Rb-Sr and Pb/Pb whole rock isochrons on the Qôrqut Granite Complex yield ages of 2530 ± 30 Myr (initial87Sr86Sr = 0.7081 ± 0.0008) and 2580 ± 80 Myr respectively. A model relating initial Sr and Pb isotopic compositions of the Qôrqut granites to the Sr and Pb isotopic compositions of the Amîtsoq gneisses (ca. 3700 Myr) and Nûk gneisses (ca. 2900 Myr) at 2550 Myr ago, as well as Sr and Pb contents of the gneiss units, suggests that between 40 and 50% of the Qôrqut granite magma was generated by partial melting of Amîtsoq gneisses, and the remainder by partial melting of Nûk gneisses.  相似文献

Short-term sedimentation patterns were evaluated from August 1992 to May 1993 in different wetland habitats characteristic of the Rhône Delta, including impounded and seasonally-dry saline Arthrocnemum marshes, brackish Juncus, Phragmites, and Scirpus riverine wetlands directly connected to the Rhône River, and Arthrocnemum-dominated marine marshes influenced by the Mediterranean. Short-term sedimentation was measured as sediment accumulation on paper filters which had been placed on the soil surface for several weeks. Total sedimentation and material lost on ignition was significantly related to individual sampling periods, reflecting the importance of short-term processes. High sedimentation at riverine sites (up to 22 g m?2 d?1) was related to a combination of river stage and wind events. Marine and impounded wetlands of the Rhône Delta experienced low sedimentation throughout the period of study. Sedimentation rates averaged over the study period were 0.8 g m?2 d?1, 1.8 g m?2 d?1, and 5.4 g m?2 d?1 for marine, impounded, and riverine sites, respectively. Percent material lost on ignition was low in all habitats (average 15%) and followed a seasonal trend with a minimum in late fall and winter (1%). Soil percent organic matter was also low in the top several centimeters (13%), suggesting that inorganic sedimentation is very important for accretion on these wetland surfaces. Coastal flooding was not a significant mechanism for sedimentation in the marine sites during the period of study. Sedimentation is an important factor in elevation change, and this study shows that impounded habitats, the most common “natural environment“ left in the delta, may become vulnerable to sea-level rise in the future if management practices continue to isolate these wetlands from riverine sources of sediment.  相似文献

The Archaeological Site of Panama Viejo (Panama) comprises a protected area of 28 km2 within present-day Panama City, on America's Pacific coast. In 1519, the Spaniards founded the city of Panama Viejo to secure a natural port in an area inhabited by indigenous peoples since at least the eighth century CE. The site, along the coastline and between two rivers, became a principal gateway for goods and people travelling between Europe and Pacific settlements to the east (Realejo) and the west (Trujillo, Lima, Arica). Within one century, however, Panama Viejo's natural port and freshwater infrastructure collapsed, leading to the city's relocation after corsairs attacked it in 1671. This study combines archaeological, geographical and historical analyses to explain how and why human interactions with the local environment made the settlement increasingly untenable.  相似文献

At a time when human geography–in its search for general and systemic laws–was often seduced by different kinds of determinism, Jean Gottmann developed his theoretical model in order to explain the political partitioning of geographical space. This model, shaped by the study of the classics in political philosophy, makes explicit reference to human psychology, and is based on a few fundamental concepts: cloisonnement (partitioning), circulation (movement), carrefour (crossroad) and iconographie (iconography). This paper presents the above mentioned concepts through a chronological analysis of their formulation in different chapters of Gottmann's bibliography, in order to reconstruct the genesis and evolution of his model. In the conclusions a few questions are presented, that suggest how Gottmann's model could still be usefully applied to contemporary human and political geography.  相似文献

This article examines a medical biotechnology known as a wireless body area network (WBAN) as a way to discuss how electronic information infrastructure is spatially extending human bodies into physical landscapes. The term extensible body is introduced, framed by the object-oriented philosophy of Graham Harman. WBANs are sensors placed on or inside of the human body to measure, record, and transmit data about the biological processes of a medical patient. I argue that these body-data should be considered components of bodies themselves, not representations of them. Further, I argue that the geographical discourse on relationality should be less about object relations and more about object extensions. Harman’s explication of the “quadruple object,” and specifically his use of real and sensual objects makes this possible. This questions the spatial beginnings and ends of categorical objects such as bodies and information, the implications of which could have profound impacts on how policies are framed in sectors such as public health, environment, planning, and medicine. The notion of extensibility is crucial in theorizing how, and where, the Geoweb exists as a spatial-technical assemblage of objects and information. The case of WBANs shows that a theorization of the Geoweb must include the built infrastructure of data storage as a spatial extension of being human.  相似文献

云南禄丰县川街盆地中侏罗统产出弓鲛鱼类化石后甸弓鲛(Hybodus houtienensis Young)、新庄弓鲛(新种)(Hybodus xinzhuangensis Sun)、川街弓鲛(新种)(Hybodus chuanjieensis Sun)。后甸弓鲛(Hybodus houtienensis Young)是中国发现最早的弓鲛鱼类之一,正型标本为破碎的鳍棘,副型标本为一枚牙齿齿冠。依据在川街盆地相同层位发现的新化石材料,对后甸弓鲛副型标本进行了增补,补充了描述,建立了2个弓鲛新种:新庄弓鲛与川街弓鲛,丰富了"后甸弓鲛带"弓鲛类群,并讨论了弓鲛属的生物地层、生活的古环境和地理分布特征。  相似文献

The scientific community is confident that warming of the Earth’s climate is unequivocal. Sea-level rise, which poses potential threats to coastal areas, is one of the most recognised possible impacts of this climate change. The nonlinearities, complexities, and spatial and temporal lags are common characteristics of coastal processes driven by human and natural interaction. With the acknowledgement of the complexity and dynamic nature of coastal systems, this paper introduces a spatial–temporal assessment framework, for addressing both the temporal and spatial variations, when assessing the vulnerability of natural and human systems in coastal areas. The framework is based upon a combination of system dynamics (SD) modelling and geographical information systems by taking into account spatial (x, y, z) and temporal (t) dimensions. The strategy of the adopted approach is to use the loose coupling approach by which a spatial model component is incorporated into a SD model component through a data converter.  相似文献

本文利用层次聚类分析和因子分析两种多元统计方法探讨了贵州省毕节市岩溶地下水水化学组分特征及影响因素。结果表明:研究区地下水组分浓度变化范围较大,具有明显的空间变异性,其受到地理因素、水岩作用过程、土壤等自然因素、人类活动的影响。这四个影响因素能够解释地下水水化学组分82%的特征,其中,水岩作用过程和人类活动是主要影响因素。地下水中HCO3-、SO42-、Ca2+和Mg2+主要来源于碳酸盐岩矿物的溶解,同时也受到人类采煤活动的影响;Cl-、K+、Na+和NO3-则主要受到人类活动,特别是农业化肥、粪肥、农药施用和生活污水排放等因素的影响。本研究有助于深化对西南岩溶地下水水化学特征的理解,有助于有效预测岩溶地下水污染物来源,且对岩溶区水资源的合理开发利用具有积极的指导意义。  相似文献

The existing different human activities and planned land uses put the groundwater resources in Jordan at considerable risk. There are evidences suggesting that the quality of groundwater supplies in north Jordan is under threat from a wide variety of point and non-point sources including agricultural, domestic, and industrial. Vulnerability maps are designed to show areas of greatest potential for groundwater contamination on the basis of hydrogeological conditions and human impacts. DRASTIC method incorporates the major geological and hydrogeological factors that affect and control groundwater movement: depth to groundwater (D), net recharge (R), lithology of the aquifer (A), soil texture (S), topography (T), lithology of vadose zone (I), and hydraulic conductivity (C). The main goal of this study is to produce vulnerability maps of groundwater resources in the Yarmouk River basin by applying the DRASTIC method to determine areas where groundwater protection or monitoring is critical. ArcGIS 9.2 was used to create the groundwater vulnerability maps by overlaying the available hydrogeological data. The resulting vulnerability maps were then integrated with lineament and land use maps as additional parameters in the DRASTIC model to assess more accurately the potential risk of groundwater to pollution. The general DRASTIC index indicates that the potential for polluting groundwater is low in the whole basin, whereas the resulting pesticide DRASTIC vulnerability map indicates that about 31% of the basin is classified as having moderate vulnerability, which may be attributed to agricultural activities in the area. Although high nitrate concentrations were found in areas of moderate vulnerability, DRASTIC method did not depict accurately the nitrate distribution in the area.  相似文献

Groundwater systems are important sources of water for drinking and irrigation purposes. Unfortunately, human activities have led to widespread groundwater contamination by chlorinated compounds such as tetrachloroethene (PCE). Chloroethenes are extremely harmful to humans and the environment due to their carcinogenic properties. Therefore, this study investigated the potential for bioremediating PCE-contaminated groundwater using laboratory-based biostimulation (BS) and biostimulation–bioaugmentation (BS-BA) assays. This was carried out on groundwater samples obtained from a PCE-contaminated site which had been unsuccessfully treated using chemical oxidation. BS resulted in complete dechlorination by week 21 compared to controls which had only 30 % PCE degradation. BS also led to a approximately threefold increase in 16S rRNA gene copies compared to the controls. However, the major bacterial dechlorinating group, Dehalococcoides (Dhc), was undetectable in PCE-contaminated groundwater. This suggested that dechlorination in BS samples was due to indigenous non-Dhc dechlorinators. Application of the BS-BA strategy with Dhc as the augmenting organism resulted in complete dechlorination by week 17 with approximately twofold to threefold increase in 16S rRNA and Dhc gene abundance. Live/dead cell counts (LDCC) showed 70–80 % viability in both treatments indicating active growth of potential dechlorinators. The LDCC was strongly correlated with cell copy numbers (r > 0.95) suggesting its potential use for low-cost monitoring of bioremediation. This study also shows the dechlorinating potential of indigenous non-Dhc groups can be successfully exploited for PCE decontamination while demonstrating the applicability of microbiological and chemical methodologies for preliminary site assessments prior to field-based studies.  相似文献

Antiphase domains (APD's) of pigeonite lamellae in natural and heated augite crystals from the Hakonetoge andesite have been examined by a transmission electron microscope (TEM). Antiphase boundaries (APB's) of the pigeonite lamellae in natural specimens have a sigmoidal shape cutting the c axis in (010) sections. APB's in specimens heated at temperatures above the high-low inversion and then quenched are nearly parallel to the c axis with almost straight boundaries. These observations indicate that the preferred orientation of APB's in (010) sections depends on cooling rate; at fast colling rates the APB's are nearly parallel to the c axis, whereas at slower cooling rates they are inclined to the c axis. The cooling rate of the natural augite specimen from Hakonetoge is estimated to be about 0.01 °C/h from the experimentally determined time-temperature-transformation (TTT) diagram for the APB orientations. APD sizes are large in specimens quenched from above the inversion temperature; they are at a minimum after cooling rates of around 1–0.1 °C/h, and then become larger with slower cooling rates.  相似文献

Four polymorphic loci in seven natural oyster (Crassostrea virginica Gmelin) populations of the Chesapeake Bay were analyzed by protein-gel electrophoresis for genetic variation. Samples of about 100 each were taken in 1977 along environmental gradients from stations in the James and Potomac rivers. The distribution of genotypes at four loci for each of the stations was nog significantly different from Hardy-Weinberg expectations. At two loci (Pgi andLap-2), a pool of all seven stations was also in equilibrium. Significant genetic differentiation between rivers was detected for two other loci (Pgm-1 andLap-1), and frequency of one genotype (Lap-1 95/95) was significantly correlated with mean temperature over the water monitoring period (1972–1977).  相似文献

This paper develops a joint deformation tensor (JD), which considers all of the joint's mechanical and geometrical parameters that affect the deformability of the rock mass. The method based on JD (JD method) and an elastic deformation anisotropy index (EDAI) are deduced for estimating the spatial anisotropy deformation of a jointed rock mass. The numerical modeling and in situ true triaxial compressive experiments well verified the effectiveness of the EDAI and JD method for the rock mass containing one joint set, orthogonal joint sets or the rock mass containing any types of joint network with unity stiffness ratio.  相似文献

The enthalpies of solution of petrologically important phases in the system MgO-Al2O3-SiO 2 were measured in a melt of composition 2PbO · B2O3 at 970 ± 2K. The substances investigated included synthetic and natural (meteoritic) enstatite (MgSiO3), synthetic aluminous enstatite (MgSiO30.9Al2O30.1), synthetic and natural cordierite (Mg2Al4Si5O18), synthetic and natural sapphirine (approx. 7MgO·9Al2O3 · 3SiO2), synthetic spinel (MgAl2O4), natural sillimanite (Al2SiO5), synthetic forsterite (Mg2SiO4), synthetic pyrope (Mg3Al2Si3O12), natural quartz (SiO2), synthetic periclase (MgO) and corundum (Al2O3). Improvement in standardization of the calorimeter solvent made possible greater precision in this study than obtainable in former work in this laboratory on some of the same substances.The enthalpies of formation of enstatite, synthetic cordierite, forsterite and spinel are in reasonable agreement with values previously determined by solution calorimetry. The enthalpy of formation of enstatite is about 0.7 kcal less negative than the value for clinoenstatite resulting from the HF calorimetry of Torgesen and Sahama (J. Amer. Chem. Soc.70. 2156–2160, 1948), and is in accord with predictions based on analysis of published pyroxene equilibrium work. Aluminous enstatite with 10 wt.% Al2O3 shows an enthalpy of solution markedly lower than pure MgSiO3: the measurements lead to an estimate of the enthalpy of formation at 970 K for MgAl2SiO6 (Mg-Tschermak) orthopyroxene of + 9.4 ± 1.5 kcal/mole from MgSiO3 and Al2O3.Comparison of the enthalpies of formation of synthetic cordierite and anhydrous natural low-iron cordierite shows that they are energetically quite similar and that the synthetic cordierite is not likely to have large amounts of (Al, Si) tetrahedral disorder. Comparison of the enthalpies of formation of synthetic sapphirine and natural low-iron sapphirine shows, on the other hand, that the former is not a good stability model for the latter. The lower enthalpy of formation of the high-temperature synthetic sample is undoubtedly a consequence of cation disordering.The enthalpy of formation of natural sillimanite is considerably less negative than given by the tables of Robie andWaldbaum (U.S. Geol. Surv. Bull.1259 1968).The measured enthalpy of formation of synthetic pyrope is consistent with that deduced from published equilibrium diagrams in conjunction with the present measured enthalpy of formation of aluminous enstatite. Calculation of the entropy of synthetic pyrope from the present data yields surprisingly high values and suggests that synthetic pyrope is not a good stability model for natural pyrope-rich garnets. Hence, considerable doubt exists about the direct quantitative application of experimental diagrams involving pyropic garnet to discussions of the garnet stability field in the Earth's outer regions.  相似文献

Liquidus phase relationships determined on the join anorthite-forsterite-quartz at 20 kbar show primary phase fields for quartz (q), forsterite (fo), enstatite (en), spinel (sp), anorthite (an), sapphirine (sa), and corundum (cor). Increasing pressure causes (1) thefo andan primary phase fields to contract, (2) theen, q, andcor fields to expand, (3) thefo-en boundary line to move away from the Q apex, (4) theen-q boundary line to move also away from the Q apex but by a smaller amount, and (5) a primary phase field forsa to appear at a pressure between 10 and 20 kbar. To assess possible impacts on Lake Pontchartrain fishes from the 2005 hurricanes, we compared trawl, beach seine, and gillnet collections taken before (2000–2003, 2005) and after (2006–2009) to determine if significant assemblage changes occurred. We also compared basic environmental variables to test for hurricane-related changes. Significant post-hurricane changes in fish assemblages occurred in trawl (analysis of similarity (ANOSIM), R?<?0.090, p?<?0.05) and beach seine (ANOSIM, R?<?0.120, p?<?0.05) collections across all seasons. Gillnet assemblages exhibited changes in only one season (ANOSIM, R?=?0.045, p?<?0.05). These consistently low global R values (all R?<?0.120) across all gears suggest only minor compositional changes in species. When peak abundance periods were compared for individual species, Gulf menhaden (Brevoortia patronus) declined in trawl collections after the hurricanes (Friedman's test, χ 2?=?6.00, p?=?0.014) but increased in gillnet collections (Friedman's test, χ 2?=?5.00, p?=?0.025). Hardhead catfish (Ariopsis felis) increased in trawl collections, but Gulf pipefish (Syngnathus scovelli), naked gobies (Gobiosoma bosc), and rough silverside (Membras martinica) all declined in beach seine samples and Atlantic croakers (Micropogonias undulatus), Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus maculatus), and sand seatrout (Cynoscion arenarius) all declined in gillnet samples. In general, salinity increased and water clarity and dissolved oxygen decreased after the hurricanes. While the overall composition of Lake Pontchartrain fish assemblages remains stable, the significant decline of some species and changes in certain environmental variables are cause for concern. Future monitoring should determine if all elements of this estuary will recover from these impacts.  相似文献

Dam failure constitutes a grave threat to human life. However, there is still a lack of systematic and comprehensive research on the loss of life (L) caused by dam break in China. From the perspective of protecting human life, a new calculation method for L occurred in dam break floods is put forward. Fourteen dam failure cases in China are selected as the basic data by three-dimensional stratified sampling, balancing spatial, vertical elevation and temporal representations, as well as considering various conditions of the dam collapse. The method includes three progressive steps: Firstly, some impact factors of loss of life (IFL) are selected by literature survey, i.e., severity of dam break flood (S F), population at risk (P R), understanding of dam break (U B), warning time (T W) and evacuation condition (E C). And the other IFL of weather during dam break (W B), dam break mode (M B), water storage (S W), building vulnerability (V B), dam break time (T B) and average distance from affected area to dam (D D) are also taken into account to get a more comprehensive consideration. According to disaster system and disaster risk, these eleven IFL are divided into four categories. Through the improved entropy method, eight key IFL are further selected out of the eleven. Secondly, four L modules are built based on four categories, which are L-causing factor module (M 1), L-prone environment module (M 2), affected body module (M 3) and rescue condition module (M 4). Eventually, by using two methods of multivariate nonlinear regression and leave-one-out cross-validation in combination with coupled four modules, the calculation method for L is established. Compared with the results of Graham method and D&M method, the result of the proposed one is much closer to the actual value and performs better in fitting effect and regional applicability. In the application, L calculation and consequence assessment are carried out in the example of Hengjiang reservoir that has already broken down. At the same time, L calculation and risk prediction are used in the analysis of Yunshan reservoir, which is under planning. The proposed method can not only be applied to estimate L and its rate (f L ) under various types of dam break conditions in China, but also provide a reliable consequence assessment and prediction approach to reduce the risk of L.  相似文献

How can a geopolitical worldview be undone? Can it be undone? These questions have played a central role in critical geopolitics, particularly with feminist and postcolonial authors who seek to show how geopolitics are constituted through everyday processes. This article puts this work into dialogue with a relatively recent strand of geopolitics that attempts to re-examine its environmental foundations. What role might geophysical forces play in challenging hegemonic geopolitical worldviews? The role of materiality in geopolitics will be examined through the work of Guadeloupian author Daniel Maximin. In his book Les Fruits du Cyclone: Une Géopoétique de la Caraïbe, Maximin argues for the unique position of a Caribbean geopoetics, channelled into the figure of humanity as the ‘fruit of the cyclone’, to challenge contemporary geopolitics. In turning to both the natural and the political disasters that visit the Caribbean, he illustrates how impoverished understandings of the geophysical lead to a continuation of colonial patterns. Against this background, Maximin calls for a decolonisation of the coloniser through unsettling their geographical imagination. This decolonisation utilises the geophysical not as a model for human or human–world relations, but as a tool for re-situating oneself and for reimagining global divisions.  相似文献
