We analyze the variations in the near-surface profiles of sound speed and adiabatic constant between active regions and neighboring quiet-Sun areas using the technique of ring-diagram analysis and inversions of the frequency differences between the regions. This approach minimizes the systematic observational effects on the fitted spectral model parameters. The regions analyzed have been selected from a large sample of data available from both GONG and MDI and include a wide range of magnetic activity levels as measured in several respects. We find that the thermal-structure anomalies under active regions have a consistent depth profile, with only the magnitude of the effect varying with the intensity of the active regions. Both the sound speed and the first adiabatic index are depressed near the surface but enhanced at greater depths. The turnover for the sound speed occurs at a shallower depth than that for the adiabatic index. The amplitude of the thermal anomalies at all depths correlates more closely with the total magnetic flux of the active regions than with spot areas or flare activity levels. The depth of the turnover does not appear to depend on the strength of the region.  相似文献

Inferences of subsurface flow velocities using local domain ring-diagram helioseismology depend on measuring the frequency shifts of oscillation modes seen in acoustic power spectra. Current methods for making these measurements use maximum-likelihood fitting techniques to match a model of modal power to the spectra. The model typically describes a single oscillation mode, and each mode in a given power spectrum is fit independently. We present a new method that produces measurements with higher reliability and accuracy by fitting multiple modes simultaneously. We demonstrate that this method permits measuring sub-surface flows deeper into the Sun while providing higher uniformity in data coverage and velocity response closer to the limb of the solar disk. While the previous fitting method performs better for some measurements of low phase-speed modes, we find this new method to be particularly useful for high phase-speed modes and small spatial areas.  相似文献

We have determined the meridional flows in subsurface layers for 18 Carrington rotations (CR 2097 to 2114) analyzing high-resolution Dopplergrams obtained with the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) instrument onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). We are especially interested in flows at high latitudes up to 75° in order to address the question whether the meridional flow remains poleward or reverses direction (so-called counter cells). The flows have been determined in depth from near-surface layers to about 16 Mm using the HMI ring-diagram pipeline. The measured meridional flows show systematic effects, such as a variation with the B 0-angle and a variation with central meridian distance (CMD). These variations have been taken into account to lead to more reliable flow estimates at high latitudes. The corrected average meridional flow is poleward at most depths and latitudes with a maximum amplitude of about $20~\mathrm{m\,s}^{-1}$ near 37.5° latitude. The flows are more poleward on the equatorward side of the mean latitude of magnetic activity at 22° and less poleward on the poleward side, which can be interpreted as convergent flows near the mean latitude of activity. The corrected meridional flow is poleward at all depths within ±?67.5° latitude. The corrected flow is equatorward only at 75° latitude in the southern hemisphere at depths between about 4 and 8 Mm and at 75° latitude in the northern hemisphere only when the B 0 angle is barely large enough to measure flows at this latitude. These counter cells are most likely the remains of an insufficiently corrected B 0-angle variation and not of solar origin. Flow measurements and B 0-angle corrections are difficult at the highest latitude because these flows are only determined during limited periods when the B 0 angle is sufficiently large.  相似文献

We present the electronic database (EAR-C-COMPIL-5-DB-COMET-POLARIMETRY-V1.0, NASA Planetary Data System) involving published and some unpublished results of cometary polarimetry. The database contains more than 2600 measurements of linear and circular polarization for 64 comets since 1940s. The narrow-band and wide-band measurements within the spectral region 0.3–2.2 micron are presented. The ranges of phase angles, helio- and geocentric distances of comets are 0.4–122°, 0.6–4.8 AU, 0.03–4.9 AU, respectively. We have comprised more than 60 references to the published papers and unpublished sources. The data we included are presented in a tabular format in the ASCII codes. The database can be used as the observational basis for detailed theoretical modeling, interpretation of the phase-angle and spectral dependence of polarization, classification of comets, laboratory simulating, and for selecting future space-mission targets. Analysis of the available data allowed us to summarize some observed characteristics of linearly and circularly polarized light and their phase-angle, heliocentric, spectral, and spatial dependencies.  相似文献

随着GPS全球定位系统的发展,已经有可能使用GPS掩星技术反演精确的大气温度,压强和湿度剖面.在概要地描述上海天文台(SHAO)开发的GPS掩星数据资料反演地球大气流程模块以后,分析了2002年8月1日至2002年8月17日期间2700多次CHAMP掩星数据资料的结果,并且与欧洲中尺度天气预报分析(ECMWF)资料进行比较和统计分析,讨论了CHAMP掩星数据的质量,并分析了CHAMP掩星数据的观测误差和ECMWF的分析模型误差.提出了一种优化的统计分析方法,它能更客观地反映GPS掩星技术的外部符合.统计分析结果表明GPS掩星数据将有可能成为数值天气预报和长期监测地球气候的非常有价值的数据资料.  相似文献

Supernovae of type Ia (SNe Ia) are very important for cosmography. To exclude systematic effects in linking the observed light of distant SNe Ia to the parameters of cosmological models, one has to understand the nature of supernova outbursts and to build accurate algorithms for predicting their emission. We review the recent progress of modeling the propagation of nuclear flame subject to numerous hydrodynamic instabilities inherent to the flame front. The Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) instability is the main process governing the corrugation of the front on the largest scales, while on the smallest scales the front propagation is controlled by the Landau-Darrieus in stability. Based on several hydrodynamic explosion models, we predict the broad-band UBVI and bolometric light curves of SNe Ia, using our 1D-hydro code which models multi-group time-dependent non-equilibrium radiative transfer inside SN ejecta. We employ our new corrected treatment for line opacity in the expanding medium, which is important especially in UV and IR bands. The results are compared with the observed light curves. Especially interesting is a recent 3D-deflagration model computed at MPA, Garching, by M. Reinecke et al.  相似文献

We present the results of a spectral study of the soft X-ray emission (0.2–2.5 keV) from low-latitude (‘disk’) regions of Jupiter. The data were obtained during two observing campaigns with XMM-Newton in April and November 2003. While the level of the emission remained approximately the same between April and the first half of the November observation, the second part of the latter shows an enhancement by about 40% in the 0.2–2.5 keV flux. A very similar, and apparently correlated increase, in time and scale, was observed in the solar X-ray and EUV flux.The months of October and November 2003 saw a period of particularly intense solar activity, which appears reflected in the behavior of the soft X-rays from Jupiter's disk. The X-ray spectra, from the XMM-Newton EPIC CCD cameras, are all well fitted by a coronal model with temperatures in the range 0.4–0.5 keV, with additional line emission from Mg XI (1.35 keV) and Si XIII (1.86 keV): these are characteristic lines of solar X-ray spectra at maximum activity and during flares.The XMM-Newton observations lend further support to the theory that Jupiter's disk X-ray emission is controlled by the Sun, and may be produced in large part by scattering, elastic and fluorescent, of solar X-rays in the upper atmosphere of the planet.  相似文献

The intensity and velocity fluctuations, observed simultaneously, are a powerful diagnostic tool of the dynamics of the solar atmosphere. The phase relation between the fluctuations can improve our knowledge of the solar background, its relation with the acoustic sources, and its interaction with the solar acoustic oscillations. Furthermore, the opposite asymmetries observed along the p-mode line profiles in the intensity and velocity power spectra contain information about the source of the solar acoustic oscillations. For these reasons, it is relevant to study the height dependence of the asymmetries and phases in the solar atmosphere. In this paper, we present the results from the analysis of observations performed by the VAMOS instrument in the potassium 769.9 nm line and Na i D lines, and compare the measured phases with those obtained at different layers in the solar atmosphere by different instruments, spanning from the base of the photosphere to the low chromosphere.  相似文献

对于地球同步轨道卫星,目前国内主要采用两种观测手段,即小光电望远镜短曝光观测和天文望远镜跟踪恒星(或卫星)观测.事实上,这两种手段都各自存在不足,尤其对于暗弱目标问题更加显著.利用CCD漂移扫描模式和凝视模式相结合观测地球同步轨道卫星具有明显的优势,小口径望远镜(口径约25cm)就能够获得高质量的目标和恒星圆星像与高精度的定位结果.本文重点阐述了获得高精度地球同步轨道卫星光学位置与星等的原理、方法及步骤;最后,利用实测资料的数据处理结果,分析了所获得的地球同步轨道卫星的内部精度及其误差源.  相似文献
