We have succeeded in establishing a cosmological model with a non-minimally coupled scalar field φ that can account not only for the spatial periodicity or the picket-fence structure exhibited by the galaxy N-z relation of the 2dF survey but also for the spatial power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) temperature anisotropy observed by the WMAP satellite. The Hubble diagram of our model also compares well with the observation of Type Ia supernovae. The scalar field of our model universe starts from an extremely small value at around the nucleosynthesis epoch, remains in that state for sufficiently long periods, allowing sufficient time for the CMB temperature anisotropy to form, and then starts to grow in magnitude at the redshift z of ~1, followed by a damping oscillation which is required to reproduce the observed picket-fence structure of the N-z relation. To realize such behavior of the scalar field, we have found it necessary to introduce a new form of potential V(φ) φ 2exp?(?q φ 2), with q being a constant. Through this parameter q, we can control the epoch at which the scalar field starts growing.  相似文献

Based on kinematic data on masers with known trigonometric parallaxes and measurements of the velocities of HI clouds at tangential points in the inner Galaxy, we have refined the parameters of the Allen-Santillan model Galactic potential and constructed the Galactic rotation curve in a wide range of Galactocentric distances, from 0 to 20 kpc. The circular rotation velocity of the Sun for the adopted Galactocentric distance R 0 = 8 kpc is V 0 = 239 ± 16 km s?1. We have obtained the series of residual tangential, ΔV θ , and radial, V R , velocities for 73 masers. Based on these series, we have determined the parameters of the Galactic spiral density wave satisfying the linear Lin-Shu model using the method of periodogram analysis that we proposed previously. The tangential and radial perturbation amplitudes are f θ = 7.0±1.2 km s?1 and f R = 7.8±0.7 km s?1, respectively, the perturbation wave length is λ = 2.3±0.4 kpc, and the pitch angle of the spiral pattern in a two-armed model is i = ?5.2° ±0.7°. The phase of the Sun ζ in the spiral density wave is ?50° ± 15° and ?160° ± 15° from the residual tangential and radial velocities, respectively.  相似文献

In the light of the experiments /3,4/ showing that neutrinos may have a non-zero rest-mass, we discuss the constraints placed on the cosmological term Λ and the Hubble constant Ho by such a mass and the age of the universe in the Lemaitre model. An upper limit of Λ of 15 × 10?57/cm2 and possible ranges of Ho are given.  相似文献

Based on the Ogorodnikov-Milne model, we analyze the proper motions of 95 633 red giant clump (RGC) stars from the Tycho-2 Catalogue. The following Oort constants have been found: A = 15.9 ± 0.2 km s?1 kpc?1 and B = ?12.0±0.2 km s?1 kpc?1. Using 3632 RGC stars with known proper motions, radial velocities, and photometric distances, we show that, apart from the star centroid velocity components relative to the Sun, only the model parameters that describe the stellar motions in the XY plane differ significantly from zero. We have studied the contraction (a negative K effect) of the system of RGC stars as a function of their heliocentric distance and elevation above the Galactic plane. For a sample of distant (500–1000 pc) RGC stars located near the Galactic plane (|z| < 200 pc) with an average distance of d = 0.7 kpc, the contraction velocity is shown to be Kd = ?3.5 ±0.9 km s?1; a noticeable vertex deviation, l xy = 9 · o 1 ± 0 · o 5, is also observed for them. For stars located well above the Galactic plane (|z| ≥200 pc), these effects are less pronounced, Kd = ?1.7 ± 0.5 km s?1 and l xy = 4 · o 9 ± 0 · o 6. Using RGC stars, we have found a rotation around the Galactic X axis directed toward the Galactic center with an angular velocity of ?2.5 ± 0.3 km s?1 kpc?1, which we associate with the warp of the Galactic stellar-gaseous disk.  相似文献

We consider the holographic dark energy model in which the model parameter c 2 evolves slowly with time. First we calculate the evolution of EoS parameter as well as the deceleration parameter in this generalized version of holographic dark energy (GHDE). Depending on the parameter c 2, the phantom regime can be achieved earlier or later compare with original version of holographic dark energy. The evolution of energy density of GHDE model is investigated in terms of parameter c 2. We also show that the time-dependency of c 2 can effect on the transition epoch from decelerated phase to accelerated expansion. Finally, we perform the statefinder diagnostic for GHDE model and show that the evolutionary trajectories of the model in sr plane are strongly depend on the parameter c 2.  相似文献

Bianchi Type III bulk viscous dust filled cosmological models in Lyra geometry are investigated. To get the deterministic model of the universe, we have assumed two conditions: (i) ζθ=constant; and (ii) shear (σ) is proportional to the expansion (θ). This condition leads to B=C n where ζ the coefficient of bulk viscosity, θ the expansion in the model; B and C are metric potentials and n a constant. The physical and geometrical aspects of the model and singularities in the model are also discussed.  相似文献

Alternative cosmologies, based on extensions of General Relativity, predict modified thermal histories in the early universe during the pre Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) era. When the expansion rate is enhanced with respect to the standard case, thermal relics typically decouple with larger relic abundances. In this paper, we study the dynamical evolution of an f(R) model of gravity in a homogeneous and anisotropic background which is given by a Bianchi type-I model of the universe filled with dark matter, which is described by a perfect fluid with a barotropic equation of state. As an example of a consistent analysis of modified gravity, we apply the formalism to a simple background solution of R+βR n gravity. Our analysis shows that f(R) cosmology allows dark matter masses lesser than 100 GeV, in the regime ρ c ?ρ m . We finally discuss how these limits apply to some specific realizations of standard cosmologies: an f(R) gravity model, Einstein frame model.  相似文献

Based on the Ogorodnikov-Milne model, we analyze the proper motions of Tycho-2 and UCAC2 stars. We have established that the model component that describes the rotation of all stars under consideration around the Galactic y axis differs significantly from zero at various magnitudes. We interpret this rotation found using the most distant stars as a residual rotation of the ICRS/Tycho-2 system relative to the inertial reference frame. For the most distant (d≈900 pc) Tycho-2 and UCAC2 stars, the mean rotation around the Galactic y axis has been found to be M 13 ? =?0.37±0.04 mas yr?1. The proper motions of UCAC2 stars with magnitudes in the range 12–15m are shown to be distorted appreciably by the magnitude equation in μα cos δ, which has the strongest effect for northern-sky stars with a coefficient of ?0.60±0.05 mas yr?1 mag?1. We have detected no significant effect of the magnitude equation in the proper motions of UCAC2 stars brighter than ≈11m.  相似文献

We have modelled the plasmaspheric density distribution for a range of solar cycle, seasonal and diurnal conditions with a magnetic flux tube dependent diffusive equilibrium model by using experimentally determined values of ionospheric parameters at 675 km as boundary conditions.Data is presented in terms of plasmaspheric H+ and He+ density contours, total flux tube content and equatorial plasma density for a range of L-values from 1.15 to 3.0. The variation of equatorial density with L-value shows good agreement with the 1L4 dependence observed experimentally. The results show that the model predicts larger solar cycle and diurnal variation in equatorial plasma density than observed using whistler techniques. However, the whistler method requires a model to deduce the equatorial density and is therefore open to interpretation.Seasonal variations are rather artifical since in this general model we have not attempted to match equatorial densities for flux tubes emanating from the winter and summer hemispheres.  相似文献

Astronomical observations and cosmochemical calculations suggest that the planet Mercury may be composed of materials which condensed at relatively high temperatures in the primitive solar nebula and may have a basaltic crust similar to parts of the moon. These findings, plus the long standing inference that Mercury is much richer in metallic iron than the other terrestrial planets, provide important constraints which we apply to models of the thermal evolution and density structure of the planet. The thermal history calculations include explicitly the differing thermal properties of iron and silicates and account for core segregation, melting and differentiation of heat sources, and simulated convection during melting. If the U and Th abundances of Mercury are taken from the cosmochemical model of Lewis, then the planet would have fully differentiated a metal core from the silicate mantle for all likely initial temperature distributions and heat transfer properties. Density distributions for the planet are calculated from the mean density and estimates of the present-day temperature. For the fully differentiated model, the moment of inertia C/MR2 is 0.325 (J2=0.302×10?6). For models with lower heat source abundances, the planet may not yet have differentiated. The density profiles for such models give C/MR2=0.394 (J2=0.487×10?6). These results should be useful for preliminary interpretation of the Mariner 10 measurements of Mercury's gravitational field.  相似文献

Data from eight auroral ion composition measurements, seven of which have been reported in the literature, are analyzed and compared in terms of a single model format. We find, contrary to conclusions published previously for two of the experiments, that there is no discrepancy concerning O+ ions. In general, the mean CIRA 1972 neutral model is found to be quite suitable as a representative of the major gas composition required for auroral E-region calculations which agree with the data. Nitric oxide profiles inferred from analysis of the data range from about normal non-auroral E-region nitrix oxide distributions with peak concentrations near 108 cm?3 to profiles with peak populations near 109 cm?3. Although the higher concentrations are generally correlated with intense aurora, we acknowledge that the length and strength of auroral activity prior to the individual rocket flights can have an even greater bearing, at times, on the NO “snapshot” profile deduced from the auroral ion composition data.  相似文献

We compare the moment of inertia (MOI) of a simple hydrostatic, two layer body as determined by the Radau–Darwin Approximation (RDA) to its exact hydrostatic MOI calculated to first order in the parameter q = Ω2R3/GM, where Ω, R, and M are the spin angular velocity, radius, and mass of the body, and G is the gravitational constant. We show that the RDA is in error by less than 1% for many configurations of core sizes and layer densities congruent with those of solid bodies in the Solar System. We then determine the error in the MOI of icy satellites calculated with the RDA due to nonhydrostatic effects by using a simple model in which the core and outer shell have slight degree 2 distortions away from their expected hydrostatic shapes. Since the hydrostatic shape has an associated stress of order ρΩ2R2 (where ρ is density) it follows that the importance of nonhydrostatic effects scales with the dimensionless number σ/ρΩ2R2, where σ is the nonhydrostatic stress. This highlights the likely importance of this error for slowly rotating bodies (e.g., Titan and Callisto) and small bodies (e.g., Saturn moons other than Titan). We apply this model to Titan, Callisto, and Enceladus and find that the RDA-derived MOI can be 10% greater than the actual MOI for nonhydrostatic stresses as small as ∼0.1 bars at the surface or ∼1 bar at the core–mantle boundary, but the actual nonhydrostatic stresses for a given shape change depends on the specifics of the interior model. When we apply this model to Ganymede we find that the stresses necessary to produce the same MOI errors as on Titan, Callisto, and Enceladus are an order of magnitude greater due to its faster rotation, so Ganymede may be the only instance where RDA is reliable. We argue that if satellites can reorient to the lowest energy state then RDA will always give an overestimate of the true MOI. Observations have shown that small nonhydrostatic gravity anomalies exist on Ganymede and Titan, at least at degree 3 and presumably higher. If these anomalies are indicative of the nonhydrostatic anomalies at degree 2 then these imply only a small correction to the MOI, even for Titan, but it is possible that the physical origin of nonhydrostatic degree 2 effects is different from the higher order terms. We conclude that nonhydrostatic effects could be present to an extent that allows Callisto and Titan to be fully differentiated.  相似文献

We show that in the framework of R2 gravity and in the linearized approach it is possible to obtain spherically symmetric stationary states that can be used as a model for galaxies. Such approach could represent a solution to the Dark Matter Problem. In fact, in the model, the Ricci curvature generates a high energy term that can in principle be identified as the dark matter field making up the galaxy. The model can also help to have a better understanding on the theoretical basis of Einstein-Vlasov systems. Specifically, we discuss, in the linearized R2 gravity, the solutions of a Klein-Gordon equation for the spacetime curvature. Such solutions describe high energy scalarons, a field that in the context of galactic dynamics can be interpreted like the no-light-emitting galactic component. That is, these particles can be figured out like wave-packets showing stationary solutions in the Einstein-Vlasov system. In such approximation, the energy of the particles can be thought of as the galactic dark matter component that guarantees the galaxy equilibrium. Thus, because of the high energy of such particles the coupling constant of the R2-term in the gravitational action comes to be very small with respect to the linear term R. In this way, the deviation from standard General Relativity is very weak, and in principle the theory could pass the Solar System tests. As pertinent to the issue under analysis in this paper, we present an analysis on the gravitational lensing phenomena within this framework.Although the main goal of this paper is to give a potential solution to the Dark Matter Problem within galaxies, we add a section where we show that an important property of the Bullet Cluster can in principle be explained in the scenario introduced in this work.To the end, we discuss the generic prospective to give rise to the Dark Matter component of most galaxies within extended gravity.  相似文献

Low metallicity very massive stars with an initial mass between 140M and 260M can be subdivided into two groups: those between 140M and 200M which produce a relatively small amount of Fe, and those with a mass between 200M and 260M where the Fe-yield ejected during the supernova explosion is enormous. We first demonstrate that the inclusion of the second group into a chemical evolutionary model for the Solar Neighbourhood predicts an early temporal evolution of Fe, which is at variance with observations whereas it cannot be excluded that the first group could have been present. We then show that a low metallicity binary with very massive components (with a mass corresponding to the first group) can be an efficient site of primary 14N production through the explosion of a binary component that has been polluted by the pair instability supernova ejecta of its companion. When we implement these massive binary 14N yields in a chemical evolution model, we conclude that very massive close binaries may be important sites of 14N enrichment during the early evolution of the Galaxy.  相似文献

Based on published data, we have collected information about Galactic maser sources with measured distances. In particular, 44 Galactic maser sources located in star-forming regions have trigonometric parallaxes, proper motions, and radial velocities. In addition, ten more radio sources with incomplete information are known, but their parallaxes have been measured with a high accuracy. For all 54 sources, we have calculated the corrections for the well-known Lutz-Kelker bias. Based on a sample of 44 sources, we have refined the parameters of the Galactic rotation curve. Thus, at R 0 = 8kpc, the peculiar velocity components for the Sun are (U , V , W ) = (7.5, 17.6, 8.4) ± (1.2, 1.2, 1.2) km s?1 and the angular velocity components are ω 0 = ?28.7 ± 0.5 km s?1 kpc?1, ω 0′ = +4.17 ± 0.10 km s?1 kpc?2, and ω0″ = ?0.87 ± 0.06 km s?1 kpc?3. The corresponding Oort constants are A = 16.7 ± 0.6 km s?1 kpc?1 and B = ?12.0 ± 1.0 km s?1 kpc?1; the circular rotation velocity of the solar neighborhood around the Galactic center is V 0 = 230 ± 16 km s?1. We have found that the corrections for the Lutz-Kelker bias affect the determination of the angular velocity ω 0 most strongly; their effect on the remaining parameters is statistically insignificant. Within themodel of a two-armed spiral pattern, we have determined the pattern pitch angle $i = - 6_.^ \circ 5$ and the phase of the Sun in the spiral wave χ 0 = 150°.  相似文献

A method for detecting voids in the galaxy distribution is presented. Using this method, we have identified 732 voids with a radius of the seed sphere R seed > 4.0h ?1 Mpc in a volume-limited sample of galaxies from the southern part of the 2dFGRS survey. 110 voids with R seed > 9.0h ?1 Mpc have a positive significance. The mean volume of such voids is ~19 × 103 h ?3 Mpc3. Voids with R seed > 9.0h ?1 Mpc occupy 55% of the sample volume. We construct a dependence of the volumes of all the identified voids on their ranks and determine parameters of the galaxy distribution. The dependence of the volume of voids on their rank is consistent with a fractal model (Zipf’s power law) of the galaxy distribution with a fractal dimension D ≈ 2.1 (given the uncertainty in determining the dimension using our method and the results of a correlation analysis) up to scales of ~25h ?1 Mpc with the subsequent transition to homogeneity. The directions of the greatest elongations of voids and their ellipticities (oblateness) are determined from the parameters of equivalent ellipsoids. The directions of the greatest void elongations have an enhanced concentration to the directions perpendicular to the line of sight.  相似文献

We model the subnebulae of Jupiter and Saturn wherein satellite accretion took place. We expect each giant planet subnebula to be composed of an optically thick (given gaseous opacity) inner region inside of the planet’s centrifugal radius (where the specific angular momentum of the collapsing giant planet gaseous envelope achieves centrifugal balance, located at rCJ ∼ 15RJ for Jupiter and rCS ∼ 22RS for Saturn) and an optically thin, extended outer disk out to a fraction of the planet’s Roche-lobe (RH), which we choose to be ∼RH/5 (located at ∼150 RJ near the inner irregular satellites for Jupiter, and ∼200RS near Phoebe for Saturn). This places Titan and Ganymede in the inner disk, Callisto and Iapetus in the outer disk, and Hyperion in the transition region. The inner disk is the leftover of the gas accreted by the protoplanet. The outer disk may result from the nebula gas flowing into the protoplanet during the time of giant planet gap-opening (or cessation of gas accretion). For the sake of specificity, we use a solar composition “minimum mass” model to constrain the gas densities of the inner and outer disks of Jupiter and Saturn (and also Uranus). Our model has Ganymede at a subnebula temperature of ∼250 K and Titan at ∼100 K. The outer disks of Jupiter and Saturn have constant temperatures of 130 and 90 K, respectively. Our model has Callisto forming in a time scale ∼106 years, Iapetus in 106-107 years, Ganymede in 103-104 years, and Titan in 104-105 years. Callisto takes much longer to form than Ganymede because it draws materials from the extended, low density portion of the disk; its accretion time scale is set by the inward drift times of satellitesimals with sizes 300-500 km from distances ∼100RJ. This accretion history may be consistent with a partially differentiated Callisto with a ∼300-km clean ice outer shell overlying a mixed ice and rock-metal interior as suggested by Anderson et al. (2001), which may explain the Ganymede-Callisto dichotomy without resorting to fine-tuning poorly known model parameters. It is also possible that particulate matter coupled to the high specific angular momentum gas flowing through the gap after giant planet gap-opening, capture of heliocentric planetesimals by the extended gas disk, or ablation of planetesimals passing through the disk contributes to the solid content of the disk and lengthens the time scale for Callisto’s formation. Furthermore, this model has Hyperion forming just outside Saturn’s centrifugal radius, captured into resonance by proto-Titan in the presence of a strong gas density gradient as proposed by Lee and Peale (2000). While Titan may have taken significantly longer to form than Ganymede, it still formed fast enough that we would expect it to be fully differentiated. In this sense, it is more like Ganymede than like Callisto (Saturn’s analog of Callisto, we expect, is Iapetus). An alternative starved disk model whose satellite accretion time scale for all the regular satellites is set by the feeding of planetesimals or gas from the planet’s Roche-lobe after gap-opening is likely to imply a long accretion time scale for Titan with small quantities of NH3 present, leading to a partially differentiated (Callisto-like) Titan. The Cassini mission may resolve this issue conclusively. We briefly discuss the retention of elements more volatile than H2O as well as other issues that may help to test our model.  相似文献

We have obtained new estimates of the Sun’s distance from the symmetry plane Z and the vertical disk scale height h using currently available data on stellar OB associations, Wolf–Rayet stars, HII regions, and Cepheids. Based on individual determinations, we have calculated the mean Z = ?16 ± 2 pc. Based on the model of a self-gravitating isothermal disk for the density distribution, we have found the following vertical disk scale heights: h = 40.2 ± 2.1 pc from OB associations, h = 47.8 ± 3.9 pc from Wolf–Rayet stars, h = 48.4 ± 2.5 pc from HII regions, and h = 66.2 ± 1.6 pc from Cepheids. We have estimated the surface, Σ = 6 kpc?2, and volume, D(Z ) = 50.6 kpc?3, densities from a sample of OB associations. We have found that there could be ~5000 OB associations in the Galaxy.  相似文献

FRW universe in RS II braneworld model filled with a combination of dark matter and dark energy in the form of modified Chaplygin gas (MCG) is considered. It is known that the equation of state (EoS) for MCG is a three-variable equation determined by A, α and B. The permitted values of these parameters are determined by the recent astrophysical and cosmological observational data. Here we present the Hubble parameter in terms of the observable parameters Ω m0, Ω x0, H 0, redshift z and other parameters like A, B, C and α. From Stern data set (12 points), we have obtained the bounds of the arbitrary parameters by minimizing the χ 2 test. The best-fit values of the parameters are obtained by 66 %, 90 % and 99 % confidence levels. Next due to joint analysis with BAO and CMB observations, we have also obtained the bounds of the parameters (B,C) by fixing some other parameters α and A. The best fit value of distance modulus μ(z) is obtained for the MCG model in RS II brane, and it is concluded that our model is perfectly consistent with the union2 sample data.  相似文献
