A theoretical approach to the calcite ? aragonite transformation is presented for the case of a dislocation glide mechanism obeying first-order kinetics. The kinetic parameters are determined from recent experimental data from the literature; the sensitivity of the model to these and other parameters like the grain size and the deviatoric stresses are discussed. The model results in the definition of what could be the actual transformation domains of the CaCO3 polymorphs in the (P,T) plane. These domains are different from the classical ones, i.e. different from the stability fields defined with respect to Clapeyron's curve; they can evolve in the (P,T) plane when a deviatoric stress is applied to the system. In this case, we can define a domain in which the two senses of the calcite ? aragonite transition are activated simultaneously. The application of the model to laboratory experiments needs the integration of the kinetic differential equation (K varying withP andT). Using this method, we demonstrate the role of (P,T,t) path on reaction rate and the role of experimental uncertainties on the reaction parametersK andn. Finally, we discuss the problem of the synthesis of polymorphs out of their stability field and of their formation by grinding; these problems, difficult to tackle in terms of diffusion, can be approached with the proposed dislocation transformation kinetic model.  相似文献

The activation coefficient equations in the"activation criterion of pre-existing weakness"are relatively complex and not easy to apply to specific applications. The relative activity of pre-existing weaknesses is often critical in geological analysis. The Mohr circle can be used only in two-dimensional stress analysis.By applying the"activation criterion of pre-existing weakness"and combining it with numerical analysis,we establish the correspondence between the pole(n,n)of a pre-existing weakness plane and its orientation in"Mohr space".As a result, the normal stress(n)and shear stress(n)of a pre-existing weakness plane can be readily expressed in Mohr space.Furthermore,we introduce the method and procedures for predicting the activation and relative activation of pre-existing weaknesses in Mohr space. Finally,we apply the Mohr space method and compare the predictions to sandbox modeling results and 3D seismic data. The results show that Mohr space can be used in stress analysis to estimate the activation of a pre-existing weakness in any triaxial stress state.  相似文献

The melting curve of forsterite has been studied by static experiment up to a pressure of 15 GPa. Forsterite melts congruently at least up to 12.7 GPa. The congruent melting temperature is expressed by the Kraut-Kennedy equation in the following form: Tm(K)=2163 (1+3.0(V0 ? V)/V0), where the volume change with pressure was calculated by the Birch-Managhan equation of state with the isothermal bulk modulus K0 = 125.4 GPa and its pressure derivative K′ = 5.33. The triple point of forsterite-β-Mg2SiO4-liquid will be located at about 2600°C and 20 GPa, assuming that congruent melting persists up to the limit of the stability field of forsterite. The extrapolation of the previous melting data on enstatite and periclase indicates that the eutectic composition of the forsterite-enstatite system should shift toward the forsterite component with increasing pressure, and there is a possibility of incongruent melting of forsterite into periclase and liquid at higher pressure, although no evidence on incongruent melting has been obtained in the present experiment.  相似文献

The elastic moduli of single-crystal CaF2, SrF2 and BaF2 have been determined by the ultrasonic pulse superposition technique as a function of temperature from T = 298 to T = 650°K. These new data are consistent with other data obtained by ultrasonic pulse techniques in the region of room temperature and are superior to previous high-temperature data from resonance experiments. The elastic moduli (c) are represented by quadratic functions in T over the experimental temperature range with the curvature in the same sense for all the moduli. Evaluation of the temperature derivatives of the elastic moduli at constant volume indicates that the dominant temperature effect is extrinsic for (?KS/?T)P and intrinsic for (/?T)P, where KS and μ are the isotropic bulk and shear moduli, respectively. For the series CaF2SrF2BaF2, |(?c/?T)p| decreases with increasing molar volume for all moduli; however there are no theoretical or empirical grounds on which to derive a simple relationship between (?c/?T)P and crystallographic parameters.  相似文献

On 23 October 2011 at 1341 local time, a strong earthquake (Mw?=?7.1) occurred east of Lake Van (KOERI; Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute). The focal parameters of the main shock and 29 aftershocks with M?≥?4.0 were obtained from regional broadband seismic data from KOERI network by using Regional Moment Tensor Inversion Code (Dreger 2002). It is confirmed that the main shock had thrust faulting mechanism. The stress tensor analysis was completed using the focal mechanism solutions and the software developed by (Gephart Comp Geosci 16: 953-989, 1990). The maximum principal stress (P compressional) of the main shock is aligned in a N-S (NNW/SSE) direction and the tensional axis (T dilatation) is aligned in an E-W (ENE-WSW) direction. The b value is calculated as 0.96 using the maximum likelihood method (Utsu 1999).  相似文献

The variation of the point-defect concentrations with oxygen partial pressure, PO2, and temperature are derived for forsterite, Mg2SiO4, and Mg-rich olivine (Mg,Fe)2SiO4 assuming the cation/cation ratios are fixed. These dependencies differ from the open-system situation in which matter is easily transferable between forsterite or olivine and other solid phases. The details depend on whether the cation/cation ratio is exactly stoichiometric, or, if non-stoichiometric, the nature of the majority defects at precise oxygen stoichiometry. One generality which emerges is that regardless of the cation/cation stoichiometry the dominant defects in forsterite at low PO2 are free electrons, Mg and Si interstitials; at high PO2 the majority defects are holes, Mg and Si vacancies. In Mg-rich olivine the same defect species exist at the extremes of oxygen partial pressure with the exception of trivalent Fe on Mg sites replacing holes. At low PO2, therefore, both behave as n-type conductors. The models also suggest that in the PO2 range around precise oxygen stoichiometry the electrical conductivity in both materials can be a complex function of PO2.  相似文献

It is shown that there is linearity between the thermal pressure PTH and T between the Debye temperature θ and some high temperature T1. T1 has been measured at 1 atm and is reported for several minerals including, for example, MgO (1300 K) and forsterite (1200 K). The change in thermal pressure from room temperature for five solids, so far measured, indicate striking linearity with T at high temperatures. It is further shown that the value of T1 increases greatly as the pressure increases. It is therefore concluded that PTH is probably linear with T for mantle minerals under mantle conditions. The proportionality constant is derived from the measurements of thermal expansivity and bulk modulus at high temperature and zero pressure. The argument is then reversed. Assuming that the thermal pressure is in fact linear with T for the various shells in a planet, the resulting density and temperature profile of the planet is derived. The resulting density profile of the Earth compares favorably with corresponding values of recent seismic profiles.  相似文献

Rock masses contain ubiquitous multiscale heterogeneities, which (or whose boundaries) serve as the surfaces of discontinuity for some characteristics of the stress state, e.g., for the orientation of principal stress axes. Revealing the regularities that control these discontinuities is a key to understanding the processes taking place at the boundaries of the heterogeneities and for designing the correct procedures for reconstructing and theoretical modeling of tectonic stresses. In the present study, the local laws describing the refraction of the axes of extreme principal stresses T 1 (maximal tension in the deviatoric sense) and T 3 (maximal compression) of the Cauchy stress tensor at the transition over the elementary area n of discontinuity whose orientation is specified by the unit normal n are derived. It is assumed that on the area n of discontinuity, frictional contact takes place. No hypotheses are made on the constitutive equations, and a priori constraints are not posed on the orientation on the stress axes. Two domains, which adjoin area n on the opposite sides and are conventionally marked + and ?, are distinguished. In the case of the two-dimensional (2D) stress state, any principal stress axis on passing from domain ? to domain + remains in the same quadrant of the plane as the continuation of this axis in domain +. The sign and size of the refraction angle depend on the sign and amplitude of the jump of the normal stress, which is tangential to the surface of discontinuity. In the three-dimensional (3D) case, the refraction of axes T 1 and T 3 should be analyzed simultaneously. For each side, + and ?, the projections of the T 1 and T 3 axes on the generally oriented plane n form the shear sectors S + and S ?, which are determined unambiguously and to whose angular domains the possible directions p + and p ? of the shear stress vectors belong. In order for the extreme stress axes T 1 + ,T 3 + and T 1 ? , T 3 ? to be statically compatible on the generally oriented plane n, it is required that sectors S + and S ? had a nonempty intersection. The direction vectors p + and p ? are determined uniquely if, besides axes T 1 ? , T 3 ? and T 1 + , T 3 + , also the ratios of differential stresses R + and R ? (0 ≤ R ± ≤ 1) are known. This is equivalent to specifying the reduced stress tensors T R + and T R ? The necessary condition for tensors T R + and T R ? being statically compatible on plane n is the equality p + = p ?. In this paper, simple methods are suggested for solving the inverse problem of constructing the set of the orientations of the extreme stress axes from the known direction p of the shear stress vector on plane n and from the data on the shear sector. Based on these methods and using the necessary conditions of local equilibrium on plane n formulated above, all the possible orientations of axes T 1 + , T 3 + are determined if the projections of axes T 1 ? , T 3 ? axes on side — are given. The angle between the projections of axes T 1 + , T 1 ? and/or T 3 + , T 3 ? on the plane can attain 90°. Besides the general case, also the particular cases of the contact between the degenerate stress states and the special position of plane n relative to the principal stress axes are thoroughly examined. Generalization of the obtained results makes it possible to plot the local diagram of the orientations of axes T 1 + , T 3 + for a given sector S ?. This diagram is a so-called stress orientation sphere, which is subdivided into three pairs of areas (compression, tension, and compression-extension). The tension and compression zones cannot contain the poles of T 3 + and T 1 + axes, respectively. The compression-extension zones can contain the poles of either T 1 + or T 3 + axis but not both poles simultaneously. In the particular case when the shear stress vector has a unique direction p ? on side ?, the areas of compression-extension disappear and the diagram is reduced to a beach-ball plot, which visualizes the focal mechanism solution of an earthquake. If area n is a generally oriented plane and if the orientation of the pairs of the statically compatible axes T 1 ? , T 3 ? and T 1 + , T 3 + is specified, then, the stress values on side + are uniquely determined from the known stress values on side ?. From the value of differential stress ratio R ?, one can calculate the value of R +, and using the values of the principal stresses on side ?, determine the total stress tensor T + on side +. The obtained results are supported by the laboratory experiments and drilling data. In particular, these results disclose the drawbacks of some established notions and methods in which the possible refraction of the stress axes is unreasonably ignored or taken into account improperly. For example, it is generally misleading to associate the slip on the preexisting fault with the orientation of any particular trihedron of the principal stress axes. The reconstruction should address the potentially statically compatible principal stress axes, which are differently oriented on opposite sides of the fault plane. The fact that, based on the orientation of the intraplate principal stresses at the base of the lithosphere, one cannot make a conclusion on the active or passive influence of the mantle flows on the lithospheric plate motion is another example. The present relationships linking the stress values on the opposite sides of the fault plane on which the orientations of the principal stress axes are known demonstrate the incorrectness of the existing methods, in which the reduced stress tensors within the material domains are reconstructed without allowance for the dynamic interaction of these domains with their neighbors. In addition, using the obtained results, one can generalize the notion of the zone of dynamical control of a fault onto the case of the existence of discontinuities in this region and analyze the stress transfer across the system of the faults.  相似文献

Repeat times of strong shallow mainshocks have been determined by the use of instrumental and historical data for 68 seismogenic sources in the Aegean and surrounding area (34°N–43°N, 18°E–30°E). For 49 of these sources at least two interevent times (three mainshocks) are available for each source. By using the repeat times for these 49 sources the following relation has been determined: $$\log T_t = 0.36M_{\min } + 0.35M_p + a$$ whereT t is the repeat time, measured in years,M p the surface wave magnitude of the preceding mainshock,M min the magnitude of the smallest earthquake considered and “a” parameter which varies from source to source. A multilinear correlation coefficient equal to 0.89 was determined for this relation. By using the same repeat times for the 49 seismogenic sources, the following relation has been determined between the magnitude,M f , of the following mainshock andM min andM p . $$M_f = 0.95M_{\min } - 0.49M_p + m$$ wherem is a constant which varies from source to source. A multilinear correlation coefficient equal to 0.80 was found for this relation. The model expressed by these two relations is represented by a scheme of a time variation of stress under constant tectonic loading. In this scheme, the maximum stress values during the different seismic cycles fluctuate around a value, τ1, in a relatively narrow stress interval, expressing the high correlation coefficient of the relation between LogT andM p . On the contrary, the minimum stress values fluctuate around a value, τ2, in a much broader stress interval. However, each of these minimum stress values becomes lower or higher than τ2 if the previous one is higher or lower than τ2, respectively, expressing the negative correlation betweenM f andM p .  相似文献

Thirty-one single crystals of synthetic forsterite, Fo100, were deformed in 69 compressional creep tests in a 0.1-MPa confining atmosphere of H2 + Ar. Temperature ranged from 1753 to 2023 K and stress σ (= σ1 - σ3) from 1.5 to 37.8 MPa. Steady-state creep under these conditions follows an empirical law of the form: strain rate ?? = Azigma;nexp(?QRT) where A, n, and Q are constants. General characteristics of Fo100 creep — uniformity of strain, shape change as a function of orientation of σ, relative deformation resistance of different orientations — match those of natural olivine single crystals of composition Fo92. Specific constants in the flow law, however, are distinctly new: for σ oriented along [111]c (equidistant from the three principal crystallographic axes), values for Fo100 are n = 2.9 ± 0.2 and Q = 0.67 ± 0.03 MJ/mol (160 ± 7 kcal/mol). A single law covers the range 3 < σ < 30 MPa and 1753 < T < 1953 K. Steady-state deformation is preceded by a transient period of strain softening. High strain rates at σ ? 10 MPa render the transient barely resolvable; it apparently displaces the steady-state flow law by approximately ?0.5% in strain. At σ ? 7.8 MPa, the amount of strain imparted to a sample of the [101]c orientation is typically <0.1% after one hour.  相似文献

A new method for obtaining from volcanic surface features the orientations of the principal tectonic stresses is applied to Aleutian and Alaskan volcanoes. The underlying concept for this method is that flank eruptions for polygenetic volcanoes can be regarded as the result of a large-scale natural magmafracturing experiment. The method essentially relies on the recognition of the preferred orientation of radial and parallel dike swarms, primarily using the distribution of monogenetic craters including flank volcanoes. Since dikes tend to propagate in a direction normal to the minimum principal stress (T-axis), the method primarily yields the direction of the maximum horizontal compression (MHC) of regional origin. The direction of the MHC may correspond to either the maximum (P-axis) or intermediate (B-axis) principal stress. The direction of MHC obtained at 20 volcanoes in the Aleutian arc coincides well with the direction of convergence between the Pacific and North American plates. This result provides evidence that in the island arc the inferred direction of MHC is parallel to the maximum principal tectonic stress. In the back-arc region, general E-W trends of MHC are obtained from seven volcanic fields on islands on the Bering Sea shelf and the mainland coast of Alaska. These volcanic fields consist mostly of clusters of monogenetic volcanoes of alkali basalt. In the back-arc region, the trends of MHC may correspond to an E-W intermediate, a vertical maximum, and a N-S minimum principal stress.Implications for the tectonics of island arcs and back-arc regions are: (1) volcanic belts of some island arcs, including the Aleutian arc, are under compressional deviatoric stress in the direction of plate convergence. It is improbable that such arcs would split along the volcanic axis to form actively spreading marginal basins. (2) This compressional stress at the arc, probably generated by underthrusting, appears to be transmitted across the entire arc structure, but is apparently replaced within several hundred kilometers by a stress system characterized by horizontal extension (tensional deviatoric stress) in the back-arc region. (3) The volcanoes associated with these two stress systems differ in type (polygenetic vs. monogenetic) and in the chemistry of their magmas (andesitic vs. basaltic). These differences and the regional differences in orientation of the principal tectonic stresses suggest that the back-arc stress system has its own source at considerable depth beneath the crust.Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory Contribution No. 2503.  相似文献

Since the 1990s, many meteorological stations in China have passively “entered” cities, which has led to frequent relocation and discontinuity in observational records at many stations. To study the impacts of urbanization on surface air temperature series, 52 meteorological stations in Anhui Province were chosen based firstly on a homogeneity test of the time series, and then their surrounding underlying surfaces during different decades were identified utilizing Landsat Multispectral Scanner images from the 1970s, Landsat Thematic Mapper images from 1980s and 1990s, and Enhanced Thematic Mapper images after 2000, to determine whether or not the station “entered” city, and then these stations were categorized into three groups: urban, suburban, and rural using Landsat-measured land use/land cover (LULC) around the station. Finally, variations in annual mean air temperature (T mean), maximum air temperature (T max), and minimum air temperature (T min) were analyzed in urban-type stations and compared to their surrounding rural-type stations. The results showed that, in Anhui Province over the past two decades, many rural stations experienced urbanization and changed into urban or suburban locations. This process is referred as the “city-entering” phenomena of stations. Consequently, many of the latest stations were relocated and moved to currently rural and suburban areas, which significantly influenced the continuity of observational records and the homogeneity of long-term trends. Based on homogeneous data series, the averaged annual T mean, T max, and T min over Anhui Province increased at a rate of 0.407, 0.383 and 0.432 °C decade?1 from 1970 to 2008. The strongest effect of urbanization on annual T mean, T max, and T min trends occurred at urban stations, with corresponding contributions of 35.824, 14.286, and 45.161 % to total warming, respectively. This work provides convincing evidences that (1) urban expansion has important impacts on the evaluation of regional climate change, (2) high spatial resolution images of Landsat are very useful for selecting reference climate stations for evaluating the potential urban bias in the surface air temperature data in certain regions of the continents, and (3) meteorological observation adjustments of station-relocation-induced inhomogeneities are essential for the study of regional or global climate change.  相似文献

In this paper, the relations of the changes of earth resistivity (ρ) s recorded at 100 geoelectrical stations in 31 earthquakes occurred in the continent of China, to the active faults (active abyssal faults or badly active faults near the focal zone) and the causative stress fields are discussed and the following conclusions are obtained:
  1. On the condition that a station is near the active fault and in the direction of the causative stress (DCS) of an earthquake (EQ), the immediate variation ofρ s to the earthquake (called “immediate variation” for short) could be recorded generally at the station.
  2. The active fault which lies between a station and the epicenter of an earthquake seems to play a role in “obstructing” the recording of the imminent variation when the strike of the fault is close to the DCS of the earthquake. When that is parrallel with the DCS the “obstructing” function of the fault is strongest; when normal with the DCS, weakest.
The regularity seems to have the universality for moderate earthquakes and strong ones occurred in the continent of China.  相似文献

207Pb/206Pb of “low temperature sited” (LTS) lead as reported by Silver (1975) increases with40Ar/36Ar of trapped argon in thirteen samples from lunar maria. This strongly supports an earlier conclusion by (1972) that large (40Ar/36Ar)T ratios represent ancient regolith records, and provides a rough (40Ar/36Ar)T timescale. The erasure of (40Ar/36Ar)T records in surface soils by the excavation of deep-seated, “fresh” bedrock and by erosion of particle surfaces via ion sputtering must have been counteracted by conserving processes in the regolith. Two such processes are relatively well understood: agglutinate formation and the excavation and comminution of soil breccias which have preserved an ancient (40Ar/36Ar)T record. The frequency distribution of (40Ar/36Ar)T in 82 “soils” from all Apollo missions suggests a third process, which requires that sizeable “pockets” of ancient regolith materials including soils have survived deep turnover for billions of years.Large-scale mobility of LTS lead throughout all of the regolith does not appear to occur.Inert gas ions with sufficient energy for trapping may have reached the lunar surface more than 3 b.y. ago.The Apollo 11 microbreccias appear to have been formed more than 3 b.y. ago from regoliththen extant on the surface.  相似文献

The relationships between the intrusion of gneissose granitoids and the attainment of regional high‐T conditions recorded in metamorphic rocks from the Ryoke belt of the Mikawa area, central Japan, are explored. Seven gneissose granitoid samples (tonalite, granodiorite, granite) were collected from three distinct plutonic bodies that are mapped as the so‐called “Older Ryoke granitoids.” Based on bulk‐rock compositions and U–Pb zircon ages obtained by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, the analyzed granitoids can be separated into two groups. Gneissose granitoids from the northern part of the area give weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages of 99 ±1 Ma (two samples) and 95 ±1 Ma (one sample), whereas those from the southern part yield 81 ±1 Ma (two samples) and 78–77 ±1 Ma (two samples). Regional comparisons allow correlation of the northern granitoids (99–95 Ma) with the Kiyosaki granodiorite, and mostly with the Kamihara tonalite found to the east. The southern granitoids are tentatively renamed as “78–75 Ma (Hbl)?Bt granite” and “81–75 Ma Hbl?Bt tonalite” (Hbl, hornblende; Bt, biotite). and seem to be broadly coeval members of the same magmatic suite. With respect to available age data, no gneissose granitoid from the Mikawa area shows a U–Pb zircon age which matches that of high‐T metamorphism (ca 87 Ma). The southern gneissose granitoids (81–75 Ma), although they occur in the highest‐grade metamorphic zone, do not seem to represent the heat source which produced the metamorphic field gradient with a low dP/dT slope.  相似文献

Abstract

Methods were evaluated for interpolating precipitation (P), evapotranspiration (ET), and runoff (RO) at ungauged points on Shikoku Island, Japan, using data gathered from gauged stations on the same island. Two methods were examined: a “local” cubic spline interpolator, which, for a given point, fitted the function exactly to nearby gauged data points; and a “global” multivariate regression interpolator, which fitted the function to all gauged data points based on their topographic positions (i.e. latitude, longitude, altitude). Local and global interpolators did not generate similar results for P and temperature (T). The spatial density of gauged data points used in the interpolation affected the performance of the interpolators. With any given density of gauged data points included in the interpolation, the local interpolator outperformed the global interpolator. The findings indicate that local interpolators are more accurate predictors of the spatial distribution of water balance components in mountainous regions such as Shikoku Island.  相似文献

In the semi‐arid region of the Loess Plateau in China, a portable photosynthesis system (Li‐6400) and a portable steady porometer (Li‐1600) were used to study the quantitative relation between the soil water content (SWC) and trees' physiological parameters including net photosynthesis rate (Pn), carboxylation efficiency (CE), transpiration rate (Tr), water use efficiency of leaf (WUEL), stomatic conductivity (Gs), stomatal resistance (Rs), intercellular CO2 (Ci), and stomatal limitation (Ls). These are criteria for grading and evaluating soil water productivity and availability in forests of Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) and Oriental Arborvitae (Platycladus orientalis). The results indicated: To the photosynthesis of Locust and Arborvitae, the SWC of less than 4.5 and 4.0% (relative water content (RWC) 21.5 and 19.0%) belong to “non‐productivity and non‐efficiency water”; the SWC of 4.5–10.0% (RWC 21.5–47.5%) and 4.0–8.5% (RWC 19.0–40.5%) belong to “low productivity and low efficiency water”; the SWC of 10.0–13.5% (RWC 47.5–64.0%) and 8.5–11.0% (RWC 40.5–52.0%) belong to “middle productivity and high efficiency water”; the SWC of 13.5–17.0% (RWC 64.0–81.0%) and 11.0–16.0% (RWC 52.0–76.0%) belong to “high productivity and middle efficiency water”; the SWC of 17.0–19.0% (RWC 81.0–90.5%) and 16.0–19.0% (RWC 76.0–90.5%) belong to “middle productivity and low efficiency water”; the SWC of more than 19.0% (RWC 90.5%) belongs to “low productivity and low efficiency water”. The SWC of about 13.5 and 11.0% (RWC 64.0 and 52.0%) are called “high productivity and high efficiency water”, which provides the further evidence for Locust and Arborvitae to get both higher productivity (Pn and CE) and the highest WUEL and adaptation to the local environment, respectively.  相似文献

Solvi and liquidi for various LiFMgF2 mixtures have been determined at pressures up to 40 kbar by differential-thermal-analysis in a piston-cylinder high-pressure device. The melting curves of pure LiF and MgF2 were also studied and the initial slopes (dTm/dP)P = 0 were found to be 11.2 and 8.3°C/kbar, respectively. The eutectic composition (LiF)0.64(MgF2)0.36 is independent of pressure to 35 kbar and the eutectic temperature rises approximately 6.3°C per kbar. Initial slopes of 11°C/kbar and 35°C/kbar are inferred for the melting curves of MgO and SiO2 (stishovite) respectively, on the basis of data for their structural analogue compounds. The observed solid solution of LiF in MgF2 and other evidence suggest the possibility of solid solution in the system (Mg,Fe)OSiO2 (stishovite) under mantle conditions which may have important consequences for the elastic properties of a “mixed-oxide” zone of the earth's mantle.  相似文献

— A novel seismic moment tensor inversion approach is applied to microseismic events from the Kidd mine with moment magnitudes ranging between ?1.2 and 0. Data consist of 35 events recorded on 8 triaxial accelerometers installed underground. Reliable solutions are obtained for 21 events, of which 14 represent pure shear mechanisms, whereas the remaining 7 exhibit a significant positive volumetric component (72–76%), along with some pure shear failure (15–20%). Further analysis indicates that 6 of the events characterized by high volumetric components are located within a sill pillar on the 4,700 level and have subvertical P and subhorizontal T axes. This is in agreement with the presence of tensile cracks close to openings for incipient pillar bursting. The pure shear events are located outside the sill pillar, between the 4,600 and 4,800 levels, and on the 5,600 level within a highly fractured rockmass. For the latter events, the subvertical nodal planes are found to match closely the orientation of subvertical NW-SE fractures aligned parallel to the major faults in the area.  相似文献

The elastic moduli of single-crystal LiF and NaF have been determined by the ultrasonic pulse superposition technique as a function of temperature from T = 298–650° K. These new data are consistent with low-temperature (T < 298° K) data obtained by other ultrasonic pulse techniques and are superior to previous high-temperature data from resonance experiments. The elastic moduli (c) are represented by quadratic functions in T over the experimental temperature range although the curvature is not in the same sense for all modes. For LiF, NaF, MgO and CaO, evaluation of the temperature derivatives of the elastic moduli at constant volume (V) indicates that the elastic moduli are only weakly dependent on T at constant volume. The fluoride—oxide analogue pair LiFMgO both exhibit high-temperature elastic behaviour at approximately the same absolute temperature. Mitskevich's theory and observed KS-V systematics imply that (?c/?T)P should be a function of the nearest neighbour distance for rocksalt fluorides and oxides; this result lends further support to a fluorideoxide modelling scheme based on similar ionic radii.  相似文献
