Time course measurements of iron ore dust sedimentation rates in sea-water of different salinities have shown that dust particle settlements occur at similar rates in normal sea-water and in that diluted to 50%. With salinities similar to those in brackish water conditions the sedimentation rates were rapid compared with those in fresh water.  相似文献

When shaken in ore dust suspensions and when made to sink through ore dust suspensions in water columns, freshly liberated Fucus oospheres (eggs) act as centres for the build-up of dust particle aggregates. Dust laden oospheres are less efficient as attractants of spermatozoids. The two marine algae, Chaetomorpha brychagona and Enteromorpha crinita are found abundantly on the iron ore tailings of Tolo Harbour, Hong Kong, with a rather high level of various metals. Tissue analysis of the algae revealed that the contents of heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn) were higher than in the population collected from the two uncontaminated sites far away from the tailings. It was suggested that the algae were able to adapt to such a harsh environment with a comparatively high level of trace elements and the lack of basic nutrients. However, further studies are needed before any conclusion can be drawn. The delicate situation of the land-locked sea, Tolo Harbour, where the tailings and future heavy industrial site are situated, should not be overlooked.  相似文献

Dust deposition in the sea at an iron ore unloading terminal in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland, was measured by means of sediment collectors placed 10 m above the sea bed on the outer face of the unloading jetty. A ‘background’ sedimentation of up to 64 g m?2 day?1 of non-ferrous material was obtained with no ships in port. During unloading dust quantities up to 18 021 g m?2 day?1 were obtained, but the quantities depended on the type of ore unloaded, and much smaller quantities of sediment were obtained with ores less prone to fine particle formation. Any ecological effects would involve sea bed benthos, although rates of transportation of the sedimented dust are probably rapid in the immediate vicinity of the ore terminal.  相似文献

Iron ore and host rocks have been sampled (90 oriented samples from 19 sites) from the Las Truchas mine, western Mexico. A broad range of magnetic parameters have been studied to characterize the samples: saturation magnetization, Curie temperature, density, susceptibility, remanence intensity, Koenigsberger ratio, and hysteresis parameters. Magnetic properties are controlled by variations in titanomagnetite content, deuteric oxidation, and hydrothermal alteration. Las Truchas deposit formed by contact metasomatism in a Mesozoic volcano-sedimentary sequence intruded by a batholith, and titanomagnetites underwent intermediate degrees of deuteric oxidation. Post-mineralization hydrothermal alteration, evidenced by pyrite, epidote, sericite, and kaolin, seems to be the major event that affected the minerals and magnetic properties. Magnetite grain sizes in iron ores range from 5 to >200 μm, which suggest dominance of multidomain (MD) states. Curie temperatures are 580±5°C, characteristic of magnetite. Hysteresis parameters indicate that most samples have MD magnetite, some samples pseudo-single domain (PSD), and just a few single domain (SD) particles. AF demagnetization and IRM acquisition indicate that NRM and laboratory remanences are carried by MD magnetite in iron ores and PSD–SD magnetite in host rocks. The Koenigsberger ratio falls in a narrow range between 0.1 and 10, indicating the significance of MD and PSD magnetites.  相似文献

对采空区目前深部探测研究得较多,对浅部则较少,国内外对利用瞬变电磁法探测铁矿采空区应用甚少,纳米瞬变电磁法则没有涉及,在利用探地雷达和常规瞬变电磁对地表存在低阻盖层屏蔽的沉积变质铁矿浅层采空区无法取得成效时,作者利用纳米瞬变电磁(NanoTEM)在实验区进行实验,取得了良好探测效果并分析了采样周期和观测时窗对探测效果的影响,实验研究表明,在岚县浅层铁矿采空区探测中,运用中心回线模式的NanoTEM,采用小线框+小电流+合理的采样间隔+浅层采样时窗的方法,最终达到对沉积变质铁矿浅层采空区的精确探测.  相似文献

Seaweed and urchins accumulate Fe and Zn to higher concentrations near a lead/zinc ore body than further away. The concentration of three metals (Cu, Fe and Zn) in seaweed increase with age of tissue. As and Cd are lowest in tissue of intermediate age, suggesting a reversible bonding mechanism for the two elements.Concentrations of Fe in whole urchins, and Zn in the gonads, are higher than concentrations in Fucus tips, which represent a lower level in the food web. Fe is higher in whole sea urchins than in their gonads. For As and Zn the relationship is reversed.  相似文献

The Sanaga iron ore prospect is a recent discovery in the Nyong Series with a resource estimated at 82.9 Mt at 32.1% Fe and whose origin remains debatable.The mineralization occurs as NE-SW oriented discontinuous lenticular bodies of magnetite-bearing pyroxenegneisses(MPG) hosted by ortho-derived gneisses. The increased production and price of rare earth elements(REEs) are indicative of their importance and of growing global attention. More accurate and practical exploration procedures are needed for REEs, and for other geochemical resources. One such procedure is a multivariate approach. In this study, five classifiers, including multilayer perceptron(MLP), Bayesian, k-Nearest Neighbors(KNN), Parzen, and support vector machine(SVM),were applied in supervised pattern classification of bulk geochemical samples based on REEs, P, and Fe in the Kiruna type magnetite-apatite deposit of Se-Chahun,Central Iran. This deposit is composed of four rock types:(1) High anomaly(phosphorus iron ore),(2) Low anomaly(metasomatized tuff),(3) Low anomaly(iron ore), and(4)Background(iron ore and others). The proposed methods help to predict the proper classes for new samples from the study area without the need for costly and time-consuming additional studies. In addition, this paper provides a performance comparison of the five models. Results show that all five classifiers have appropriate and acceptable performance. Therefore, pattern classification can be used for evaluation of REE distribution. However, MLP and KNN classifiers show the same results and have the highest CCRs in comparison to Bayesian, Parzen, and SVM classifiers. MLP is more generalizable than KNN and seems to be an applicable approach for classification and predictionof the classes. We hope the predictability of the proposed methods will encourage geochemists to expand the use of numerical models in future work.  相似文献

While saltation bombardment of sand grains on a fine substrate can produce considerable dust, the well-sorted nature of sand dunes tends to preclude them from consideration as major dust sources. Recent research, however, has revealed that sand dunes can, in some cases, be large sources of dust. We used the PI-SWERL(Portable In-Situ Wind Erosion Laboratory) to measure in the field the potential of sand dunes and other desert landforms to emit particulate matter 10 μm(PM-10) dust in the Tengger, Ulan Buh, and Mu Us deserts of northern China. Combined with high resolution particle size measurements of the dune sand, an assessment of sand dunes as a dust source can be made. Large active transverse dunes tend to contain little to no stored PM-10, yet they produce a low dust flux. Coppice dunes stabilized by vegetation contain appreciable PM-10 and have very high dust emission potential. There is a positive correlation between the amount of PM-10 stored in a dune and its potential dust flux. Saltation liberates loose fines stored in dunes, making them very efficient dust emitters compared to landforms such as dry lake beds and washes where dust particles are unavailable for aeolian transport due to protective crusts or sediment cohesion. In cases where large dunes do not store PM-10 yet emit dust when active, two hypotheses can be considered:(1) iron-oxide grain coatings are removed during saltation, creating dust, and(2) sand grains collide during saltation, abrading grains to create dust. Observations reveal that iron oxide coatings are present on some dune sands. PI-SWERL data suggests that low dust fluxes from dunes containing no stored dust may represent an estimate for the amount of PM-10 dust produced by removal of iron oxide coatings. These results are similar to results from dunes in the United States. In addition, PI-SWERL results suggest that dust-bearing coppice dunes, which cover vast areas of China's sandy deserts, may become major sources of dust in the future if overgrazing, depletion of groundwater, or drought destabilizes the vegetation that now partially covers these dunes.  相似文献

The Bayan Obo deposit in northern China is an ultra-large Fe–REE–Nb deposit.The occurrences,and geochemical characteristics of thorium in iron ores from the Bayan Obo Main Ore Body were examined using chemical analysis,field emission scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectrometer,and automatic mineral analysis software.Results identified that 91.69%of ThO2 in the combined samples was mainly distributed in rare earth minerals(bastnaesite,huanghoite,monazite;56.43%abundance in the samples),iron minerals(magnetite,hematite,pyrite;20.97%),niobium minerals(aeschynite;14.29%),and gangue minerals(aegirine,riebeckite,mica,dolomite,apatite,fluorite;4.22%).An unidentified portion(4.09%)of ThO2 may occur in other niobium minerals(niobite,ilmenorutile,pyrochlore).Only a few independent minerals of thorium occur in the iron ore samples.Thorium mainly occurs in rare earth minerals in the form of isomorphic substitution.Analyses of the geochemical characteristics of the major elements indicate that thorium mineralization in the Main Ore Body was related to alkali metasomatism,which provided source material and favorable porosity for hydrothermal mineralization.Trace elements such as Sc,Nb,Zr,and Ta have higher correlation coefficients with thorium,which resulted from being related to the relevant minerals formed during thorium mineralization.In addition,correlation analysis of ThO2 and TFe,and REO and TFe in the six types of iron ore samples showed that ThO2 did not always account for the highest distribution rate in rare earth minerals,and the main occurrence minerals of ThO2 were closely related to iron ore types.  相似文献

The effect of a change of wind direction on the orientation (and some other morphometric characteristics) of aeolian dust ripples is investigated. Ripple formation is simulated in a wind tunnel on surfaces that are already characterized by a previously established rippling. The effect of a wind rotation of 45 degrees, 90 degrees, and 180 degrees is examined. It is found that wind rotations of 45 and 180 degrees will lead towards a ripple alignment perpendicular to the last air flow. A wind rotation of 90 degrees, however, leads towards a ripple alignment perpendicular to the resultant wind direction. The faster the wind blows, the more this effect is expressed. No distinct relationship exists between the asymmetry of a dust ripple (and a dust ripple field) and the direction of the wind blowing as the ripples formed. As the orientation and asymmetry of aeolian dust ripples do not necessarily reflect the air flow direction during which the ripples formed, great care should be taken when reconstructing wind directions from such aeolian ripples.  相似文献

重力异常是地下不同规模、不同形态和不同埋深的不均匀地质体的综合响应,重力勘探主要通过从重力异常中提取感兴趣的局部异常,以便探测深部结构,寻找隐伏矿床.为探讨重力异常分离原则并检验方法效果,本文从各方法原理入手,加上模型试验以及在安徽省泥河矿区深部隐伏铁矿的探寻实践检验,阐明:趋势分析法是整体拟合不同于最小二乘圆滑的局部拟合,由于是多项式拟合区域场,趋势分析法不适宜范围大、地质情况复杂的测区;插值切割法以计算点场值与四点圆周平均值的插值运算为切割算子,通过连续切割,得到重力异常的切割区域场和局部场,插值切割法对于小测区单个异常的分离效果较好,切割次数选择1到2次即可;匹配滤波法通过分析实测异常功率谱曲线、选择合适的滤波段、建造适宜的低通和带通滤波器进行滤波,从而提取不同波数成分的异常场,匹配滤波更适合垂向叠加的异常分离;解析延拓是根据一个面上的一组位场数据确定另一个不同高度面上位场值,应用中要把握延拓高度;垂向二阶导数法可以起到突出浅源异常,区分水平叠加异常,确定异常体的边界,消除或削弱背景场的作用.通过安徽泥河铁矿重力异常分离实验,发现三阶趋势分析、向上延拓以及插值切割法能很好地分离出矿体异常和背景场,同时发现在泥河矿区东南部和东北部还存在剩余重力异常,可为泥河铁矿扩大规模提供新的线索.  相似文献
