The integrated magnitudes of 221 Galactic open clusters have been used to derive the luminosity function. The completeness of the data has also been discussed. In the luminosity distribution the maximum frequency of clusters occurs nearI (Mv) = −3 m . 5, and some plausible reasons for a sharp cut-off atI (Mv) = −2m. 0 have been discussed. It is concluded that the paucity of the clusters fainter thanI (M v) = −2 m .0 is not purely due to selection effects. The surface density of the clusters for different magnitude intervals has. been obtained using the completeness radius estimated from the logN- logd plots. A relation betweenI (Mv) and surface density has been obtained which yields a steeper slope than that obtained by van den Bergh & Lafontaine (1984).  相似文献

A light variation in Johnson'sV-band of flare star EV Lac has been registered by Pettersen (1980). The cycle length was 4 . d 378 with amplitude about 0 . m 07. A Fourier analysis programme has been applied on our measured data of the flare star BD+55°1823 in Johnson'sV andB bands. A period of 16d and amplitude of 0 . m 14 have been detected in theV-band.  相似文献

Using configuration interaction wavefunctions, the excitation thresholds for the twelve lowest terms arising from the configurations 1s 22s 22p 2, 1s 22s2p 3, and 1s 22p 4 of Mgvii have been calculated. The same wavefunctions have been used to calculate the oscillator strengths for the optically allowed transitions in Mgvii. Combining these results with earlier published values for Oiii, Nev, Siix, Caxv, and Fexxi, oscillator strengths for other ions in the carbon isoelectronic sequence (F through Ni) have been predicted. The predicted values are found to be slightly lower when compared with the available published results.  相似文献

From the experimentally measured (p,n) cross-sections for92,94Zr,93Nb,95,96,98Mo,103Rh,107,109Ag,110Pd,115In,117,122Sn nuclides, for proton energies below 7 MeV, thermonuclear reaction rates in the temperature range 1≤T 9≤5(T9=109 K) have been extracted. These reaction rates have been fitted to a three parameter empirical expression proposed by Fowler.  相似文献

The Franck-Condon (FC) factors and r-centroids for the bands systemC 1 Σ + → X 1 Σ + of AlD and E 2 Π → X 2 Σ + of CaH have been evaluated by means of a reliable numerical integration procedure by using a suitable potential. The dissociation energy, D e, for the electronic ground states of AlD and CaH have been estimated by the curve fitting method to the RKRV experimental potential curve turning out to be 3.01 eV and 2.32 eV, respectively. For molecular identification in astrophysical sources, an astrophysicist needs some spectroscopic parameters such as dissociation energy, vibrational or rotational temperature of the source, band or line wavelengths, transition probability parameters, etc. The Franck-Condon(FC) factors are proportional to the transition probabilities. In this study, the FC factors and r-centroids for the vibronic (vibration-electronic) transitions C 1 Σ +X 1 Σ + of aluminium hydride (AlH), b 3 Σ ( −)a 3 Π, C 1 Σ +A 1 Π & C ′1 Δ → Δ 1 Π of boron hydride (BH) have been evaluated and the results are presented in tables which include band origin/head wavelengths. The physical & astrophysical significances of our evaluated FC factors & r-centroids have been discussed and the possible presence of AlH in sunspot umbral spectra is also predicted. Photoelectric observations of WX Eridani inB andV filters have been discussed. The maximum magnitudes of the system areB=9 m .70 andV=9 m .46. TheB-V colours of the components are 0 m .16 and 0 m .80 for the primary and the secondary, respectively, while their spectral types are A5+K0. UBV photometry of RS CVn-type eclipsing binary system ER Vulpeculae has been presented. The period comes out to be 0 . d 698093. The average depths of primary and secondary minima are, respectively, 0 . m 21 and 0 . m 12. The colours at various phases have been given. A dip is seen around phase 0 . p 73 as was seen in the observations of Arevaloet al. (1988). Large scatter is present in the observations as noticed earlier, and may be due to activity of the components.  相似文献

In the present paper we have considered the problem of determining the equilibrium structure of differentially rotating stars in which the angular velocity of rotation varies both along the axis of rotation and in directions perpendicular to it. For this purpose, a generalized law of differential rotation of the type 2 =b 0+b 1 s 2+b 2 s 4+b 3 z 2+b 4 z 4+b 5 z 2 s 2 (here is a nondimensional measure of the angular velocity of a fluid element distants from the axis of rotation andz from the plane through the centre of the star perpendicular to the axis of rotation, andb's are suitably chosen parameters) has been used. Whereas Kippenhahn and Thomas averaging approach has been used to incorporate the rotational effects in the stellar structure equations, Kopal's results on Roche equipotentials have been used to obtain the explicit form of the stellar structure equations, which incorporate the rotational effects up to second order of smallness in the distortion parameters. The method has been used to compute the equilibrium structure of certain differentially rotating polytropes. Certain differentially rotating polytropes. Certain differentially rotating models of the Sun have also been computed by using this approach.  相似文献

Rates of production of O(1 D) atoms in the upper atmosphere by photodissociation of O2, dissociative recombination of O2 +, NO+ and electron impact excitation of O(3 P) have been calculated for low, medium and high levels of solar activity. Variations with solar activity, of neutral and ionic composition, electron and neutral temperatures of the upper atmosphere and solar extreme ultraviolet fluxes incident on it have been taken into consideration.Emission rates ofOi red line (6300Å) have been computed taking into account the deactivation both by molecular oxygen and nitrogen. It has been shown that the integrated intensity from low to high activity period varies by approximately an order of magnitude in agreement with the results of experimental observations.  相似文献

A high resolution spectrum of a sunspot umbra is used for identification of rotational lines due to (0, 0) band of the A 2Π–X 2Σ+ system and (0, 0), (1, 1), and (2, 2) bands of the B 2Σ+X 2Σ+ system of the molecule SrF. The published sunspot umbral spectrum obtained with Fourier Transform Spectrometer and solar telescope of National Solar Observatory/National Optical Astronomy Observatory at Kitt Peak was used for the study. The new identification of more than 200 SrF lines in the umbral spectrum confirms that this molecule accounts for the majority of lines in the spectral range 15050 to 15360 cm−1 and 17240 to 17300 cm−1. Equivalent widths have been measured for well-resolved lines of these bands and the effective rotational temperatures have been estimated for which the presence is confirmed.  相似文献

The RS CVn-type eclipsing binary AR Lac has been observed in two colours,B andV, in 1978 and 1979. Several times of minima have been obtained during the observations and the new light elements have been calculated. The orbital period of the system was found to be decreasing with an amount of 14.6 s century–1.The light curves of the system obtained inB andV show a significant wave-like distortion outside eclipses. The amplitudes of the wave-like distortion inB andV are about 0 . m 09 and 0 . m 10 in 1978, and, 0 . m 12 and 0 . m 13 in 1979, respectively. The minima of the wave-like distortion have shifted with an amount of 0 . p 40 in one year, thus indicating the migration period of the wave-like distortion is about 2.5 yr.A noticeable variation of light during the totality of primary minimum has also been observed. This variation can be attributed to the distortion wave which has been moving towards decreasing phases.  相似文献

The potential energy curves for theX 2 Σ+ andB 2 Σ+ states of CO+ have been constructed by the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) method as modified by van der Sliceet al. The dissociation energy is estimated to be 7.70±0.19 eV by the method of curve fitting using the five parameter Hulburt-Hirschfelder’s function. The estimated value is in good agreement with the value (7.839 eV) given by Misraet al. Carefull observation of the results reveals that accurateD 0 value for CO+ is 8.33 eV  相似文献

The dissociation energy D 0 0 = 2.5 ± 0.05 eV for the electronic ground state of CoH has been estimated by fitting Hulburt-Hirschfelder function to the experimental potential energy curve, using the correlation coefficient. The absolute proper motions of about 275 million stars from the Kharkov XPM catalog have been obtained by comparing their positions in the 2MASS and USNO-A2.0 catalogs with an epoch difference of about 45 yr for northern-hemisphere stars and about 17 yr for southern-hemisphere stars. The zero point of the system of absolute proper motions has been determined using 1.45 million galaxies. The equatorial components of the residual rotation vector of the ICRS/UCAC2 coordinate system relative to the system of extragalactic sources have been determined by comparing the XPM and UCAC2 stellar proper motions: ω x,y,z = (−0.06, 0.17, −0.84) ± (0.15, 0.14, 0.14) mas yr−1. These parameters have been calculated using about 1 million faintest UCAC2 stars with magnitudes R UCAC2 > 16 m and J > 14 m . 7, for which the color and magnitude equation effects are negligible.  相似文献

Production rates of N(2 D) metastable atoms in the daytime atmosphere have been calculated for different possible processes, using positive ion composition and reaction rate data, available presently. Emission rates of the 5199 Å doublet of Ni are calculated by separately and jointly considering the deactivation of N(2 D) atoms by electrons and molecular oxygen.From a comparison of the computed results with the observational data, an attempt has been made to identify the processes of importance to the production and deactivation of N(2 D). For further confirmation of the proposed mechanism the variation of integrated intensity of this radiation with solar activity has been obtained. The calculated values may be compared with intensity data obtained in future at different levels of solar activity.  相似文献

3He is an intermediate product in the proton-proton chain, and standard models of the Sun predict a large bulge of enhanced 3He abundance near M r /M 0 = 0.6 in the contemporary Sun. The relatively low abundance of 3He at the solar surface, which is derived from solar wind observations, poses severe constraints to non-standard solar models.Direct measurements of the 3He abundance in the solar atmosphere are extremely difficult, whereas indirect measurements, e.g., in the solar wind, have been performed with considerable precision. The interpretation of solar wind observations with respect to solar surface abundances has been greatly improved in recent years. Abundance measurements have been performed under a large variety of solar wind conditions and refined models have been developed for the transport processes in the chromosphere and the transition region and for the processes occurring in the solar corona. From these measurements we estimate the present isotopic number ratio 3He/4He to be (4.1 ± 1.0) × 10–4 at the solar surface, corresponding to the weight abundance X 3 = (9.0 ± 2.4) × 10–5. The zero-age Main-Sequence abundance of 3He (after burning of D) might have been slightly lower (by about 10 to 20%) than the present-day value.Non-standard solar models involving mild turbulent diffusion (Lebreton and Maeder, 1987) could account for a slow secular increase of the 3He/4He ratio in the solar atmosphere. On the other hand it is difficult to reconcile models with severe mass loss as proposed by Guzik, Willson, and Brunish (1987) with this constraint. The slowing down of the solar rotation during the early Main-Sequence evolution was accompanied by stronger differential rotation probably implying a more effective mixing of the inner parts. Again, the surface abundance of 3He imposes severe limits on the evolution of the distribution of momentum within the early Sun.  相似文献
