Observations of various types of objects in the northern sky were obtained at 44 GHz in the 70-61 A + methanol line on the 20-m Onsala radio telescope (Sweden), in order to search for Class I methanol maser emission in the interstellar medium: regions of formation of high-mass stars, dust rings around HII regions, and protostellar candidates associated with powerful molecular outflows and Galactic HII regions. Seven new Class Imethanolmasers have been discovered toward regions of formation of highmass stars, and the existence of two previously observed masers confirmed. The following conclusions are drawn: (1) neither the association of a bipolar outflow manifest in the wings of CO lines with a highmass protostellar object (HMPO) nor the presence of thermal emission in lines of complex molecules are sufficient conditions for the detection of Class I methanol emission; no association with HMPOs radiating at 44 GHz was found for EGOs (a new class of object tracing bipolar outflows); (2) the existence of H2O masers and Class II methanol masers in the region of aHMPOenhances the probability of detecting Class I methanol emission toward the HMPO; Class II methanol masers with stronger line fluxes are associated with Class I methanol masers.  相似文献

We have revised the Astro Space Center catalog of Class I methanol masers detected in star-forming regions (MMI/SFR), mainly at 44 GHz, and created a new electronic version of the catalog. Currently, the catalog contains 206 objects, selected from publications through 2011 inclusive. The data from the survey of Chen et al. (2011), performed specifically for objects EGO, which form a new specific catalog, are not included. The MMI/SFR objects were identified with emission and absorption objects in the near IR, detected during the MSX and Spitzer space missions. Seventy-one percent of Class I methanol masers that emit at 44 GHz and fall within the Galactic longitude range surveyed by Spitzer (GLIMPSE) are identified with Spitzer Dark Clouds (SDCs), and 42% with Extended Green Objects (EGOs). It is possible that Class I methanol masers arise in isolated, self-gravitating clumps, such as SDCs, at certain stages of their evolution. A sample of SDCs is proposed as a new target list for Class I methanol maser searches. A detailed statistical analysis was carried out, taking into account the characteristics of the regions of MMI/SFR formation presented in the catalog.  相似文献

Themaser pumping schemes proposed for the various OH lines may not be as clear-cut as they once seemed. The main OH lines, at 1665 and 1667 MHz, are thought to be radiatively pumped, with the radiation typically coming from nearby ultracompact HII regions. Recently, a new class of main-line maser has been posited, collisionally pumped by shocks due to molecular outflows. The W3(OH)/W3(OH)-TW system is the archetype: traditional OH masers are excited by theW3(OH) ultracompact HII region, while collisionally pumped OH masers arise in the younger object W3(OH)-TW, which is driving an outflow. The 1720 MHz OH satellite line maser, typically found in SNR–cloud interaction regions, is thought to be collisionally pumped, as are class I methanol masers found in star formation regions. Thus it is plausible that these two masers arise in similar (shocked gas) circumstances. In this study we observe all four OH transitions in the direction of Extended Green Objects (EGOs) that trace shocked gas (possibly from outflows) in high-mass star formation regions. Previous studies have found a high incidence of class I methanol maser emission in these objects, suggesting that OH(1720) masers might also be abundant in this sample. Observations of 20 northern EGOs (δ > −17°) were carried out with the Jansky Very Large Array of all four ground state OH transitions, the HI line, and the 20 centimeter continuum. Positive detection of OH lines was obtained for 10 EGOs: OH lines at 1665 and 1667 MHz were detected toward 45% of the sample. The stellar OH line at 1612 MHz was detected toward 15% of the sample. The 1720 MHz emission line was detected in only one EGO source, G45.47+0.07, which is also presents the strongest main-line OH emission of our sample. We measure the projected separations between OH masers and GLIMPSE point sources associated with EGOs (median value 0.04 pc), betweenOH and class II methanol masers (median value 0.03 pc), and between OH and class I methanol masers (median value 0.14 pc), thus confirming previous findings that class I methanol masers are located further from exciting sources than areOH and class II methanol masers. Bearing in mind the theoretical incompatibility of class I and class II methanol maser pumping schemes, and the obtained separations between class I methanol masers and other masers in the EGOs, we conclude that class I methanol masers do not co-exist with GLIMPSE point sources, OH and class II methanol masers in one and the same core. Rather, we suggest that the class I masers arise in distinct but neighboring cores, about 1 pc distant, and in a different evolutionary state.

The results of monitoring the H2O maser observed toward the region GH2O 092.67+03.07 (IRAS 21078+5211) located in the Giant Molecular Cloud Cygnus OB7 are presented. The observations were carried out with the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory in 2006–2017. Strong flares of the H2O maser emission with flux densities up to 19 800 Jy were detected. The flares exhibited both global (over the source) and local characters. All the flares were accompanied by strong variations in the H2O spectra within the corresponding radial-velocity ranges. Individual H2O components form both compact clusters and chains 1–2-AU long. Analysis of the variations of the fluxes, radial velocities, and line shapes of features during the flares showed that the medium may be strongly fragmented, with small-scale turbulent motions taking place in the H2Omaser region.  相似文献

Results of monitoring of H2O maser in the infrared source IRAS 20126+4104, which is associated with a cool molecular cloud, are presented. The observations were carried out on the 22-meter radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia) between June 1991 and January 2006. The spectrum of the H2O maser emission extends from ? 16.7 to 4.8 km/s and splits into separate groups of emission features. Cyclic variations of the integrated maser flux with a period from 3.4 to 5.5 years were detected, together with strong flares of up to 220 Jy in individual emission features. It is shown that large linewidths in periods of high maser activity are due to small-scale turbulent motions of the material. An expanding envelope around a young star is accepted as a model for the source. The protostar has a small peculiar velocity with respect to the molecular cloud (~2 km/s). Individual emission features form organized structures, including multi-link chains.  相似文献

Observations at 44 GHz in the 70−61 A + methanol line have been carried out on the 20-m telescope of the Onsala Space Observatory (Sweden) in the directions of the poorly studied region G27.4–0.2 and of several supernova remnants, at the coordinates of the OH(1720) maser satellite emission, with the aim of searching for Class I methanol maser emission in these sources. The region G27.4–0.2 has beenmapped, and contains maser sources and two supernova remnants with similar coordinates and radial velocities, which may accelerate condensation of the ambient gas-dust medium. This may play a role in enhancing the probability of methanol formation and maser emission. This is the first detection of 44 GHz maser emission in this source, and this maser is among the 10% of the strongest Class I methanol masers, within the uncertainties in the integrated flux (of a total of 198 currently knownmasers). A 27′ × 27′ region around the maser has been mapped at 44 GHz in steps of 1′. The 44-GHz emission forms only within the previously known maser region. Further studies in water lines are needed to estimate the influence of shocks from supernovae. No 44-GHz Class I methanol maser emission was detected at the 3σ level at the coordinates of the OH(1720) satellite emission in six supernova remnants; i.e., the presence of OH(1720) emission is not a sufficient condition for the detection of Class I methanol masers.  相似文献

The results of a study of H2O and OH maser emission in the complex region of active star formation W75 N are presented. Observations were obtained using the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia) and the Nan3ay radio telescope (France). Flaring H2O maser features may be identified with maser spots associated with the sources VLA 1 and VLA 2. Themain H2O flares occurred in VLA 1. The flare emission was associated with either maser clusters having closely spaced radial velocities and sizes up to ~2 AU or individual features. The maser emission is generated in a medium where turbulence on various scales is present. Analysis of the line shapes during flare maxima does not indicate the presence of the simplest structures—homogeneous maser condensations. Strong variability of the OH maser emission was observed. Zeeman splitting of the 1665-MHz line was detected for several features of the same cluster at a radial velocity of +5.5 km/s. The mean line-of-sight magnetic field in this cluster is ~0.5 mG, directed away from the observer. Flares of the OH masers may be due to gas compression at a shock or MHD wave front.  相似文献

Results of systematic observations of a sample of bright H2O maser sources with fluxes, on average, exceeding 200 Jy in their main spectral feature during April–September 2017 (G25.65+1.05, G25.825?0.178, G27.184?0.082, G34.403+0.233, G35.20?0.74, G43.8?0.13, G107.30+5.64) are presented. These observations were carried out in preparation for Very Long Baseline Interferometry observations with an array including the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory 22-m radio telescope. All these sources display fairly strong variability during the time interval considered, encompassing fluxes from ~40 to ~2300 Jy. A flare reaching ~17 000 Jy was detected at a velocity of 42.8 km/s in G25.65+1.05 on September 7, 2017, which subsequently grew to 60 000 Jy at the end of September 2017. This suggests the presence of compact maser structures. The velocities covered by various spectral components range from 5 to 20 km/s. In three sources (G25.65+1.05,G25.825?0.178,G35.20?0.74), a general growth in the fluxes of all the spectral features is observed, which may indicate variations in the conditions for pumping by an external source, for example, variations in the infrared flux from a central source or the passage of a shock. Possible evidence for the presence of bipolar outflows or disk structures in G25.65+1.05 is discussed.  相似文献

The results of observations of OH (λ = 18 cm) and H2O (λ = 1.35 cm) masers toward AS 501 obtained with the Nançay Observatory Radio Telescope (France) and the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia), respectively, are presented. Nine cycles of H2O maser activity ranging from 2.8 to 6.0 years were detected, identifying AS 501 as an irregular variable star. Zeeman splitting was found only in the 1612-MHz satellite line at ?59.2 km/s. The splitting is 0.11 km/s, corresponding to a line-of-sight magnetic field strength of 0.48 mG. The field is directed toward the observer. The detected radial-velocity drift of the H2O emission features can be explained in a model with elongated filaments with radial-velocity gradients.  相似文献

Results of a study of a strong flare of H2O maser emission in the star-forming region Sgr B2(M) in 2004 are reported. The observations were carried out on the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory. The main emission, with its flux density reaching 3800 Jy, was concentrated in a narrow radial-velocity interval (about 3 km/s) and was most likely associated with the compact group r, while the emission at VLSR > 64 km/s came from group q. After 1994, the variations of the H2O maser emission in Sgr B2(M) became cyclic with a mean period of 3 years.  相似文献

The results of a search for maser emission in the methanol lines 8?1-70 E at 229.8 GHz, 3?2-4?1 E at 230.0 GHz, 00-1?1 E at 108.9 GHz, and in the J 1-J 0 E series near 165 GHz in star-forming regions are reported. At least two masers and two candidates have been detected at 229.8 GHz. Thus, methanol masers have been detected in the 1-mm band for the first time. At 108.9 GHz, masers have been detected toward G345.01+1.79 and possibly toward M8E as well. Thermal emission was found toward 28 objects. The 229.8-GHz sources are class I masers, whereas the 108.9-GHz sources are class II masers. An analysis using a large velocity-gradient method shows that the 229.8-GHz masers can appear at densities of about 3×104 cm?3. The ratios of the flux densities in different class I lines toward DR 21(OH) and DR 21 West can be approximated in models with gas kinetic temperatures of about 50 K. Detection of the 108.9 GHz masers toward G345.01+1.79 and M8E may provide information about the geometry of these objects.  相似文献

Results of polarization observations of gas-dust condensations obtained on the Nançay radio telescope in the 1665 and 1667 MHz OH lines in all four Stokes parameters are reported. Seven OH maser sources associated with methanol masers were selected for this study. The goal was to estimate the magnetic fields in methanol condensations from the Zeeman splitting of OH maser lines associated with the methanol masers. The Gaussian parameters of features in the OH spectra are presented, and their polarization parameters are estimated: the degree of circular polarization m C , flux density in linear polarization p, and degree of linear polarization m L . The magnetic field intensity B has been estimated from the Zeeman splitting of the OH lines and approximation of the Stokes parameter V from the derivative of Stokes parameter I. B varies from ≤0.5 to 1.4 mG for different sources. The association of OH masers with methanol emission has been analyzed; the magnetic fields of OH masers in interstellar condensations associated with Class I methanol masers can be determined more reliably than the fields in interstellar condensations with OH masers associated with Class II methanol emission, and have higher values. The sizes of the studied regions suggest they may be bound structures such as Bok globules, small IRDC clouds, or protoplanetary disks.  相似文献

We have mapped three star-forming regions (G265.14+1.45, G269.16?1.14, G291.27?0.71) in the CS(3–2) and C34S(2–1) lines using the 15 m SEST telescope (Chile), and analyzed the relative positions of methanol and H2O masers, IRAS sources, and emission maxima in the CS lines. In most cases, the maser positions are close to those of the IRAS sources. We compared the radial velocities of the maser sources and high-density CS cores, and estimated the CS column densities assuming LTE. The sizes, densities, and masses of the dense core are estimated; the masses obtained in the LTE approximation agree with the virial masses.  相似文献

A new OH maser was detected in January 2008 toward the infrared source IRAS 05338-0624 in the dark cloud L1641N. The observations were carried out on the Nan cay Radio Telescope (France) in the 1667 and 1665 MHz OH lines. In the spectra of both lines, thermal OH emission from the surrounding molecular cloud is present at radial velocities V LSR = 6–9 km/s. In addition, a narrow maser feature is present in both lines at V LSR = 2 km/s in the profiles obtained on January 7, 2008; the peak flux densities at 1667 and 1665 MHz are 1.5 and 0.4 Jy, respectively. No OH maser emission was detected in February–July 2008. Then, a maser feature was again observed in the 1665 MHz line on August 20, 2008, at the same velocity as in January, V LSR = 2 km/s, with a peak flux density of 0.4 Jy. No 1667 MHz counterpart was observed with an upper limit of ~0.1 Jy. Emission in both OH lines was again absent on September 18. The source was also observed in the H2O line at λ = 1.35 cm on the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia) on February 7 and 13, 2008. In both cases, a maser feature was detected at V LSR = 9 km/s, with peak flux densities of 35 and 15 Jy, respectively. After the its apparent absence in April, H2O maser emission reappeared on May 14, 2008, at V LSR = 7 km/s with a flux density of about 15 Jy. The history of previous observations of the object in the OH and H2O lines is traced. The maser displays strong and rapid flux variability in the lines of both molecules, as is typical of young low-luminosity stellar objects at early stages of their evolution.  相似文献

The results of a study of the maser source G 10.623-0.383 in the λ = 1.35 cm H2O line using the 22-mradio telescope of the Pushchino Radio AstronomyObservatory (Russia) and in the main hydroxyl lines (λ = 18 cm) using the Nanзay Radio Telescope (France) are presented. Uncorrelated long-term variations of the integrated intensities and the velocity centroids with characteristic times of 11 yrs (mean value) and 32 yrs, respectively, are studied. The drift of the velocity centroid may be associated with maser condensations whose material is collapsing onto the OB cluster. It is shown that the H2O maser source contains maser condensation configurations on various scales over a long time, which evolve with time. OH maser emission was only detected in the main lines at 1665 and 1667 MHz. The flux densities of the strongest emission components were variable, but their radial velocities did not change. A Zeeman pair was found at 1667 MHz with a splitting of about 1.44 km/s, corresponding to a line-of-sight magnetic field of 4.1 mG, which was preserved over at least 25 years. The characteristics of the H2O andOHmaser variability suggests that the masers are located in different parts of G 10.623–0.383.  相似文献

Results of monitoring hydroxyl and water masers in the star-forming region S128 are presented. A large number of emission features in the 1665 MHz OH line have been detected in both circular polarizations. In spite of the strong variability of the flux density in the main 1665 MHz line, the radial velocities of the features remained constant. Zeeman splitting of the 1720MHz line equal to 0.86 km/s was detected, corresponding to a longitudinal magnetic field of 3.6 mG. The variability of the H2O emission has a cyclic character with a quasi-period of 4–14 yrs. The evolution of individual features confirms that the H2O sources A and B are associated with an ionization front between two colliding CO clouds, and shows that the activity was transferred from maser B to maser A in 1999–2001.  相似文献

A catalog of class I methanol masers discovered so far in the Southern and Northern hemispheres is presented. The catalog contains 160 sources. A statistical analysis shows that, within 2’ of the telescope pointing (which corresponds approximately to the field of view of single antennas used in search surveys), 50% of class I methanol masers are associated with objects characteristic of active starforming regions: IRAS sources, ultracompact HII regions, and dense gas—dust clouds, as well as OH and H2O interstellar masers. At the same time, bipolar outflows (which could play an active part in pumping the methanol masers) are associated with fewer than 25% of class I methanol masers. In 72% of cases, class I methanol masers are associated with class II methanol maser sources. These results suggest that methanol maser condensations are more appropriately classified by the transition type (that is, the pumping mechanism) than their association with other astronomical objects.  相似文献

We present the results of monitoring the H2O masers in the IR sources IRAS 18265-1517 and IRAS 18277-1516 associated with the cool molecular cloud L 379, which contains high-velocity bipolar molecular jets. The sources were observed in the 1.35 cm H2O line using the 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia) during 1991–2004. We detected H2O maser emission from IRAS 18265-1517 at radial velocities of 17.8 and 18.4 km/s, virtually coincident with the velocity of the molecular cloud derived from CO-line observations (18.4 km/s). The maser emission towards the other source, IRAS 18277-1516, was at higher velocities than the central velocity of the CO molecular cloud. The H2O maser spots are most likely associated with a redshifted region of CO emission. Cyclic variability of the integrated H2O maser emission that may be related to cyclic activity of the central star was detected for IRAS 18277-1516. The strongest and most long-lived component (VLSR ≈ 20.6 km/s) displays a radial-velocity drift, which could be due to deceleration of a dense clump of matter (maser condensation) in the circumstellar medium during the descending branch of a strong flare. We found numerous emission features for both IRAS 18265-1517 and IRAS 18277-1516, providing evidence for fragmentation of the medium surrounding their central objects.  相似文献

Results of a multi-faceted study of the H2O maser emission in the region ON2 N carried out on the Very Large Array (VLA, NRAO) and 22-m radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory are reported. The envelope around the ultracompact HII region is fairly extended and has a composite, strongly fragmented structure. The maser emission zone consists of single spots and spot clusters arranged along an arc, which is associated with a ram shock front. This shock front is nonsta-tionary, and its position changes with time. The front position probably depends on the state of activity of the central star. There can be turbulent motions of material in clusters as well as individual maser spots (such as turbulent vortices). In the turbulent-vortex model, the size of an H2O maser spot is estimated to be 0.07–0.1 AU. Flux-correlated radial-velocity drifts of emission features have been detected, which can be accompanied by spatial displacement (proper motion) of maser spots.  相似文献
