The accelerated particle energy spectra in different energy intervals (from 0.06 to 75.69 MeV n–1) have been constructed for various powerful flare events (1997–2006) with the appearance of solar cosmic rays (SCRs) based on the processing of data from the Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) and WIND spacecraft. Flares were as a rule accompanied by coronal mass ejections. Different specific features in the particle spectra behavior, possibly those related to different acceleration processes, were revealed when the events developed. The Fe/O abundance ratio in different energy intervals during the disturbed development of flareinduced fluxes has been qualitatively estimated. It has been established that ground level event (GLE) fluxes represent an individual subclass of gradual events according to the character of Fe/O variations. The manifestations of the first ionization potential (FIP) effect in the composition of SCRs during their propagation have been qualitatively described.  相似文献

We present a compelling similarity of impulsive nitrate enhancements observed in polar ice from the northern and southern hemispheres. This analysis concentrates on the period 1940–1950, during which time the first four recorded solar cosmic ray ground-level enhancements (GLEs) occurred. GLEs are strong solar proton events. We show that large and sudden enhancements in the nitrate records from both hemispheres were observed within weeks following the recorded solar cosmic ray ground-level event. The observation of impulsive nitrate enhancements simultaneously in both hemispheres shortly after a large fluence solar proton event is strong evidence in support of a causal connection and argues strongly for rapid transport of atmospheric nitrates generated through the polar atmosphere by energetic solar proton events.  相似文献

On the basis of data from the Radio Solar Telescope Network (RSTN), as well as the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) and the WIND spacecraft, for the period from 1989 to 2006 covering 107 flare events, we investigated the relationship between the intensity of solar cosmic rays and parameters of continuum radio bursts (25?C15400 MHz), as well as type II radio bursts in the meter and decahectometer wavelength ranges. Proton fluxes with energies E p > 1?100 MeV were calculated with regard to a reduced heliolongitude. The maximum correlation between solar cosmic rays and solar parameters of microwave bursts was 0.80. Its value was no more than 0.40 for the drift rate of type II bursts and 0.70 for the compression rate of coronal shock waves. Based on linear regression equations, we estimated the contribution of coronal shock waves to the acceleration of protons. We found that major acceleration processes occur in the area of burst energy release and complimentary processes occur at the fronts of coronal shock waves. The contribution of the latter to the acceleration process increases significantly with proton energy.  相似文献

The responses of element abundances to the atmospheric model were statistically analyzed. The summarized 1998 data (1D models) and summarized 2009 data (3D models) were compared. A significant statistical dependence between the response value and the first ionization potential (FIP) of an element was shown. This phenomenon may be caused by the presence of regions in the photosphere where the temperature and magnetic field configuration favor fractionation of neutrals and ions. This, in turn, leads to a certain diffusion process similar to the coronal FIP effect. This type of diffusion is not taken into account in photospheric models. In this case, a new chemical composition of the Sun (3D) with decreased C, N, O and Ne abundances is appropriate only to narrow layers in the lower chromospheres (and possibly in the deep photosphere) and does not require revision of the standard solar model.  相似文献

根据CRRES卫星上MICS离子成分探测器的观测资料以及前人有关AMPTE卫星的观测数据,研究了地磁活动和太阳活动性对环电流成分以及各种环电流离子的最大通量位置的影响. 观测表明相对于地磁平静时期,在地磁活动的活跃时期,环电流中O+、He++和He+离子的数密度和能量密度占环电流总数密度和总能量密度的份额增加,相反H+离子所占的比例却明显减少. 太阳活动极大年时环电流中H+离子丰度比极小年时低,而O+和He++离子的丰度却比太阳活动极小年时高. 卫星数据观测还表明,在地球磁暴期间,环电流中O+离子和He+离子的最大通量位置会随着地磁的活动径向移动,平均来看太阳活动极大年的能量粒子最大数密度位置距离地球比极小年时约小0.5RE (RE 为地球半径).  相似文献

Track densities of heavy cosmic rays have been studied in hypersthene crystals taken from seven known depths below a fusion crust in the Shalka meteorite. By comparing these with a theoretical model, a preatmospheric radius of 20 ± 2cm has been estimated for the meteorite, assuming it to have been originally spherical. The fossil track-length distributions show a prominent peak in the region of 12–15 μm; and this has been attributed, on the basis of accelerated-ion calibration experiments, to cosmic ray Fe ions. The value (≥0.38 ± 0.04) of relative abundance of Fe ions to the total Fe-group ions (20 ≤ Z. ≤ 28) found in the cosmic ray flux averaged over the last ~19 m.y. is shown to be broadly similar to those given by present-day measurements.  相似文献

The observations of solar activity (average monthly values of the international sunspot numbers and areas, solar radioemission flux at a wavelength of 10.7 cm) and galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity (average monthly values of the count rate of an omnidirectional Geiger counter at a maximum of the transition curve in the regions of Moscow and Murmansk and differences between these values) have been studied. The main aim of the studies was to assess the possibility of using the series of GCR values as an additional type of instrumental observations to predict solar activity. The results of an analysis made it possible to assess the degree of interrelation between the studied time series and, thereby, to confirm that GCRs, together with the characteristics of sunspot formation and solar radioemission flux at a wavelength of 10.7 cm, can be used to predict solar activity. The development of the current solar cycle has been predicted. It is assumed that the duration of this cycle will exceed the average value.  相似文献

All significant events in galactic cosmic rays for the last 55 years have been collected in a Forbush effect database created at the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere, and Radiowave Propagation (hereinafter, IZMIRAN) based on data from the global network of neutron monitors. The solar sources of ~800 of these events have been identified. These events were divided into five groups with respect to the heliolongitudes of the associated X-ray solar flares, and typical behavior of their characteristics such as cosmic ray density and anisotropy, was studied independently for each group. The Forbush effect characteristics, which are the most dependent on the source heliolongitude, have been identified.  相似文献

本文对比分析了太阳活动高、低年期间高纬日侧顶部电离层离子上行随地磁活动水平的变化特征.按地磁活动水平,将DMSP卫星在太阳活动高年(2000-2002年,F13和F15)及太阳活动低年(2007-2009年,F13;2007-2010年,F15)期间的SSIES离子漂移速度观测数据分为三组:地磁平静期(Kp<3),中等地磁扰动期(3 ≤ Kp < 5)和强地磁活动期(Kp ≥ 5),分别统计分析了高纬日侧顶部电离层离子上行特征的时空分布.对比分析发现:(1)太阳活动低年期间,高纬日侧电离层离子上行发生率以及上行速度峰值均是太阳活动高年的2倍多,而离子上行通量峰值只有高年的1/6-1/4;(2)在相同太阳活动条件下,地磁活动水平对日侧电离层离子上行发生率峰值的影响并不明显,但对离子上行发生率的空间分布有着显著的控制作用:电离层离子上行高发区随地磁活动向低纬度扩展,并在强地磁活动期间呈现饱和的趋势;(3)日侧顶部电离层等离子体似乎存在两个效率相当的上行区域,一个位于极尖/极隙区纬度附近,离子可沿开放磁力线上行进入磁尾;另一个位于晨侧亚极光区附近,离子沿闭合磁力线上行,有可能进入日侧等离子体层边界层.  相似文献

The solar wind modulates the flux of galactic cosmic rays impinging on Earth inversely with solar activity. Cosmic ray ionisation is the major source of air's electrical conductivity over the oceans and well above the continents. Differential solar modulation of the cosmic ray energy spectrum modifies the cosmic ray ionisation at different latitudes, varying the total atmospheric columnar conductance. This redistributes current flow in the global atmospheric electrical circuit, including the local vertical current density and the related surface potential gradient. Surface vertical current density and potential gradient measurements made independently at Lerwick Observatory, Shetland, from 1978 to 1985 are compared with modelled changes in cosmic ray ionisation arising from solar activity changes. Both the lower troposphere atmospheric electricity quantities are significantly increased at cosmic ray maximum (solar minimum), with a proportional change greater than that of the cosmic ray change.  相似文献

Cosmic rays are considered as a possible link coupling solar activity to atmospheric processes. The most intense types of cosmic ray flux modulations are briefly described as a source of variability in the ion production rate in the atmosphere. The ions may affect atmospheric phenomena through (1) charge-dependent chemical reactions, (2) charge-dependent droplet and ice crystal formation, and (3) as their influence on the current flowing in the global electric circuit. However, the latter two have still to be proved as the causes of correlations between changes in the large-scale meteorological parameters and cosmic ray flux variations.  相似文献

During the prolonged and deep minimum of solar activity between cycles 23 and 24, an unusual behavior of the heliospheric characteristics and increased intensity of galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) near the Earth’s orbit were observed. The maximum of the current solar cycle 24 is lower than the previous one, and the decline in solar and, therefore, heliospheric activity is expected to continue in the next cycle. In these conditions, it is important for an understanding of the process of GCR modulation in the heliosphere, as well as for applied purposes (evaluation of the radiation safety of planned space flights, etc.), to estimate quantitatively the possible GCR characteristics near the Earth in the upcoming solar minimum (~2019–2020). Our estimation is based on the prediction of the heliospheric characteristics that are important for cosmic ray modulation, as well as on numeric calculations of GCR intensity. Additionally, we consider the distribution of the intensity and other GCR characteristics in the heliosphere and discuss the intercycle variations in the GCR characteristics that are integral for the whole heliosphere (total energy, mean energy, and charge).  相似文献

We have analyzed high time resolution (6 s) data during the onset and the decay phase of several energetic (35 keV) ion events observed near the Earths bow shock by the CCE/AMPTE and IMP-7/8 spacecraft, during times of intense substorm/geomagnetic activity. We found that forward energy dispersion at the onset of events (earlier increase of middle energy ions) and/or a delayed fall of the middle energy ion fluxes at the end of events are often evident in high time resolution data. The energy spectra at the onset and the decay of this kind of events show a characteristic hump at middle (50–120 keV) energies and the angular distributions display either anisotropic or broad forms. The time scale of energy dispersion in the ion events examined was found to range from several seconds to 1 h depending on the ion energies compared and on the rate of variation of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) direction. Several canditate processes are discussed to explain the observations and it is suggested that a rigidity dependent transport process of magnetospheric particles within the magnetosheath is most probably responsible for the detection of this new type of near bow shock magnetospheric ion events. The new class of ion events was observed within both the magnetosheath and the upstream region.  相似文献

The cosmic ray flux through the atmosphere at different levels of solar activity is simulated. The Geant program package has been used to determine the atmospheric zones where the maximal contrast of the released ray energy originates between the periods of solar minimum and maximum. The geographic coordinates and altitudes of these zones have been calculated. The results can be used to search for statistical correlations between the solar activity variations and dynamics of atmospheric transparency.  相似文献

The propagation of cosmic rays in the Earth??s atmosphere is simulated. Calculations of the omnidirectional differential flux of neutrons for different solar activity levels are illustrated. The solar activity effect on the production rate of cosmogenic radiocarbon by the nuclear-interacting and muon components of secondary cosmic radiation in polar ice is studied. It has been obtained that the 14C production rates in ice by the cosmic ray nuclear-interacting component are lower or higher than the average value by 30% during periods of solar activity maxima or minima, respectively. Calculations of the altitudinal dependence of the radiocarbon production rate in ice by the cosmic radiation components are illustrated.  相似文献

The magnetospheric ion composition spectrometer MICS on the Swedish Viking satellite provided measurements of the ion composition in the energy range 10.1 keV/e\leqE/Q\leq326.0 keV/e. Data obtained during orbit 842 were used to investigate the ion distribution in the northern polar cusp and its vicinity. The satellite traversed the outer ring current, boundary region, cusp proper and plasma mantle during its poleward movement. H+ and He++ ions were encountered in all of these regions. He+ ions were present only in the ring current. The number of O+ and O++ ions was very small. Heavy high-charge state ions typical for the solar wind were observed for the first time, most of them in the poleward part of the boundary region and in the cusp proper. The H+ ions exhibited two periods with high intensities. One of them, called the BR/CP event, appeared at energies up to 50 keV. It started at the equatorward limit of the boundary region and continued into the cusp proper. Energy spectra indicate a ring current origin for the BR/CP event. Pitch angle distributions show downward streaming of H+ ions at its equatorward limit and upward streaming on the poleward side. This event is interpreted as the result of pitch angle scattering of ring current ions by fluctuations in the magnetopause current layer in combination with poleward convection. The other of the two periods with high H+ ion intensities, called the accelerated ion event, was superimposed on the BR/CP event. It was restricted to energies \leq15 keV and occurred in the poleward part of the boundary region. This event is regarded as the high-energy tail of magnetosheath ions that were accelerated while penetrating into the magnetosphere. The cusp region thus contains ions of magnetospheric as well as of magnetosheath origin. The appearance of the ions depends, in addition to the ion source, on the magnetic field configuration and dynamic processes inside and close to the cusp.  相似文献

This is a study of the negative ion chemistry in the mesosphere above Tromsø using a number of EISCAT observations of high energy proton precipitation events during the last solar maximum, and in particular around sunset on 23 October, 1989. In these conditions it is possible to look at the relative importance of the various photodetachment and photodissociation processes controlling the concentration of negative ions. The data analysed are from several UHF GEN11 determinations of the ion-plasma ACF together with the pseudo zero-lag estimate of the ‘raw’ electron density, at heights between 55 km and 85 km, at less than 1 km resolution. The power profiles from the UHF are combined with the 55-ion Sodankylä model to obtain consistent estimates of the electron density, the negative ion concentrations, and the average ion mass with height. The neutral concentrations and ion temperature are given by the MSIS90 model. These parameters are then used to compare the calculated widths of the ion-line with the GEN11 determinations. The ion-line spectrum gives information on the effects of negative ions below 70 km where they are dominant; the spectral width is almost a direct measure of the relative abundance of negative ions.  相似文献
