本文对羊八井地热田钻扎ZK-201、ZK-301和ZK-308的岩心进行了较系统的蚀变矿物学、岩石学和流体包体研究。划分出6个蚀变矿物共生组合及蚀变分带,讨论了蚀变过程中岩石化学变化的特点,并推测了蚀变的温度和酸碱度条件。研究表明,热田曾处于极度的活动状态,最高温度达220-240℃,由于冷水的入侵,热田在目前钻探所及范围已冷却了50-70℃。蚀变矿物分布模式表明,目前热田流体主通道位于北部,热田进一步的开发应以寻找北部深部高温流体为主。  相似文献

The mineral assemblage and the sedimentological characteristics of the “Donauplatin” (Danubian fluvial placer containing platinum-group elements (PGE) and gold (Au)) are described for the first time in connection with upstream reference placer deposits near the potential source area in tributaries of the River Danube/Donau. Granulometric and morphometric data have been obtained using the CCD-based CAMSIZER technique. The platinum-group minerals (PGM; iridium, osmium, unknown iridium-osmium-sulfide, ruthenium-osmium-iridium alloys, platinum-iron alloys, iridium-bearing platinum, sperrylite) have been derived from ultramafic magmatic rocks, probably belonging to the ophiolitic series in the Tepla Barrandian unit of the Bohemian Massif. The Au-Pd-Cu compounds in the placer originated from dynamo-metamorphogenic processes in a sulfur-deficient environment at the SW edge of the Bavarian Basement. Gold in the “Donauplatin” has been reworked from a “secondary” or intermediate repository of lateritic gold (Boddington-type). Its primary source is supposed to be of orogenic origin. Provenance analyses of the associated non-heavy minerals point to high-pressure metamorphic rocks, igneous rocks (monazite) and high-temperature metamorphic rocks (750° to 850°C, zircon morphology). Garnet compositions indicate that meta(ultra)basic igneous rocks, calc-silicate rocks and skarns prevailed over paragneisses in the provenance area. Extraterrestrial processes creating the well-known Ries impact crater in the environs of Nördlingen during the Miocene have a minor share in the PGE budget by delivering molybdenum-ruthenium-osmium-iridium alloys and iridium solid-solution series (s.s.s.) minerals. Judging by the heavy mineral suites, Saxothuringian source rocks of the NE Bavarian Basement connected with the Donau River via the Naab River drainage system have not contributed to the element budget of the “Donauplatin” under study. Stream sediments which have been derived from this provenance area are characterized by low-temperature (LT) crystalline rocks and a considerable proportion of pegmatitic and metabauxitic material lacking in the Holocene sediments of the “Donauplatin”.  相似文献

The clay mineralogy of the Newark Supergroup (Upper Triassic/Lower Jurassic) in the Connecticut Valley was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Clay minerals identified in 126 samples are illite, chlorite, smectite, kaolinite, vermiculite, expandable chlorite, mixed-layer illite/smectite, mixed-layer chlorite/smectite, and mixed-layer chlorite/vermiculite. In general, the rocks are illitic with subordinate amounts of chlorite. However, the various lithofacies in the Newark Supergroup are characterized by distinct clay-mineral assemblages. Red beds of floodplain origin contain clays mainly of detrital nature with 2M illite most abundant. Subordinate amounts of chlorite, smectite, vermiculite, kaolinite and mixed-layer illite/smectite are also present. An interstratified chlorite/vermiculite occurs in red mudstone underlying basalt flows. Lacustrine gray beds are generally characterized by the clay-mineral assemblage 1Md illite + chlorite with minor amounts of smectite ane expandable chlorite. An interstratified chlorite/smectite predominates in gray mudstone associated with perennial lake cycles in the East Berlin Formation. Black shales of deeper lacustrine origin contain the assemblage 1Md ifillite + trioctahedral smectite and traces of chlorite. Illite and smectite also occur as mixed-layer phases.In many respects, the distribution of clay minerals in the Connecticut Valley can be likened to the general scheme proposed for the Permo-Triassic basins of Europe and Africa. These display both vertical and horizontal variations in clay-mineral assemblages that reflect the chemical and spatiotemporal evolution of intrabasin depositional and diagenetic environments. Chemical data indicate that magnesium, especially, was concentrated in the black muds of large perennial lakes that intermittently occupied the Connecticut rift valley. Pore waters derived from these sediments played an important role in the development of Mg-rich 2 : 1 and interstratified clay minerals during early diagenesis.  相似文献

A combined petrographic/X-ray/electron microprobe and energy dispersive system investigation of sandstone cuttings from borehole Elmore # 1 near the center of the Salton Sea Geothermal Field has revealed numerous regular variations in the composition, texture, mineralogy and proportions of the authigenic layer silicate minerals in the temperature interval 185° C (411.5 m depth) to 361° C (2,169 m). At temperatures near 190° C, dolomite/ankerite+calcite-bearing sandstones contain an illite/mixed layer phase with 10% expandable layers (dolomite/ankerite zone). In shale, the percentage of expandable layers in the mixed layer phase changes from 10–15% at 185° C to 5% at 210° C (494 m). In the interval 250° C (620 m) to 325° C (1,135 m), the calcite+pyrite+epidote-bearing sandstones contain a layer silicate assemblage of chlorite and illite (chlorite-calcite zone). In the shallower portions of this metamorphic zone, the illite contains 0–5% expandable layers, while at depths greater than 725 m (275° C) it is completely free of expandable layers. On increasing temperature, the white mica shows regular decreases in SiIV, Mg and Fe, and increase in AlIV, AlVI, and interlayer occupancy, as it changes gradually from fine-grained illite (=textural sericite) to coarse-grained recrystallized phengitic white mica. In the same interval, chlorite shows decreases in AlVI and octahedral vacancies and an increase in total Mg+Fe. The sandstones range from relatively unmodified detrital-textured rocks with porosities up to 20% and high contents of illite near 250° C to relatively dense hornfelsic-textured rocks with trace amounts of chlorite and phengite and porosities near 5% at 325° C. Numerous complex reactions among detrital (allogenic) biotite, chlorite, and muscovite, and authigenic illite and chlorite, occur in the chlorite-calcite zone.Biotite appears, and calcite disappears, at a temperature near 325° C and a depth of 1,135m. The biotite zone so produced persists to 360° C in sandstone, at which temperature orthoclase disappears and andradite garnet appears at a depth near 2,155 m. Throughout the biotite zone and into the garnet zone, the biotite undergoes compositional changes that are very similar to those observed in illite/phengite in the chlorite-calcite zone, including increases in interlayer occupancy, AlIV, AlVI, and Ti, and decreases in F, SiIV, and Mg/Fet+Mg, on increasing temperature. Biotite thus changes from a siliceous, K-deficient biotite at the biotite isograd to a typical low-grade metamorphic biotite at temperatures near 360° C. Minor amounts of talc appear with biotite at the biotite isograd in sandstone, while actinolite appears in both sandstone and shale at temperatures near 340° C (1,325 m). Chlorite completely disappears from sandstone at temperatures of approximately 350° C (1,500 m), and diminishes abruptly in amount in the more chloritic shales at the same depth.  相似文献

Fourteen trace elements (La, Cr, Sc, Y, Yb, Ga, Ni, V, Be, Zr, Ge, Pb, Sn, Ce) have been determined by emission spectroscopy in the ash from 7–17 levels within four early Tertiary lignite seams from Wyoming, Texas and Alabama, and two elements (Cu, Zn) in the acid-soluble and acid-insoluble fractions of the samples by inductively coupled plasma arc emission spectrometry. These elements were also determined in the roof and floor strata enclosing the seams. The concentrations of a number of elements (e.g. Be, V, Cu, Y, Yb) were considerably higher in the coal ash than in the adjacent inorganic layers, and these elements are most probably associated with organic matter as coordination complexes. Several elements (Be, Y, Yb, Ga, Sc) were frequently found to be concentrated near the margins of the seam relative to the main body. One of the seams has a 6 cm “rider” separated from the top of the main seam by 9 cm of clayey sand. Analysis of fractions separated by specific gravity and solubility in acid showed this to be rich in trace elements, of which V, Be, Cu, Ni, Ge, Cr, Y, Yb, Ga and Sc appeared to be partly complexed with organic matter, and Sn and Pb were present only in minerals. The rider evidently acted as an efficient trap for unusually large amounts of many trace elements. Cluster analysis showed that the distributions of elements with depth in three of the seams represent three very distinctly separate populations of data; each seam constitutes a different geochemical problem.In a general discussion of the results of the whole series of three papers, a model describing the incorporation of inorganic components in peats is presented, based on the erosion of rocks by chelating organic acids and other agents, followed by transport in water and trapping of mineral grains and dissolved ions by the organic matter of peat. Inorganic materials in peat thus constitute the principal input of mineral matter into coals. The elements that tend to be enriched near the margins of lignite seams are mostly those that have complexed with organic matter. However, the data on this enrichment from our own and previously published work are quite variable, no doubt depending on the nature and efficiency of transport of the incoming cations.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die untersuchten Proben stammen aus einem Abbau im unteren Gipskeuper bei Kayh, Kreis Böblingen, Württemberg, Deutschland. Die unlöslichen Rückstände wurden durch Auflösung des Gipses mit NaCl-Lösung gewonnen. Die mineralogische Untersuchung mit dem Mikroskop und mit Hilfe der Röntgenbeugung ergab, daß die Lösungsrückstände überwiegend aus Mineralneubildungen bestehen.In den mikroskopischen Fraktionen herrscht Dolomit vor. Daneben enthalten alle Proben authigene Quarze und Kalifeldspäte. Diese sind im Innern monoklin mit sanidinähnlicher Optik. Auf die (010)-Flächen sind außen trikline Lamellen mit mikroklinartiger Optik aufgewachsen.In allen Tonfraktionen kommt Illit vor, der jedoch in den meisten Proben mengenmäßig von Corrensit übertroffen wird. Aus dem Vorkommen von Pseudomorphosen aus Corrensit nach Glimmer in einer der Proben kann man schließen, daß der Corrensit durch Einwirkung magnesiumreicher Lösungen auf Glimmer entstanden ist. Es ist wahrscheinlich, daß das bei dieser Reaktion freiwerdende Kalium die Neubildung der Kalifeldspäte bewirkt hat. Jedenfalls würde eine solche Reaktion das Fehlen von authigenem Albit erklären.
Mineralogical study of insoluble residues of gypsum from the Keuper
Summary The samples come from a gypsum quarry situated in the lower part of the gypsum bearing Keuper near Kayh, Württemberg, Germany. The insoluble residues were obtained by dissolving the gypsum in an aqueous solution of NaCl. The mineralogical study with the microscope and with X-ray diffraction has shown that the residues consist almost entirely of authigenic minerals.Dolomite is the prevailing mineral of the microscopic grain size fractions. All samples contain euhedral quartz and potash feldspars which have formed in the sediment after deposition. The latter have optical properties similar to sanidine in the interior of the crystals whereas lamellar overgrowths on the (010) faces exhibit oblique extinction similar to microcline.All of the clay fractions contain illite. In most samples, however, corrensite is the predominant clay mineral. From the occurrence of pseudomorphs of corrensite after a micaceous mineral in one of the samples it may be concluded that corrensite originated by the reaction of mice with solutions rich in magnesium. It is inferred that the potassium liberated by this reaction caused the neoformation of the potash feldspars. This mechanism would explain the total absence of authigenic albite.

Batu Hijau is a world-class gold-rich porphyry copper deposit, situated in Sumbawa Island, Indonesia. Deep drilling indicates that several intervals of calc-silicate rock were intersected, where they are apparently interbedded with volcaniclastic rocks. The calc-silicate rocks occur at the contact with copper-gold-bearing tonalite porphyries. The rocks are fine-grained and granular with green, reddish-brown and white layers. The green layers consist mostly of fine-grained clinopyroxene (diopside and hedenbergite) and the reddish-brown layers consist mostly of garnet (andradite), whereas the white layers are commonly composed of calcite and zeolite (chabazite). The calc-silicate rocks were formed by contact metasomatism of andesitic volcaniclastic rocks, as it is calcic in composition. Paragenesis study reveals at least two stages of calc-silicate mineralization. Stage 1 (prograde) is characterized by the presence of garnet (andradite), clinopyroxene (diopside and hedenbergite), anorthite and quartz at 340–360 C (high salinity 35–45 NaCl wt percentage eqn.). Stage 2 (retrograde) is characterized by chlorite and rare epidote at 280–300 C (low salinity 1–10 NaCl wt% eqn.). Late calcite ± quartz veinlets and calcite + chabazite veins/veinlets may also be related to this stage and cross cut the oldest mineral assemblages. Mineralization (magnetite, chalcopyrite and pyrite) may occur during the retrograde stage. Clinopyroxene and garnet were modified by Fe-rich hydrothermal fluid (oxidizing condition) indicated by increase of Fe from core to rim of both the cogenetic minerals. The presence of the calc-silicate rocks associated with massive magnetite-chalcopyrite-pyrite assemblage indicates the occurrence of calcic-exoskarn surrounding the Batu Hijau porphyry copper-gold deposit.  相似文献

The clay mineral composition of Keuper and Liassic clays and marls from Franconia (southern Germany) varies in a characteristic manner within the stratigraphic profile:

    Considerable amounts of montmorillonite are characteristic of the Upper Burgsandstein (higher part of Middle Keuper), and comparable amounts of illite-montmorillonite mixed-layers characterize the Feuerletten (top of Middle Keuper). In addition to these minerals, both units contain much illite and muscovite, some kaolinite and quartz, feldspars and carbonates. According to geologic investigations, both sediments are of terrestrial origin (semi-arid climatic conditions).  相似文献

In the Cretaceous flysch of the Northern Pyrenees, polymict conglomerates interbedded in the flysch are described from the vicinity of Orio (near San Sebastián). These contain components derived from rocks of all periods from Paleozoic to Lower Cretaceous. During Late Maastrichtian times a diapir, originated in Keupez evaporites, penetrated the deep-sea Cretaceous flysch which was still undergoing deposition. This resulted in the expulsion of large quantities of diapiric mass. After the solution of the evaporites the pebbles, which had been dragged along with the diapiric masses, slumped into a neighbouring marginal depression where they were redeposited. The reddish strata of Late Maastrichtian and Danian age in this region are interpreted as being out-thrust and transported Keuper shales. It will be shown that the other breccias and conglomerates described by Feuillé and Mathey (1972) from the Late Cretaceous of the Basque Pyrenees probably have the same origin.The comprehensive name “Vascongadian Diapir Zone” is suggested for the diapir field on the northern edge of the Basque sedimentary trough.  相似文献

西准噶尔吾尔喀什尔山与额敏盆地间的"盆"–"山"耦合关系清楚,盆地边界平行于造山带呈狭长带状展布。"山"区为志留系–石炭系海相陆源碎屑岩-火山岩沉积组合,"盆"区为二叠系陆相磨拉石与新近系红色砂砾岩及第四系河流阶地堆积,具有典型的海相-陆相双层结构。盆缘被巴尔雷克前陆冲断带围限,"山"区发育铲式逆冲断层与蛇头构造、叠瓦扇构造等逆冲推覆构造。表明该"盆"–"山"组合为一典型的前陆盆地系统。额敏前陆盆地形成于早二叠世,属后期冲断变形影响较弱、早期前陆盆地结构特征较明显的"早衰型"前陆盆地。这一成果为额敏盆地乃至西准噶尔盆地分析、构造演化、沉积作用、"盆"–"山"耦合等研究提供了重要信息。  相似文献

The geothermal setting of the archaeological site at Aghia Kyriaki, Southeast Melos (or Milos) was investigated in order to help clarify the possible role of the site in mineral exploitation on Melos in Roman times. There are active sulfurous fumaroles in the area and these were also potential sources of sulfur and alum‐group minerals in Roman times. However, geothermal activity has been ongoing in Southeast Melos for hundreds of thousands of years, and extensive hydrothermal alteration of basement rocks to the northeast of the site has produced “white rocks” containing additional potential industrial minerals such as kaolin and alunite. The archaeological remains occur within, but mainly near the surface, of a deeply gullied sequence of late Quaternary alluvial sediments, which consist mainly of metamorphic detritus but are rich in sulfates; the remains contain pottery sherds through the entire sequence of about 40 m. They were deposited on an earlier gullied topography of felsic tuffs overlying the metamorphic basement. Pervasive and veinlike intense reddish alteration of these sediments is probably mainly due to superheated fluid escaping from depth. Field observations demonstrate that this took place after the main phase of building but was likely to be ongoing during occupation of the site. While industrial minerals and geothermal energy would therefore have been available in the Roman period, any relationship of the site to mineral exploitation will have to be determined by archaeological excavation. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Glauconite     
The term glauconite has been employed in two senses. It has been used most commonly as a morphological term for sand-sized greenish grains found in sedimentary rocks, but also as a name for a specific mineral species, a hydrated iron-rich micaceous clay mineral. The two uses are not synonymous, since not all morphological glauconite consists exclusively of mineral glauconite, nor is the latter restricted in its occurrence to such pellets. Mineral glauconite in sensu lato is a random interstratification of nonexpanding 10A?layers and expanding montmorillonitic layers. The amount of expandable layers may be over 50 % but it is customary to restrict the name mineral glauconite in sensu stricto to varieties with less than 10 % expandable layers. The variation in amount of expandable layers explains many of the observed variations in the properties of glauconite including chemical composition (especially potassium content), thermal characteristics, cation exchange capacity, colour, refractive index and specific gravity. Mineral glauconite is believed to form by the progressive absorption of potassium and iron by a degraded layer silicate lattice of low lattice charge and elimination of other silicate-lattice types under suitable environmental conditions, of which the most critical seems to be the redox potential. The catalytic activity of marine organisms is no longer thought to be essential, although decaying organic matter and empty foraminiferal tests supply the ideal environment for glauconite genesis. The process of glauconitization is arrested by rapid sedimentation, so that there is a relationship between the variety of mineral glauconite formed and the nature of the host rock. Glauconite is found associated particularly with marine transgressions. Morphological glauconite grains are believed to form as casts, faecal pellets or by accretionary growth, but may have their morphology modified by subsequent re-working. A number of characteristic internal and external morphologies have been recognised. The wide range of environmental conditions suitable for its formation and its common detrital occurrence debars the use of glauconite in palaeo-environmental studies. Its major use in geology is for the absolute age dating of sedimentary rocks by the K-Ar method. Glauconitic deposits have no present day commercial value, but soils formed on glauconitic parent materials are notable for their fertility. Glauconite weathers by loss of potassium to produce a montmorillonitic or vermiculitic product with the release of, or oxidation of, structural iron, so that the grain has the appearance of having weathered to limonite.  相似文献

Sub-alkaline to calc-alkaline granite dominates the high-level plutonic massif of the Serra de Sintra, while two overlapping ring complexes recognised within it consist of four distinct alkaline to sub-alkaline quartz-bearing syenitic units, together with intrusions of a remarkable kaersutite- and (titan?)biotite-bearing theralite heteromorph (Mafraite), contaminated to varying degrees by sialic admixture. Large volumes of sub-volcanic breccia testify to considerable late explosive activity in and near the ring centres. Minor intrusives are approximate compositional counterparts of the plutonic rocks, but more closely resemble lavas forming the extensive “basaltic mantle” of the Lisbon region, where compositions range from olivine basalt, basanite and theralite (luscladite) to subordinate quartz-bearing trachyandesite and trachyte. Undersaturated salic rocks are absent throughout the province. Magmatic differentiation probably played a minimal part in petrogenesis of the Sintra intrusives. The granite is interpreted as a direct product of basement syntexis, the other rocks as products of selective palingenetic reactions between mafraitic magma and crystalline basement (or granite). Evolution of the volcanic and hypabyssal rocks may have been controlled by similar reactions, but evidence favouring differentiation of this suite from sialcontaminated basic parents is almost as strong. There are some points of resemblance between this province and that of the Auvergne region in southern France.  相似文献

金云母-蛭石间层矿物由金云母晶层与蛭石晶层交叠排列而成,采用一般计算方法得出的晶体化学式不能充分揭示结构中金云母晶层与蛭石晶层各自的晶体化学特征。本文以化学成分分析与阳离子容量为基础,假定可交换性阳离子均为蛭石晶层层间阳离子,非交换性阳离子为金云母晶层层间阳离子,金云母晶层与蛭石晶层具有相同的八面体层等,计算出了结构中两种晶层的分晶层晶体化学式,确定了结构中两种晶层的比例和蛭石晶层的电荷数。并在此基础上讨论了新疆尉犁蛭石矿金云母-蛭石间层矿物的晶体化学特征。结果表明该方法设计合理,符合晶体化学原理,所计算的数据可靠。利用该方法计算出的两种晶层的比例为金云母-蛭石1:1规则间层矿物的确定提供了必要的依据。也为其它类似间层矿物的研究提供了一种计算分晶层晶体化学式的可行方法。  相似文献

Mineral particles could have influenced on the climate of Oviedo, a non-industrial city situated in the centre of an industrial zone of the North of Spain, increasing the temperature and the precipitations, in spite of the fact that “greenhouse gases” concentrations have diminished in this city in recent years. The directive (1999/30/EC) of the European Commission began to be applied in Oviedo in the year 2003. In agreement with this norm, our first aim was the identification of the inorganic particulate matter of the PM10 and PM2.5 fractions sampled in this city. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy coupled with X-ray dispersive energy spectrometry were used. The percentages of the different mineral phases of the PM were obtained by a Rietveld refinement of powder X-ray diffraction data. The compositions of the PM10 and PM2.5 fractions of this city are similar. Sulphates are the most abundant particles in the both fractions. Most sulphates, nitrates and sal-ammoniac would have formed by reaction between solid, liquid and/or gas particles and they could be associated with the power stations near to the city and traffic. Wüstite and haematites come from the iron and steel industries of Gijón and Avilés. The main natural sources of halite and carbonates and silicates are sea spray and soil resuspension by the wind, respectively.  相似文献

采用文献计量方法对中国地质科学的研究现状开展了定量的学科评价。根据中国地质文献数据库的资料,对中国科学院、中国地质调查局和高等院校三大系统2003—2007年发表的地学文献,按照基础地质、矿产资源、环境地质、技术方法四大类及若干国际热点学科/领域进行了统计。初步分析结果表明,中国科学院在第四纪地质、古生物学等基础地质研究方面国内处于领先地位,在跟踪国际热点和前沿学科方面明显走在国内各部门的前列;中国地质调查局在金属矿产、变质岩、探矿工程等学科方面优势明显;高等院校发表论文数量最多,各学科发展比较均衡,相对而言,沉积岩、工程地质和数学地质具有一定的优势。总体上,中国已经是一个地学大国,但一些国际热点学科(例如行星地质、极地地质、全球变化等)还处于明显的弱势。  相似文献

Rare strontium mineral tausonite and a peculiar Al- and F-rich titanite variety were found in the metamorphosed metalliferous sediments of the Triassic chert formation of the Sikhote Alin, which are distinguished by the abundance of native elements, intermetallic compounds, and metal solid solutions, as well as the presence of diverse Au, Ag, and PGE minerals. Tausonite was documented in the manganese (metamorphosed siliceous-rhodochrosite) rocks of the Ol’ga mining district and in the “brown cherts” (siliceous rocks with manganese garnet and spessartine) of the Dal’nerechensk district, Primorye. It forms rather numerous grains 2–10 μm across usually occurring as inclusions in quartz or rhodonite. According to the electron microprobe analysis, in addition to Sr, Ti, and O, the mineral contains only Fe3+ (up to 0.20 a.f.u.). Aluminum-fluorine titanite was found in the “brown cherts” of the Dal’nerechensk district of Primorye (upper reaches of the Gornaya River). Its crystals are up to 200 × 200 μm in size. The recalculation of the microprobe analyses to crystal chemical formulas indicated that up to half of the Ti sites in the structure of this mineral may be occupied by Al. The decrease of the total positive charge owing to the Al3+ substitution for tetravalent Ti4+ is compensated for by a decrease in the total negative charge owing to F? substitution for O2? via the scheme Al3+F? → Ti4+O2?. The occurrence of considerable amounts of F substituting for oxygen in the titanite structure and, as a consequence (owing to the crystal chemical features of the mineral), the high Al content were related to the reduced character of the metamorphism of the metalliferous deposits.  相似文献

The 87Sr86Sr ratios and Sr concentrations of the non-carbonate fractions of sediment from two cores taken in the median valley of the Red Sea indicate that the detrital fractions are mixtures of two components originating from old sialic and young volcanic rocks of the surrounding land areas. The mixing equations were derived from the data and were used to estimate the Sr concentrations of the two components. The volcanogenic detritus has a Sr content between 770 and 800 ppm while the component derived from old sialic rocks contains from 50 to 70 ppm. The volcanic component consists primarily of unweathered particles of alkali basalt and volcanic glass while the sialic component is represented by clay minerals and X-ray amorphous material. Systematic variations of the concentration of volcanogenic detritus were used to define layers of sediment which correlate over a distance of about 200 km separating the two cores. The concentrations of quartz, feldspar, amphibole, illite, kaolinite and chlorite were found to vary systematically with the content of volcanogenic detritus as calculated from the Sr data. The carbonate concentrations of the sediment range from 33 to 87% and appear to increase in a southerly direction. The rate of carbonate deposition increased at times of more efficient input of sediment derived from old sialic rocks. This relationship is explained by the hypothesis that both were influenced indirectly by brief warming trends during the Würm glaciation. The occurrence of sediment layers enriched in sediment derived from old sialic rocks correlates approximately with interstadials of the Würm glaciation in northern Europe. Increased input of volcanogenic detritus occurred around 37,000 and 26,000yr ago and during the past 5000 yr. A plot of 87Sr86Sr and 87Rb86Sr ratios defines a line on the Rb-Sr isochron diagram yielding a fictitious date of about 230 million yr.  相似文献

Detailed morpho- and lithostratigraphic investigations, allied with radiometric dating, in the Voidomatis basin, Epirus, northwest Greece, have identified four Quaternary terraced alluvial fills that range from middle Pleistocene to historic in age. Major-periods of alluviation during the late Quaternary were associated with valley glaciation (ca. 26,000–20,000 yr B.P.) and subsequent deglaciation (ca. 20,000–15,000 yr B.P.) in the Pindus Mountains during Late Würmian times, and more recently linked to overgrazing sometime before the 11th century AD. The late Quaternary alluvial stratigraphy of the Voidomatis River is more complex than the “Older Fill” and “Younger Fill” model outlined previously, and it is suggested that these terms should no longer form the basis for defining alluvial stratigraphic units in the Mediterranean Basin.  相似文献

Data set of rocks and glasses whose compositions correspond to the term “adakite” (SiO2 > 56 wt %, Sr > 400 ppm, Sr/Y > 18) was compiled from two large geochemical data bases. It was revealed that the adakitic melts are characterized by extremely low abundance as compared to adakitic rocks. Only 50 adakitic compositions (~0.5%) were identified in the data base that includes the major and trace element compositions of over 9700 quenched and melt inclusion glasses. It was established that only 22 of selected analyses characterize melt inclusion glasses, while other analyses represent residual glass or “pocket melts” in ultramafic mantle xenoliths. The question of a genetic relationship between adakitic rocks, adakitic melts, and melting of subsiding plate remains open. Original data on the Shiveluch volcanic center (Kamchatka) were used to demonstrate the formation of adakitic signatures through mineral accumulation.  相似文献
