Under conditions common in muddy coastal and estuarine environments, acoustic Doppler velocimeters (ADVs) can serve to estimate sediment settling velocity (w s) by assuming a balance between upward turbulent Reynolds flux and downward gravitational settling. Advantages of this method include simple instrument deployment, lack of flow disturbance, and relative insensitivity to biofouling and water column stratification. Although this method is being used with increasing frequency in coastal and estuarine environments, to date it has received little direct ground truthing. This study compared in situ estimates of w s inferred by a 5-MHz ADV to independent in situ observations from a high-definition video settling column over the course of a flood tide in the bottom boundary layer of the York River estuary, Virginia, USA. The ADV-based measurements were found to agree with those of the settling column when the current speed at about 40 cm above the bed was greater than about 20 cm/s. This corresponded to periods when the estimated magnitude of the settling term in the suspended sediment continuity equation was four or more times larger than the time rate of change of concentration. For ADV observations restricted to these conditions, ADV-based estimates of w s (mean 0.48±0.04 mm/s) were highly consistent with those observed by the settling column (mean 0.45±0.02 mm/s). However, the ADV-based method for estimating w s was sensitive to the prescribed concentration of the non-settling washload, C wash. In an objective operational definition, C wash can be set equal to the lowest suspended solids concentration observed around slack water.  相似文献

Two physicochemical parameters: specific surface area (SSA) and heat-of-wetting (ΔwH) were measured in order to characterize the surface of sediments from river and marine environments. The data for the sediment samples of the Krka River Estuary were compared with polluted river and shelf marine sediment samples. It was found that organic free samples from the polluted river sediments show two to three times larger SSA compared to native samples. At the same time, ΔwH was two to three times higher for native samples. The inverse of this trend was found for marine sediment samples. In the Krka River Estuary a narrow transition zone is evident, where such an inversion occurs. This inversion is attributed to significant compositional changes of organic matter within the estuary.  相似文献

悬浮泥沙和叶绿素是海洋水色的重要部分,是反映河口海岸地区生态环境状况的重要指标。本文基于Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI遥感影像,在不依赖地面实测数据的条件下,结合水文气象数据,利用光谱信息建立水色遥感模型对莱州湾1996—2015年不同时期的悬浮泥沙和叶绿素变化进行研究。研究结果表明:(1)此模型可以快速反演出较大空间尺度内的水色时空分布情况。(2)1996—2015年这一时期内悬浮泥沙浓度变化明显,枯水期的悬浮泥沙扩散范围总体大于丰水期,悬浮泥沙高浓度区主要分布在黄河口附近海域和沿岸区域,泥沙主要来源于陆源输沙和海水中的泥沙再悬浮,悬浮泥沙的扩散主要受潮流的影响,风和波浪等动力因素也在一定程度上影响着悬浮泥沙的扩散;(3)此外,莱州湾叶绿素高浓度区主要分布在莱州湾东—南部海域,其分布具有明显的季节性,春季(5月)海水温度升高,水中营养物质垂直混合好使得叶绿素浓度处于较高态势。  相似文献

根据1988-1991年河口锋面现场调查、上海市海岸带调查及历次标准断面调查资料对长江盐度场及盐度锋进行了分析,提出了由口门至外海纵向上存在着三级锋面现象:内侧锋面即长江河口锋为长江河口水与长江冲淡水的界面;羽状锋是长江口羽状流水与口外混合水的界面,它是长江口最主要的盐度锋面,也是长江口一个重要的生物地球化学带,对河口沉积过程及水下三角洲发育具有重要的影响。外侧锋面即海洋锋,是长江冲淡水的最外边缘。  相似文献

Turbidity limits gas exchange in a large macrotidal estuary   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In estuaries, the gas transfer velocity (k) is driven by a combination of two major physical drivers, wind and water current. The k values for CO2 in the macrotidal Gironde Estuary were obtained from 159 simultaneous pCO2 and floating chamber flux measurements. Values of k increased with wind speed and were significantly greater when water currents and wind were in opposing directions. At low wind speeds (<1 m s−1), k increased with water current velocities (0–1.5 m s−1) following an exponential trend. The latter was a good proxy for the Y-intercept in a generic equation for k versus wind speed in estuaries. We also found that, in this turbid estuary, k was significantly lower at high turbidity. The presence of suspended material in great concentrations (TSS > 0.2 g L−1) had a significant role in attenuating turbulence and therefore gas exchange. This result has important consequences for modeling water oxygenation in estuarine turbidity maxima. For seven low turbidity estuaries previously described in the literature, the slope of the linear regression between k and wind speed correlates very well with the estuary surface area due to a fetch effect. In the Gironde Estuary, this slope follows the same trend at low turbidity (TSS < 0.2 g L−1), but is on average significantly lower than in other large estuaries and decreases linearly with the TSS concentration. A new generic equation for estuaries is proposed that gives k as a function of water current velocity, wind speed, estuarine surface area and TSS concentration.  相似文献

用声学设备探测水体中悬浮泥沙浓度及其变化的关键问题是对观测数据进行标定。通过分析在长江口海域现场观测得到的声学后向散射强度数据和水样泥沙实测值,提出了三种将声学观测数据转换为泥沙浓度的现场标定方法。结果表明,采用特征时刻标定所得数据与实际值相比离散性较小,统计误差约为20%.该方法比同步采水标定更为简便实用。  相似文献

河口是河流与海洋交互作用的过渡区域,河口水域河海划界是一个十分复杂而敏感的问题.通过对长江河口段自然条件的分析,选取了相对比较稳定的几个相关参数:水域性质、潮汐特征、盐水入侵、悬沙浓度、河槽特性和沙岛形成过程等,作为长江口区河海划界的指标.水域性质是宏观上确定河海划界范围最基本的自然参数.潮汐特征的沿程分布和变化是河海划界的重要要素.盐水入侵是河口地区的普遍现象.悬沙浓度的沿程变化从一个侧面反映了径、潮流共同作用的产物,也可作为河海划界的参数之一.南支以上河段,河床纵断面变化显著,深槽浅滩起伏分布;南支河槽在浏河口以下,水深变化不大,一般在20 m之内,床面较平坦、起伏甚小,至口门一带水深均在10 m之内,明显反映了径、潮流共同作用的结果,显示了这一带是河海过渡段的特点.河口沙岛是河海相互作用下的沉积地貌,其推进状况也是河海划界的重要标志之一.从历史的角度看,随着长江口沙岛的形成和推进,河海界线有不断下移的趋向.据此探讨性地提出河海划界的3种方案:方案Ⅰ位于河口段的中部,界线的中部走向基本上是长江口第一代沙岛(崇明岛)与第二代沙岛(长兴、横沙)的分界线;方案Ⅱ以浏河口-崇明岛上口-北支沪苏分界线;方案Ⅲ位于口门附近.推荐方案Ⅰ作为上海市(长江口)河海划界的界线,仅供有关部门参考.  相似文献

Despite the fact that Co is an essential trace element for the growth of marine phytoplankton, there is very limited information on the cycling of this trace metal in the marine environment. We report here the distribution of dissolved (<0.4 μm) and particulate (>0.4 μm) Co in surface waters of the Hudson River Estuary (HRE) and San Francisco Bay (SFB). Samples were collected during several cruises (from 1990 to 1995 in SFB and from 1995 to 1997 in the HRE) along the whole salinity gradient. Dissolved Co concentrations (mean±1 standard deviation) were nearly identical in magnitude in both estuaries despite differences in climate, hydrography, riverine-flow conditions and land-usage (HRE=0.91±0.61 nM; SFB=1.12±0.69 nM). Dissolved Co levels in each system showed non-conservative distributions when plotted as a function of salinity, with increasing concentrations downstream from the riverine end-members. Desorption from suspended particulates and sewage inputs, therefore, seems to be the major processes responsible for the non-conservative behavior of Co observed. Mass balance estimates also indicated that most of the estuarine Co is exported out of both estuaries, indicating that they and other estuarine systems are principal sources of this essential trace element to the open ocean.  相似文献

入海河口由于径流的存在以及河口地貌形态的影响,存在涨、落潮水动力、悬沙以及盐度分布等不对称现象,同时这一不对称现象还存在显著的区域性和季节性差异。根据2013年7月和2014年1月洪、枯季长江口定点准同步水文泥沙调查结果,发现长江口分汊型河槽悬沙浓度在时间上存在洪枯季、大小潮不对称特征,在空间上存在东西向沿程分布、南北向横向分布以及垂向上表底层分布不对称特征。河势演变形成南、北支河口涨、落潮悬沙浓度不对称分布的整体格局;洪、枯季变化影响河口涨、落潮悬沙分布的再分配过程;大潮涨、落潮过程对悬沙分布不对称影响显著大于小潮;季节性风浪作用影响河口最大浑浊带涨、落潮悬沙不对称南北差异;底部高含沙浓度对口门段涨、落潮悬沙不对称性贡献显著。  相似文献

通过对黄河口新生湿地沉积物岩芯中常量元素、稀土元素以及重金属分布特征的研究,探讨了滨海湿地沉积物中金属元素的环境指示意义。结果表明,大部分金属元素的分布模式类似,均在40 cm左右出现明显的低值区,这主要是由黄河携带而来的大量陆源物质的输入造成的。沉积物粒度组成以及有机质含量对金属元素的分布影响显著。常量元素中,Na2O与其他元素变化趋势相反,反应了潮汐对滨海湿地的侵蚀作用;黄河口新生湿地沉积物单个稀土元素的含量大小顺序与黄河沉积物和渤海沉积物基本一致,稀土元素总量则高于黄河沉积物而低于渤海沉积物,表明黄河口湿地沉积物具有河流泥沙和海水颗粒物双重来源,而轻重分异比的变化则反映了物质输入的改变;而在较高的有机质和粘土含量的影响下,黄河口新生湿地沉积物中重金属发生了明显的富集。  相似文献

长江口水下三角洲地形地貌对于长江口航道安全、生态环境、海岸带工程等均具有重要意义,本次研究拟采用世界上第一颗静止水色卫星GOCI(Geostationary Ocean Color Imager)开展长江口Kd(490)的季节和潮汐变化规律研究,以期为采用机载激光测深提供预评估信息。研究得到结论如下:长江口及邻近海域水体为典型的二类水体,悬浮泥沙含量最高可由杭州湾内几千mg/L迅速降低至10 mg/L以下,因此,分段式的漫衰减系数反演算法适用于研究区域;Kd(490)反演结果表明长江口及邻近海域的Kd(490)值的季节变化特征表现为冬高夏低,春秋居中,长江冲淡水流量和季风是影响其季节变化的主要因素,而在一个潮周期内,Kd(490)值总体表现为低潮期低于高潮期,悬浮泥沙浓度和潮水的潮位是长江口及邻近海域的Kd(490)值的重要影响因素;研究指出,长江口及杭州湾内激光可探测深度约在5~22 m范围内,夏季退潮低潮位最适合激光雷达观测。由此可见,GOCI 8景/d,1景/h的分辨率可以实现Kd(490)的动态变化监控,而且可以实现在相同潮位下更为合理地描述Kd(490)值的季节变化,为机载激光雷达探测的进一步开展提供了技术支持。  相似文献

悬浮体系指悬浮在水中,经过过滤能停留在滤膜或滤纸上的一切物质质点,其中包括泥沙颗粒、浮游生物及各种胶体物质等。悬浮体浓度分布是自然环境条件的综合反映,与物质来源,海洋环流、潮流、波浪等动力要素密切相关。因此,悬浮体浓度及运移途径是测试环境条件的重要参数,对其进行研究将对开发港口、合理利用土地资源、保护生态环境具有重要的实际意义,对于探讨现代沉积过程则具有理论意义。  相似文献

A laboratory study was carried to qualitatively investigate the effect of suspended sediment concentration C on the settling velocity ws of cohesive sediment in quiescent water. A bay mud sample was mixed with water in a cylindrical container, and three optical back scatterance sensors were then used to measure suspended sediment concentrations of the mud–water mixture at three levels every 15 s for 5 h while sediments were settling in the quiescent water. Based on the measured sediment concentrations, the settling velocities at different concentrations were derived from the depth-integrated mass balance equation. This study has found that the settling velocity ws is independent of C in the free settling regime of C<0.3 g/l, and then increases nonlinearly with C in the enhanced settling regime of 0.3<C<4.3 g/l, and finally decreases sharply with C in the hindered settling regime of C>4.3 g/l. The maximum settling velocity occurs at C≈4.3 g/l and is about nine times faster than the settling velocity in the free settling regime. A single empirical formula is also proposed to calculate the settling velocities at different sediment concentrations.  相似文献

基于实测资料对黄河废弃河道挑河河口段的悬沙分布及输移特点进行了研究。结果表明:挑河河口段悬沙浓度与潮流流速正相关,风浪作用则导致悬沙质量浓度大大提高;在空间尺度上悬沙浓度呈河口高、河道上游低的特点;挑河河口附近,涨潮流输沙明显占优势,向河道内侧,悬沙输移率有所降低,且逐渐转变为落潮输沙占优势。结合河口外侧海域冲淤演变趋势以及悬沙输运动力机制,认为河口段河道总体处于弱淤积状态,而风浪作用可以加速河道淤积。本研究可为挑河的河口演变和航道整治等提供参考。  相似文献

利用2000~2015年Terra-MODIS(terra-moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer,中等分辨率成像光谱仪)数据和2014年洪枯季现场数据建立泥沙反演模型,分析入长江河口泥沙大幅减少后河口表层悬沙向浙闽沿岸输运的时空变化和扩散形态。结果表明:(1)利用MODIS数据的二次型模型能够揭示长江口及邻近海域悬沙分布及输运特征,入海输运的长江口悬浮泥沙是浙闽沿岸连续悬浮泥沙带存在的物源;(2)受季风和沿岸流动力驱动,长江口悬沙向浙闽沿岸输运具有明显的季节性:春季,悬浮泥沙从长江口向浙闽沿岸呈条带状输运,春夏之交,南下的悬沙至温岭近岸海域出现中断现象;夏季,长江口大量悬沙滞留在长江口杭州湾近岸,仅有少量悬沙向南输运,泥沙带中断;秋季,10月下旬—11月中旬逐渐形成连续的近岸泥沙带;历冬至春,循环复始;(3)受近年来长江流域进入河口的泥沙减少影响,浙闽沿岸秋冬季连续的输沙带在春季提前断开,在秋季有推迟恢复的现象。本研究对于探究浙闽沿岸泥沙减少新格局,分析近海生态环境新变化具有重要意义。  相似文献

受径流输沙、风浪、潮汐等影响,河口近岸海域悬浮泥沙具有显著的时空变化。本文基于小时分辨率的GOCI遥感影像,利用最优遥感反演算法,结合空间分析和统计方法,深入研究黄河口及邻近海域悬沙时空动态特征及驱动机制。结果表明,径流输沙对悬沙浓度的影响以河口近岸区为主,高径流输沙对悬沙浓度分布影响可达距岸约20 km,并向孤东近岸方向扩散。大风可引起清水沟老河口区泥沙强烈再悬浮,形成高浓度悬沙区。涨落潮对小时尺度的悬沙浓度影响显著,并影响悬沙的南北扩散。大潮悬沙浓度变化和扩散范围均大于小潮,潮流流速不同是造成该差异的主要原因。水深与悬沙浓度之间存在较明显的负相关关系,根据不同驱动因素的差异,悬沙浓度随着水深的增加呈现出指数型、幂函数型、线性3种关系。  相似文献

为定量化研究影响中国东部近海逆温层产生和发展过程的主要因素,基于Princeton Ocean Model(POM),通过进行河流和暖流的增减试验,对逆温层的季节变化及其影响因素进行了分析。模拟结果显示,受海表失热影响,逆温层主要出现在9月至翌年3月份,山东半岛北部及东部近海、闽浙沿海为三个主要逆温层发生区域,其中山东半岛北部近海逆温层范围和强度最大。当无河流输入时,整个研究海域无逆温层出现,而河流加倍或减半对逆温层的影响主要体现在长江口邻近海域,出现概率分别增高22%和降低15%。当暖流加倍或减半时,长江口邻近海域逆温层出现概率大幅增高23%和降低69%,山东半岛东部近海次之,分别增高34%和降低25%。当关闭暖流时,长江口外海逆温层消失,山东半岛东部近海逆温层出现概率降低约70%,且变浅76%。以上表明,河流淡水是中国东部近海逆温层形成的必要条件,在保持必要河流淡水输入条件下,暖流的变化对中国东部近海逆温层形成的影响比河流变化大,其中对长江口外海影响最大,山东半岛东部近海次之。暖流流量的增减可引起100 m以浅陆架区的海表面高度异常,影响跨40 m等深线海水交换和温盐锋面的形成,造成逆温层大范围的转移和变化。  相似文献
