It is known that a special case of the Lagrangian of two identical charged particles up to fourth order terms has been found. The object of this paper is to derive the generalized Lagrangian by a scheme which is somewhat different from the one known. The equilibrium chemistry of silicon in dense interstellar clouds is discussed in terms of both gas phase and grain surface reactions. Unless the metal depletion is very large, the gas phase scheme tends to over-produce SiO and/or SiS when compared to the observations of Sgr B2. The scheme also predicts SiC to be an abundant form of silicon. There is a great need for relevant laboratory data on the reactions used here—of the 35 rate coefficients adopted in the scheme, only three have been measured in the laboratory. Reactions between positively charged gas phase ions and small grains can lead to the formation of SiO and SiS. This type of reaction seems to offer a simple explanation for the observed differences between sulphur and silicon chemistry in dense clouds.  相似文献

We have studied a new solution of charged gravastars with isotropic matter configuration in the framework of f(R, T) theory of gravity. For this purpose, we have assumed the electric charge as a constant. This stellar structure divided into three different regions: The preliminary part shows the interior charged region in which pressure equals to the negative density, second is the intermediate charged shell which is assumed to be very thin and filled with ultrarelativistic stiff fluid and the last corresponds to the electrovacuum region which is defined by an exterior Reissner-Nordström solution. Under these assumptions, we have found some physical aspects like length, energy, entropy and equation of state for charged spherical gravastar distribution. Moreover, we present an exact solution that free from event horizon and non-singular for this our new model.  相似文献

Using the tunneling method we derive the Hawking temperature of the nonextremal rotating charged black hole in the Gödel universe of five-dimensional minimal supergravity theory found by Wu. We successfully recovered the tunneling probability of charged Dirac particles and the expected Hawking temperature of the black hole, which is exactly consistent with that obtained by other methods.  相似文献

Energetic charged particles, which are often observed in solar active regions, may be also produced in interplanetary space due to the decoupling of ions and electrons in plasma. The Hall term in general Ohm's law is generally thought to be responsible for the decoupling of electrons and ions in plasma during magnetic reconnection. In this paper, a Hall MHD model is developed to study energetic charged particle events produced during fluctuations in the interplanetary magnetic field intensity. Two energetic charged particle events are used to test this model. It is concluded that the Hall effect does not only play the important role in the process of magnetic reconnection, but also in energetic charged particle events produced during fluctuations in the interplanetary magnetic field intensity.  相似文献

Numerical calculations of the electron cap shape of a rapidly rotating neutron star with a strong magnetic field have been provided. It is supposed that the magnetic dipole axis is aligned, and ejection of positive charged particles from the star's surface absent. The total charge of the star has been calculated. Estimation of the character of charged-particle motion in the electromagnetic field of the star has been obtained. It is shown that two streams of charged particles escape from the star surface. The electron stream moves along the magnetic axis. The electron stream is enveloped by proton-positron stream, which is generated by returning hard electrons accelerated by electromagnetic field of the star.  相似文献

We study the physics of wave propagation in a weakly ionized plasma, as it applies to the formation of multifluid, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) shock waves. We model the plasma as separate charged and neutral fluids which are coupled by ion–neutral friction. At times much less than the ion–neutral drag time, the fluids are decoupled and so evolve independently. At later times, the evolution is determined by the large inertial mismatch between the charged and neutral particles. The neutral flow continues to evolve independently; the charged flow is driven by and slaved to the neutral flow by friction. We calculate this driven flow analytically by considering the special but realistic case where the charged fluid obeys linearized equations of motion. We carry out an extensive analysis of linear, driven, MHD waves. The physics of driven MHD waves is embodied in certain Green functions which describe wave propagation on short time-scales, ambipolar diffusion on long time-scales and transitional behaviour at intermediate times. By way of illustration, we give an approximate solution for the formation of a multifluid shock during the collision of two identical interstellar clouds. The collision produces forward and reverse J shocks in the neutral fluid and a transient in the charged fluid. The latter rapidly evolves into a pair of magnetic precursors on the J shocks, wherein the ions undergo force-free motion and the magnetic field grows monotonically with time. The flow appears to be self-similar at the time when linear analysis ceases to be valid.  相似文献

Observations by several instruments onboard the Cassini spacecraft revealed the existence of heavy hydrocarbon and nitrile species with masses of several thousand atomic mass units in the ionosphere of Titan. These very large molecules are in fact aerosols. The goal of this paper is to compute the concentrations of the charged aerosols in the upper atmosphere (950-1200 km) of Titan. The charging of these aerosols has been studied using the charge balance equations, where positive ions, negative ions, electrons, neutral and charged aerosols are included. Number concentrations of charged aerosols are compared with those observed by the Cassini instruments. The present work estimates the aerosol mass density as 1-10 kg/m3, which is within the predicted range. The results show that the aerosols must be smaller than 10 nm in order to have reasonable agreement with observations by the Cassini Plasma Spectrometer.  相似文献

Dust grains expelled by radiation pressure of stars are charged to potentials in the range 30–40 V in Hi clouds. These grains may be responsible for the following phenomena which are otherwise hardly explicable. (1) A considerable fraction of electrons knocked-out by charged grains of high speeds have energies around 15 eV and produce singly ionized ions but not doubly ionized ones in accord with an ultraviolet observation of interstellar atoms and ions. (2) Transverse momentum transferred to grains by Coulomb scattering of ambient electrons and protons is greater than that by multiple scattering of cosmic ray protons, thus the former being more effective for the grain alignment than the latter. (3) At a shock front charge separation due to a large inertial mass of grains produces an electric field, thus accelerating charged particles and causing a drift of interstellar matter.  相似文献

The dynamics of a slowly rotating charged viscous-fluid Universe coupled with a zero-mass scalar field is investigated; and the rotational perturbations of such models are studied in order to substantiate the possibility that the Universe is endowed with slow rotation, in the course of presentation of several new analytic solutions. The effects of charged field and scalar field on the rotational motion are discussed. Except for perfect dragging, the scalar field as well as the charged field is found to have a damping effect on the rotation of matter. Rotating models which are expanding as well are obtained, in which cases the rotational velocities are found to decay with the time, and these models may be taken as good examples of real astrophysical situations. The periods of physical validity of different models are also obtained.  相似文献

A body moving in an ionized atmosphere acquires an electric charge through the processes of accretion of charged particles and emission of electrons by high energy photons. The moving charged body may then interact with the charged particles of the atmosphere and any pervading magnetic field to excite plasma waves. Of particular interest is the situation in which the body collects an ionized cloud in front of it. The motion of this ionized cloud in the atmosphere induces an electrostatic instability and causes a column of ionized gas to move ahead of the body. The electrostatic instability is conducive to the excitation of electrostatic oscillations which if already present are further enhanced. A magnetic field along the direction of motion assists in the formation of the ionized cloud. If the pervading magnetic field is of suitable weak strength, it may excite extraordinary electromagnetic waves. A pervading transverse magnetic field of suitable strength may cause the excitation of magnetohydrodynamic waves.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the dynamics of the electrostatic disruption products of fragile interplanetary dust aggregates which are initially electrically charged on entering the Jovian plasmasphere. On account of their large specific charges, these small dust fragments are strongly effected both by the Lorentz electric force as well as by the polarization electric force resulting from the corotation of the Jovian plasmasphere. The detailed orbits of these charged dust fragments, which are shown to be confined to the equatorial plane, are computed for various launch angles. It is established that the fragments with radii typically around 1 are magneto-gravitationally trapped within the plasma sphere due to the velocity induced oscillation of their surface potentials. The spatial distribution of these fragments are evaluated and the time evolution of the distributions followed. On this basis it is argued that the distribution of micrometeoroid dust within the Jovian magnetospheres, observed by the Pioneer 10 and the recent Voyager spacecraft, is a result of this magneto-gravitational trapping and subsequent orbital evolution of these charged dust fragments. Our discussion includes both the sudden increase, by over an order of magnitude, of the micrometeoroid dust flux at about 30R J observed by Pioneer 10, and the thin inner dust ring recently observed by the Voyaer spacecraft. The observed brightness asymmetries between the leading and trailing sides of the Galilean satellites appears to be a natural consequence of the impact geometries of these charged dust grains with the satellite surfaces.  相似文献

We suggest that spokes consist of charged micron-sized dust particles elevated from the rings by radially moving dense plasma columns created by meteor impacts on the ring. Dense plasma causes electrostatic wall-sheaths at the ring and charging of the ring with electric fields strong enough to overcome the gravitational force on small dust particles. Under “ordinary” conditions only very few dust particles will be elevated as the probability of a dust particle having at least one excess electronic charge is very low. Dense plasma raises this probability significantly. The radial motion of the plasma column is due to an azimuthal polarization electric field built up by the relative motion between the corotating plasma and the negatively charged dust particles which move with a Keplerian speed.  相似文献

We investigate the Fokker-Planck equations (non-relativistic case) for the interaction between magnetic monopoles and charged particles. We find that, the collision integral in this case is also logarithmically divergent, showing that the main effect is still produced by far encounters. We give, for thermal equilibrium, expressions for the three relaxation times. Compared with the well-known expressions for charged particles, these are generally amplified by a factor (light velocity/thermal velocity)2, showing that, under ordinary conditions, the interaction between monopoles and charged particles is negligible but that, under certain astrophysical conditions, it is not. In the latter case, the MHD equations must be modified accordingly and the modified equations are given.  相似文献

We discuss short wavelength (inertial wave) instabilities present in the standard two-fluid neutron star model when there is sufficient relative flow along the superfluid neutron vortex array. We demonstrate that these instabilities may be triggered in precessing neutron stars, since the angular velocity vectors of the neutron and proton fluids are misaligned during precession. Our results suggest that the standard (Eulerian) slow precession that results for weak drag between the vortices and the charged fluid (protons and electrons) is not seriously affected by the instability. In contrast, the fast precession, which results when vortices are strongly coupled to the charged component, is generally unstable. The presence of this instability renders the standard (solid body) rotation model for free precession inconsistent and makes unsafe conclusions that have recently been drawn regarding neutron star interiors based on observations of precession in radio pulsars.  相似文献

We consider the acceleration of charged particles by the Fermi mechanism on magnetic field irregularities in active galactic regions. The relativistic particles are shown to be accelerated most efficiently, while the acceleration of nonrelativistic particles by this mechanism is possible only in highly nonuniform galactic nuclei, that is, in nuclei with strong turbulization. The conditions for the acceleration of charged particles in active galactic nuclei at various stages of their evolution are investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, we employ cut and paste scheme to construct thin-shell wormhole of a charged black string with f(R) terms. We consider f(R) model as an exotic matter source at wormhole throat. The stability of the respective solutions are analyzed under radial perturbations in the context of R+δR 2 model. It is concluded that both stable as well as unstable solutions do exist for different values of δ. In the limit δ→0, all our results reduce to general relativity.  相似文献

Neutron star inner cores with several charged baryonic components are likely to be analogues of the two-gap superconductor which is of current interest in condensed-matter physics. Consequently, type I superconductivity is less probable than type II but may nevertheless be present in some intervals of matter density. The intermediate-state structure formed at finite magnetic flux densities after the superconducting transitions is subject to buoyancy, frictional and neutron vortex interaction forces. These are estimated and it is shown that the most important frictional force is that produced by the stable stratification of neutron star matter, the irreversible process being diffusion in the normal, finite magnetic flux density, parts of the structure. The length-scale of the structure, in directions perpendicular to the local magnetic field is of crucial importance. For small scales, the flux comoves with the neutron vortices, as do the proton vortices of a type II superconductor. But for much larger length-scales, flux movement tends to that expected for normal charged Fermi systems.  相似文献
