给出1999年3月12日至6月8日,使用国家天文观测中心乌鲁木齐南山站25m射电望远镜在0.327GHZ,1.5GHZ,2.3GHZ,4.8GHZ和8.4GHZ频段,对脉冲星PSRB0329+54进行的多波段观测结果.PSRB0329+54的辐射呈幂律谱,并出现频谱转折现象,低频段谱指数为1.59,高频段为2.45,平均谱指数为1.72.五个频段上的平均脉冲轮廓的角宽度和二个弱成分峰值间的角宽度都随频率的增加而减小.  相似文献

The POLAR 5 sounding rocket, launched from Andøya, Norway on 1 February, 1976 was of a “mother-daughter” configuration. An electron accelerator, mounted on the “daughter,” produced a pulsed electron beam with currents up to 130 mA and electron energies up to 10 keV. The waves, artificially stimulated by the injected electron beam, was studied using wave receivers, mounted on the “mother.” The receivers covered the frequency range from 0.1 kHz to 5 MHz.

In addition to the stimulated waves observed during beam injection, enhanced wave emissions were observed 10–20 ms after the end of beam injection. This emission seemed to be relatively independent of whether the electron beam is launched up or down along the geomagnetic field.

The high frequency emission observed after beam injection is found to be correlated with the passage through an auroral arc. In particular this emission is closely correlated with the flux of 4–5 keV auroral electrons.

The low frequency emissions observed after beam injection are concentrated in two bands below the lower hybrid frequency.

Different mechanisms for explaining the observed time delays between the beam injection and the observation of the emissions are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper the rotational speed of the upper atmosphere, mainly at heights of 200–300 km, is evaluated from the changes in the orbital inclinations of thirteen satellites. The values obtained represent the mean rotational speed over the latitudes covered by the satellites, at dates between late 1962 and early 1966, i.e. when solar activity was low.

If the angular velocity of the atmosphere is taken as Λ times that of the Earth, the values of Λ found are mostly between 1.0 and 1.6 with estimated S.D. between 0.1 and 0.25. If we exclude two values at heights above 300 km and one anomalous value, the mean of the remaining ten values of Λ obtained is 1.27, with r.m.s. scatter 0.18: this would correspond to an average west-to-east wind of about 100 m/sec in mid-latitudes.  相似文献

High sensitivity polarization measures, on wide angular scales, together with data on anisotropy, can be used to fix DE parameters. In this paper, first of all, we aim to determine the sensitivity needed to provide significant limits. Our analysis puts in evidence that there is a class of DE models that polarization measures can possibly exclude soon. This class includes models with DE due to a Ratra–Peebles (RP) potential. Using a likelihood analysis, we show that it is possible to distinguish RP models from ΛCDM and other dynamical DE models, already with the sensitivity of experiments like SPOrt or WMAP, thanks to their negative TE correlation at low-l, when the optical depth τ is sufficiently large. On the contrary, fixing the energy scale Λ for RP potentials or distinguishing between ΛCDM and other DE potentials requires a much lower pixel noise, that no planned polarization experiment will achieve. While reviewing this paper after the referee report, the first-year WMAP data were released. WMAP finds large positive anisotropy–polarization correlations at low l; this apparently excludes DE models with RP potentials.  相似文献

We probed for radio frequency interference (RFI) at three potential galactic emission mapping experiment (GEM) sites in Portugal using custom made omnidirectional disconic antennas and directional pyramidal horn antennas. For the installation of a 10-m dish dedicated to the mapping of polarized galactic emission foreground planned for 2005–2007 in the 5–10 GHz band, the three sites chosen as suitable to host the antenna were surveyed for local radio pollution in the frequency range 0.01–10 GHz. Tests were done to look for radio broadcasting and mobile phone emission lines in the radio spectrum. The results show one of the sites to be almost entirely RFI clean and showing good conditions to host the experiment.  相似文献

Power spectrum estimates are computed for cosmic ray and pressure variations in the frequency range of 1.6 × 10−6 to 4.15 × 10−3 c/sec for three data sets each of 27 days length (2 min interval) recorded at Chacaltaya (Bolivia) during 1965–1966. The general trend of these spectra showy ƒ fit having exponent values from −1.5 to −1.9 for L.F. side. From the semi-diurnal peaks both in cosmic rays and pressure, the average value of pressure coefficient is found to be 0.3 per cent/mm of Hg. For the same three sets of data, a detailed analysis of cross-spectrum, coherence and phase relationship between cosmic rays and pressure is carried out in the frequency range of 1–12 c/day. Besides semi-diurnal peak, variations of 3, 4, 7 and 8 c/day are found to be common both in cosmic rays and pressure. The value of pressure coefficient and residual amplitude of cosmic rays for these particular frequencies are calculated.  相似文献

In this paper, the equilibrium configurations of rapid rotating compact stars and some gravitational effects are studied within the general relativity by use of the Harrison-Wheeler equation of state and by the self-consistent field method. Numerical calculations show that the equilibrium configuration of a rotating star is a spheroid. For large spin velocities, say, ω > 3.0 × 102 sec−1 the eccentricity and mass increase very rapidly as the angular velocity increases, for the critical angular velocity of the rotating star, the eccentricity is about 0.7, the increase in mass is about 10–35%. The difference of the gravitational redshifts at the surface of the star caused by rotation, and the difference of the light bending when the beam moves in the direction of rotation or in the opposite direction are obvious.  相似文献

The average angular velocity of the upper atmosphere, which we take as Λ times the Earth's angular velocity, can be evaluated by analysing the changes in the orbital inclinations of satellites. In this paper the nine most suitable orbits now available are analysed and values of Λ are found for heights between 200 and 260 km. The results, which are more accurate than in our previous studies, confirm that Λ 1, i.e. that the atmosphere rotates faster than the Earth at these heights, and show that Λ increases with height, from 1.1 at 210 km to 1.4 at 260 km. This corresponds to mean west-to-east winds of 30 m/s at 210 km, increasing to 130 m/s at 260 km height. Results from one satellite indicate that the wind is probably strongest at times near sunset, with Λ = 1.5 ± 0.1 at 200 km height in August 1966. Comparisons are made with previous observational results and some of the suggested theoretical explanations are outlined.  相似文献

Ground-based arrays of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes have emerged as the most sensitive γ-ray detectors in the energy range of about 100 GeV and above. The strengths of these arrays are a very large effective collection area on the order of 105 m2, combined with excellent single photon angular and energy resolutions. The sensitivity of such detectors is limited by statistical fluctuations in the number of Cosmic-ray initiated air showers that resemble γ-ray air showers in many ways. In this paper, we study the performance of simple event reconstruction methods when applied to simulated data of the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS) experiment. We review methods for reconstructing the arrival direction and the energy of the primary photons, and examine means to improve on their performance. For a software threshold energy of 300 GeV (100 GeV), the methods achieve point source angular and energy resolutions of σ63% = 0.1° (0.2°) and σ68% = 15% (22%), respectively. The main emphasis of the paper is the discussion of γ–hadron separation methods for the VERITAS experiment. We find that the information from several methods can be combined based on a likelihood ratio approach and the resulting algorithm achieves a γ–hadron suppression with a quality factor that is substantially higher than that achieved with the standard methods used so far.  相似文献

An analytical theory of whistler wave propagation in axially symmetric field-aligned density ducts is developed. Both enhancements and rarefactions of the density (crests and troughs) are considered. Simple equations giving the dependence of the number of modes n upon the angular frequency ω are derived. From these results it follows that in density crests n decreases when ω approaches ωc/2 for ω < ωc/2. The limiting frequency of the wave trapping is calculated. An analytical investigation of wave attenuation in a density crest due to wave leakage is presented. An analysis of the whistler modes in density troughs for ω < ωc/2, ω > ωc/2, and ω → ωc/2 shows that the number of modes is of the same order of magnitude in these three cases.  相似文献

The Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) will come on line with unprecedented radio sensitivity and resolution between 10 and 240 MHz. Such a system will provide a factor of 10–30 improvement in sensitivity in the pursuit of the weak radio emission from extrasolar planets. To date, previous examinations of extrasolar planetary systems with the most advanced radio telescopes have yielded a negative result. However, the improvement in sensitivity by LOFAR over current systems will increase the likelihood of extrasolar planet detection in the radio. We apply radiometric models derived previously from the study of planets in our solar system to the known extrasolar planets, and demonstrate that approximately 3–5 of them should emit in the proper frequency range and with enough power to possibly become detectable at Earth with LOFAR.  相似文献

The UTR-2 antenna has been used to measure angular sizes of sources of narrow-band short-lived solar stria-bursts at frequencies 24–26 MHz. The majority of these sources have apparent diameters between 20 and 40. According to this parameter they do not differ noticeably from that of type III bursts at the same frequency. The short duration of the stria-bursts prevents explanation of the large diameter by scattering in the solar corona.  相似文献

The eigen-vibrational frequencies of Xiong Da-run's nonlocal and local convection models of solar envelope are calculated and compared. The differences between the observational and theoretical vibrational frequencies are less than 1%. They can be divided into two isolated groups. For modes with l ≥ 60, all the differences between observed and theoretical eigen-vibrational frequencies are distributed in a narrow and inclined belt in the (Δvv)-diagram. This shows that the theoretical model of solar convective region can approximately reflect the intrinsic structure of the sun in the region of r = (0.70–0.95)R. The discrepancies between the theoretical and observational frequencies come from the outer layers. For modes with l < 60, the theoretical vibrational frequency is smaller than the observational one. This implies that the temperature of the upper part of the convectively unstable region is rather low. The frequency difference is more dispersed in the local convection model than in the nonlocal convection model. For the intermediate- and low-frequency ranges (v < 3000), the difference between the two models is small, while for the high-frequency range (v ≥ 3000) the frequency in the local model is higher than in the nonlocal model. This means that the temperature of the radiation region beneath the convective region is higher in the local convection model than in the nonlocal convection model. The nonlocal model is nearer to the observation than the local model.  相似文献

It is shown that the dynamics of the plasmapause, the plasmasphere plasma tails, the plasma sheet and the magnetosheath boundaries of the geomagnetosphere may be investigated by means of the geostationary version of the differential phase method, by which a signal transmitted from a sounding station (a geostationary satellite) and received by a response station on the Earth may be transformed, allowing the sign of the frequency shift and of the phase lag to be changed. Information on the location, the motion of the magnetospheric plasma discontinuities and the concentration drop at their boundaries may be obtained from measurements carried out on board the geostationary satellite of the phase difference of the sounding and response signals ΔΦ, the time of its increase Δt and the phase difference change rate (fast beating frequency Δƒ = ΔΦ/2π Δt). The establishment of communication between appropriately spaced ground stations and a satellite with a quasi-polar orbit allows the midlatitude plasmapause dynamics, and those of the ionosphere trough, polar cusp boundaries and of polar cap inhomogeneities to be studied. Equipment with a stability of 10−11–10−12 is needed for the most dynamical events (for ΔΦ= 10−4 tens of rad. and for Δƒ= 10−5 tens of Hz) occurring in the radio path during storms.  相似文献

The power spectral density of cosmic ray fluctuations observed at ground level during the years 1966–1968 has been calculated. In order to obtain the correct shape of the spectrum, the Fast Fourier Transform method with a triangular data window was used and corrections were made for uncorrelated errors and aliasing effects. When ignoring the Earth rotation peaks, the spectral index , for a sample of polar, middle latitude and equatorial stations, is − 1.96 in the frequency range 3 × 10−7–10−4 Hz. A possible break around 10−5 Hz, if existing, would be, on the whole, barely significant as a would change from − 1.96 to − 2.10. There are indications that beyond 10−4 Hz up to 7 × 10−3 Hz the spectrum continues with − 2.  相似文献

The THEMISTOCLE array of 18 Cherenkov detectors which has a 3 TeV gamma energy threshold, has detected a signal from the Crab nebula at a 5.8 standard deviation level. Information on the energy spectrum is obtained in the range 3–15 TeV. The integrated flux can be fitted with the form, Φ (> E) = (3.7 ± 0.5) × 10-12 (E/5)-−1.5 ± 0.20 cm−2 s−1 (E in TeV) compatible with the extrapolation of results at lower energies. The Crab signal is used to measure the angular resolution of the multi-telescope technique. The value obtained is 2.3 mr (0.15°) in agreement with the results of simulations, and confirms the interest of this new method for multi-TeV gamma-ray detection.  相似文献

The JHKL' photometry and 2.3–4 μm spectrophotometry of some M giants, S type stars and carbon stars are presented in this paper. It is found that in combination with IRAS data, the energy spectra in 1–100 μm of S type stars are intermediate between those of M giants and carbon stars, which are obviously different. The spectrophotometry in the near infrared shows that, besides carbon stars, which have HCN and C2H2 strong absorptions at 3.1 μm, some S type stars have the similar but weaker absorption in the same spectral region. However, no trace of any absorption at 3.1 μm can be seen in M giants. These results probably provide more evidence for the M-S-C sequence in the late stage of stellar evolution.  相似文献

This paper presents the average three-dimensional configuration of solar flare- or disappearing filament-associated interplanetary disturbances on the basis of IPS (interplanetary scintillation) and spacecraft observations in 1978–1981. The angular distribution of the propagation speed at 1 AU is largely isotropic over the range of 110° in solar longitude centered at the normal of the solar source. In the latitudinal direction, the characteristic angular extent is about 60°. Thus the three-dimensional shape of an interplanetary disturbance can be approximated by a half of an ellipsoid having an axial ratio of about 1.8.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.  相似文献

Average high latitude magnetic field data from northern observatories are examined for three ranges of magnetic disturbance level, Kp = 1− to 1+,2− to 3+ and ≥ 4−. Except for 0–8h MLT, 55–78° invariant latitude, during away interplanetary magnetic field sectors, the variations between season and sector have the same characteristics at all Kp ranges. Because the amplitude of sector differences is much larger at sunlit local times than in the midnight sector, it is concluded that the current system of Svalgaard (1973) is not adequate to describe the sector variations in magnetic disturbance. Other current systems are discussed briefly. The disturbance morphology and seasonal variation at all Kp levels confirms the results of previous studies which indicate that latitudinally broad current systems, like Sqp and nonionospheric sources are present in addition to latitudinally narrow electrojet currents. Comparison of data between Kp levels indicates that the Harang discontinuity shifts toward earlier MLT with increasing Kp level.  相似文献
