A first period study of the eclipsing binary XY Ceti is presented. A new period (P=2d.7807135), based on all available times of minima, is given. Period changes in different portions of the O–C diagram, with a new period, have been estimated. The total change in period (P/P) ranges from 1.1×10–5 d to 1.2×10–4 d, thus, P ranges from 3.1×10–5 d to 3.3×10–4 d. The O–C diagram suggests that the trend of the period has changed around the year 1959. Two portions of increasing and decreasing trends also reveal that the period changes (P/P) of the order of 10–5 d are present, which are appreciably large.  相似文献

A slightly improved period (P=0 . d 7408401) of the eclipsing binary system TX Ceti has been given, which is based on all available times of minima. The O-C diagrams based on the period given in PPEN (1980) and based on the new period, have been given. The period of TX Ceti shows fair constancy between the time interval 1928 to 1988. The present O-C diagrams do not confirm, either the presence of a third body or the presence of mass transfer as suggested earlier.  相似文献

We used the detected pulsation modes and adiabatic pulsation models to do seismology of the class of ZZ Ceti stars and measure the H layer mass for 83 stars. We found the surface hydrogen layer to be within the range  10−9.5≥ M H/ M *≥ 10−4  , with an average of   M H/ M *= 10−6.3  , which is thinner than the predicted value of   M H/ M *= 10−4  , indicating that the stars lose more mass during their evolution than previously expected. These results are preliminary and do not include the possible effects of realistic C/O profiles on the fits.  相似文献

Photoelectric photometry obtained in 1971 and 1972 is compared with that obtained in 1980–81 and 1981–82 to derive a photometric period of 77 d .65. JD 2444636.0 is an epoch of minimum light. The full amplitude has been as large as 0 m .18 inV. Curiously, the mean light level has dropped by almost 0 m .2 over the last ten years. This binary is additionally interesting because of the recently discovered white dwarf secondary component and because unpublished radial velocity measures of Fekel show a large (0.1) eccentricity and an orbital period (57 d .1) very different from our photometric period.  相似文献

The absolute elements of the system XY Ceti have been obtained on the basis of the spectroscopic elements given by Popper (1971) and the photoelectric elements derived by us. The colours of the components have been obtained. Both components are found to lie fairly on the Main Sequence. The primary component of the system, however, is slightly more evolved as it shows a tendency to drift away from the Main Sequence. The spectral classes now assigned are A5V (primary) and A7V (secondary). The values of Roche constants indicate that the system is a detached one.  相似文献

This is an analysis of the dependence of the flare activity of the well known flare star UV Ceti on the linear distance between the components of this binary system. It is shown that its flaring activity clearly depends on the mutual distance of the components, while this kind of variability is not seen in isolated flare stars.  相似文献

Long-term changes in two flare stars, EV Lac and BY Dra, have been detected by Mavridiset al. (1982). These long cyclic periods have been registered in theB-band at their quiescent-state luminosity as well as at their flare activity. Those observational data of the two previously mentioned flare stars as well as another observational data of the flare star, UV Cet, at its flare activity were submitted to our computer programme for periodicity detection excluding cyclic periods which have amplitudes less than tenth magnitude for great significance. Some of our results coincided with the long cyclic periods detected by Mavridiset al. (1982) while the remainder of our results have had no complete coincidence with those registered by Mavridiset al. (1982).  相似文献

We present the results on period search and modelling of the cool DAV star KUV 02464+3239. Our observations resolved the multiperiodic pulsational behaviour of the star. In agreement with its position near the red edge of the DAV instability strip, it shows large amplitude, long-period pulsation modes, and has a strongly non-sinusoidal light curve. We determined six frequencies as normal modes and revealed remarkable short-term amplitude variations. A rigorous test was performed for the possible source of amplitude variation: beating of modes, effect of noise, unresolved frequencies or rotational triplets. Among the best-fitting models resulting from a grid search, we selected three that gave   l = 1  solutions for the largest amplitude modes. These models had masses of 0.645, 0.650 and  0.680  M   . The three 'favoured' models have   M H  between  2.5 × 10−5 and 6.3 × 10−6  M *  and give 14.2–14.8 mas seismological parallax. The  0.645  M   (11 400 K) model also matches the spectroscopic  log  g   and   T eff  within 1σ. We investigated the possibility of mode trapping and concluded that while it can explain high amplitude modes, it is not required.  相似文献

The photometric properties of long-period variable stars and problems related to their traditional classification are analyzed. A general review of secular variations of such light-curve parameters studied in our previous papers as the period, amplitude, and mean brightness is given. Several types of Mira Ceti stars that differ in the secular period variation pattern are identified. A connection between the secular amplitude variations of certain variables with the effect of multiperiodicity is revealed. It is shown that the pattern of these variations and their numerical properties may be used to classify these variable stars.  相似文献

In this study, we present the unpublished flare data collected from 222 flares detected in the B band observations of five stars and the results derived by statistical analysis and modeling of these data. Six basic properties have been found with a statistical analysis method applied to all models and analyses for the flares detected in the B band observation of UV Ceti type stars. We have also compared the U and B bands with the analysis results. This comparison allowed us to evaluate the methods used in the analyses. The analyses provided the following results. (1) The flares were separated into two types, fast and slow flares. (2) The mean values of the equivalent durations of the slow and the fast flares differ by a factor of 16.2 ± 3.7. (3) Regardless of the total flare duration, the maximum flare energy can reach a different Plateau level for each star. (4) The Plateau values of EV Lac and EQ Peg are higher than the others. (5) The minimum values of the total flare duration increase toward the later spectral types. This value is called the Half-Life value in models. (6) Both the maximum flare rise times and the total flare duration obtained from the observed flares decrease toward the later spectral types.  相似文献
