We present the first light curves of V505 Sgr in the infrared (IR) J and K bands. The light curves are analysed with a code based on Roche geometry and stellar model atmosphere fluxes in order to determine a new set of stellar and orbital parameters. From the visual–IR photometry we find no evidence of IR excess in the system. We study the effect of the non-synchronous rotation of the primary star in the light and radial velocity curves. The distance of the system is estimated as  112 ± 4 pc  , in close agreement with the Hipparcos parallax.  相似文献

Broad-band V and I photometry of the short-period W UMa-type contact binaries V523 Cas and TY UMa are reported. From the light curves, the system parameters have been determined and evidence is presented for extensive spot activity in both systems, with V523 Cas being the more active system. A compilation of all the available photoelectric and CCD-based timings of eclipse minima is made; the O–C diagrams show evidence for an increasing period in the case of V523 Cas and a decreasing period in TY UMa. In addition we derive a more accurate astrometric position for V523 Cas from our CCD images.  相似文献

New BVR light curves and a photometric analysis of the eclipsing binary star V1430 Aql are presented. The light curves were obtained at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Observatory in 2004. The light curves are generally those of detached eclipsing binaries, but there are large asymmetries between maxima. New BVR light curves were analysed with an ILOT procedure. Light curve asymmetries of the system were explained in terms of large dark starspots on the primary component. The primary star shows a long‐lived and quasi‐poloidal spot distribution with active longitudes in opposite hemispheres. Absolute parameters of the system were derived. We also discuss the evolution of the system: the components are likely to be pre‐main sequence stars, but a post‐main sequence stage cannot be ruled out. More observations are needed to decide this point. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

This paper presents a new CCD Bessell VRcIc light curves and photometric analysis of the newly discovered RS CVn type eclipsing binary star V1034 Her. The light curves were obtained at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Observatory in 2006. Variations of the orbital period of the system were firstly studied. The (O − C) diagram with a low range of observing time of about 20 years shows an upward parabola, which indicates a secular increase in the orbital period of the system. The light curves are generally those of detached eclipsing binaries; however, there are large asymmetries between maxima. The VRcIc light curves were analysed with two different fitting procedures: Wilson–Devinney method supplemented with a Monte Carlo type algorithm and Information Limit Optimization Technique (ILOT). Our general results find V1034 Her. as a well detached system, in which the components are filling 65% of their Roche lobes. Light curve asymmetries of the system are explained in terms of large dark starspots on the primary component. The primary star shows a long-lived spot distribution with active longitudes in the same hemisphere.  相似文献

The visual triple system HD 9770 (BB Scl) has been the subject of a four-year programme of UVB ( RI )C photometry and H α échelle spectroscopy. Analysis of the data obtained over that period shows that star B, and probably also star A, of HD 9770 is a binary. The A system comprises a K1V star, which may be in a binary system with another K dwarf. The B system is an eclipsing binary of the BY Dra type in which both stars are chromospherically active. An orbital period of 0.476 525±0.000 013 d has been derived from the light curve in V . Physical parameters derived from analysis of the light curves in UBV ( RI )C are presented.  相似文献

The first ground‐based BVR photometric observations of the recently discovered eclipsing binary V744 Cas are presented. From these measurements, timings for two primary and one secondary minima have been calculated. The light curves of the system were analyzed by using the Wilson‐Devinney program. The analysis shows that the system is detached with two similar components of spectral type A2V, and the orbit is eccentric (e = 0.0662 ± 0.0005). The longitude of the periastron (ω) was found significantly different for two different light curves (ours and that of Hipparcos), which is strongly suggestive of an apsidal motion with a period of about 425 ± 68 yr. This makes V744 Cas an important candidate for studies of apsidal motions. The first estimate of the absolute dimensions place the system close to the terminal age of the main sequence (TAMS) in the HR diagram. The distance from the spectroscopic parallax (d = 740 ± 10 pc) was found to be slightly larger than the Hipparcos distance of d = 610 ± 400 pc. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We present BVR full-light curves of V388 Cyg to provide a complete photometric solution for the first time. The light curves show a high degree of asymmetry (O'Connell effect). The maxima at 0.25 phase (Max I) are 0.023, 0.018 and 0.012 mag higher than those at 0.75 phase (Max II) in B , V and R , respectively. Three possible spot models are applied to fit the asymmetric light curves of V388 Cyg, in order to explain the O'Connell effect. We conclude that the model of the cool spot on the cooler star is the most reasonable model for V388 Cyg. The continuous period variation is confirmed by recently collected times of minima, including one minimum that is determined in this paper. The period decrease rate is estimated as d p /d t =−2.055×10−7 d yr−1 .  相似文献

We present a new method for determining physical parameters of RRab variables exclusively from multicolour light curves. Our method is an inverse photometric Baade–Wesselink analysis which, using a non-linear least-squares algorithm, searches for the effective temperature ( T eff) and pulsational velocity ( V p) curves and other physical parameters that best fit the observed light curves, utilizing synthetic colours and bolometric corrections from static atmosphere models. The T eff and V p curves are initially derived from empirical relations then they are varied by the fitting algorithm. The method yields the variations and the absolute values of the radius, the effective temperature, the visual brightness and the luminosity of individual objects. Distance and mass are also determined. The method is tested on nine RRab stars subjected to Baade–Wesselink analyses earlier by several authors. The physical parameters derived by our method using only the light-curve data of these stars are well within their possible ranges defined by direct Baade–Wesselink and other techniques. A new empirical relation between the I C magnitude and the pulsational velocity is also presented, which allows to construct the V p curve of an RRab star purely from photometric observations to an accuracy of about 3.5 km s−1.  相似文献

We present R - and V -band photometry of the gravitational lens system QSO 0957+561 from five nights (one in 2000 January and four in 2001 March, corresponding to the approximate time delay for the system) of uninterrupted monitoring at the Nordic Optical Telescope. In the photometry scheme we have stressed careful magnitude calibration as well as corrections for the lens galaxy contamination and the crosstalk between the twin (A and B) quasar images. The resulting, very densely sampled, light curves are quite stable, in conflict with earlier claims derived from the same data material. We estimate high-precision timelag-corrected B/A flux ratios in both colour bands, as well as V – R colour indices for A and B, and discuss the short time-scale variability of the system.  相似文献

We present the results of our investigation of the geometrical and physical parameters of the W UMa‐type binary V404 Peg from analysis of CCD (BVRI) light curves and radial velocity data. The photometric data were obtained during 2010 at Ankara University Observatory (AUO). Light and radial velocity observations were analyzed simultaneously by using the well‐known Wilson‐Devinney (2007 revision) code to obtain absolute and geometrical parameters. Our solution indicates that V404 Peg is an A‐type overcontact binary with a mass ratio of q = 0.243 and an overcontact degree of f = 32.1 %. Combining our light curves with the radial velocity curves from Maciejewski & Ligeza (2004), we determined the absolute parameters of this system as follows: a = 2.672 R, M1 = 1.175 M, M2 = 0.286 M, R1 = 1.346 R, and R2 = 0.710 R. Finally, we discuss the evolutionary condition of the system (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

New BVI CCD photometry is presented for 60 RR Lyrae variables in the globular cluster M3. Light curves have been constructed and ephemerides have been (re)-derived for all of them. Four stars (i.e. V29, V136, V155 and V209), although recognized as variables, had no previous period determinations. Also, the period derived for V129 is significantly different from the one published by Sawyer-Hogg. Light curve parameters, i.e. mean magnitudes, amplitudes and rise times, have been derived.   The discussion of these results in the framework of the stellar evolution and pulsation theories will be presented in a forthcoming paper.  相似文献

Photometric BV light curves of BO CVn obtained in 1992 and new times of minima are presented. The primary minimum shows a transit, whereas the secondary minimum, shows an occultation. The system may be classified as an A‐type W UMa system. A complete study of minima allows one to detect a possibly increasing period by about 0.037 s/yr. This indicates that the conservative mass transfer rate from the less massive component to the more massive one is 1.57 10—10M /yr. Because of the variable period, the new ephemeris is determined for future observations. Using the Wilson‐Devinney code a simultaneous solution of the B and V light curves is also performed. The analysis shows that the system is in a contact configuration with q = 0.205 ± 0.001 and fillout factor (f) = 0.18, T1 = 7240 K (fixed), T2 = 7150± 10 K. The high orbital inclination i = 87°.54 ± 0.26 was con firmed by photometric observations of the secondary minimum.  相似文献

The sdB star PG 1336−018 is found to be a very short-period eclipsing binary system, remarkably similar to the previously unique system HW Vir. In addition, and unlike HW Vir, the sdB star in the PG 1336 system shows rapid oscillations of the type found in the recently discovered sdB pulsators, or EC 14026 stars. The orbital period, 0.101 0174 d, is one of the shortest known for a detached binary. Analysis of photoelectric and CCD photometry reveals pulsation periods near 184 and 141 s, with semi-amplitudes of ∼0.01 and ∼0.005 mag respectively. Both oscillations might have variable amplitude, and it is probable that other frequencies are present with amplitudes ∼0.003 mag or less. The 184- and 141-s pulsations are in the range of periods predicted by models for hot horizontal-branch stars. Analysis of medium-dispersion spectrograms yields T eff=33 000±1000 K and log g =5.7±0.1 for the sdB primary star, a radial velocity semi-amplitude K 1=78±3 km s−1 and a system velocity γ=6±2 km s−1. Spectrograms from the IUE Final Archive give T eff=33 000±3000 K and E ( B − V )=0.05 for log g =6.0 models. The derived angular radius leads to a distance of 710±50 pc for the system, and an absolute magnitude for the sdB star of +4.1±0.2. A preliminary analysis of U , V and R light curves indicates the orbital inclination to be near 81° and the relative radii to be r 1=0.19 and r 2=0.205. Assuming the mass of the sdB primary to be 0.5 M⊙ leads to a mass ratio q =0.3 for the system, and indicates that the secondary is a late-type dwarf of type ∼M5. As with HW Vir, it is necessary to invoke small limb-darkening coefficients and high albedos for the secondary star to obtain reasonable fits to the observed light curves.  相似文献

CCD photometry of the short-period binary stars KQ Gem and V412 Her is presented, together with some spectroscopic observations of KQ Gem. Although both systems are classified in the General Catalogue of Variable Stars as having light curves of EB/KW type, our data and analyses, involving light-curve synthesis and stellar surface imaging, show that KQ Gem is an EB system that is in marginal contact and has an enhanced bright region around the substellar point on the secondary component, whilst V412 Her is an EW system, a true contact binary with a mass ratio of 0.46 and both stars having the same surface brightness. The properties of the components of the two systems are compared with other marginal-contact and contact binaries, and a plea is repeated for more theoretical work on the mass/energy interchanges in contact binaries.  相似文献

Three-color photoelectric UBV light curves of the close binary system V448 Cyg obtained at the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory are analyzed using a new code by Djurasevi. A new value for the ratio of the masses of the components, which is the fundamental parameter for determining the absolute elements of the system, has recently been published. The parameters obtained in our analysis differ substantially from those published previously because the new mass ratio has been employed. The location of the components of V448 Cyg on a mass-logg plot shows that this system, similarly to XZ Cep and V382 Cyg, is in a phase subsequent to a rapid transfer of mass.Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 48, No. 1, pp. 59–68 (February 2005).  相似文献

In the first part of this work, the empirical correlation of stellar surface brightness F V with ( I c− K ) broad-band colour is investigated by using a sample of stars cooler than the Sun. A bilinear correlation is found to represent well the brightness of G, K and M giant stars. The change in slope occurs at ( I c− K )∼2.1 or at about the transition from K to M spectral types. The same relationship is also investigated for dwarf stars and found to be distinctly different from that of the giants. The dwarf star correlation differs by an average of −0.4 in ( I c− K ) or by a maximum in F V of ∼−0.1, positioning it below that of the giants, with both trends tending towards convergence for the hotter stars in our sample. The flux distribution derived from the F V −( I c− K ) relationship for the giant stars, together with that derived from an F V −( V − K ) relationship and the blackbody flux distribution, is then utilized to compute synthetic light V and colour ( V − R )c, ( V − I )c and ( V − K ) curves of cool spotted stars. We investigate the effects on the amplitudes of the curves by using these F V –colour relations and by assuming the effective gravity of the spots to be lower than the gravity of the unspotted photosphere. We find that the amplitudes produced by using the F V −( I c− K ) relationship are larger than those produced by the other two brightness correlations, meaning smaller and/or warmer spots.  相似文献

We present the full VRI light curves and the times of minima of TY UMa to provide a complete photometric solution and a long-term trend of period variation. The light curves show a high degree of asymmetry (the O'Connell effect). The maxima at 0.25 phase (Max I) are 0.021, 0.015, and 0.020 mag fainter than those at 0.75 phase (Max II) in V , R , and I , respectively. The period of TY UMa has varied in a sinusoidal way, superimposed on the long-term upward parabolic variation. The secularly increasing rate of the period is deduced as 1.83 s per century  ( P˙ / P =5.788×10-10 d d-1)  . The period of sinusoidal variation is about 57.4 yr. The spot model has been applied to fit the asymmetric light curves of TY UMa, to explain light variations. By changing only the spot parameters, the model light curves can fit the observed light curves for three epochs. This indicates that the variation of the spot location and size is the main reason for changing the shape of light curves, including two different maxima and the interchanging depths of occultation and transit minima.  相似文献

We present ellipsoidal light-curve fits to the quiescent B , V , R and I light curves of GRO J1655–40 (Nova Scorpii 1994). The fits are based on a simple model consisting of a Roche-lobe-filling secondary and an accretion disc around the black hole primary. Unlike previous studies, no assumptions are made concerning the interstellar extinction or the distance to the source; instead these are determined self-consistently from the observed light curves. In order to obtain tighter limits on the model parameters, we used the distance determination from the kinematics of the radio jet as an additional constraint. We obtain a value for the extinction that is lower than was assumed previously; this leads to lower masses for both the black hole and the secondary star of  5.4±0.3  and  1.45±0.35 M  , respectively. The errors in the determination of the model parameters are dominated by systematic errors, in particular arising from uncertainties in the modelling of the disc structure and uncertainties in the atmosphere model for the chemically anomalous secondary in the system. A lower mass of the secondary naturally explains the transient nature of the system if it is in either a late case A or early case B mass-transfer phase.  相似文献
