Satellite free air gravity anomalies over the Indian ocean region 79°E–86°E, 2°S–8°S were obtained from the website http://topex.ucsd.edu and a contour map was compiled. Five profiles of the anomaly have been interpreted in terms of two-dimensional structures in the ocean. Thickness of sediments lying on the oceanic crust determined from the interpretation of gravity profiles were used to compile an isopach map of the region 79°E–86°E, 2°S–8°S. This map in combination with one of the isopach maps compiled by previous workers, provides information regarding the thickness of sediments up to 6° S. According to this map sediment thickness varies from ~600 m over the middle part of the region to ~800 m further south, indicating that thinning of sediments in the middle part of the region is only localized. Information provided by this gravity study may be useful in planning detailed seismological studies to delimit the outer edge of the continental margin of Sri Lanka, defined according to the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).  相似文献

Epochs of changing atmospheric CO2 and seawater CO2–carbonic acid system chemistry and acidification have occurred during the Phanerozoic at various time scales. On the longer geologic time scale, as sea level rose and fell and continental free board decreased and increased, respectively, the riverine fluxes of Ca, Mg, DIC, and total alkalinity to the coastal ocean varied and helped regulate the C chemistry of seawater, but nevertheless there were major epochs of ocean acidification (OA). On the shorter glacial–interglacial time scale from the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) to late preindustrial time, riverine fluxes of DIC, total alkalinity, and N and P nutrients increased and along with rising sea level, atmospheric PCO2 and temperature led, among other changes, to a slightly deceasing pH of coastal and open ocean waters, and to increasing net ecosystem calcification and decreasing net heterotrophy in coastal ocean waters. From late preindustrial time to the present and projected into the 21st century, human activities, such as fossil fuel and land-use emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere, increasing application of N and P nutrient subsidies and combustion N to the landscape, and sewage discharges of C, N, P have led, and will continue to lead, to significant modifications of coastal ocean waters. The changes include a rapid decline in pH and carbonate saturation state (modern problem of ocean acidification), a shift toward dissolution of carbonate substrates exceeding production, potentially leading to the “demise” of the coral reefs, reversal of the direction of the sea-to-air flux of CO2 and enhanced biological production and burial of organic C, a small sink of anthropogenic CO2, accompanied by a continuous trend toward increasing autotrophy in coastal waters.  相似文献

The results of observations on the Large Phased Array of the Lebedev Physical Institute made as part of a survey of the northern sky at 102.5 MHz are reported. Survey source lists for the declination ranges 27.5°–33.5° and 67.5°–70.5° are given, together with their coordinates, flux densities, and identifications with 4C objects. In total, there are 920 sources with flux densities S 102.5≥3.0 Jy in the two zones, which cover 0.73 star. The observing and data-reduction methods are described, and the reliability and completeness of the catalog are estimated.  相似文献

Based on detailed petrological, geochemical, and isotope-geochemical study, fragments of fresh pillow lavas with chilled glass margins dredged at the Sierra-Leone test site in the axial MAR rift zone between 5° and 7°N correspond to MORB tholeiites, which are not primitive mantle melts but were differentiated in intermediate magmatic (intrusive) chambers. Small-scale geochemical and Sr-Nd isotope heterogeneities were established for the first time in the basalts and their glasses. It was shown that some samples show significant nonsystematic differences in the 87Sr/86Sr ratio between the basalts and their chilled glasses and less significant difference in ?Nd; higher Sr ratios can be observed both in the glasses and basalts of the same lava fragments. No significant correlation is observed between the isotope characteristics of the samples and their geochemistry; it was also shown that seawater did not affect the Sr and Nd isotope composition of the chilled glasses of the studied pillow lavas. It is suggested that such differences in isotope ratios are related to a small-scale heterogeneity of the melts owing to incomplete homogenization during their rapid ascent to the surface. The heterogeneity of the basaltic melts is explained by their partial contamination by the older plutonic rocks (especially gabbroids) of the lower oceanic crust, through which they ascended to the ocean floor surface. The wider scatter of the Sr isotopic ratios relative to Nd is related to the presence of xenocrysts of calcic plagioclase; correspondingly, the absence of a Nd mineral carrier in the rocks results in less distinct Nd isotope variations. It was shown that all of the studied basalts define a single trend along the mantle correlation array in the Sr-Nd isotope diagram. The causes of this phenomenon remain unclear.  相似文献

The results of 0.97, 2.3, 3.9, 7.7, 11.1, and 21.7 GHz observations of a complete sample of radio sources obtained on the RATAN-600 radio telescope are presented. The sample is comprised of sources from the 4.85-GHz MGB survey, and contains all sources at declinations 10°–12°30′ (J2000) with Galactic latitudes |b|>15° and flux densities S4.85>200 mJy. Optical identifications have been obtained for about 86% of the radio sources with flat spectra and 59% of those with steep spectra. The spectra of the flat-spectrum sources have been decomposed into extended and compact components.  相似文献

A synthetic, low-melting rhyolite composition containing TiO2 and iron oxide, with further separate additions of MgO, MnO, and MgO + MnO, was used in hydrothermal experiments to crystallize Ilm-Hem and Usp-Mt solid solutions at 800 and 900°C under redox conditions slightly below nickel–nickel oxide (NNO) to $\approx 3\,\log_{10} f_{{{\text{O}}_{2}}}A synthetic, low-melting rhyolite composition containing TiO2 and iron oxide, with further separate additions of MgO, MnO, and MgO + MnO, was used in hydrothermal experiments to crystallize Ilm-Hem and Usp-Mt solid solutions at 800 and 900°C under redox conditions slightly below nickel–nickel oxide (NNO) to units above the NNO oxygen buffer. These experiments provide calibration of the FeTi-oxide thermometer + oxygen barometer at conditions of temperature and oxygen fugacity poorly covered by previous equilibrium experiments. Isotherms for our data in Roozeboom diagrams of projected %usp vs. %ilm show a change in slope at ≈ 60% ilm, consistent with the second-order transition from FeTi-ordered Ilm to FeTi-disordered Ilm-Hem. This feature of the system accounts for some, but not all, of the differences from earlier thermodynamic calibrations of the thermobarometer. In rhyolite containing 1.0 wt.% MgO, 0.8 wt.% MnO, or MgO + MnO, Usp-Mt crystallized with up to 14% of aluminate components, and Ilm-Hem crystallized with up to 13% geikielite component and 17% pyrophanite component. Relative to the FeTiAlO system, these components displace the ferrite components in Usp-Mt, and the hematite component in Ilm-Hem. As a result, projected contents of ulv?spinel and ilmenite are increased. These changes are attributed to increased non-ideality along joins from end-member hematite and magnetite to their respective Mg- and Mn-bearing titanate and aluminate end-members. The compositional shifts are most pronounced in Ilm-Hem in the range Ilm50–80, a solvus region where the chemical potentials of the hematite and ilmenite components are nearly independent of composition. The solvus gap widens with addition of Mg and even further with Mn. The Bacon–Hirschmann correlation of Mg/Mn in Usp-Mt and coexisting Ilm-Hem is displaced toward increasing Mg/Mn in ilmenite with passage from ordered ilmenite to disordered hematite. Orthopyroxene and biotite crystallized in experiments with added MgO and MgO + MnO; their X Fe varies with and T consistent with equilibria among ferrosilite, annite, and ferrite components, and the chemical potentials of SiO2 and orthoclase in the liquid. Experimental equilibration rates increased in the order: Opx < Bt < Ilm-Hem < Usp-Mag.  相似文献

Three basic dyke swarms of post-Ellesmerian (post-Early Carboniferous) age in Nansen Land (83° N, 43° W) are still not dated numerically, but cross-cutting relationships show Group 1 to be older than Group 2, while Group 3 is the freshest and likely the youngest. Group 1 (the most northerly swarm) strikes N-S; Group 2 NW-SE, and Group 3 (the most southerly swarm) E-W. From more than 200 dykes 234 specimens from 28 sites were investigated palaeomagnetically. Group 1 dykes show unexpected shallow inclinations with a cleaned mean direction of (Dm, Im) = (151°, –5.8°), N = 7, k = 18.5, 95 = 13.9°. They show hydrothermal alterations, some remagnetization by lightning, and the low inclination indicates a low palaeo latitude. The palaeopole is (Plat, Plon) = (8.9° S, 14.0° W) with (dp, dm) = (7°, 14°), and is close to the North American Early Carboniferous mean pole, suggesting a syn- or early late-tectonic dyke injection. The polarity is reverse. Groups 2 and 3 of presumed Cretaceous or Tertiary age show dominantly normal and reverse polarities, respectively. Their mean directions per polarity are well grouped, with (Dm, Im) = (–30.6°, 76.7°), n = 13, k = 191.4, 95 = 3.9°, and (Dm, Im) = (133.4°, –76.7°), n = 10, k = 87.5, 95 = 5.9°, respectively. They are antipodal within 95% significance, and combining both swarms gives (Dm, Im) = (–37.5°, 76.8°), n = 23, k = 124.3, 95 = 2.7°, corresponding to a mean pole of (Plat, Plon) = (70.0° N, 185.1° E) with (dp, dm) = (4.7°, 5.0°), for which the spline of Late Cretaceous-Tertiary poles for all Greenland indicates a palaeomagnetic age of 57 ± 10 Ma. This pole (in present-day coordinates) is very close to the Late Cretaceous North American pole, in accordance with the fact that Greenland belongs to the North American craton, and that the two younger swarms are essentially postdating the opening of Baffin Bay.  相似文献

Based on the Landsat TM data in 1988 and 2002, the GIS technique and Fragstats software were used to calculate the land use conversion matrix and eight landscape metrics at landscape and patch class levels in upstream, midstream, and downstream regions of Nenjiang River basin. The characteristics of land use and landscape pattern changes in each region during 1988–2002 were analyzed. The results show the followings: 1) During the period from 1988 to 2002, farmland and construction land area increased, while the areas of forestland, grassland, and unutilized land decreased in all three regions. The conversion trends from forestland and grassland to farmland were obvious. The conversion from forestland to farmland mainly occurred in the upstream region, whereas the conversion from grassland to farmland primarily occurred in the midstream and downstream regions. 2) The water area in the upstream and midstream regions enlarged, mainly due to the increase of water impounded area as a result of the construction of reservoirs. Comparatively, the water area in the downstream region decreased, and it mainly occurred in the east part of downstream region with concentrated lakes and swamps. 3) The degree of landscape fragmentation increased in each region. The controlling ability of forestland was weakened, and its patch shape became more complicated. In contrast, the controlling ability of farmland was reinforced, and the connectivity among patches increased. 4) The landscape pattern shows some gradient features. From the upstream to downstream regions, the disturbance of human activities on dominant patches was intensified, and consequently, the landscape fragmentation extent and heterogeneity were enhanced.  相似文献

利用连续小波分析和经验模态分解方法,对我国北方地区(33°~41°N,108°~115°E)1470 ~2002年每年夏季降水量指数的时间序列进行了周期成分分析,探索全球气候变暖下的该地区降水量的多尺度变化特征.小波分析表明,降水量指数的可能周期有2.57a,4.83a,10.65a,23.25a,48.56a,68.30a和105.90a的周期,在95%置信水平有统计意义的周期是2.57a和23.25a的周期.这些周期和自然因素导致的周期相联系,不仅包含了气候系统内部(平流层准2a振荡和厄尔尼诺/南方涛动)的非线性作用,还包含了气候系统外(主要是太阳活动)受强迫的周期变化,且二者在原始降水量中所在比重相当,共同反映了原始降水量的绝大部分变化.降水量不只是在百年尺度上受太阳活动的驱动,在数十年尺度上也受到太阳活动的影响.我国北方地区的夏季降水量指数和夏季温度指数同相位反相关,全球增温并没有明显地改变二者之间的反相关关系.近百年来全球变暖期间,夏季降水量出现明显的新特征:短周期成分(小于30a的周期)的振幅比以往要显著大,而长周期成分的振幅比以往要显著小,同时呈现降水量逐年减少的长期变化趋势.  相似文献

The paper presents petrological and geochemical data on mantle peridotite, basalt, and metamorphic rocks sampled in Cruise 36 of the R/V Professor Logachev at the MAR axial zone between 17° and 20° N. These data are interesting not only as providing new information on the inner structure of the oceanic crust in the still-poorly known axial MAR segment but also in the context of the fundamental problem of interaction between magmatic and hydrothermal systems in slow-spreading mid-oceanic ridges. The MAR axial zone between 17° and 20° N was determined to host both weakly and strongly depleted residual peridodites, which suggests that the degree of mantle source melting significantly varied along the ridge axis in this segment. The MAR crest zone comprises slabs of serpentinized peridotite brought to the seafloor surface at various time. The most strongly depleted mantle peridotites likely uplifted later than the mildly and weakly depleted rocks in the same areas. A mantle reservoir beneath the MAR axial zone at 20° N is not isotopically related to the mantle source of the parental MORB melts, and high-Mg metabasites exposed at 17°56- N were derived from a crustal source that was modified near the root zone of a high-temperature hydrothermal system. The studied area seems to display traces of an extinct hydrothermal field and likely an ore occurrence related to it.  相似文献

The oxidation states of Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, V and Si in magnesiowüstite have been determined in metal-oxide distribution experiments using a multi anvil apparatus at 9 and 18 GPa and 2200°C as a function of oxygen fugacity. Despite limitations to control oxygen fugacity by applying conventional buffering methods in high pressure experiments, a wide range of redox-conditions (3 log bar units) has been imposed to the metal-oxide partitioning experiments by varying the Si/O ratio of the starting material. The oxygen fugacity was calculated according to the Fe-FeO equilibrium between the run products. The ability to impose different oxygen fugacities by varying the starting material is confirmed by the large variation of element partitioning coefficients obtained at constant pressure and temperature. The calculated valences at both pressures investigated are divalent for Co, Mn, V and 4+ for Si. The results for Cr (∼2.5+) and Ni (∼1.5+) indicate non-ideal mixing of Ni and Cr in at least one of the product phases. Because the application of 1 bar activity coefficients for Ni and Cr in metal alloys does not change these valences, non-ideal mixing in magnesiowüstite or significantly larger non-ideal mixing properties of Ni and Cr in metal alloys at high pressure are likely to be responsible for the apparent valences. Omitting such non-ideal mixing properties when extrapolating high-pressure element partitioning data may be significant. The elements Cr, V and Mn become siderophile (DMmet/ox > 1) at 9–18 GPa and 2200°C at oxygen fugacities below IW-2.7 to IW-3.7. Considering, in addition, the influence of temperature, the depletion of Cr, Mn and V in the Earth’s mantle may be due, at least partly, to siderophile behavior at high pressure and temperature.  相似文献

This study investigates the formation of lower oceanic crust and geochemical variations of basalts along the Central Indian Ridge (CIR, lat. 7°45′–17°10′ S). Harzburgites, various gabbroic cumulates, medium- to fine-grained oxide gabbros, diabases, and pillow basalts were recovered by dredging from segment ends such as ridge-transform intersections (RTIs), non-transform discontinuities (NTDs), and transform offset areas. The occurrence of both harzburgites and gabbroic rocks with minor basalts at all segments ends, and leucogabbro intrusive into harzburgite at the 12°45′ S NTD indicates that oceanic crust at segment ends exposes mantle-derived harzburgites and gabbroic intrusions with a thin basaltic cover due to sparse magmatic activity. Basalts collected along the entire ridge show wide compositional variations between N (normal)- and E (enriched)-mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB). T (transitional)-MORBs with enriched affinities are more prominent than N-MORBs. There is no tendency of enrichment towards specific directions. (La/Sm)N variations in MORB along the CIR (8°–21°S) fluctuates at a regional scale with local high positive anomalies reflecting compositional heterogeneity of the sub-CIR mantle domain.  相似文献

The Afanasy Nikitin seamount (ANS) is a major structural feature (400 km-long and 150 km-wide) in the Central Indian Basin, situated at the southern end of the so-called 85°E Ridge. Combined analyses of new multibeam bathymetric, seismic reflection and geochronological data together with previously described magnetic data provide new insights into the growth of the ANS through time, and its relationship with the 85°E Ridge. The ANS comprises a main plateau, rising 1200 m above the surrounding ocean floor (4800 m), and secondary elevated seamount highs, two of which (lie at 1600 and 2050 m water depths) have the morphology of a guyot, suggesting that they were formed above or close to sea-level. An unbroken sequence of spreading anomalies 34 through 32n.1 identified over the ANS reveal that the main plateau of the ANS was formed at 80–73 Ma, at around the same time as that of the underlying oceanic crust. The 40Ar/39Ar dates for two basalt samples dredged from the seamount highs are consistent, within error, at 67 Ma. These results, together with published results of late Cretaceous to early Cenozoic Indian Ocean plate reconstructions, indicate that the Conrad Rise hotspot emplaced both the main plateau of the ANS and Conrad Rise (including the Marion Dufresne, Ob and Lena seamounts) at 80–73 Ma, close to the India–Antarctica Ridge system. Subsequently, the seamount highs were formed by late-stage volcanism c. 6–13 Myr after the main constructional phase of the seamount plateau. Flexural analysis indicates that the main plateau and seamount highs of the ANS are consistent with Airy-type isostatic compensation, which suggest emplacement of the entire seamount in a near spreading-center setting. This is contrary to the flexural compensation of the 85°E Ridge further north, which is interpreted as being emplaced in an intraplate setting, i.e., 25–35 Myr later than the underlying oceanic crust. Therefore, we suggest that the ANS and the 85°E Ridge appear to be unrelated as they were formed by different mantle sources, and that the proximity of the southern end of the 85°E Ridge to the ANS is coincidental.  相似文献

Changjiang County is located to the northwest of the tailing range of the Wuzhi Mountains on Hainan Island,facing the sea and being against he Mountains.From southeast to northwest,it gradually descends in relief from mountain,hill,tableland,terrace to coastal plain.Its sandy coastal line is measued at 44.85km in length and its rocky coastal line at 7.15km along the county.The desertified coastal land covers and area of about 61.15km^2,extending from hundreds of meters to 3 km in width,of which the active sand land accounts for 5.333km^2 and the semi-active sand land,7.333km^2.The dunes are developed at the rate of 10-30m per year from the seashore toward the hinterland. The Forest Departments of Hainan Province and Changjiang County done a series of sand-control experiments.The chief technological measures are as follows:(1)to stabilize the drift sand first to create an adequate condition for afforestation;(2)to plant the big and strong saplings of Casuarin equisetifolia with nutrient bags in deep pits;and(3) to apply new techniques in “dry-season planting”to guarantee the quality of afforestation.The above experiments were successful.However,there still exist some problems such as quite seriously wilting shoot,lower survival rate of Pandanus tectorius in the vertical lines to the usual wind direction,monotonous the species in afforestation and subsequent poor management.Thus some suggestions are offered in this paper for future extension;(1)to apply REE fertilizers in the process of afforestation to increase the resistance of the plants;(2)to increase the vertical lines of Pandanus tectorius to the usual wind direcion to raise their survival rate in the network of sand stabilization;(3)to enlarge he area of liana planting to enhance the stability of sand;(4) to try to introduce new tree species from oter regions,which are of good performance in sand stabilization;(5) to interplant th adaptable economic crops;and (6)to make more investments and better management and conduct more extensive environmental education o ensure the early accomplishment of the protection forest belt around the island.  相似文献
