The third part of the photometric catalogue of Shakhbazian compact groups of galaxies contains optical and geometrical properties of another 24 groups (Shkh 288, 289, 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 312). As in the first paper photometric data were obtained from the COSMOS/UKST catalogue of the Southern sky with δ ⩽ +2°30'. Compact groups of galaxies are fruitful laboratories to study such processes as dynamical friction, tidal interaction, collision, and galaxy mergers. The largest survey of compact galaxy groups is the one of Shakhbazian, Petrosian, Baier, Tiersch. A programme to evaluate photometrical properties of the galaxies in the Shakhbazian groups has been started using the COSMOS/UKST catalogue of the Southern sky with δ ≤ + 2°30′. About a quarter of the Shakhbazian groups lie south of this declination limit. A list of 24 groups (Shkh 21, 24, 27, 30, 32, 33, 35, 81, 82, 83, 140, 141, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 151, 152, 154, 261, 262, 263) is our first result.  相似文献

It is shown that the lists of Shakhbazian Compact Galaxy Groups (SCGGs) are not complete. The number of the detected groups in the strip between b = ±30° and b = ±20° is by four to five times smaller than expected. The most probable reason is that during the search for SCGGs it was hard to distinguish images of compact galaxies from that of stars on the POSS prints in dense areas of the sky at lower galactic latitudes. There is some deficit of the detected groups between 60° and 40° of the north galactic latitudes. The surface density of SCGGs in the southern galactic hemisphere between b = −50° and b = −30° is by about three times less than it is expected. Obviously, the southern sky has not been searched properly. The list of Hickson's groups is complete down to galactic latitude ±30°. However, some excess of HCGs is found in the southern hemisphere, where the surface density of the found groups is by about two times higher than that of in the northern hemisphere.  相似文献

We present the largest publicly available catalogue of compact groups (CGs) of galaxies identified using the original selection criteria of Hickson, selected from the Sixth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR6). We identify 2297 CGs down to a limiting magnitude of   r = 18 (∼0.24 groups  deg−2), and 74 791 CGs down to a limiting magnitude of   r = 21 (∼6.7 groups  deg−2). This represents 0.9 per cent of all galaxies in the SDSS DR6 at these magnitude levels. Contamination due to gross photometric errors has been removed from the bright sample of groups, and we estimate it is present in the large sample at the 14 per cent level. Spectroscopic information is available for 4131 galaxies in the bright catalogue (43 per cent completeness), and we find that the median redshift of these groups is   z med= 0.09  . The median line-of-sight (LOS) velocity dispersion within the CGs from the bright catalogue is  σLOS≃ 230 km s−1  , and their typical intergalactic separations are of the order of 50–100 kpc. We show that the fraction of groups with interloping galaxies identified as members is in good agreement with the predictions from our previous study of a mock galaxy catalogue, and we demonstrate how to select CGs such that the interloper fraction is well defined and minimized. This observational data set is ideal for large statistical studies of CGs, the role of environment on galaxy evolution and the effect of galaxy interactions in determining galaxy morphology.  相似文献

We describe the construction of MegaZ-LRG, a photometric redshift catalogue of over one million luminous red galaxies (LRGs) in the redshift range  0.4 < z < 0.7  with limiting magnitude   i < 20  . The catalogue is selected from the imaging data of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 4. The 2dF-SDSS LRG and Quasar (2SLAQ) spectroscopic redshift catalogue of 13 000 intermediate-redshift LRGs provides a photometric redshift training set, allowing use of ann z, a neural network-based photometric-redshift estimator. The rms photometric redshift accuracy obtained for an evaluation set selected from the 2SLAQ sample is  σ z = 0.049  averaged over all galaxies, and  σ z = 0.040  for a brighter subsample  ( i < 19.0)  . The catalogue is expected to contain ∼5 per cent stellar contamination. The ann z code is used to compute a refined star/galaxy probability based on a range of photometric parameters; this allows the contamination fraction to be reduced to 2 per cent with negligible loss of genuine galaxies. The MegaZ-LRG catalogue is publicly available on the World Wide Web from http://www.2slaq.info .  相似文献

It is more appropriate to study the dynamics and evolution of compact groups using a sample of isolated compact groups in the nearby vicinity of which there are no accordant redshift galaxies. To look for isolated compact groups we inspected the environment of 78 Shakhbazian compact groups, with known redshifts. We found that 26 of nearby groups with V < 40000 km s−1 are isolated compact groups in the vicinity of which up to a projected distance of 1 Mpc there are no accordant redshift galaxies. For four of them, the redshift of only two members are known, so their being groups is not certain. In the vicinities of eleven distant groups (V > 40000 km s−1) no accordant redshift galaxies are detected as well. The reason for this may be the faintness of galaxies there. These groups may possibly be isolated.  相似文献

Results are presented from a spectral, photometric, and morphological study of two compact groups of compact galaxies (CGCG) from Shahbazian’s list. The observations were made on the 1.5-m ESO telescope and the 2.6-m telescope at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory (BAO) during 1999–2000. These data are compared with data for the Shahbazian compact group 4. A high spatial density of galaxies, ranging from 10000 to 100000 galaxies per Mpc3, is observed in all the groups that were studied. The discovery of a Seyfert Sy1 galaxy in the Shahbazian 355 compact group is especially noteworthy. The direct photographs of the CGCGs that were studied contain no signs of merging or tidal interactions among the members of these groups. This suggests that the galaxies in these dense systems have a common origin. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 50, No. 3, pp. 347–353 (August 2007).  相似文献

We present a catalogue (CSOCA) of stars residing in 520 Galactic open cluster sky areas which is the result of the kinematic (proper motion) and photometric member selection of stars listed in the homogeneous All‐sky Compiled Catalogue of 2.5Million Stars (ASCC‐2.5).We describe the structure and contents of the catalogue, the selection procedure applied, and the proper motion and photometric membership constraints adopted. In every cluster area the CSOCA contains the complete list of the ASCC‐2.5 stars regardless of their membership probability. For every star the CSOCA includes accurate J2000 equatorial coordinates, proper motions in the Hipparcos system, BV photometric data in the Johnson system, proper motion and photometric membership probabilities, as well as angular distances from the cluster centers for about 166 000 ASCC‐2.5 stars. If available, trigonometric parallaxes, spectral types, multiplicity and variability flags from the ASCC‐2.5, and radial velocities with their errors from the Catalogue of Radial Velocities of Galactic Stars with high precision Astrometric Data (CRVAD) are also given. Compact groups are association of 4-8 galaxies with high spatial densities (Δρ/ρ∼10–20), but low velocity dispersion. Galaxy-galaxy interactions (e.g. close tidal encounters or mergers) are therefore likely to dominate any environmentally-dependent evolution of galaxies in these compact, highlocal-density, groups, unlike in the field, where galaxy densities are too low, and in clusters, where relative velocities are too high. We present here the results from spectroscopic and photometric observations of a new sample of compact groups in the Southern Sky, selected by an automatic detection algorithm applied to a digitized galaxy database. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A catalogue of close eclipsing binary systems (detached and semidetached) with at least one of the components located in the δ Scuti region of the Cepheid instability strip is presented. The positions of the stars in the instability strip are determined by their accurate temperatures and luminosities. Observationally detected binaries (20 semidetached, four detached and one unclassified) with oscillating components were included in the catalogue as a separate table. The primaries of the oscillating Algols tend to be located near the blue edge of the instability strip. Using reliable luminosities and temperatures determined by recent photometric and spectroscopic studies, we have found that at least one or two components of 71 detached and 90 semidetached systems are located in the δ Scuti region of the Cepheid instability strip. In addition, 36 detached or semidetached systems discovered by the Hipparcos satellite were also given as a separate list. One of their components is seen in the δ Scuti region, according to their spectral type or   B − V   colours. They are potential candidate binaries with the δ Scuti-type pulsating components which need further photometric and spectroscopic studies in better precision. This catalogue covers information and literature references for 25 known and 197 candidate binaries with pulsating components.  相似文献

In the course of investigation of Shakhbazian compact groups we studied the group ShCG 191 which has been identified also as the Abell cluster A1097. By its richness it may be classified as a rich compact group or a poor cluster. We determined redshifts of 14 objects in the area of the cluster and found that two of the supposed members of the group are stars. Redshifts of 12 galaxies show that the system is gravitationally bound. The V and R magnitudes of 23 member galaxies and their morphological types are determined. We present in this paper also the surface brightness contours of member galaxies in the central area of the cluster, the curves of isophotal twisting and the Fourier parameter a4. It is shown that some galaxies in the cluster are interacting with each other. Physical parameters of the group are close to those of ShCGs. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Noisy distance estimates associated with photometric rather than spectroscopic redshifts lead to a biased estimate of the luminosity distribution, and produce a correlated misestimate of the sizes. We consider a sample of early-type galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 6 for which both spectroscopic and photometric information is available, and apply the generalization of the V max method to correct for these biases. We show that our technique recovers the true redshift, magnitude and size distributions, as well as the true size–luminosity relation. We find that using only 10 per cent of the spectroscopic information randomly spaced in our catalogue is sufficient for the reconstructions to be accurate within  ∼3 per cent  , when the photometric redshift error is  δ z ≃ 0.038  . We then address the problem of extending our method to deep redshift catalogues, where only photometric information is available. In addition to the specific applications outlined here, our technique impacts a broader range of studies, when at least one distance-dependent quantity is involved. It is particularly relevant for the next generation of surveys, some of which will only have photometric information.  相似文献

Precise pointing and stabilization of the T-170M telescope (World Space Observatory Ultraviolet, WSO-UV project) is provided by the Fine Guidance System (FGS) that uses a guide star catalogue (Master Catalogue). To verify the photometric system of the Master Catalogue we have carried out ground based observations with a CCD-camera in a spectral band, close to that of FGS. We have found, that the photometric quality of the Master Catalogue is sufficient for FGS operations. The mean photometric error in the range of 14–17 mag is ±0.23 mag; its variation over the sky does not exceed the factor of two. 2% of stars from the Master Catalogue have photometric errors higher than 2 mag. We have also found a correlation between large photometric errors and the Master Catalogue flags.  相似文献
