Linear and nonlinear properties of magnetoconvection in rotating inviscid fluid are investigated. A time dependent one dimensional nonlinear Landau-Gonzburg equation is derived and analyzed at a supercritical pitchfork bifurcation corresponding to a region0 < R m < R * m (R m =R * m corresponds to Takens-Bogdanov bifurcation point). The transport of thermal radiation has been considered within a finite slab which absorb and scatter anisotropically. The problem involves the space-dependent single-scattering albedow(x). Two approximations are taken forw(x). In the first it is represented in exponential form asw(x)=w 0 exp(–x/s), wherew 0 ands are given constants andx is the optical variable. The second approximation assumes the formw(x) = r=0 R d r * p r (x/a), whered r * are known expansion coefficients anda is the half optical thickness of the slab. Analytic expressions for the forward, backward radiation intensities and fluxes are given in each approximation. The solution of the linear transport equation is performed on the basis of integral Fourier transforms.  相似文献

In this paper a slightly different approach is proposed for the process of determining the functions S m and H m * of the algorithm of the canonical version of Hori method. This process will be referred to as integration theory of the mth order equation of the method. It will be shown that the ordinary differential equation with an auxiliary parameter t * as independent variable, introduced through Hori auxiliary system, can be replaced by a partial differential equation in the time t. In this way, the mth order equation of the algorithm assumes a form very similar to the one of other perturbation methods. In virtue of this new approach of the integration theory for Hori method, Lagrange's variational equations introduced by Sessin are revised. As an example, the Duffing equation is solved through this new approach.  相似文献

In continuation of part I of our investigation a field of 0.8 near the galactic north pole is investigated with two large photographic telescopes of very different optical constants. The field contains the cluster Abell 1775. Statistics and photometry confirm the results of part I. The fraction of optical compact galaxies up to the identification magnitude 18m9 (B) is found to be more than 30% of the total number of cluster galaxies. The data for a secondary photometric sequence, which had to be determined for the photometry of the galaxies, are presented.  相似文献

In the problem of 2+2 bodies in the Robe’s setup, one of the primaries of mass m*1m^{*}_{1} is a rigid spherical shell filled with a homogeneous incompressible fluid of density ρ 1. The second primary is a mass point m 2 outside the shell. The third and the fourth bodies (of mass m 3 and m 4 respectively) are small solid spheres of density ρ 3 and ρ 4 respectively inside the shell, with the assumption that the mass and the radius of third and fourth body are infinitesimal. We assume m 2 is describing a circle around m*1m^{*}_{1}. The masses m 3 and m 4 mutually attract each other, do not influence the motion of m*1m^{*}_{1} and m 2 but are influenced by them. We also assume masses m 3 and m 4 are moving in the plane of motion of mass m 2. In the paper, the equations of motion, equilibrium solutions, linear stability of m 3 and m 4 are analyzed. There are four collinear equilibrium solutions for the given system. The collinear equilibrium solutions are unstable for all values of the mass parameters μ,μ 3,μ 4. There exist an infinite number of non collinear equilibrium solutions each for m 3 and m 4, lying on circles of radii λ,λ′ respectively (if the densities of m 3 and m 4 are different) and the centre at the second primary. These solutions are also unstable for all values of the parameters μ,μ 3,μ 4, φ, φ′. Such a model may be useful to study the motion of submarines due to the attraction of earth and moon.  相似文献

The modulation-transfer functions (MTF) of four solar recording films (Eastman-Kodak: 103a-G, IV E, RAR-SO-375; Gevaert: Duplopan-Rapid) are measured with the aid of an interference device. The MTF is used to estimate the smallest detectable element of a two-dimensional pattern; the so-called detectability threshold a * depends on: intensity modulation m, square of MTF, required signal-to-noise ratio q, gamma and granularity of the film. The calculated values of a * for the four emulsions are given in Table II. A new sample of M51-type galaxies consisting of 46 systems is used to estimate the B-band luminosity function. The luminosity function for the primary components of the systems can be described by a Schechter function with the parameters * = (1.4±0.3)×10-5 Mpc-3, = -1.3+0.4 -0.3, and M * = -20.3+0.2 -0.1. The values of the latter two parameters are comparable to those for isolated galactic pairs. The resulting estimate of the average density of M51-type galaxies is (4±3)% of the average density of isolated pairs for luminosities in the range -22m.0<M<-16m.0  相似文献

An axisymmetric αω-dynamo model of the Galactic disc is investigated. The disc is thin and its width, 2h*, varies slowly with distance, ωT*, from the axis of symmetry. The strength of the α*, varies linearly with axialdistance, z*, while differential rotation, dΩ*/dωT*, remains constant. Otherwise α* and dΩ*/dωT* are arbitrary functions of ωT*. The results are applied to the special case of the oblate spheroid first investigated by STIX (1976) and later by WHITE (1977). In the limit of small aspect ratio the new results agree with those obtained by WHITE and confirm that the dynamo numbers computed by STIX are too small.  相似文献

Using the discrete dipole approximation, we have calculated the extinction efficiency of hollow spherical particles of graphite as a possible constituent of interstellar grains. The particles had a shell structure with the basal plane perpendicular to the radius. The calculations were made on the particles having the outer radiusR 0=10 and 5nm in the wave number region from 0.8 to 8.0 m–1 using the anisotropic optical constants. It was found that the hollow particles with the inner radiusR 10.65R 0 yield an extinction feature at 4.6 m–1, which fits fairly well to one observed in the interstellar extinction.  相似文献

Part five of optically identified point sources from the IRAS Point Source Catalog (PSC) contains data on 19 late-type stars. The identifications were based on the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS), the First Byurakan Survey (FBS), blue and red maps of the Palomar survey (POSS), and infrared fluxes at 12, 25, 60, and 100 mm in the region of +61° ≤ δ ≤ +65° and 05 h 30 m ≤ α ≤ 18 h 35 m with an area of 357 sq. deg. Of the 76 objects given in the IRAS PSC as unidentified sources of infrared radiation, 51 are associated with known stars in existing catalogs, 6 are objects from the FBS of late-type stars, and 19 sources remained unknown in the optical range. For the identified stars we determined the optical coordinates, their departures from the IR coordinates, the Vstellar magnitudes, the color indices CI,and the preliminary spectral subtypes. The objects have optical magnitudes in the range of 8 m −16 m .Gas-dust shells are assumed to exist around four of the sources. Finder charts from the DSS are given for 19 of the objects. A coronal magnetic arcade can be thought of as consisting of an assembly of coronal loops. By solving equations of isobaric thermal equilibrium along each loop and assuming a base temperature of 2 × 104 K, the thermal structure of the arcade can be found. The possible thermal equilibria can be shown to depend on two parameters L * p * and h */p * representing the ratios of cooling (radiation) to condu and heating to cooling, respectively. Arcades can contain four types of loops: hot loops with summits hotter than 400000 K; cool loops at temperatures less than 80000 K along their lengths; hot-cool loops with cool summits and cool footpoints but hotter intermediate portions; and warm loops, cooler than 80000 K along most of their lengths but with summits as hot as 400000 K. Two possibilities for coronal heating are considered, namely a heating that is independent of magnetic field and a heating that is proportional to the square of the local magnetic field. When the arcade is sheared the thermal structure of the arcade may change, leading in some cases to non-equilibrium or in other cases to the formation of a cool core.  相似文献

The resonant scattering spectrometers of the IRIS ground-based network for measuring whole-disc solar velocity oscillations make use of a piezoelastic modulator. The velocity noise generated by this optical component is analysed with particular emphasis on the required stability of the amplitude of oscillation, a. The product of the absolute stability ¦ aa m ¦/a m and the relative stability a r.m.s./a m may not be larger than 10 –4 to 10 –5 (depending on specific wishes), where a m is the optimum amplitude. The velocity noise due to photon statistics is slightly enhanced, but other instrumental sources of velocity noise remain unaffected.  相似文献

In this paper, we have investigated that tilted Bianchi Type I cosmological models for stiff perfect fluid under a supplementary condition A = B n between metric potentials, is not possible. The tilted solution is also not possible when we assume A = t , B = t m , C = t n ; ℓ, m and n are constants for ε = p. Thus to preserve tilted nature of model, we assume p = γε, 0 ≤ γ ≤ 1 (barotropic equation of state) for the case A = t B = t m and C = t n . The linear polarizations of the 4.43 MeV 12C* and the 6.13 MeV 16O* gamma-ray lines, that are assumed to be produced in (p, p) processes in solar flares, are projected as functions of , the angle between the line-of-sight and the direction of the particle beam. The projected polarization amplitudes are quite large, and it is suggested that their measurement would facilitate to uniquely determine the particle direction without recourse to Doppler shift measurements.  相似文献

The solar spectrum of wavelength 350–800 nm has been measured for the four seasons. The intensity of the solar radiation in W m-2 nm-1 has been calculated and used to estimate the monochromatic optical depth of Bahrain's sky. It was found that the optical depth (i.e., extinction coefficient,k) is least in winter and highest in summer. Comparison of the hourly variation of the optical depth between Bahrain's atmosphere and that of Dhahran (Saudi Arabia) shows that the abundance of small size particles in the former is more than in the latter. This causes more extinction effect in Bahrain than in Dhahran, especially in the wavelengths 350–525 nm. The relation betweenk and for each season in Bahrain is in the formk =A n , whereA is a constant andn is a negative integer, is reported in this study.  相似文献

We present a simple method of forecasting the geomagnetic storms caused by high-speed streams (HSSs) in the solar wind. The method is based on the empirical correlation between the coronal hole area/position and the value of the Dst index, which is established in a period of low interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME) activity. On average, the highest geomagnetic activity, i.e., the minimum in Dst, occurs four days after a low-latitude coronal hole (CH) crosses the central meridian. The amplitude of the Dst dip is correlated with the CH area and depends on the magnetic polarity of the CH due to the Russell – McPherron effect. The Dst variation may be predicted by employing the expression Dst(t)=(−65±25×cos λ)[A(t *)]0.5, where A(t *) is the fractional CH area measured in the central-meridian slice [−10°,10°] of the solar disc, λ is the ecliptic longitude of the Earth, ± stands for positive/negative CH polarity, and tt *=4 days. In periods of low ICME activity, the proposed expression provides forecasting of the amplitude of the HSS-associated Dst dip to an accuracy of ≈30%. However, the time of occurrence of the Dst minimum cannot be predicted to better than ±2 days, and consequently, the overall mean relative difference between the observed and calculated daily values of Dst ranges around 50%.  相似文献

We explore the possibility that solar flare proton fluxes are limited in magnitude by saturation effects inherent to the acceleration mechanism. If cyclotron damping of Alfvén waves acts to accelerate protons, the criterion that the damping time is comparable to the acceleration time provides a fast particle number density at which protons load the wave spectrum. The limiting flux J *at 1 AU is obtained by a volume integration over the acceleration region and redistribution into an interplanetary emission cone. A simplified explosion model permits a delineation between volume and surface acceleration mechanisms in terms of a temporal parameter, the effective duration of acceleration. We conclude that J *may be a realistic concept, but that further investigation is warranted to sharpen the criterion.  相似文献

An elementary analysis based on Ampére's Law is given to separate the general magnetic field above the photosphere into two parts B=B 1+B *. The field B 1 is a potential field due to electric currents below the photosphere. The field B * is produced by electric currents above the photosphere combined with the induced mirror currents. By symmetry, B * has a set of field lines lying entirely in the plane z = 0 taken to be the photosphere. This set of field lines can be constructed from given vector magnetograph measurements and represents all the information on the electric currents above the photosphere that a magnetograph can provide. Theoretical illustrations are given and the implications for data analysis are discussed.  相似文献

The collisionless deceleration of electron streams responsible for type IIIb bursts has been investigated. For this the difference between the mean velocities of electron streams at plasma levels corresponding to 25 and 12.5 MHz, on one hand, at 12.5 and 6.25 MHz, on the other hand, is estimated. The mean velocity of electron streams between these levels is determined by the time delay in the moments of arrival of radio bursts from these levels. The distance between plasma levels is determined under the assumption that the (statistical) mean velocity of sources of the diffusive type III bursts is constant and equal toc/3 at all considered levels of the solar corona.It is shown that under this assumption the electron streams with the initial velocities of the order of 0.4–0.8c undergo a sufficient deceleration which is characterized by a decrease in their mean velocity by 15–17% between plasma levels at 25 to 6.25 MHz. The stream deceleration becomes more essential with the growth of the initial velocity of the stream. On the other hand, the deceleration disappears when the initial velocity of the stream is of the order of 0.35c. This critical velocityV s * - 0.35c is assumed to define a boundary between two different expansion regimes of fast electrons moving in the solar corona. In the first regime (V s >V s * ) the induced scattering of plasma waves produces energy losses of the streams. A decrease in the velocities of streams up to the value of the order of 0.35c is due to these losses. In the second regime (V s -V s * ) a quasilinear expansion of streams is realized. In this case the energy losses of the streams are almost absent.  相似文献
