Quantum theory in Robertson – Walker spacetime suggests the existence of a minimal energy ε of the order of 10−45 erg. Reasonable forms for ε give the expansion factor R=R(t)(t= the cosmic time) with no need of gravitational field equations.Einstein's theory should be modified in gravitational fields of strength less than ε c/ħ ∼ 10−8 cm/s2 where c is the speed of light and ħ is the reduced Planck constant. The cosmological term λ is expected to decrease as the universe expands. In the Appendix, ε is derived from a big bang – big crunch Newtonian cosmology.  相似文献

We use a non-singular potential that appears in the literature under the influence of which the Poynting-Robertson effect is studied. For that, dust particles originating within the asteroid belt are used, in circular and elliptic orbits, and expressions for the semimajor axis as a function of time are obtained. The derived expressions are written in terms of the two basic dust particle parameters, namely the density and the diameter. In both cases, we obtain expressions for the time that the dust particles take to reach the orbit of Earth under the action of the non-singular potential and solar radiation. For the non-singular potential, dust particles of diameter 10−3 m in circular and elliptical orbits require times of the order of 4.058×107 and 2.823×107 y to reach the orbit of the Earth respectively. Finally, the derived expressions and numerical results are compared with those of the Newtonian potential.  相似文献

More than 635 thousand positional observations of planets and spacecraft of various types (mostly radiotechnical ones, 1961–2010) were used to estimate possible changes in the gravitational constant, Sun’s mass, and semi-major axes of planetary orbits, as well as the associated value of the astronomical unit. The observations were analyzed based on the EPM2010 ephemerides constructed at the Institute of Applied Astronomy (Russian Academy of Sciences) in a post-Newtonian approximation as a result of simultanious numerical integration of the equations of motion of nine major planets, the Sun, the Moon, asteroids, and trans-Neptunian objects. The heliocentric gravitational constant GM was found to vary with a rate of (GṀ /GM = (−5.0 ± 4.1)) × 10−14 per year (at the 3σ level). The positive secular changes in the semimajor axes ȧ i /a i were found for Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn provided by high-precision observations. These changes also correspond to the decrease in the heliocentric gravitational constant. The changing of GM , itself is probably caused by the loss of the mass M of the Sun due to its radiation and solar wind; these effects are partly compensated by the material falling onto the Sun. Allowing for the maximum bounds on the possible change in the Sun’s mass M , it has been found from the change obtained in GM that the annual change Ġ/G of the gravitational constant G falls within the interval −4.2 × 10−14 < ȧ/G < +7.5 × 10−14 with a 95% probability. The astronomical unit (AU) is connected by its definition only with the heliocentric gravitational constant. The decrease of GM obtained in this paper should correspond to a secular decrease in the AU. It is shown, however, that the modern level of accuracy does not allow us to determine a change in the AU. The attained posibility of determining changes in GM using high-accuracy observations encourages us to have a relation between GM and the AU fixed for a certain moment in time, since it is inconvenient to have a time-dependent length for the AU.  相似文献

The possibility of using a trap with ultracold neutrons as a detector of dark matter particles with long-range forces is considered. The main advantage of the proposed method lies in the possibility of detecting a recoil energy of ∼10−7 eV. Constraints on the parameters of an interaction potential of the form φ (r) = ae r/b /r between dark matter particles and a neutron are presented at various dark matter densities on Earth. The assumption about the long-range interaction of dark matter particles and ordinary matter is shown to lead to a significant increase in the elastic scattering cross section at low energies. As a consequence, it becomes possible to capture and accumulate dark matter in the Earth’s gravitational field. The accumulated dark matter in the Earth’s gravitational field is roughly estimated. The first experimental constraints on the existence of dark matter with long-range forces on Earth are presented.  相似文献

We investigate the relative motion of three stars, ADS 7446, 9346, and 9701, based on long-term observations with the Pulkovo 26-inch refractor. The relative motion of all three stars shows a perturbation that could be produced by the gravitational influence of an invisible companion. For ADS 7446, we have determined the orbit of the photocenter with a period of 7.9 yr; the mass of the companion is more than 0.4M . For ADS 9346, we have determined the radial velocities of the components: −14.60 km s−1 for A and −13.94 km s−1 for B. For ADS 9346 and 9701, we have determined the dynamical parallaxes, 24 and 20 mas, respectively, which are larger than those in the Hipparcos catalog by 5 mas, and calculated the orbits by the apparent motion parameter (AMP) method. The new orbit of ADS 9346 is: a = 5″.2, P = 2035 yr, and e = 0.46 at the system’s mass M = 2.5M . The new orbits of ADS 9701 are: (a = 2″.9, P = 829 yr, e = 0.54, M = 4.3M ) and (a = 3″.8, P = 1157 yr, e = 0.53, M = 5.0M ).  相似文献

The focussing of gravitational radiation by the interior and exterior gravitational field of a Newtonian gravitational lens is considered. A graphical method for determining the caustic structure of a Newtonian gravitational lens is presented and the caustic structure of a solar type gravitational lens is discussed. Estimates of the amplitude magnification in the caustic region indicate that waves with frequencies less than a critical cutoff frequency ω c are not amplified significantly. For a lens of massM this cutoff frequency is ω c ≈(10-1πM)-1; for the Sun ω c ≈104s-1. Work supported in part by National Science Foundation Grant PHY78-05368.  相似文献

Using the method of two-dimensional spectroscopy, we have investigated the kinematics and distribution of the gas and stars at the center of the early-type spiral galaxy NGC 7177 with a mediumscale bar as well as the change in the mean age of the stellar population along the radius. A classical picture of radial gas inflow to the galactic center along the shock fronts delineated by dust concentration at the leading edges of the bar has been revealed. The gas inflow is observed down to a radius R = 1″.5−2″, where the gas flows at the inner Lindblad resonance concentrate in an azimuthally highly inhomogeneous nuclear star formation ring. The bar in NGC 7177 is shown to be thick in z coordinate—basically, it has already turned into a pseudo-bulge as a result of secular dynamical evolution. The mean stellar age inside the star formation ring, in the galactic nucleus, is old, ∼10 Gyr.Outside, at a distance R = 6″−8″ from the nucleus, the mean age of the stellar population is ∼2 Gyr. If we agree that the bar in NGC 7177 is old, then, obviously, the star formation ring has migrated radially inward in the last 1–2 Gyr, in accordance with the predictions of some dynamical models.  相似文献

The influence of the potential well depth US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} of Σ in nuclear matter on the surface gravitational red-shift of a proto neutron star is examined within the framework of the relativistic mean field theory for the baryon octet system. It is found that as US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} increases from −35 MeV to +35 MeV, the surface gravitational red-shift increases and the influence of the negative US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} on the surface gravitational red-shift is larger than that of the positive ones. Furthermore, the M max/R and the surface gravitational red-shift corresponding to the maximum mass all increase as the US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} increases, M max and R being the maximum mass of the proto neutron star and the corresponding radius respectively.  相似文献

The effect of the Σ-meson well depth on the gravitational redshift is examined within the framework of relativistic mean field theory for the baryon octet system. It is found that, for a stable neutron star, the gravitational redshift increases with the central energy density increase or with the mass increase but decreases as the radius increases. Considering a change of US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} from −30 MeV to 30 MeV, for a stable neutron star the gravitational redshift near to the maximum mass increases. In addition, it is also found that the growth of the US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} makes the gravitational redshift as a function of M max /R increase, the higher the US(N)U_{\Sigma}^{(N)} the less the change in the gravitational redshift.  相似文献

Based on data for 102 OB3 stars with known proper motions and radial velocities, we have tested the distances derived by Megier et al. from interstellar Ca II spectral lines. The internal reconciliation of the distance scales using the first derivative of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω′0 and the external reconciliation with Humphreys’s distance scale for OB associations refined by Mel’nik and Dambis show that the initial distances should be reduced by ≈20%. Given this correction, the heliocentric distances of these stars lie within the range 0.6–2.6 kpc. A kinematic analysis of these stars at a fixed Galactocentric distance of the Sun, R 0 = 8 kpc, has allowed the following parameters to be determined: (1) the solar peculiar velocity components (u , v , ω ) = (8.9, 10.3, 6.8) ± (0.6, 1.0, 0.4) km s−1; (2) the Galactic rotation parameters Ω0 = −31.5 ± 0.9 km s−1 kpc−1, Ω′0 = +4.49 ± 0.12 km s−1 kpc−2, Ω″0 = −1.05 ± 0.38 km s−1 kpc−3 (the corresponding Oort constants are A = 17.9 ± 0.5 km s−1 kpc−1, B = −13.6 ± 1.0 km s−1 kpc−1 and the circular rotation velocity of the solar neighborhood is |V 0| = 252 ± 14 km s−1); (3) the spiral density wave parameters, namely: the perturbation amplitudes for the radial and azimuthal velocity components, respectively, f R = −12.5±1.1 km s−1 and f ϑ = 2.0 ± 1.6 km s−1; the pitch angle for the two-armed spiral pattern i = −5.3° ± 0.3°, with the wavelength of the spiral density wave at the solar distance being λ = 2.3 ± 0.2 kpc; the Sun’s phase in the spiral wave x = −91° ± 4°.  相似文献

Summary In this paper the results of the research of the stars proper motions Trapezium components are reported. They are: the galactic coordinates of the solar aprx and the Sun velocity (L =43±18°,B =+28±13°,V =13±4 km s−1), the dispersion of peculiar velocities in the direction of the galactic coordinates for the above mentioned stars (σ l =±11 km s−1, σ b =±7 km s−1).The attained accuracy of the proper motions (±0.005″ yr−1) is shown to be insufficient to the study of internal space motions in these systems. At present the work to increase the relative proper motions accuracy for multiple system components and to improve reductions from the relative to absolute proper motions, is being carried out in the Main Astronomical Observatory (Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR). The new catalogue of the AGK3 stars is composed now in the vicinity of the galactic equator in order to improve reductions from the relative to absolute proper motions. The r.m.s. errors of the proper motions, obtained in the AGK3 system, are ±0.005″ yr−1.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted in conjunction with the total solar eclipse on 29 March 2006 in Libya to measure both the electron temperature and its flow speed simultaneously at multiple locations in the low solar corona by measuring the visible K-coronal spectrum. Coronal model spectra incorporating the effects of electron temperature and its flow speed were matched with the measured K-coronal spectra to interpret the observations. Results show electron temperatures of (1.10±0.05) MK, (0.70±0.08) MK, and (0.98±0.12) MK, at 1.1 R from Sun center in the solar north, east and west, respectively, and (0.93±0.12) MK, at 1.2 R from Sun center in the solar west. The corresponding outflow speeds obtained from the spectral fit are (103±92) km s−1, (0+10) km s−1, (0+10) km s−1, and (0+10) km s−1. Since the observations were taken only at 1.1 R and 1.2 R from Sun center, these speeds, consistent with zero outflow, are in agreement with expectations and provide additional confirmation that the spectral fitting method is working. The electron temperature at 1.1 R from Sun center is larger at the north (polar region) than the east and west (equatorial region).  相似文献

We present the results of our infrared observations of WR 140 (=V1687 Cyg) in 2001–2010. Analysis of the observations has shown that the J brightness at maximum increased near the periastron by about 0 m .3; the M brightness increased by ∼2 m in less than 50 days. The minimum J brightness and the minimum L and M brightnesses were observed 550–600 and 1300–1400 days after the maximum, respectively. The JHKLM brightness minimum was observed in the range of orbital phases 0.7–0.9. The parameters of the primary O5 component of the binary have been estimated to be the following: R(O5) ≈ 24.7R , L(O5) ≈ 8 × 105 L , and M bol(O5) ≈ −10 m . At the infrared brightness minimum, T g ∼ 820–880 K, R g ≈ 2.6 × 105 R , the optical depth of the shell at 3.5 μm is ∼5.3 × 10−6, and its mass is ≈1.4 × 10−8 M . At the maximum, the corresponding parameters are ∼1300 K, 8.6 × 104 R , ∼2 × 10−4, and ∼6 × 10−8 M ; the mean rate of dust inflow (condensation) into the dust structure is ∼3.3 × 10−8 M yr−1. The mean escape velocity of the shell from the heating source is ∼103 km s−1 and the mean dispersal rate of the shell is ∼1.1 × 10−8 M yr−1.  相似文献

Due to the Hubble redshift, photon energy, chiefly in the form of CMBR photons, is currently disappearing from the universe at the rate of nearly 1055 erg s−1. An ongoing problem in cosmology concerns the fate of this energy. In one interpretation it is irretrievably lost, i.e., energy is not conserved on the cosmic scale. Here we consider a different possibility which retains universal energy conservation. Treating gravitational potential energy conventionally as ‘negative’, it has earlier been proposed that the Hubble shift flips positive energy (photons) to negative energy (gravitons) and vice versa. The lost photon energy would thus be directed towards gravitation, making gravitational energy wells more negative. Conversely, within astrophysical bodies, the flipping of gravitons to photons would give rise to a ‘Hubble luminosity’ of magnitude −UH 0, where U is the internal gravitational potential energy of the object. Preliminary evidence of such an energy release is presented in bodies ranging from planets, white dwarfs and neutron stars to supermassive black holes and the visible universe.  相似文献

The phenomenological nature of a new gravitational type interaction between two different bodies derived from Verlinde’s entropic approach to gravitation in combination with Sorkin’s definition of Universe’s quantum information content, is investigated. Assuming that the energy stored in this entropic gravitational field is dissipated under the form of gravitational waves and that the Heisenberg principle holds for this system, one calculates a possible value for an absolute minimum time scale in nature t = \frac1516 \fracL1/2(h/2p) Gc4 ~ 9.27×10-105\tau=\frac{15}{16} \frac{\Lambda^{1/2}\hbar G}{c^{4}}\sim9.27\times10^{-105} seconds, which is much smaller than the Planck time t P =(ħG/c 5)1/2∼5.38×10−44 seconds. This appears together with an absolute possible maximum value for Newtonian gravitational forces generated by matter Fg=\frac3230\fracc7L (h/2p) G2 ~ 3.84×10165F_{g}=\frac{32}{30}\frac{c^{7}}{\Lambda \hbar G^{2}}\sim 3.84\times 10^{165} Newtons, which is much higher than the gravitational field between two Planck masses separated by the Planck length F gP =c 4/G∼1.21×1044 Newtons.  相似文献

The kinematics of the Sagittarius (R = 5.7 kpc),Carina (R = 6.5 kpc), Cygnus (R = 6.8 kpc), and Perseus (R = 8.2 kpc) arms suggests the existence of two spiral patterns in the Galaxy that rotate with different speeds. The inner spiral pattern that is represented by the Sagittarius arm rotates with the speed of the bar, Ωb = 60 ± 5 km s−1 kpc−1, while the outer spiral pattern that includes the Carina, Cygnus, and Perseus arms rotates with a lower speed, Ωs = 12–22 km s−1 kpc−1.The existence of an outer slow tightly wound spiral pattern and an inner fast spiral pattern can be explained by numerically simulating the dynamics of outer pseudorings. The outer Lindblad resonance of the bar must be located between the Sagittarius and Carina arms. The Cygnus arm appears as a connecting link between the fast and slow spiral patterns.  相似文献

This paper derives the contributionF 2 * by the great inequality to the secular disturbing function of the principal planets. Andoyer's expansion of the planetary disturbing function and von Zeipel's method of eliminating the periodic terms is employed; thereby, the corrected secular disturbing function for the planetary system is derived. An earlier solution suggested by Hill is based on Leverrier's equations for the variation of elements of Jupiter and Saturn and on the semi-empirical adjustment of the coefficients in the secular disturbing function. Nowadays there are several modern methods of eliminating periodic terms from the Hamiltonian and deriving a purely secular disturbing function. Von Zeipel's method is especially suitable. The conclusion is drawn that the canonicity of the equations for the secular variation of the heliocentric elements can be preserved if there be retained, in the secular disturbing function, terms only of the second and fourth order relative to the eccentricity and inclinations. The Krylov-Bogolubov method is suggested for eliminating periodic terms, if it is desired to include the secular perturbations of the fifth and higher order in the heliocentric elements. The additional part of the secular disturbing functionF 2 * derived in this paper can be included in existing theories of the secular effects of principal planets. A better approach would be to preserve the homogeneity of the theory and rederive all the secular perturbations of principal planets using Andoyer's symbolism, including the part produced by the great inequality.  相似文献

A new instrument for solar bi-dimensional spectroscopy, the Interferometric BIdimensional Spectrometer (IBIS), has been successfully installed at the Dunn Solar Telescope of the National Solar Observatory (USA-NM) in June 2003. This instrument is essentially composed of a series of two Fabry-Perot interferometers and a set of narrow-band interference filters, used in a classic mount and in axial-mode. It has been designed to take monochromatic images of the solar surface with high spectral (R ≥ 200 000), spatial ≃ 0.2″), and temporal resolution (several frames s−1). IBIS has a circular field of view, 80″ in diameter and, with suitable interference filters, it can be used in the wavelength range 580 – 860 nm. The wavelength stability of the instrumental profile is very high, the maximum drift in 10 hours amounting to ≃10 m s−1. In this paper the criteria used in the design and the expected instrumental characteristics are described.  相似文献

Based on currently available observations of 28 maser sources in 25 star-forming regions with measured trigonometric parallaxes, proper motions, and radial velocities, we have constructed the rotation curve of the Galaxy. Taking different distances to the Galactic center R 0, we have estimated the peculiar velocity of the Sun, the angular velocity of Galactic rotation, and its three derivatives. For R 0 = 8 kpc, we have found the circular velocity of the Sun to be V 0 = 243 ± 16 km s−1, which corresponds to a revolution period of 202 ± 10 Myr. We have obtained the Oort constants A = 16.9 ± 1.2 km s−1 kpc−1 and B = −13.5 ± 1.4 km s−1 kpc−1. Our simulation of the influence of a spiral density wave has shown that the peculiar velocity of the Sun with respect to the local standard of rest and the component (V )LSR depend significantly on the Sun’s phase in the spiral wave.  相似文献

In this paper we first emphasize why it is important to know the successive zonal harmonics of the Sun's figure with high accuracy: mainly fundamental astrometry, helioseismology, planetary motions and relativistic effects. Then we briefly comment why the Sun appears oblate, going back to primitive definitions in order to underline some discrepancies in theories and to emphasize again the relevant hypotheses. We propose a new theoretical approach entirely based on an expansion in terms of Legendre's functions, including the differential rotation of the Sun at the surface. This permits linking the two first spherical harmonic coefficients (J 2 and J 4) with the geometric parameters that can be measured on the Sun (equatorial and polar radii). We emphasize the difficulties in inferring gravitational oblateness from visual measurements of the geometric oblateness, and more generally a dynamical flattening. Results are given for different observed rotational laws. It is shown that the surface oblateness is surely upper bounded by 11 milliarcsecond. As a consequence of the observed surface and sub-surface differential rotation laws, we deduce a measure of the two first gravitational harmonics, the quadrupole and the octopole moment of the Sun: J 2=−(6.13±2.52)×10−7 if all observed data are taken into account, and respectively, J 2=−(6.84±3.75)×10−7 if only sunspot data are considered, and J 2=−(3.49±1.86)×10−7 in the case of helioseismic data alone. The value deduced from all available data for the octopole is: J 4=(2.8±2.1)×10−12. These values are compared to some others found in the literature.
