrum of Cyg A, which is approximated using an empirical formula at meter and decameter wavelengths.  相似文献

Our high-resolution spectral observations have revealed variability of the optical spectrum of the cool star identified with the IR source IRAS 20508+2011. We measured the equivalent widths of numerous absorption lines of neutral atoms and ions at wavelengths 4300–7930 Å, along with the corresponding radial velocities. Over the four years of our observations, the radial velocity derived from photospheric absorption lines varied in the interval V r⊙ = 15–30 km/s. In the same period, the Hα profile varied from being an intense bell-shaped emission line with a small amount of core absorption to displaying two-peaked emission with a central absorption feature below the continuum level. At all but one epoch, the positions of the metallic photospheric lines were systematically shifted relative to the Hα emission: ΔV r = V r(met) ? V r(Hα, emis) ≈ ?23 km/s. The Na D doublet displayed a complex profile with broad (half-width ≈ 120 km/s) emission and photospheric absorption, as well as an interstellar component. We used model atmospheres to determine the physical parameters and chemical composition of the star’s atmosphere: T eff = 4800 K, log g = 1.5, ξt = 4.0 km/s. The metallicity of the star differs little from the solar value: [Fe/H] = ?0.36. We detected overabundances of oxygen [O/Fe] = +1.79 (with the ratio [C/O] ≈ ?0.9), and α-process elements, as well as a deficit of heavy metals. The entire set of the star’s parameters suggests that the optical component of IRAS 20508+2011 is an “O-rich” AGB star with luminosity M v ≈ ?3m that is close to its evolutionary transition to the post-AGB stage.  相似文献

We investigate repeating aftershocks associated with the great 2004 Sumatra–Andaman (Mw 9.2) and 2005 Nias–Simeulue (Mw 8.6) earthquakes by cross-correlating waveforms recorded by the regional seismographic station PSI and teleseismic stations. We identify 10 and 18 correlated aftershock sequences associated with the great 2004 Sumatra and 2005 Nias earthquakes, respectively. The majority of the correlated aftershock sequences are located near the down-dip end of a large afterslip patch. We determine the precise relative locations of event pairs among these sequences and estimate the source rupture areas. The correlated event pairs identified are appropriately referred to as repeating aftershocks, in that the source rupture areas are comparable and significantly overlap within a sequence. We use the repeating aftershocks to estimate afterslip based on the slip-seismic moment scaling relationship and to infer the temporal decay rate of the recurrence interval. The estimated afterslip resembles that measured from the near-field geodetic data to the first order. The decay rate of repeating aftershocks as a function of lapse time t follows a power-law decay 1/tp with the exponent p in the range 0.8–1.1. Both types of observations indicate that repeating aftershocks are governed by post-seismic afterslip.  相似文献
