SOME RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN NON-TOPOGRAPHIC PHOTOGRAMMETRY

Equipment manufactured in connexion with the special applications of photogrammetry has developed from very early designs, often with remarkably few changes. The first section of the paper traces this evolution up to the present time. Architectural photogrammetry has been, since Meydenbauer, one of the most important of these special applications and the second part describes some recent work of this type in England and Jordan.     

USES OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN THE STUDY OF BUILDINGS

The author describes the photogrammetric equipment in use by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (England), the methods used and the work that is being done in architectural recording. The difficulties and the possibilities of future architectural work in the United Kingdom are discussed and the achievements of some other countries in this field are reviewed.     

THE CURRENT INVOLVEMENT OF IGN IN PHOTOGRAMMETRY

A review of some recent activities undertaken by the Institut Géographique National, France (IGN) in photogrammetry is given in this paper, especially with regard to digital and space data processing, assessment of SPOT images and the development of new instruments and experimental map products. The main topics considered can be divided into three groups: aerial surveying, digital photogrammetry and space photogrammetry (including the possibility of further planetary missions).

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN THE NORTH SEA

Underwater photogrammetry is being used in the particularly hostile environment of the North Sea where it has been put into commercially viable operation. The authors discuss underwater photogrammetry related to other means of inspection of oil platforms. They also deal with operational experience of 35 mm and 70 mm cameras, camera calibration, the provision of control and photogrammetric observations and data analysis. The demand for underwater photogrammetry continues to grow.     

THE ROLE OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN THE NATIONAL MAPPING ACTIVITIES OF THE ORDNANCE SURVEY OF NORTHERN IRELAND

Since 1960, photogrammetry has played a leading role in the acquisition of survey data within the Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland. The decision to create a digital topographic database for Northern Ireland has changed the philosophy and practice of photogrammetry within the organisation and these changes are discussed in this paper.

介绍利用航空遥感技术进行佛山城市建设现状综合调查的概况。包括城市土地利用现状调查,建成区建筑类型、建筑高度、建筑密度调查,城市绿化调查及城市发展动态变化调查。建立了综合调查分类原则和分类系统,编绘了佛山市1∶5000比例尺的分类调查专题图,并对城市建设现状进行了综合评价,为佛山城市规划管理部门进行城市规划和管理提供了基础技术资料。     

INDUSTRIAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY: NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND RECENT APPLICATIONS

Over the past decade, photogrammetry has been increasingly applied as a precise three dimensional measuring tool in industrial and engineering works. Analytical photogrammetry is now routinely employed in tasks of measurement as diverse as machine tool inspection and fixture checking, structural deformation monitoring, the provision of control databases to guide industrial robots and the measurement of structures in earth orbit. Traditional photogrammetric techniques and instrumentation are usually inappropriate for industrial work and the development of complete, fully integrated close range photogrammetric systems has recently gained considerable impetus. This paper details some of the significant new developments in industrial photogrammetry, with particular reference to technological advances in the Simultaneous Triangulation and Resection System (STARS) designed by Geodetic Services, Inc. for industrial photograininetry. Practical aspects of industrial measurement are also presented in a review of some of the varying tasks that GSI has carried out in recent years. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the flexibility, accuracy, reliability and economy of photogrammetry, as well as the progress made in automating this measurement technique.
