Results are presented which show that reasonably accurate estimates of the atmospheric temperature structure paparmeter C T 2 can be derived from the returns of a monostatic acoustic sounder in both stable and convective atmospheric conditions.  相似文献

A radar equation which can be applied to any bistatic acoustic sounder is derived. The equation reduces to the expression normally used for the special case of the monostatic sounder. Acoustic sounder data obtained for a period of three years have been analysed to estimate the monthly mean percentage time of occurrences of sea breezes, thermal plumes, and nocturnal radiative inversion layers. The intrusion of marine air has been found to suppress daytime convection and also to inhibit the development of nocturnal inversions.  相似文献

A method is outlined for estimating statistical characteristics of turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer using pairs of observables derived from scattered acoustic energy. The procedure involves determining, from the observable pair, a local stability parameter and deducing from related similarity functions certain turbulence statistics not measured directly. The results are limited to heights small compared to the Ekman-layer depth and to flows which are neither fully developed convectively nor have imbedded gravity waves.  相似文献

Based on Zeng’s theory (1974), a successive linearized form of radiative transfer equation (RTE) is derived for simultaneous retrieval of atmospheric temperature and absorbing constituent profiles from satellite infrared observa-tions. It contains the temperature component weighting function and absorbing constituent (H2O, O3, CH4 etc.) com-ponent weighting functions. All these weighting functions reach maximum at their own “optimum information levels”, and make the remote sensing equations well-conditional. Then the atmospheric profiles are derived by Newton’s non-linear iteration method. Experiments of retrieval from both TIROS-N operational High Resolution Infrared Sounder (HIRS) and the simulated Atmospheric infRared Sounder (AIRS) show an significant improvement.  相似文献

首先统计分析了FY-3A卫星MWHS(Micro Wave Humidity Sounder,微波湿度计)2010年1月整月和8月28日—9月6日Level-1b全球观测亮度温度T_O和背景场(NCEP GFS 6 h预报场)用辐射传输模式(美国通用辐射传输模式CRTM 2.0版本)模拟的亮度温度T_B随扫描角的分布特征,发现通道3和4的观测随仪器扫描角有抖动、不连续现象。同时沿着仪器扫描线在星下点两测存在观测不对称现象,而且权重函数峰值越接近地面的通道该不对称现象越明显。在统计观测增量T_O-T_B随扫描角和纬度变化的基础上,定量给出了不同纬度带内(每隔5个纬度)MWHS通道3、4和5的扫描角偏差订正系数,该系数可直接提供给各种资料同化系统同化FY-3A MWHS资料时使用。  相似文献

Acoustic sounding is a remote sensing technique which may be employed not only for the study of the structure of the lower troposphere, but also for the measurement of wind velocity using turbulent scattering regions as tracers or natural targets. Principles involved in the use of both angle of arrival and Doppler techniques for such wind measurements are summarized. Experimental results, which are presented for thermal plumes, structure associated with airflow over hills and a turbulent region of the radiation inversion, illustrate the potential of the acoustic sounding technique for research into boundary-layer meteorology.  相似文献

在SWT声雷达探测系统中,采用作者提出的检测声回波信号的跟踪滤波锁相方法(PLTF),提取Doppler频偏f_d的V-F-BCD变换和模块化设计,减小了锁相环(PLL)的失锁现象,改善了声雷达的测风精度,闭路同源标定结果表明SWT声雷达探测系统的测频精度优于0.1Hz,相当于测风精度可达λ/4/s(λ——发射声波长),由于环境噪声的干扰,将会使测风精度略有降低。  相似文献

以METOP-A、Suomi-NPP历史资料作为参照,系统分析比较了2008—2020年4颗风云三号卫星的微波温度计(Microwave Temperature Sounder,MWTS)再定标历史资料质量。结果表明,4颗卫星的MWTS探测性能稳步上升,再定标数据集有效消除了遥感仪器在轨期间数据异常跳变、寿命期内遥感仪器辐射响应衰变、不同卫星间的辐射定标差异等因素影响,大幅提升了MWTS历史数据集的准确性和均匀性,使得再定标后的对流层和平流层通道数据与国外同类型仪器数据偏差在±0.1 K范围内。本文还重点分析比较了对流层中高层和平流层低层两个探测通道,结果表明FY-3D MWTS再定标数据和美国NOAA卫星应用研究中心STAR长序列数据集针对中高层大气的表现类似,平均亮温在时间变化和空间分布具有相似的特征,月均全球高空亮温年变化趋势差异最大为0.002 4。因此,2020年之后的FY-3D再定标数据,可以接续STAR长序列数据集,用于中高层大气的温度变化检测与分析。  相似文献

The spectral density of temperature fluctuations in the boundary layer has been studied in the range 0.2 to 2 Hz. It is shown that the temperature spectrum is strongly variable from one minute to the next and that the spectral slope tends to increase with the standard deviation of temperature fluctuations and with the stability of the medium. It is shown that C T 2 values computed from short time series (30 s) tend to be smaller than the C T 2 values computed from several minutes of record.Formerly at Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique du C.N.R.S. A three-dimensional variational method is proposed to simultaneously retrieve the 3-D atmospheric temperature and moisture profiles from satellite radiance measurements. To include both vertical structure and the horizontal patterns of the atmospheric temperature and moisture, an EOF technique is used to decompose the temperature and moisture field in a 3-D space. A number of numerical simulations are conducted and they demonstrate that the 3-D method is less sensitive to the observation errors compared to the 1-D method. When the observation error is more than 2.0 K, to get the best results, the truncation number for the EOF's expansion have to be restricted to 2 in the 1-D method, while it can be set as large as 40 in a 3-D method. This results in the truncation error being reduced and the retrieval accuracy being improved in the 3-D method. Compared to the 1-D method, the rms errors of the 3-D method are reduced by 48% and 36% for the temperature and moisture retrievals, respectively. Using the real satellite measured brightness temperatures at 0557 UTC 31 July 2002, the temperature and moisture profiles are retrieved over a region (20°-45°N, 100°- 125°E) and compared with 37 collocated radiosonde observations. The results show that the retrieval accuracy with a 3-D method is significantly higher than those with the 1-D method.  相似文献

In older to calculate updated coefficients for atmospheric temperature retrieval from satellite sounding data and radiosonde data, it is necessary to form statistical samples of real radiance and radiosonde data match-ups. A procedure is presented here for the data matchups. And a method of eigenvectors of statistical covariance matrices is used to produce updated coefficients for atmospheric temperature retrieval. The updated coefficients produced are tested using radiance observations from NOAA-7 satellite. Comparisons of these real-time retrieved data with radiosonde data show that the atmospheric temperature profiles retrieved have an accu-racy of RMS 2-3 degrees (oC). Acoustic sounder and microbarograph records of atmospheric waves propagating in the planetary boundary layer over Table Mountain, Colorado, are presented and compared. The two observing techniques are complementary in that the array provides wave amplitude, horizontal phase speed, direction, and wavelength, while the sounder provides a detailed picture of temporal changes in the structure of the lowermost kilometer or so of the Earth's atmosphere.  相似文献

由于高光谱大气红外探测器(AIRS)有2378个通道,如何从众多的通道中提取主要的有用信息。针对这点,文中提出了基于主成分累计影响系数的通道选择方法。首先,进行通道的预处理。然后,考虑白天的通道组合,分别对温度和湿度雅可比矩阵进行主成分分析,得到每个通道对主成分的累计影响系数,根据累计影响系数的大小,进行通道排序。最后,考虑夜晚的通道组合,加入受太阳光影响的通道。最终得到白天和夜晚的入选通道子集。进行温度和湿度廓线反演的实验表明,该方法用于通道选择是可行的。  相似文献

The treatment of the land surface can have a significant impact on the performance of atmospheric models, influencing the surface energy balance and near surface atmospheric variables. In numerical weather prediction models it is especially important to reproduce the observed diurnal cycle in screen-level temperature, which requires an accurate representation of the surface temperature, and therefore an accurate and computationally efficient representation of soil heat storage and transfer. We present a technique for analysing the accuracy of numerical soil temperature schemes, and a methodology for choosing the optimal layer thicknesses for schemes with a given number of layers. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that first generation land surface schemes, which typically used a layer-average surface temperature, may be more accurate in this respect than the latest land surface schemes, which tend to use a skin surface temperature boundary condition.The British Crowns right to retain a non-exclusive royalty-free license in and to any copyright is acknowledged.  相似文献

This paper describes a new quality control (QC) scheme for microwave humidity sounder (MHS) data assimilation. It consists of a cloud detection step and an O–B (i.e., differences of brightness temperatures between observations and model simulations) check. Over ocean, cloud detection can be carried out based on two MHS window channels and two Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-A (AMSU-A) window channels, which can be used for obtaining cloud ice water path (IWP) and liquid water path (LWP), respectively. Over land, cloud detection of microwave data becomes much more challenging due to a much larger emission contribution from land surface than that from cloud. The current MHS cloud detection over land employs an O–B based method, which could fail to identify cloudy radiances when there is mismatch between actual clouds and model clouds. In this study, a new MHS observation based index is developed for identifying MHS cloudy radiances over land. The new land index for cloud detection exploits the large variability of brightness temperature observations among MHS channels over different clouds. It is shown that those MHS cloudy radiances that were otherwise missed by the current O–B based QC method can be successfully identified by the new land index. An O–B check can then be employed to the remaining data after cloud detection to remove additional outliers with model simulations deviated greatly from observations. It is shown that MHS channel correlations are significantly reduced by the newly proposed QC scheme.  相似文献
