Summary In the present paper, an attempt is made for generalized the atmospheric diffusion operator. This can be accomplished by employing the realizability procedure, to identify a surface operator, that ensures self-adjointness’ of the atmospheric diffusion operator. The dispersion modeling in low wind speeds assumes importance because of the high frequency of occurrence and episodic nature of these poor diffusion conditions. A steady-state mathematical model for hermitized model has been calculated for the dispersion of air pollutants in low winds by taking into account the diffusion in the three coordinate directions and advection along the mean wind. The eddy diffusivities have been parameterized in terms of downwind distance for near source dispersion (Arya, 1995). The constants involved in this parameterization are the squares of intensities of turbulence. An analytical solution for resulting advection-diffusion equation with the physically relevant boundary conditions has been obtained. The solution has been used to simulate the field tracer data collected at IIT Delhi in low wind convective conditions.  相似文献

Summary Paper reviews recent laboratory and numerical model studies of passive gaseous tracer dispersion in the atmospheric convective boundary layer (CBL) with surface and elevated wind shears. Atmospheric measurement data used for validation of these two model techniques are briefly discussed as well. A historical overview is given of laboratory studies of dispersion in the atmospheric CBL. Model studies of tracer dispersion in two CBL types, the (i) non-steady, horizontally homogeneous CBL and (ii) quasi-stationary, horizontally heterogeneous CBL, are reviewed. The discussion is focused on the dispersion of non-buoyant plume emitted from a point source located at different elevations within the CBL. Approaches towards CBL modeling employed in different laboratory facilities (water tanks and wind tunnels) are described. The reviewed numerical techniques include Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Lagrangian modeling. Numerical data on dispersion in the sheared CBL is analyzed in conjunction with experimental results from wind-tunnel CBLs.  相似文献

In order to estimate the impacts of buildings on air pollution dispersion, numerical simulations are performed over an idealized urban area, modelled as regular rows of large rectangular obstacles. The simulations are evaluated with the results of the Mock Urban Setting Test (MUST), which is a near full-scale experiment conducted in Utah’s West Desert area: it consists of releases of a neutral gas in a field of regularly spaced shipping containers. The numerical simulations are performed with the model Mercure_Saturne, which is a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics code adapted to atmospheric flow and dispersion simulations. It resolves complex geometries and uses, in this study, a k closure for the turbulence model. Sensitivity studies focus on how to prescribe the inflow conditions for turbulent kinetic energy. Furthermore, different sets of coefficients available in the literature for the k closure model are tested. Twenty MUST trials with different meteorological conditions are simulated and detailed analyses are performed for both the dynamical variables and average concentration. Our results show overall good agreement according to statistical comparison parameters, with a fraction of predictions for average concentration within a factor of two of observations of 67.1%. The set of simulations offers several inflow wind directions and allows us to emphasize the impact of elongated buildings, which create a deflection of the plume centerline relative to the upstream wind direction.  相似文献

Experimental Study of Pollutant Dispersion Within a Network of Streets   总被引:2,自引:2,他引:0  
We investigate the dispersion of a passive scalar within an idealised urban district made up of a building-like obstacle array. We focus on a street network in which the lateral dimension of the buildings exceeds the street width, a geometry representative of many European cities. To investigate the effect of different geometries and wind directions upon the pollutant dispersion process, we have performed a series of wind-tunnel experiments. Concentration measurements of a passive tracer have enabled us to infer the main features characterising its dispersion within the street network. We describe this by focusing on the roles of different transfer processes. These are the channelling of the tracer along the street axes, the mixing at street intersections, and the mass exchange between the streets and the overlying atmospheric flow. Our experiments provide evidence of the dependence of these processes on the geometrical properties of the array and the direction of the overlying atmospheric flow.  相似文献

对汾河谷地及太原市在2015年1月的一次重污染过程运用WRF-Chem模式进行污染过程的数值模拟、观测验证和地形敏感性实验,分析了河谷地形对区域污染过程和大气环境容量的影响机制。结果表明:太原市及周边汾河谷地大气边界层环流和大气污染传输受天气系统、地形和城市化共同影响;地形环流强度明显强于太原城市热岛环流,且对其发展存在明显抑制作用,从而限制了城市大气环境容量,加剧城市近地面大气污染物的堆积和空气质量恶化;研究区域大气环境容量受气象主导风向影响:当天气主导风向偏南北向,也即与狭长的汾河谷地走向一致时,有利于该区域大气污染物的扩散清除,而当天气主导风向偏东西向时,则该区域大气环境容量明显减小,且近地面大气污染物浓度与大气环境容量之间呈强相关性,相关系数达到0.74;当地形敏感组实验中取消太原市周边河谷地形特征时,上述相关系数降低到0.21。  相似文献

为了研究大气污染对太行山中部地区地表风的影响,我们对阳泉、榆社(高山站),石家庄、邢台(平原站)4个站点1966~2005年间的能见度、近地面温度、近地面风速数据进行了统计计算与趋势分析。结果显示:在平原站能见度相对山坡站下降更加明显的背景下,平原站的近地面温度、近地面风速、850hPa风速都呈下降趋势;而山坡站的近地面温度、近地面风速呈上升趋势。分析表明:(1)由于气溶胶的辐射效应与冷却效应,抑制了垂直通量的上下传输,致使平原站下午的近地面气温呈下降趋势,平原站和高山站的地表风速呈相反的变化趋势。(2)平原站850hPa (与高山站高度相近)风速呈现下降趋势,印证了高山站的近地面风速增加是气溶胶的辐射效应减弱了垂直能量交换造成的。   相似文献

Some peak PM10 episodes, occurred during PM monitoring campaigns performed on October 2005 and February and June 2006 in Bari town, have been characterized. Moreover back trajectories of air masses and Principal Component Analyses were applied. Three of the peak PM10 episodes investigated were related to local emissions of primary pollutants during poor atmospheric dispersion conditions. The other two peak PM10 episodes considered are related with long range transport air masses toward Apulia region: in one case the chemical characterization and the back trajectories analysis indicate that high PM10 value detected is due to the Saharan dust advection in the Apulia region; in the other case air masses with different origin give rise to high PM10 value.Moreover PM10 daily mean concentrations, presented in this paper collected from January 2005 to August 2007 and obtained by automatic device in six stations of air quality monitoring networks in Bari territory, do not show a seasonal trend for PM10 concentrations, contrary to the PM10 trend shown in the towns of North Italy. This can be explained mostly considering that our region presents generally meteo-climatic conditions that favour pollutants dispersion.  相似文献

本文以淄博市城市发展战略规划(2017—2030年)为例,开展了基于多元数据的城市工业布局气候适宜性评估。基于气象、遥感、环保等多元资料,对城市规划密切相关的风环境、热环境、大气环境等进行了综合分析。结果表明:研究区主导风向和风速大小存在一定空间差异,北部的桓台和临淄的主导风路径多以东—西为主,其余地区以南—北路径为主,临淄的东部地区和淄川的中部地区为常年风速大值区,而周村、张店的大部分地区和博山的南部区域为风速小值区;城市热岛范围随时间扩张明显,以两轴区域为核心,呈蔓延式发展,较强以上等级热岛面积由2009年的405 km2发展至2016年的918 km2,其中张店区的增幅速度最快;敏感性模拟试验显示,易在山前出现污染汇聚带,PM2.5污染物高浓度主要分布在淄博的中北部平原地区,而市域北部和东部区域的污染扩散条件相对较好,各区域工业排放大气污染物的扩散特征主要受不同区域的主导风影响,其中淄川北部与张店南部的污染物扩散易对整个中心城区产生较大影响。综合考虑以上风环境、热环境、大气环境的分析结果,将规划区进行大气环境敏感区等级划分,明确了5类区域的工业布局气候适宜性,从改善局地气候与大气环境角度提出规划建议,为合理配置土地功能、优化工业布局提供了科学支撑。  相似文献

Seasonal variations of the spectra of wind speed and air temperature in the mesoscale frequency range from 1.3 × 10-4 to 1.5 × 10-3 Hz (10 min to 2 h periods) have been studied through observations over land for one year. Spectrographs [time series of isopleths of spectral densities, f · S(f) vs f] of wind speed and air temperature contain occasional peaks that are attributed to short-lived mesoscale atmospheric activity with narrow frequency bands. Significant spectral peaks of wind speed were found in 19% of the total observations in winter, and in 15–16% in the other seasons; for air temperature, they occured in 12% of observations in autumn, and in 16–19% in the other seasons. The peaks most often occurred in the period range from 30 min to 1 h; most had durations less than 24 h. Mesoscale fluctuations of wind speed and air temperature were highly correlated, and in most cases, phase differences were 90–180 ° with air temperature leading wind speed. Significant spectral peaks of wind speed often occurred during northerly seasonal cold winds in winter, and accompanied tropical and/or mid-latitude cyclones in the other seasons. When the peaks occurred, wind speed was usually relatively high and the atmospheric surface layer was unstable.  相似文献

利用新一代空气质量模式系统Models-3,通过改变模式中长白山山脉区域地形高度,对比分析长白山高压以及辽宁中部城市群5城市气象环境要素的变化情况。结果表明,改变地形后,原来较强的长白山高压有了明显的减弱,城市群5城市的水平气流辐合场消失,风速增大,逆温强度也减弱,有利于污染物的传输扩散;模拟结果也表明污染物浓度有明显的降低,试验较好地揭示了长白山高压对辽宁中部城市群大气污染的影响机制。  相似文献

Forest decline in some parts of Europe gave rise to various environmental studies concerning the intake and uptake of pollutants in the ecosphere. As far as fluid mechanics is concerned, the current interest is centered on flow-induced phenomena, e.g., the flow-enhanced deposition of pollutants to trees. In order to understand better the mechanisms of pollutant dispersion and deposition to trees, wind tunnel experiments carried out with small real coniferous trees and model trees are summarized in this paper. The flow around single trees and tree stands, both in flat terrain and on hillsides, has been analysed. The measurements were performed with a two-component laser Doppler anemometer system installed in an atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel. A chemical tracer method based on an ammonia-manganese chloride reaction was applied to visualize the deposition patterns around trees and modeled forest stands.  相似文献

Presented are the results of measuring the concentration of atomic mercury Hg0 on August 28–30, 2012 in the atmospheric surface layer over the Ussuri Bay in the Sea of Japan during the typhoon Bolaven passage. It is revealed that the Hg0 concentration during this period varied from 1.7 to 3.3 ng/m3. The maximum values were observed at the coming of mercury-enriched air masses from the Yellow Sea area at the simultaneous decrease in the air pressure and increase in the wind speed.  相似文献

While nocturnal offshore precipitation, which produces rain cells and bands, has been studied in tropical areas, few studies have analyzed the occurrence of this phenomenon at higher latitudes. Using radar reflectivity, nocturnal rainfall in the western Mediterranean area has been detected near the coast of the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. More than 50 events have been recorded since 2009. MM5 mesoscale simulations of some of the recorded events allow us to establish that the most likely causes for these precipitation events are: (1) the interaction between cold air masses conducted by drainage and katabatic winds, and (2) a wetter and warmer synoptic wind. Two different episodes are presented: one in the northeastern Iberian Peninsula, caused by stratiform clouds, which occurred at the mouths of three rivers; the other case, produced by convective clouds, occurred at the southern Iberian Peninsula and was caused by the drainage winds flowing down from some mountain ranges located close to the coast.  相似文献

In the first part of this study, results of a computational fluid dynamics simulation over an array of cubes have been validated against a set of wind-tunnel measurements. In Part II, such numerical results are used to investigate spatially-averaged properties of the flow and passive tracer dispersion that are of interest for high resolution urban mesoscale modelling (e.g. non resolved obstacle approaches). The results show that vertical profiles of mean horizontal wind are linear within the canopy and logarithmic above. The drag coefficient, derived from the numerical results using the classical formula for the drag force, is height dependent (it decreases with height). However, a modification of the formula is proposed (accounting for subgrid velocity scales) that makes the drag coefficient constant with height. Results also show that the dispersive fluxes are similar in magnitude to the turbulent fluxes, and that they play a very important role within the canopy. Vertical profiles of turbulent length scales (to be used in kl closure schemes, where k is the turbulent kinetic energy and l a turbulent length scale) are also derived. Finally the distribution of the values around the mean over the reference volumes are analysed for wind and tracer concentrations.  相似文献

The dispersion of a uniform two-dimensional flow of carbon dioxide gas in air over a square two-dimensional obstacle was studied experimentally in an atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel. The obstacle Reynolds number was about 6000 based upon the undisturbed velocity at the height of the obstacle, and the Froude number was about 1.75. Carbon dioxide was injected vertically upward from the surface at a rate of 10% of the freestream velocity. The injection surface area began one obstacle length upstream and extended upstream one and one-half obstacle lengths. A gas concentration measurement system for carbon dioxide and air mixtures was developed for use in an atmospheric wind tunnel. Centerline steady-state concentration profiles were measured for various locations downstream of the leading edge of the obstacle. The maximum concentrations of carbon dioxide occurred atop the obstacle in the thin recirculation zone above the obstacle. Immediately behind the obstacle within the larger downstream recirculation zone, concentration levels significantly decreased. Further downstream, the concentration levels continued to diminish.Experimental results were compared with the numerical solutions of Sutton et al. (1986). The experimental measurements of concentration were lower than the predicted results of the numerical solutions, which may be attributed to the higher value of the Froude number present in the experimental measurements.Associate Professor.  相似文献

Measurements in Alaska in sub-polar night conditions have indicated that the size distribution of atmospheric aerosols varies significantly and systematically depending upon the type of air mass. Atmospheric aerosol particles are small and numerous in warm Pacific marine air mass systems and large and sparse in cold, Arctic-derived air mass systems. In a previous paper this was hypothesized to be associated with the progressive loss of the smallest particles by attachment to cloud droplets under the driving influence of thermal Brownian motion. A theory involving two parameters, (mean particle radius), and n0 (aerosol number concentration) was developed to describe the process. In the previous paper, the relationship where ν is the Junge power law exponent (ν 3) was derived and has recently been confirmed to acceptable accuracy with the use of a simple experiment which employed diffusive separation. The diffusion experiment has also allowed us to estimate that the fraction of time, φ, that the aerosol-laden polar air masses coexist in the presence of cloud is 0.01 < φ < 0.1. The submicron aerosol particles in Arctic-derived air masses flowing into central Alaska are deduced to have residence times on the order of 10 days.  相似文献

A series of sixteen atmospheric tracer experiments using sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), chemical smoke and meteorological balloons was conducted to explore the transport of airborne contaminants in the boundary layer over the ocean surface and in the separating boundary layer over an isolated island cape. The immediate objective of the tests was to determine the impact of local pollutant sources on a background air quality sampling program conducted in the South Pacific from elevated towers on Tutuila Island, American Samoa. In addition to satisfying this objective, the tests are of interest in that they illustrate the local behavior of pollutants in a complex natural atmospheric flow.Offshore tracer tests indicated that the crosswind dispersion of pollutants over the ocean surface can be approximately modeled using the simple Gaussian plume model. The observed crosswind dispersion of the tracer corresponded to that expected under neutrally stable atmospheric conditions, consistent with the near equilibration of the ocean surface and air temperature in the South Pacific. Local, or near-field, tests indicated that tracer released into the wake downwind of the leading edge of the cape mixed rapidly to a height of about 8 m above the surface (i.e., 30–40% of the cape height). Due to decoupling between the boundary layer over the cape and the freestream flow, however, very little of the tracer was observed above this height. This suggests that the impact of local pollutant sources (i.e., on the cape) would be minimized if the proposed sampling towers were elevated significantly above an 8 m altitude (e.g., twice that height).  相似文献
