Prior research on tropical storm systems that have made landfall and undergone a period of sustainability or reintensification has been linked to the synoptic environment at the time the storm restrengthened. Tropical Storm (TS) Erin is an interesting case study in that it did not take on hurricane-like structure nor reach hurricane intensity until it moved through west-central Oklahoma on August 19, 2007. This study seeks to examine the possible impact of anomalously wet soils across much of Oklahoma on the reintensification of TS Erin during the early morning hours of August 19, 2007. To determine the degree to which the antecedent soil state impacted TS Erin??s inland evolution and reintensification, analyses of the synoptic environment and the mesoscale environment/boundary layer environment are undertaken using operational and research datasets such as upper air soundings, surface soil moisture and temperature data, and multiple products from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) mesoanalysis archive. This observational assessment is complemented with numerical experiments using the Weather Research and Forecast Model, Advanced Research Version 3.2 (WRF-ARW) to further study the role of soil moisture availability and surface fluxes that may have led to the boundary layer feedback and inland reintensification. Observational analysis and model results indicate that anomalously wet conditions over the central Oklahoma region may have helped develop a regional boundary layer feedback that appears to have contributed to the inland reintensification of TS Erin. Thus, the anomalously wet land surface had a positive role in TS Erin reintensifying over Oklahoma during the early morning hours of August 19, 2007.  相似文献

Realistic simulation/prediction of the Asian summer monsoon rainfall on various space–time scales is a challenging scientific task. Compared to mid-latitudes, a proportional skill improvement in the prediction of monsoon rainfall in the medium range has not happened in recent years. Global models and data assimilation techniques are being improved for monsoon/tropics. However, multi-model ensemble (MME) forecasting is gaining popularity, as it has the potential to provide more information for practical forecasting in terms of making a consensus forecast and handling model uncertainties. As major centers are exchanging model output in near real-time, MME is a viable inexpensive way of enhancing the forecasting skill and information content. During monsoon 2008, on an experimental basis, an MME forecasting of large-scale monsoon precipitation in the medium range was carried out in real-time at National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), India. Simple ensemble mean (EMN) giving equal weight to member models, bias-corrected ensemble mean (BCEMn) and MME forecast, where different weights are given to member models, are the products of the algorithm tested here. In general, the aforementioned products from the multi-model ensemble forecast system have a higher skill than individual model forecasts. The skill score for the Indian domain and other sub-regions indicates that the BCEMn produces the best result, compared to EMN and MME. Giving weights to different models to obtain an MME product helps to improve individual member models only marginally. It is noted that for higher rainfall values, the skill of the global model rainfall forecast decreases rapidly beyond day-3, and hence for day-4 and day-5, the MME products could not bring much improvement over member models. However, up to day-3, the MME products were always better than individual member models.  相似文献

Land use and land cover (LULC) changes caused by human activities have strong influences on regional environment. Land surface temperate plays an important role in studying the impact of LULC changes on regional environment. In this paper, remotely sensed thermal infrared data were used to assess land surface temperature (LST) in the Weigan and Kuqa river oasis, Xingjiang, one of the important agricultural areas in the northwestern China. The present study deals with the extraction of LST and the relationship between LULC changes using Landsat 5 TM acquired on September 25, 1989, and September 6, 2011. The results indicate that the surface temperature of water body, bare land, and desert changed significantly between 1989 and 2011. In general, the LST was lower in 1989 than in 2011. There were no lower, higher, and highest temperature zones in 1989. However, the minimum temperature was 10.7 °C in 1989 and 15.8 °C in 2011. The maximum temperature was 29.3 °C in 1989 and 41.8 °C in 2011. Regarding the LULC types, the desert features in the Gobi Desert warmed more quickly than the oasis. So, the temperature of the oasis was lower than the surrounded areas, resulting in a so-called “cold island” phenomenon. Oasis cold island effect index (OCIEI) shows that stability of oasis had rising trend from 1989 to 2011. In addition, the impact of LULC changes on LST was analyzed and the driving forces were also analyzed from 1977 to 2011. This study is significant for further understanding of the energy exchange status of soil-plant-atmospheric system and the regional heat distribution in arid and semi-arid areas of the northwest China.  相似文献

道面结冰是北京地区高速公路交通安全的主要危害因素。利用北京地区2008-2015年28个ROSA交通气象站的结冰数据分析了北京地区高速公路道面结冰的基本特征。结果表明:(1)北京市高速公路道面结冰空间差异显著,不同高速公路结冰特征显著不同,同一高速公路不同路段结冰特征也明显不同,这与高速公路各路段局地气候存在差异有关。(2)道面结冰主要发生在北部和东部高速公路所在路段,以小汤山西桥站、顾家庄桥站、六道口桥站和丁各庄桥站道面结冰灾害最为严重。冬季道面结冰月变化显著,11月和3月,结冰次数较少,结冰持续时间短;12月、1月和2月结冰次数多,结冰持续时间长。(3)持续时间越长的结冰过程结冰次数越少。不同持续时间的结冰过程在各时段的结冰次数和累积结冰时长均存在明显差异,两者在各时刻的演变特征基本相同,峰值均出现在22:00,且在00:00之后呈明显减少趋势。(4)大部分站点慢车道比快车道更容易结冰,少部分站点快、慢车道结冰率近似,有的站点甚至快车道结冰率远高于慢车道。快、慢车道水或覆盖物厚度与交通站点所处位置的局地气象条件密切相关。(5)气温、道面温度和大地温度与水或覆盖物的厚度变化呈反相位,即温度越低,水或覆盖物的厚度越大。这可为北京地区道面结冰预报预警方法的开展提供着眼点和依据。  相似文献

2008年5月12日14时28分,青藏高原东缘龙门山地区(四川汶川)发生了Ms8.0级地震。震后野外考察表明,5.12汶川地震发生在NE走向的龙门山断裂带上,该断裂带晚新生代以来的逆冲速率小于1mm/a,GPS观察结果表明其缩短速率小于3mm/a。这次5.12汶川地震造成了多条同震逆冲地表破裂带,总体长约275km,宽约15km,发震断裂机制主要为逆冲作用(由NW向SE逆冲)伴随右旋走滑。地表主破裂带沿龙门山断裂带的映秀—北川断裂发育,长约275km,笔者称为映秀—北川破裂带,破裂带具有逆冲兼右旋走滑性质。地表次级破裂带沿龙门山断裂带的前缘断裂安县—灌县断裂南段发育,长80km,笔者称为汉旺破裂带,破裂带基本为纯逆冲性质。在这两条破裂带之间发育两条更次一级的同震地表破裂带:一条长约20km呈NE走向的地表破裂带,笔者称为深溪沟破裂带,由于这条破裂带靠近主破裂带南段,并且与主破裂带变形特征一致,因此,笔者将深溪沟破裂带划归映秀—北川破裂带;另一条长约6km呈NW走向、由SW向NE逆冲并兼有左旋滑动的地表破裂带,笔者称为小鱼洞破裂带,它连接映秀—北川破裂带和汉旺破裂带,成为侧向断坡。另外,在灌县—安县断裂东侧的四川盆地内,由都江堰的聚源到江油发育一条NE向的沙土液化带,它可能是四川盆地西部深部盲断裂活动的结果。同震地表破裂带的分布特征表明,龙门山断裂带活动断裂具有强烈的逆冲作用并伴随较大的右旋走滑,断裂向四川盆地扩展。在龙门山断裂带上类似2008年5月12日Ms8.0汶川大地震的强震复发周期为3000~6000a。  相似文献

The rapid intensification of Hurricane Charley (2004) near landfall is studied using the fifth-generation Pennsylvania State University/National Center for Atmospheric Research (PSU/NCAR) Mesoscale Model (MM5) and its adjoint system for both vortex initialization and forecasts. A significant improvement in both track and intensity forecasts is achieved after an ill-defined storm vortex, derived from large-scale analysis, in the initial condition is replaced by the vortex generated by a four-dimensional data variational (4D-Var) hurricane initialization scheme. Results from numerical experiments suggest that both the inclusion of the upper-level trough and the use of high horizontal resolution (6 km) are important for numerical simulations to capture the observed rapid intensification as well as the size reduction during the rapid intensification of Hurricane Charley. The approach of the upper-level trough significantly enhanced the upper-level divergence and vertical motion within simulated hurricanes. Small-scale features that are not resolvable at 18 km resolution are important to the rapid intensification and shrinking of Hurricane Charley (2004). Numerical results from this study further confirm that the theoretical relationship between the intensification and shrinking of tropical cyclones based on the angular momentum conservation and the cyclostrophic approximation can be applied to the azimuthal mean flows.  相似文献

风暴沉积在川中大安寨段比较发育,对大安寨段风暴沉积的沉积构造特征进行研究,发现大安寨段风暴沉积虽然缺乏丘状交错层理,但顶底面构造和层理构造比较发育。综合分析顶底面构造和层理构造特征,总结了大安寨段风暴沉积的理想沉积相序结构,即一个完整的风暴层序从下向上发育:渠模或侵蚀面、砾屑层、粒序层理、波状层理、漂浮介屑段、粉砂屑层和截切或波痕。由于各微相的水动力条件的差异导致风暴沉积层序在各微相中保存的程度不同,在能量较高的滩前、滩核、滩后主要以粒序层为主,滨浅湖主要以粉砂屑层理为主,半深湖发育漂浮状介屑层、波状层理、粉砂屑层理。风暴沉积的研究加深了对大安寨段半深湖灰岩成因的认识,滩前和半深湖相的风暴成因的灰岩的孔隙度相对较好,具有较好的烃源与保存条件,是致密油勘探的有利相带。  相似文献

Water quality data from 56 wells, aquifer characteristics, soil types and land use in the city suburb of Dakar were compared to assess the effects of land use on the Thiaroye groundwater quality. The study area encompassed an unsewered densely populated zone, agricultural land, low density villages, and undeveloped land located in the sand dunes. A method similar to GIS technologies was applied to evaluate the degree of vulnerability of the different parts of the aquifer in relation to urban development, land use and aquifer characteristics. The aquifer parameters (hydraulic conductivity, groundwater level depth, recharge, soil type) were re-evaluated qualitatively into three class rankings (high, moderate and low), depending on the likelihood for contaminants reaching the water table, then combined using the two matrix Boolean logic based approaches to identify the nine classes of vulnerability assessed in the aquifer domain. An attempt was made to explain the distribution of nitrate concentration with the assessed vulnerability. In the area assessed, in the densely populated zone running from Pikine, to Thiaroye and Yeumbeul, very high nitrate concentrations correspond with the highest vulnerability index (H1). Nitrate contamination in this area is a consequence of point-source seepage from individual septic systems improperly built in this area. In the eastern part of the aquifer, high nitrate concentrations at Deni B. Ndao, Mbawane and Golam localities coincide with a moderate vulnerability assessment. The major source of nitrate in these areas is induced by agricultural activities.  相似文献

地面沉降危险性评估对受地面沉降灾害影响的城市有着重要的参考意义。目前应用较广泛的因子叠加模型和模糊层次分析模型存在着评估指标权重的确定人工干预较强,影响评估结果的问题。本文采用地理探测器分别对因子叠加模型和模糊层次分析模型进行改进,根据各评估因子的分布与沉降分布的关联性定量地计算各项评估指标的权重。本文利用改进后的三个模型:地理探测器--最大值因子叠加模型、地理探测器--加权因子叠加模型以及地理探测器--模糊层次分析模型分别进行地面沉降危险性评估,并与最大值因子叠加模型、加权因子叠加模型、模糊层次分析模型进行对比,结果表明:改进后的模型总体评估准确度分别为75.23%、89.56%、76.38%,均高于未改进模型的60.51%、53.73%、65.05%。  相似文献

利用中国区域地面气象要素数据集制作的大气强迫场驱动通用陆面模式CLM4.5(Community Land Model version 4.5)对青藏高原区域进行离线模拟试验,模拟结果与D66、沱沱河(TTH)和玛曲(Maqu)3个站点的观测资料以及GLDAS(Global Land Data Assimilation System)-CLM2模拟结果进行了对比,并分析了陆面模式对冻融过程中土壤温度和湿度模拟的偏差及其可能原因。结果表明:CLM4.5对土壤温度模拟较好(平均RMSE≈3℃),而GLDAS-CLM2计算的土壤温度偏高,偏差较大(平均RMSE>6℃),且其偏差大于CLM4.5,尤其在冻融期;CLM4.5能较好地模拟出冻融过程中土壤湿度季节变化,但土壤湿度的模拟值与观测值存在一定偏差(平均RMSE≈0.1 mm3·mm-3),GLDAS-CLM2不能反映出土壤湿度在冻融过程中的变化特征。CLM4.5的模拟偏差主要来自大气强迫场,而GLDAS-CLM2的偏差除了大气强迫场的不确定性外,还来自于模式冻融参数化方案的不完善。大气强迫场中的气温和降水对土壤温度和湿度的影响在冻融期和非冻融期表现不同。在非冻融期,土壤温度的模拟主要受气温的影响(r>0.6),气温偏差对土壤温度偏差的贡献率大于50%;土壤湿度的变化则主要受降水的影响,降水偏差对土壤湿度偏差的贡献率为20%~40%。在冻融期,受土壤水热相互作用的影响,气温和降水对土壤温度和湿度的作用效果减弱;土壤湿度的变化受气温影响显著,其贡献率为10%~20%。陆面模式中冻融参数方案的不完善是冻融过程中土壤温度和湿度偏差的重要来源之一。  相似文献

To increase the understanding of uranium transport in the environment and in the presence of steel corrosion products, the interaction of U(VI) with natural magnetite has been studied. Sorption studies have been carried out using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). The XPS results clearly indicate the reduction of U(VI) to U(IV) on the surface of magnetite facilitated by electron transfer between the Fe and U, leading to a coupled oxidation of Fe(II) to Fe(III).  相似文献

It is vital to study the regional heat fluxes in the Tibetan Plateau Area. In this paper, the characteristics of down- and upward short wave radiation fluxes, down- and upward long wave radiation fluxes, net radiation flux, soil heat flux, sensible heat flux, and latent heat in the areas of CAMP/Tibet [coordinated enhansive observating period (CEOP) Asian-Australia Monsoon Project (CAMP) in Tibetan Plateau] are analyzed. 冻土是全球中高纬地区和高山地带普遍存在的自然现象,它对全球以及区域性气候、水循环、水平衡等都有着巨大的影响,土壤冻融条件下的陆面过程正是这种影响的重要环节,介绍了土壤冻融条件下陆面过程的研究现状,特别是在大气环流模型(GCM)中引入水文陆面模型以来陆面过程研究的迅猛发展,对现在国际上正在进行的考虑冻土的陆面过程研究项目,如陆面过程参数化比较计划的第二阶段第五期PILPS(2E)以及美国NASA的寒区陆面过程实地试验计划也进行了介绍,并在此基础上对土壤冻融条件下陆面过程的发展趋势进行了分析.  相似文献

Despite continuing efforts to upgrade the urban storm sewer system since the late 1950s, the City of Shanghai is still vulnerable to persistent rainstorm waterlogging due to excess surface runoff and sewer surcharge, which frequently cause significant damage to buildings and disruption to traffic. Rapid urbanization and associated land cover changes are the major factors contributing to waterlogging. However, it is unclear to what extent changes in rainfall variability over the past few decades are also involved. This paper investigates the combined impacts of land use and land cover change, storm sewer development, and long-term variations in precipitation. Evidence of persistent waterlogging is presented first. We then give an account of land surface modifications during the process of urbanization and the development of the city??s urban storm sewer system. Statistical analysis suggests that the increase in runoff coefficient due to conversion of lands from agricultural to industrial, commercial, and residential uses is a major factor driving greater waterlogging risk. In particular, historical analysis of aerial photographs reveals the rate and extent of modification to river networks in the past few decades. The natural drainage network has shrunk by 270?km, significantly reducing the city??s capacity to transport excess surface flow. In line with other studies, we find no significant overall trends in annual rainfall totals (at Baoshan and Xujiahui). However, seasonal and monthly rainfall intensities have increased. At the daily scale, we find that compared to pre-1980s: (i) there has been an increase in the number of wet days with precipitation exceeding 25?mm (Heavy Rainfall) and decrease in those below 25?mm and (ii) the number of consecutive wet days with precipitation maximum and average exceeding the threshold known to cause waterlogging shows an increasing trend. Since rainfall intensity is expected to increase under climate change, this could further compound the impacts of land use changes and place even greater pressure on the existing storm sewer system.  相似文献

Hydrochemical studies were conducted in Chinnaeru river basin of Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, India, to explore the causes of high fluorides in groundwater and surface water causing a widespread incidence of fluorosis in local population. The concentration of fluoride in groundwater ranges from 0.4 to 2.9 and 0.6 to 3.6 mg/l, stream water ranges from 0.9 to 3.5 and 1.4 to 3.2 mg/l, tank water ranges from 0.4 to 2.8 and 0.9 to 2.3 mg/l, for pre- and post-monsoon periods, respectively. The modified Piper diagram reflects that the water belongs to Ca2+–Mg2+–HCO3 ? to Na+–HCO3 ? facies. Negative chloroalkali indices in both the seasons prove that ion exchange between Na+ and K+ in aquatic solution took place with Ca2+ and Mg2+ of host rock. The interpretation of plots for different major ions and molar ratios suggest that weathering of silicate rocks and water–rock interaction is responsible for major ion chemistry of groundwater/surface water. High fluoride content in groundwater was attributed to continuous water–rock interaction during the process of percolation with fluorite bearing country rocks under arid, low precipitation, and high evaporation conditions. The low calcium content in rocks and soils, and the presence of high levels of sodium bicarbonate are important factors favouring high levels of fluoride in waters. The basement rocks provide abundant mineral sources of fluoride in the form of amphibole, biotite, fluorite, mica and apatite.  相似文献

The Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) applies a predominantly deterministic framework to make detailed predictions (meter scale) of storm-induced coastal flooding, erosion, and cliff failures over large geographic scales (100s of kilometers). CoSMoS was developed for hindcast studies, operational applications (i.e., nowcasts and multiday forecasts), and future climate scenarios (i.e., sea-level rise + storms) to provide emergency responders and coastal planners with critical storm hazards information that may be used to increase public safety, mitigate physical damages, and more effectively manage and allocate resources within complex coastal settings. The prototype system, developed for the California coast, uses the global WAVEWATCH III wave model, the TOPEX/Poseidon satellite altimetry-based global tide model, and atmospheric-forcing data from either the US National Weather Service (operational mode) or Global Climate Models (future climate mode), to determine regional wave and water-level boundary conditions. These physical processes are dynamically downscaled using a series of nested Delft3D-WAVE (SWAN) and Delft3D-FLOW (FLOW) models and linked at the coast to tightly spaced XBeach (eXtreme Beach) cross-shore profile models and a Bayesian probabilistic cliff failure model. Hindcast testing demonstrates that, despite uncertainties in preexisting beach morphology over the ~500 km alongshore extent of the pilot study area, CoSMoS effectively identifies discrete sections of the coast (100s of meters) that are vulnerable to coastal hazards under a range of current and future oceanographic forcing conditions, and is therefore an effective tool for operational and future climate scenario planning.  相似文献
