This paper, based on wave data measured with Type 956 Directional WAVE-TRACK Buoy System at new Dalian Port for a whole year, analyses the properties of the wave frequency spectra, and derives the formula for the frequency spectrum of wind-waves.  相似文献

Based on observations from buoys, it is found that the wave age is well correlated with the nondimensional wave height, and this correlation is best described by a 3/5-power law. This similarity law is valid in the cases of wind waves as well as swells under natural sea states. On the basis of the 3/5-power law combined with the well-known 3/2-power law, it is shown that the wave-induced wind stress increases rapidly with wave age, indicating that the traditional observations or analytic techniques have only given the turbulent Reynolds stress induced by short wind waves, but excluded the long-wave-induced wind stress. The latter constitutes a small fraction to the total wind stress when the wave age is smaller than 1.0. The increase of sea-surface roughness with wave age can be attributed to wave breaking.  相似文献

The numerical mode of nonlinear wave transformation based on both the Laplace equation for water field and the Bemoulli equation for water surface is a kind of time-domain boundary problem with initial conditions. And the basis for establishing the numerical mode of nonlinear wave in time domain is to trace the position of wave free surface and to calculale the instantaneous surface height and surface potential function. This paper firstly utilizes the ‘0-1‘ combined BEM to separate the boundary by means of discretization of Green‘ s integral equation based on the Laplace equation, then separates the free surface of wave with FEM and derives the FEM equation of wave surface that satisfies the nonlinear boundary conditions. By jointly solving the above BEM and FEM equations, the wave potential and surface height could be obtained with iteration in time domain. Thus a new kind of nonlinear numerical mode is established for calculating wave transformation. The wave test in the numerical wave tank shows that the numerical simulation with this mode is of high accuracy.  相似文献

- In order to verify the theoretical design and computation of a new type of platform, laboratory model test of the superficial sliding of the platform is carried out. Test results show that the requirement for the stability of the platform can be satisfied, and the API-82 criterion can be met. It is also suggested that, in order to enhance the stability of the platform, a buried- pad with porous holes and a long apron-board should be adopted in the design of the new type of platform.  相似文献

New Numerical Scheme for Simulation of Hyperbolic Mild-Slope Equation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The original hyperbolic mild-slope equation can effectively take into account the combined effects of wave shoaling, refraction, diffraction and reflection, but does not consider the nonlinear effect of waves, and the existing numerical schemes for it show some deficiencies. Based on the original hyperbolic mild-slope equation, a nonlinear dispersion relation is introduced in present paper to effectively take the nonlinear effect of waves into account and a new numerical scheme is proposed. The weakly nonlinear dispersion relation and the improved numerical scheme are applied to the simulation of wave transformation over an elliptic shoal. Numerical tests show that the improvement of the numerical scheme makes efficient the solution to the hyperbolic mild-slope equation. A comparison of numerical results with experimental data indicates that the results obtained by use of the new scheme are satisfactory.  相似文献

In planktonic diatom samples collected from Xiamen Harbour, Xiamen,Fujian,China from January 1983 to December 1984, two species and varieties are new to science and three species are recorded for the first time in China. The mild-slope equation derived by Berkhoff (1972), has widely been used in the numerical calculation of refraction and diffraction of regular waves. However, it is well known that the random sea waves has a significant effect in the refraction and diffraction problems. In this paper, a new form of time-dependent mild slope equation for irregular waves was derived with Fade approximation and Kubo's time series concept. The equation was simplified using WKB method, and simple and practical irregular mild slope equation was obtained. Results of numerical calculations are compared with those of laboratory experiments.  相似文献

Based on the Laplace transform, a direct derivation of the ordinary differential equations for the three-dimensional transient free-surface Green function in marine hydrodynamics is presented. The results for the 3D Green function and all its spatial derivatives are a set of fourth-order ordinary differential equations, which are identical with that of Clement (1998). All of these results may be used to accelerate numerical computation for the time-domain boundary element method in marine hydrodynamics.  相似文献

Abstract

The ultraviolet (UV) sensitivity of five species of freshwater zooplankton (three Cladocera, two Copepoda) were investigated. The animals were exposed to varying levels of UV‐radiation in a sunshine‐simulator and the UV doses for 10 and 50% mortality (LD10, LD50) were estimated using a dose‐response model. To place these doses in context they were compared with modelled clear‐sky surface UV irradiances in New Zealand. The cladocerans Daphnia carinata and Ceriodaphnia dubia were sensitive to levels of UVB irradiance of LD10 = 18–25 kJ m?2 and LD50 = 35–37 kJ m?2. These sensitivities are consistent with published values for other cladocera. In contrast a third cladoceran, Bosmina meridionalis, exhibited no higher mortality over the full range of the cumulative UVB‐doses used (3–40 kJ m?2) than controls receiving no UV exposure. The copepod Boeckella delicata showed the highest UV‐sensitivity of all organisms tested (LD10 = 7 kJ m?2, LD50 = 33 kJ m?2) whereas for Boeckella triarticulata, which was more heavily pigmented than B. delicata, no UV‐induced mortality was observed. Under natural conditions UV irradiances of up to 100 kJ m?2 day?1 can fall on the surface of New Zealand lakes. Although this is attenuated in natural waters, these data suggest that UVB irradiance may be a significant ecological variable to some zooplankton species.  相似文献

Soft‐bottom macrobenthic communities of Manukau Harbour,New Zealand   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
A survey of the macrobenthos at 42 stations in the channels and subtidal sandflats in Manukau Harbour, Auckland, revealed four biotic associations; although referred to as communities, they are not equivalent to Peterson‐type communities since they are not particularly discrete and there is some overlap in species composition. The similarity in species between stations was measured by percentage similarity coefficients using Jaccard's coefficient for presence‐absence data and Czekanowski's coefficient for log‐transformed quantitative data. Stations were grouped in dendrograms by group‐average sorting which allowed re‐arrangement of the similarity matrices into trellis diagrams.

Dominant species in each of the four groups of stations were ranked by calculating a ‘community score’ for each, based on its abundance, fidelity, and bioindex value within the group. Each of the four groups was found to support a unique group of species and these are considered as representing four communities. Two indicator species in each community were identified from the highest community scores: Group 1, the Microcosmus/Nolomithrax community — associated with a coarse sediment of dead bivalve shells and small rocks in shallow water. It has high species diversity indices; Group 2, the Halicarcinus/Bugula community— associated with a relatively coarse sediment of dead shells, grit, and little sand in deep water in the main channels; Group 3, the Amalda/Myadora community—associated with fine sand with mud or shell grit in shallow parts of the channels; and Group 4, the Fellaster/Pagurus community — associated with ironsand in shallow water in the outer harbour. The proportional dimensions of 66 adult specimens of Harriotta raleighana Goode & Bean, 1895 (Holocephali: Rhinochimacridae) from New Zealand are summarised; in both sexes there is considerable variation in proportions. Within the size range of the sample, the snout region of males is proportionately longer than that of females, and growth of the snout is negatively allometric in both sexes. Meagre data suggest that similar sexual dimorphism and allometry occur in North Atlantic specimens, though very large and very small specimens do not fit an extrapolation of the New Zealand data. None of the New Zealand males has the snout tip upturned and armed with large rounded knobs as described for North Atlantic males.  相似文献

We propose that late Wisconsin deposition and erosion (Hudson Shelf and Block Island valleys) on the shelf and slope from New Jersey to southern New England were a consequence of the catastrophic drainage of glacial lakes behind terminal moraine systems and the huge volume of water stored beneath the Laurentian ice sheet and subsequent erosion of the lake sediments by flash floods. The morphology imparted by glaciation regulated the discharge associated with the ablation of the glaciers. Associated with the deposits west of Hudson Shelf Valley are the remains of mammoth and mastodon which were transported from their living habitats along the lake shores to their present burial sites on the shelf. The floods also triggered gravity flows on the upper continental slope which made possible the transportation of coarse debris over hundreds of km into the deep-sea. That these catastrophic flood morphologies can still be recognized on the middle to outer shelf suggest that much of its surface was little modified during the late Pleistocene/Holocene transgression. Thus the late Pleistocene/Holocene transgression may have been characterized by short periods when sea level rose rapidly allowing for the preservation of relict features.  相似文献

Recruitment of glass‐eels into freshwater is in two distinct phases characterised by behavioural differences: an initial invasion from the sea, and an upstream migration. Catches made at night in the Makara Stream, Wellington (41° 13'S, 174° 43’ E) indicate that the invasion by both New Zealand species commences in July, with that of the long‐finned eel Anguilla dieffenbachii Gray finishing by November, and that of the short‐finned eel A. ausiralis schmidlii Phillipps by December.

The length of post‐metamorphic sea‐life influences both morphology and behaviour of the glass‐eels. Differences in this period of sea‐life between early and late season glass‐eels explain the initial avoidance but later attraction of fresh water to the glass‐eels. Responses to fresh water also explain the preference for early season glass‐eels to invade on the flood tide and late season glass‐eels on the ebb tide. Neither the lunar cycle nor rainfall appear to be significant influences on invasion periodicity.  相似文献

A 31/2‐year succession of wharf‐pile fauna is described from communities of different known ages on piles at Lyttelton, New Zealand. Intertidal regions of the piles were initially colonised by the barnacle Elminius modestus; these populations developed to form a subclimax community which was subsequently replaced by a climax community of the mussel Modiolus neozelanicus after 21/2 years. The stability of this climax is discussed. In the infratidal region initial settlement of the tubicolous amphipod Corophium acherusicum and an erect bryozoan Bugula sp. was followed after 5 months by colonisation by solitary tunicates. These tunicates became dominant only after H years and provided numerous niches for superficial foulers, crevice dwellers, and motile organisms. This succession is compared and contrasted with a terrestrial succession of plants. Four vertical zones were recognised: supralittoral zone, midlittoral zone, in‐fralittoral fringe, and infralittoral zone. The wave climate at the Maui site off the west coast of the North Island and off the east coast of Great Barrier Island to the east of the North Island are examined. This is done by means of average wave spectra derived from a 2‐year database, acquired from Waverider buoy measurements made over 1980 and 1981. The average spectra provide information about the individual sea states which characterise the wave climate, and show that on average the sea state on the east coast is less energetic than it is on the west coast. Further, it is seen that this difference results largely from a dominant and persistent long‐period south‐westerly swell of 12.4 s period which is present at the Maui location but absent from the Great Barrier Island seas.  相似文献
