We present the first grating-resolution X-ray spectra of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 3783, obtained with the High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer on the Chandra X-Ray Observatory. These spectra reveal many narrow absorption lines from the H-like and He-like ions of O, Ne, Mg, Si, S, and Ar as well as Fe xvii-Fe xxi L-shell lines. We have also identified several weak emission lines, mainly from O and Ne. The absorption lines are blueshifted by a mean velocity of approximately 440+/-200 km s-1 and are not resolved, indicating a velocity dispersion within the absorbing gas of a few hundred kilometers per second or less. We measure the lines' equivalent widths and compare them with the predictions of photoionization models. The best-fitting model has a microturbulence velocity of 150 km s-1 and a hydrogen column density of 1.3x1022 cm-2. The measured blueshifts and inferred velocity dispersions of the X-ray absorption lines are consistent with those of the strongest UV absorption lines observed in this object. However, simple models that propose to strictly unify the X-ray and UV absorbers have difficulty explaining simultaneously the X-ray and UV absorption-line strengths.  相似文献

It is shown that the very early classical Universe might not be radiation-dominated, although we do not exclude the existence of the radiation dominated phase for the early, but not the very early Universe. “Black Holes in a Violent Universe” is a COST Action (MP0905) connecting scientists from different disciplines – astronomers from all wavelength regimes (i.e. radio to TeV), physicists and particle physicists, theoreticians and observers – from currently 25 countries. The aim is to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary and multi-dimensional approach towards a better understanding of the general Black Hole phenomenon. COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is one of the longest-running European instruments supporting cooperation among scientists and researchers across Europe. The goal of MP0905 is to decipher further the way the Universe and the stars and galaxies evolved and – in particular – the role Black Holes play in this. 与吸积率和爱丁顿吸积率的比率一道,黑洞质量也是活动星系核的一个基本参数。我们采用谢光中等的新方法去估计了21个blazar样本的黑洞质量(MH),同时运用了MBH-σ相关分析方法来估计同一个blazar样本的黑洞质量(Mσ),通过对两种不同方法所得样本黑洞质量的比较,我们发现(1)MH系统的小于Mσ,但是对于大多数blazar样本来说Mσ和MH之间的差别很小;(2)在Mσ和MH之间存在着一个有意义的相关性,相关系数为r=0.832,p≤1.0×10-4。以上述的这些性质和活动星系核标准模型为基础,我们证明了这两种方法所得的黑洞质量Mσ和MH之间的系统差异是因为Mσ描述的是宽发射线区(r≤rb)的黑洞质量,而MH描述的是黑洞周围在最内层轨道附近的连续发射区的质量。这就是说Mσ应该是被过度估计了。由Mσ和中心黑洞质量MH*的关系,我们再次计算中心黑洞质量MH*,并且发现中心黑洞质量MH*和MH几乎是相同的。  相似文献

In the following paper, certain black hole dynamic potentials have been developed definitively on the lines of classical thermodynamics. These potentials have been refined in view of the small differences in the equations of the laws of black hole dynamics as given by Bekenstein and those of thermodynamics. Nine fundamental black hole dynamical relations have been developed akin to the four fundamental thermodynamic relations of Maxwell. The specific heats C ??,?? and C J,Q have been defined. For a black hole, these quantities are negative. The ??dA equation has been obtained as an application of these fundamental relations. Time reversible processes observing constancy of surface gravity are considered and an equation connecting the internal energy of the black hole E, the additional available energy defined as the first free energy function K, and the surface gravity ??, has been obtained. Finally as a further application of the fundamental relations, it has been proved for a homogeneous gravitational field in black hole space times or a de Sitter black hole that $C_{\Omega ,\Phi } -C_{J,Q} =\kappa \left[ {\left( {\frac{\partial J}{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{\Omega ,\Phi } \left( {\frac{\partial \Omega }{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{J,Q} +\left( {\frac{\partial Q}{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{\Omega ,\Phi } \left( {\frac{\partial \Phi }{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{J,Q} } \right]$ . The highest efficiency of converting rest mass into energy by accreting matter into a Kerr black hole is approximately 31% (Thorne 1974). We propose a new process in which periods of accretion from a thin disk, and the associated spin-up of the black hole, alternate with the periods of no accretion and magnetic transfer of energy from the black hole to the disk. These cycles can repeat indefinitely, at least in principle, with the black hole mass increasing by approximately 66% per cycle and up to approximately 43% of accreted rest mass radiated away by the disk.  相似文献

We discuss constraints on black hole spin and spin-related astrophysics as derived from X-ray spectroscopy. After a brief discussion about the robustness with which X-ray spectroscopy can be used to probe strong gravity, we summarize how these techniques can constrain black hole spin. In particular, we highlight XMM-Newton studies of the Seyfert galaxy MCG-6-30-15 and the stellar-mass black hole GX 339-4. The broad X-ray iron line profile, together with reasonable and general astrophysical assumptions, allow a non-rotating black hole to be rejected in both of these sources. If we make the stronger assertion of no emission from within the innermost stable circular orbit, the MCG-6-30-15 data constrain the dimensionless spin parameter to be a > 0.93. Furthermore, these XMM-Newton data are already providing evidence for exotic spin-related astrophysics in the central regions of this object. We conclude with a discussion of the impact that Constellation-X will have on the study of strong gravity and black hole spin.  相似文献

We use the teleparallel geometry analog of the Møller energy-momentum complex to calculate the energy distribution (due to matter plus field including gravity) of a charged black hole solution in heterotic string theory. We find the same energy distribution as obtained by Gad who investigated the same problem by using the Møller energy-momentum complex in general relativity. The total energy depends on the black hole mass M and charge Q. The energy obtained is also independent of the teleparallel dimensionless coupling constant, which means that it is valid not only in the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity, but also in any teleparallel model. Furthermore, our results also sustains (a) the importance of the energy-momentum definitions in the evaluation of the energy distribution of a given spacetime and (b) the viewpoint of Lessner that the Møller energy-momentum complex is a powerful concept of energy and momentum.  相似文献

We discuss the evolution of black hole transients on the basis of a few systems that were intensively observed with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (rxte). We focus on the global evolution and the observed state transitions. Rather than giving a numerical recipe for classifying observations, we try to identify times during outbursts at which clear changes occur in the X-ray variability, X-ray spectral, or multi-wavelength properties.  相似文献

Black hole hyperaccretion model is one of the potential candidates for the central engine of gamma-ray bursts. Combined with the complicated explosion phenomena including gamma-ray bursts, gravitational waves, and their electromagnetic counterparts, the results of a series of theoretical studies on this model are briefly reviewed in this paper. 黑洞吸积必定是跨声速的。对于静态、绝热吸积流,比能量E、比角动量L和质量吸积率M都是空间的常量。跨声速解的非奇异条件,F(E,L,M)=0,使独立参数减为只有两个。对于一对给定的E和L的符合条件E_c>E>E_(Barr)的值(这里E_c是一临界值,E_(Barr)是引力和离心力的联合势垒),上述非奇异条件给出两个不同的吸积率值,对应着两个不同的吸积流声速点位置。然而,物理上合理的整体解却是唯一的,它总是使两个吸积率值中之较小者得到实现。 对于一个不转动的黑洞,吸积以两种模式之一进行。一是类球吸积或称Bondi吸积,角动量的影响和相对论效应均微不足道;另一是盘吸积,这两个因素起决定性作用。两种模式之间的转换是基于声速点位置的间断性跳跃,而这种跳跃是由吸积流参数(例如角动量)的连续变化所引发。Bondi吸积可称为高态而盘吸积为低态,因为前者总对应着较高的吸积率。 随时间变化的吸积流很可能在这两种模式之间来回振荡,呈现出周期性或准周期性或无规则行为。这可以用来解释天鹅座X-1和若干活动星系核的光变现象,从而为黑洞的存在提供有力的观测依据。  相似文献

A peak exists in the distribution of observed black hole masses and no satisfactory explanation has been forthcoming so far. Here, we attempt an interpretation. We first establish a link between the helium core mass and the initial black hole mass, based on the result of 2-dimensional simulation of stellar core collapse by Fryer et al. Then the helium core masses are computed by using the PPE stellar evolution code, and the distribution of initial black hole masses for black hole binaries in stellar populations II and I is obtained. Estimating black hole masses of blazars is still a big challenge. Because of the contamination of jets, using the previously suggested size–continuum luminosity relation can overestimate the broad line region (BLR) size and black hole mass for radio-loud AGNs, including blazars. We propose a new relation between the BLR size and H β emission line luminosity and present evidences for using it to get more accurate black hole masses of radio-loud AGNs. For extremely radio-loud AGNs such as blazars with weak/absent emission lines, we suggest the use of fundamental plane relation of their elliptical host galaxies to estimate the central velocity dispersions and black hole masses, if their velocity dispersions are not known but the host galaxies can be mapped. The black hole masses of some well-known blazars, such as OJ 287, AO 0235+164 and 3C 66B are obtained using these two methods and the Mσ relation. The implications of their black hole masses on other related studies are also discussed.  相似文献

An analysis of a spherically symmetric braneworld configuration is performed when the intrinsic curvature scalar is included in the bulk action. In the case when the electric part of the Weyl tensor is zero, all the exterior solutions are found; one of them is of the Schwarzschild-(A)dS 4 form, which is matched to a modified Oppenheimer-Volkoff interior solution. In the case when the electric part of the Weyl tensor is non zero, the exterior Schwarzschild-(A)dS 4 black hole solution is modified receiving corrections from the non-local bulk effects. A non-universal gravitational constant arises, depending on the density of the considered object and the Newton's law is modified for small and large distances; however, the conventional limits are easily obtained. 当史瓦西黑洞周围存在渐近均匀的外部磁场时, 描述带电粒子在史瓦西黑洞附近运动的哈密顿系统会变为不可积系统. 类似于这样的相对论哈密顿系统不存在有显式分析解的2部分分离形式, 给显式辛算法的构建和应用带来困难. 近一年以来的系列工作提出将相对论哈密顿系统分解为具有显式分析解的2个以上分离部分形式, 成功解决了许多相对论时空构建显式辛算法的难题. 最近的工作回答了哈密顿系统显式可积分离数目对长期数值积分精度有何影响、哪种显式辛算法有最佳长期数值性能这两个问题, 指出哈密顿有最小可积分离数目即3部分分裂解形式并且应用于优化的4阶分段龙格库塔显式辛算法可取得最好精度. 由此选择上述数值积分方法并利用庞加莱截面、最大李雅普诺夫指数和快速李雅普诺夫指标研究在磁化史瓦西黑洞附近运动的带电粒子轨道动力学. 结果显示: 针对某特定的粒子能量和角动量, 较小的外部磁场很难形成混沌轨道; 较大的正磁场参数容易使轨道产生混沌, 并且随着磁场的增大, 轨道的混沌程度也随之加强; 粒子能量适当变大也可以加剧混沌程度, 但负磁场参数和粒子角动量变大都会减弱混沌.  相似文献

There are remarkable similarities between the rapid X-ray variability of low-magnetic field neutron stars in low mass X-ray binaries, and that of black holes. In particular at frequencies < 100 Hz, their power spectra can be strikingly similar. The highest frequency phenomena (kilohertz QPOs, black hole high-frequency QPOs and neutron star hectohertz QPOs) are the ones that show most differences, perhaps because they originate closest to the compact object. Most variability components vary in frequency in correlation with one another, and the correlations once again are very similar across neutron stars and black holes – some extend even to white dwarfs. Although this does not strictly require that all phenomena whose frequencies are involved are caused by the same physics in all three source types, this does indicate that basic properties of the accretion flow which are the same in all three source types play an important role in generating at least some of the frequencies.  相似文献
