Published photoelectric measurements over a wide wavelength range (0.36–18 µm) are used to study the continuum spectrum of the star Θ1 Ori C. The model that assumes the following three radiation sources is consistent with observations: (1) a zero-age main-sequence O7 star (object 1) of mass M 1=20M ⊙, radius R 1=7.4R ⊙, effective temperature T 2=37 000 K, and absolute bolometric magnitude $M\mathop {bol}\limits^1 = - 7\mathop .\limits^m 7$ ; (2) object 2 with M 2=15M ⊙, R 2=16.2R ⊙, T 2=4000 K, and $M\mathop {bol}\limits^2 = - 5\mathop .\limits^m 1$ ; and (3) object 3 with R 310 700 R ⊙, T 3=190 K, and $M\mathop {bol}\limits^3 = - 0\mathop .\limits^m 6$ . The visual absorption toward the system is $A_V = 0\mathop .\limits^m 95$ and obeys a normal law. The nature of objects 2 and 3 has not been elucidated. It can only be assumed that object 2 is a companion of the primary star, its spectral type is K7, and it is in the stage of gravitational contraction. Object 3 can be a cocoon star and a member of the system, but can also be a dust envelope surrounding the system as a whole. 相似文献

We have calculated the spectrum of Cyg X-1 under the assumption that the radiation orginates in a disk around a 11M
black-hole. Supersonic turbulence prevails in the outer parts of the disk and electron-electron bremsstrahlung appears to be resonsible for the maintenance of the temperature at a level less than 1010 K near the inner edge of the disk. The theoretical spectrum gives the best fit with the observations if the Reynolds number is about 1200. 相似文献

Six-color ultraviolet light curves of the complex eclipsing binary system Lyr were obtained with the OAO-2 Wisconsin Experiment Package. The filters had a typical width at half maximum of 150 to 200 Å and centered at 1430, 1550, 1910, 2460, 2980 and 3320 Å. The most striking characteristics of the ultraviolet light curves are that the secondary minimum deepens at shorter wavelengths. This indicates that we arenot observing the eclipse effect of two stars having roughly a Planckian distribution of energy. In combination with the high resolution far ultraviolet spectra of Lyr recently obtained withCopernicus (OAO-3) Princeton Telescope Spectrometer, it is concluded that the far ultraviolet light curves are dominated by emission from the high temperature gas surrounding the binary system. The ultraviolet observations with OAO-2 andCopernicus are consistent with a model in which the enigmatic secondary component involves a gravitationally collapsed object, i.e., a black hole; however, alternative models are also admissible. 相似文献

The connection between the radio emission from “lightnings” produced by the absorption of high-energy photons from the cosmic
gamma-ray background in a neutron star magnetosphere and radio bursts from rotating ratio transients (RRATs) is investigated.
The lightning length reaches 1000 km; the lightning radius is 100 m and is comparable to the polar cap radius. If a closed
magnetosphere is filled with a dense plasma, then lightnings are efficiently formed only in the region of open magnetic field
lines. For the radio emission from a separate lightning to be observed, the polar cap of the neutron star must be directed
toward the observer and, at the same time, the lightning must be formed. The maximum burst rate is related to the time of
the plasma outflow from the polar cap region. The typical interval between two consecutive bursts is ∼100 s. The width of
a single radio burst can be determined both by the width of the emission cone formed by the lightning emitting regions at
some height above the neutron star surface and by a finite lightning lifetime. The width of the phase distribution for radio
bursts from RRATs, along with the integrated pulse width, is determined by the width of the bundle of open magnetic field
lines at the formation height of the radio emission. The results obtained are consistent with the currently available data
and are indicative of a close connection between RRATs, intermittent pulsars, and extreme nullers. 相似文献

High resolution profiles of the Mg xii 8.42 Å line in the solar X-ray spectrum were recorded from the Intercosmos 7 satellite. The Mg xii line intensity provides a sensitive indicator of the hot plasma content (T ? 3 × 106 K) in coronal condensations and X-ray flare volumes. The ratio of the line intensity to the intensity of the adjacent continuum has been used to compute approximate thermal models of the emitting regions. For all the investigated coronal condensations the temperature distribution of plasma has been found to be a function monotonically decreasing with temperature. But for some X-ray bursts there occurred a distinct excess of the hot plasma of temperature between 6–10 × 106K. FWHM values of the Mg xii line profiles have been used to estimate ion temperature in the emitting regions. 相似文献

It has been suggested that cosmological γ-ray bursts (GRBs) can produce the observed flux of cosmic rays at the highest energies. However, recent studies of GRBs indicate that their redshift distribution likely follows the average star formation rate of the universe and that GRBs were more numerous at high redshifts. As a consequence, we show that photomeson production energy losses suffered by ultrahigh energy cosmic rays coming from GRBs would produce too sharp a spectral energy cutoff to be consistent with the air shower data. Futhermore, we show that cosmolgical GRBs fail to supply the energy input required to account for the cosmic ray flux above 1019 eV by a factor of 100–1000. 相似文献

The emission and absorption lines (3716–4290) in the spectrum of the quasar 0237–233 are identified within the framework of the PLS model. The available evidence indicates that it is a helium star. Similarities between the spectral properties of 0237–233 and the star Upsilon Sagittarii are pointed out. Predictions are made for the absorption-line spectrum which falls outside 3716–4290 and also for an expected discontinuity at 2600. 相似文献

The swing-by maneuver is a technique used to change the energy of a spacecraft by using a close approach in a celestial body. This procedure was used many times in real missions. Usually, the first approach to design this type of mission is based on the “patched-conics” model, which splits the maneuver into three “two-body dynamics.” This approach causes an error in the estimation of the energy variations, which depends on the geometry of the maneuver and the system of primaries considered. Therefore, the goal of the present paper is to study the errors caused by this approximation. The comparison of the results are made with the trajectories obtained using the more realistic restricted three-body problem, assumed here to be the “real values” for the maneuver. The results shown here describe the effects of each parameter involved in the swing-by. Some examples using bodies in the solar system are used in this part of the paper. The study is then generalized to cover different mass parameters, and its influence is analyzed to give an idea of the amount of the error expected for a given system of primaries. The results presented here may help in estimating errors in the preliminary mission analysis using the “patched-conics” approach. 相似文献

The photoelectric spectrophotometric scans of the Be stars Gem, Ori, Mon and CMa have been analyzed to find out few stellar parameters. The absolute energy distributions of these stars in the wavelength range 350–750 nm have been given. Their effective temperatures and gravities have been estimated from comparisons with non-LTE model atmospheres. The stars Gem and Mon have been found to have Balmer discontinuities in emission. The excess emission in the region 620–750 nm has been observed for Mon and CMa. The evolutionary aspects of these stars are discussed and their masses have been estimated. 相似文献

We presented a phenomenological mode that attributes the precession of perihelion of planets to the relativistic correction. This modifies Newton’s equation by adding an inversely cube term with distance. The total energy of the new system is found to be the same as the Newtonian one. Moreover, we have deduced the deflection of light formula from Rutherford scattering. The relativistic term can be accounted for quantum correction of the gravitational potential and/or self energy of objects. 相似文献

Stellar evolutionary models are essential for the determination of stellar masses and ages. Several parameters can be used to characterize the structure of subgiant stars. Amongst others we can find: the helium and metal abundances, mixing length and core overshooting. In many cases, these parameters are scaled taking into account the solar values. Yet, the universality of such scalings has been put to question. As shown here, by allowing some freedom to these parameters we end up with a degeneracy of model solutions. This puts serious limitations on the determination of mass and age. Asteroseismology may provide a valuable help to break such a degeneracy. This is illustrated with an application to the subgiant star μ Her. 相似文献

Investigations in the line Hα of the spectrum of UX Ori WW Vul are presented. Comparison with the data of other researchers has shown that the regime of variable matter ejection of the star WW Vul is retained for a long time. The spectra of two nights (July 18 and 23, 2006) showed an increased intensity of red emission component without noticeable change in the radial velocity. On the other hand, radial velocity of the central absorption considerably changed to negative values with decreasing V/R. During the night on July 8, 2006, we found doubling of the blue emission component for these two spectra. 相似文献

The T Tauri variable V1331 Cyg is characterized by an intensive emission spectrum, by signatures of a high rate of mass loss, and also by presence of a circular reflection nebula. According to these characteristics, the star can be considered as a possible pre-FUor star. Up to the present the photospheric spectrum of the star has not been recorded. In this work we analyze the high-resolution spectra of V1331 Cyg that were obtained by G.H. Herbig with the HIRES spectrograph at the Keck-1 telescope in 2004 and 2007. For the first time the numerous photospheric lines of the star have been detected and the spectral class has been estimated, viz., G7-K0 IV. It is revealed that the projection of the rotation velocity is lower than the width of instrumental profile (vsini < 6 km/s); this means that the angle between the stellar axis of rotation and the line of sight is small. The radial velocity of the star derived from the photospheric lines is RV = ?15.0 ± 0.3 km/s. The difference in radial velocities for 2004 and 2007 is lower than the measurement error. The photospheric spectrum is veiled considerably, but the amount of veiling is not the same in different lines. This depends on the line strength in the template spectrum of the G7 IV star: in the weakest lines (EW = 5–10 mÅ in the template spectrum) VF ≈ 1 and it increases up to 4–5 in stronger lines. The Hα and Hβ lines demonstrate classical P Cyg profiles, which testifies to an intensive wind with a maximal velocity of about 400 km/s. In addition, the emission lines of Fe II, Mg I and K I and of several other elements are accompanied by a narrow blue-shifted absorption at ?150...?250 km/s. The emission spectrum of V1331 Cyg is rich in the narrow (FWHM = 30–50 km/s) lines of neutral and ionized metals showing the excitation temperature T exc = 3800 ± 300 K. The stellar mass M* ≈ 2.8M ⊙ and radius R* ≈ 5R ⊙ are estimated. 相似文献

We find that the element abundances in solar energetic particles (SEPs) and in the slow solar wind (SSW), relative to those in the photosphere, show different patterns as a function of the first ionization potential (FIP) of the elements. Generally, the SEP and SSW abundances reflect abundance samples of the solar corona, where low-FIP elements, ionized in the chromosphere, are more efficiently conveyed upward to the corona than high-FIP elements that are initially neutral atoms. Abundances of the elements, especially C, P, and S, show a crossover from low to high FIP at \({\approx}\,10~\mbox{eV}\) in the SEPs but \({\approx}\,14~\mbox{eV}\) for the solar wind. Naively, this seems to suggest cooler plasma from sunspots beneath active regions. More likely, if the ponderomotive force of Alfvén waves preferentially conveys low-FIP ions into the corona, the source plasma that eventually will be shock-accelerated as SEPs originates in magnetic structures where Alfvén waves resonate with the loop length on closed magnetic field lines. This concentrates FIP fractionation near the top of the chromosphere. Meanwhile, the source of the SSW may lie near the base of diverging open-field lines surrounding, but outside of, active regions, where such resonance does not exist, allowing fractionation throughout the chromosphere. We also find that energetic particles accelerated from the solar wind itself by shock waves at corotating interaction regions, generally beyond 1 AU, confirm the FIP pattern of the solar wind. 相似文献

CCD spectra taken with the PFES and CEGS echelle spectrographs attached to the 6-m Special Astrophysical Observatory (Russian Academy of Sciences) telescope and the 2-m Shamakha Astrophysical Observatory (National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan) telescope, respectively, were used to study the line-profile variations in the spectrum of the hot supergiant α Cam. No fast (≤1.5 h) line-profile and radial-velocity variations were found. Some of the systematic effects that cause spurious variability are considered. The Hα-profile variability appears symmetric relative to the radial velocity of the star’s center of mass and is attributable to variable blueshifted and redshifted emission and/or absorption components superimposed on a variable photospheric profile. The Hα line shows evidence of a large-scale mass ejection from the stellar surface, which is also traceable in other spectral lines. The He II 4686 line exhibits an inverse P Cyg profile, while the red wing of the He I 5876 line shows weak and variable emission. The fast (on characteristic time scales of shorter than an hour) variability of the He II 4686 profile that was previously revealed by our observations (Kholtygin et al. 2000) is called into question. A comparison of the observational data on the variability of ultraviolet and optical line profiles for the supergiant αCam suggests that nonradial motions are mainly responsible for the radial-velocity and line-profile variability. 相似文献

A meteorite-dropping event was observed by the camera network in western Canada on February 6, 1980, precisely 3 years after the fall of the Innisfree meteorite. The orbits of the two objects are essentially identical, making this the first observational evidence for multiple falls from the same orbit. Minor differences in the argument of perihelion and longitude of the node were presumably caused by Earth perturbations at times of previous close encounters. An impact location near the town of Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, is indicated with a predicted mass of 1.8 kg for the object. The Ridgedale event was much less luminous than Innisfree, with a peak absolute panchromatic magnitude near −7.5 with no evidence for the multiple fragmentation observed for Innisfree. Considerations of the probability of detecting two related objects with the meteorite camera networks suggest that Innisfree (a brecciated LL chondrite) was a near-surface fragment from a recent parent object with a radius of several tens of meters. A campaign to locate the Ridgedale object is planned since its recovery would allow various comparisons of great interest with the Innisfree chondrite. 相似文献
