The problem of thermal-convective instability of a hydromagnetic composite plasma in a stellar atmosphere has been studied with Hall effects. The criterion for monotonic instability has been found to be unchanged by the presence of Hall effects.  相似文献

The thermal-convective instability of a composite stellar atmosphere is considered in the presence of rotation, variable horizontal magnetic field, and collisional effects. The criteria for monotonic instability are obtained which generalize the criterion derived for thermal-convective instability in the absence of above effects.  相似文献

Thermal-convective instability of a hydromagnetic, composite, rotating, inviscid and infinitely conducting plasma in a stellar atmosphere has been studied in the presence of finite Larmor radius. It is found that the criterion for monotonic instability holds good in the presence of the effects due to rotation and finite Larmor radius.  相似文献

Thermosolutal-convective instability of a composite plasma in a stellar atmosphere is considered. The effect of a variable horizontal magnetic field and the simultaneous effect of a uniform rotation and a variable horizontal magnetic field have been considered on the thermosolutal-convective instability. We have derived the sufficient conditions for the existence of monotonic instability. It is found that the criteria for monotonic instability hold good in the presence of a variable horizontal magnetic field as well as in the presence of a uniform rotation and a variable horizontal magnetic field.  相似文献

The thermal-convective instability of a composite rotating stellar atmosphere in the presence of a variable horizontal magnetic field is considered to include, separately, the effects of medium permeability and solute gradient. The criteria for monotonic instability in each case have been obtained which generalize the Defouw's criterion derived for thermal-convective instability in the absence of above effects.  相似文献

The thermosolutal-convective instability of a stellar atomsphere is studied in the presence of suspended particles. The criteria for monotonic instability are derived and are found to hold good also in the presence of uniform rotation and uniform magnetic field on the thermosolutal-convective instability. The thermosolutal-convective instability of a stellar atmosphere is also studied in the presence of suspended particles and radiative transfer effects and the criteria for monotonic instability are obtained in terms of source function.  相似文献

Analytic structure of high-density steady isothermal spheres is discussed using the TOV equation of hydrostatic equilibrium which satisfies an equation of state of the kind:P = K g , = g c 2.Approximate analytical solutions to the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations of hydrostatic equilibrium in (, ), (,U) and (u, v) phase planes in concise and simple form useful for short computer programmes or on small calculator, have been given. In Figures 1, 2, and 3, respectively, we display the qualitative behaviours of the ratio of gas density g to the central density gc , g / gc ; pressureP to the gc ,P/ gc ; and the metric componente , for three representative general relativistic (GR) isothermal configurations =0.1, 0.2, and 0.3. Figure 4 shows the solution curve (, ) for =0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 (=0 represents the classical (Newtonian) curve). Numerical values of physical quantitiesv (=4r 2 P *(r)), in steps ofu (=M(r)/r)=0.03, and the mass functionU, in steps of =0.2 (dimensionless radial distance), are given, respectively, in Tables I and II. Other interesting features of the configurations, such as ratio of gravitational radius 2GM/c 2 to the coordinate radiusR, mass distributionM(r)/M, pressure (or density) distributionP/P c , binding energy (B.E.), etc., have also been incorporated in the text. It has further been shown that velocity of sound inside the configurations is always less than the velocity of light.Part of the work done at Azerbaijan State University, Baku, U.S.S.R., and Mosul University, Mosul, Iraq, 1985-1986  相似文献

Thermosolutal-convective instability of a stellar atmosphere in the presence of a stable solute gradient is considered to include the effects, separately, due to finite Larmor radius (FLR) and Hall currents in the presence of a uniform horizontal magnetic field. The criteria derived for monotonic instability are found to hold true in the presence of FLR and Hall effects.  相似文献

Thermal-convective-instability of a stellar atmosphere is investigated in the presences of a nonlinear magnetic field. A model proposed by Roberts (1981) in the context of neutron stars is used. The simultaneous effect of both nonlinear magnetic field and rotation is also considered. The criteria obtained for monotonic instability generalize the criterion derived by Defouw (1970) in the absence of magnetic field and rotation.  相似文献

The unrestricted second-order virial tensor formalism has been used to calculate the characteristic frequencies of linear adiabatic oscillations of a composite stellar model having an isothermal core and a polytropic envelope in presence of a weak poloidal magnetic field. The frequencies of the transverse shear mode and the nonradial pulsation mode for both a radiative and a convective envelope (corresponding to polytropic index 3 and 1.5, respectively) alongwith that of the toroidal mode for the radiative envelope get increased in presence of the magnetic field. However, the frequency of the toroidal mode for the convective envelope registers a decrease in presence of the field. The corrections to the various frequencies decrease with increasing values of the parameter characterizing the lowering of the core temperature in presence of the magnetic field.  相似文献

In this paper the Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI) of a two-fluid layer system under the simultaneous action of a general rotation field and a horizontal magnetic field is presented. An approximate and an exact solution of the eigenvalue equation are calculated. These solutions are important not only to understand more deeply the physical problem but also to determine the correct numerical solutions. Numerical calculations are done for an unstable density stratification in the cases of horizontal magnetic field parallel and perpendicular to the horizontal component of the angular velocity. For an adverse density stratification, it is shown that in comparison to previous works, the horizontal magnetic field creates new angular areas (of the angle of propagation of the perturbation) at which the perturbation is stable and propagates as traveling waves. It is also shown that the vertical component of the angular velocity has a destabilizing effect because it works to eliminate the stable angular areas.  相似文献

A study of the Rayleigh instability of a compressible plasma of density stratified in horizontal planes and subjected to a vertical magnetic field is made. The special case of a plane interface separating two superposed uniform plasmas of different densities and speeds of sound is treated as an example to illustrate the compressibility effects on the hydromagnetic Rayleigh instability. It is found that the hydromagneticcompressibility effects act toward reducing the growth rate in a hydrodynamically unstable situation.  相似文献

The thermal-convective instability of a stellar atmosphere is considered to include rotation, finite Larmor radius and Hall effects in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field. The criterion for monotonic instability is found to be the same even if the above effects are included.  相似文献

The theoretical problem posed by the buoyant escape of a magnetic field from the interior of a stably stratified body bears directly on the question of the present existence of primordial magnetic fields in stars. This paper treats the onset of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability of the upper boundary of a uniform horizontal magnetic field in a stably stratified atmosphere. The calculations are carried out in the Boussinesq approximation and show the rapid growth of the initial infinitesimal perturbation of the boundary. This result is in contrast to the extremely slow buoyant rise of a separate flux tube in the same atmosphere. Thus for instance, at a depth of 1/3R beneath the surface of the Sun, a field of 102 G develops ripples over a scale of 103 km in a characteristic time of 50 years, whereas the characteristic rise time of the same field in separate flux tubes with the same dimensions is 1010 years. Thus, the development of irregularities proceeds quickly, soon slowing, however, to a very slow pace when the amplitude of the irregularities becomes significant. Altogether the calculations show the complexity of the question of the existence of remnant primordial magnetic fields in stellar interiors. This work was supported in part by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration under Grant NGL 14-001-001  相似文献

The gravitational instability of an infinite homogeneous self-gravitating plasma through porous medium is considered to include, separately, the effects due to rotation and collisions between ionized and neutral components. The dispersion relations are obtained in both cases. It is found that the gravitational instability of a composite and rotating plasma in the presence of a variable horizontal magnetic field through porous medium is determined by the Jeans's criterion.  相似文献
