The relative Doppler and non-thermal velocities of quiet-Sun and active-region blinkers identified in Ov with CDS are calculated. Relative velocities for the corresponding chromospheric plasma below are also determined using the Hei line. Ov blinkers and the chromosphere directly below, have a preference to be more red-shifted than the normal transition region and chromospheric plasma. The ranges of these enhanced velocities, however, are no larger than the typical spread of Doppler velocities in these regions. The anticipated ranges of Doppler velocities of blinkers are 10–15 km s–1 in the quiet Sun (10–20 km s–1 in active regions) for Hei and 25–30 km s–1 in the quiet Sun (20–40 km s–1 in active regions) for Ov. Blinkers and the chromosphere below also have preferentially larger non-thermal velocities than the typical background chromosphere and transition region. Again the increase in magnitude of these non-thermal velocities is no greater than the typical ranges of non-thermal velocities. The ranges of non-thermal velocities of blinkers in both the quiet Sun and active regions are estimated to be 15–25 km s–1 in Hei and 30–45 km s–1 in Ov. There are more blinkers with larger Doppler and non-thermal velocities than would be expected in the whole of the chromosphere and transition region. The recently suggested mechanisms for blinkers are revisited and discussed further in light of the new results.  相似文献

The Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer (CDS) aboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) carries out a regular program of measuring the full-disk irradiance using the Normal Incidence Spectrograph (NIS). The full-disk solar spectrum is returned in the wavelength bands 308–379 Å and 513–633 Å, with a spectral resolution between 0.3 and 0.6 Å. A recent modification to the CDS on-board software allows simultaneous moderate resolution monochromatic images to be made of the stronger lines in these wavelength ranges. We report on observations made 23 April 1998, 21 May 1998, and 22 June 1998. A total of 69 monochromatic full-Sun images are extracted from the spectral line data. For the first time, spectrally resolved images of the full Sun in Heii 303.8 Å and Sixi 303.3 Å are presented and compared. Velocity maps of the Sun in singly ionized helium are presented. Correlations of intensity to velocity over a wide range of transition region and coronal temperatures are shown. Lines from Hei to Fexiv show statistical red shifts of 1–7 km s–1 between active regions and quiet Sun areas. Velocity maps of Mgix andx are presented, showing strong upflow and downflow regions associated with active regions, but not correlated with the brightest emission. Changes in line width are also presented in Hei, with discussion of similar features in other lines of comparable temperature. Corrections which need to be applied to CDS/NIS data to extract meaningful velocities and line widths are presented and discussed. The identifications of the lines in the CDS spectrum are examined. The spatial and spectral variation of the background component of the CDS spectrum is examined.  相似文献

From 15:33 through 16:02 UT on 13 June 1998, observations of an erupting filament as it crossed solar disk center were obtained with the NSO/KPVT and SOHO/CDS instruments as part of the SOHO Joint Observing Program 70. Context observations show that this event was the eruption of the north-east section of a small active region filament associated with NOAA 8237, that the photospheric magnetic field was changing in this active region between 12–14 June 1998, and that a coronal Moreton-wave disk event occurred, as well as a white-light CME off the south-west solar limb. The NSO/KPVT imaging spectroscopy data covered 512 × 512 arc sec of the disk center and were spectrally centered at the Hei 1083 nm line and captured ±1.0 nm of surrounding solar spectrum. The Hei absorption line is seen blue-shifted to velocities of between 200 and 300 km s–1. The true solar trajectory of the eruption is obtained by using the projected solar coordinates and by integrating the Doppler velocity. The filament travels with a total velocity of about 300 km s–1 along a path inclined roughly 49 deg to the solar surface and rises to a height of just over 1.5 solar radii before it becomes too diffuse to follow. The filament also shows internal motions with multiple Doppler components shifted by ±25 km s–1. Finally, the KPVT data show no Stokes V profiles in the Doppler-shifted Hei 1083.03 nm absorption to a limit of roughly 3×10–3 times the continuum intensity. The SOHO/CDS scanned the center of the KPVT FOV using seven EUV lines; Doppler-shifted filament emission is seen in lines from Hei 58.4 nm, Heii 30.4 nm, Oiv 55.5 nm, Ov 63.0 nm, Nevi 56.3 nm, and Mgx 61.0 nm representing temperatures from about 2×104K through 1×106K. Bound-free continuum absorption from Hi, without confusion from foreground emission and line emission, is seen as the filament obscures underlying chromospheric emission. A fit to the wavelength dependence of the absorption from five lines between 55.5 to 63.0 nm yields a column density H I =4.8±2.5×1017 cm–2. Spatial maps show that this filament absorption is more confined than the regions which show emission.  相似文献

Large Doppler velocities with unique, almost regular elliptical features were observed in the H spectra of the May 15, 2000 eruptive prominence. These features were interpreted in the frame of axially symmetric models of the eruptive prominence. The rotational (7–60 km s–1), expansion (30–44 km s–1), axial (3–19 km s–1), and global (66–160 km s–1) prominence plasma velocities were derived. The plasma velocity patterns were compared with the observed helical structures of the H prominence. The velocities of selected H blobs in the image plane were determined. The axially symmetric detwisting process of the magnetic flux rope of the eruptive prominence was recognized.  相似文献

Interaction of the 30–300 keV electrons with whistlers in solar coronal loops is studied using a quasi-linear approach. We show that the electron–whistler interaction may play a dominant role in the formation of fast electron spectra within the solar flare loops with the plasma temperature 107 K and plasma density 1011 cm–3. It is found that Landau damping of whistlers provides weak and intermediate pitch-angle diffusion regimes of fast electrons in coronal loops. The level of whistler turbulence in the weak diffusion regime under flare conditions is estimated as 10–7 of the energy density in the thermal particles. The `top – footpoint' relations between the hard X-ray flux densities and spectra are derived. The reason for a `broken' spectrum of the flare microwave emission is discussed.  相似文献

An X1.5 flare on the west limb of the Sun on 21 April 2002 developed a large supra-arcade about 30 min after flare onset. The growth of the supra-arcade can be followed in both TRACE 195 Å images and SUMER spectra. Its growth seems to be associated with dark (in TRACE images), sunward moving channels that descend onto the arcade from above. SUMER recorded Doppler shifts of 800–1000 km s–1 in Fexxi 1354 Å from positions where this sunward flow interacts with the arcade tops. We describe the observations, focusing on the relationship of the high Fexxi line shifts to the sunward moving dark flows.  相似文献

We describe and analyse observations of an M1.4 flare which began at 17: 00 UT on 12 November, 1980. Ground based H and magnetogram data have been combined with EUV, soft and hard X-ray observations made with instruments on-board the Solar Maximum Mission (SMM) satellite. The preflare phase was marked by a gradual brightening of the flare site in Ov and the disappearance of an H filament. Filament ejecta were seen in Ov moving southward at a speed of about 60 km s–1, before the impulsive phase. The flare loop footpoints brightened in H and the Caxix resonance line broadened dramatically 2 min before the impulsive phase. Non-thermal hard X-ray emission was detected from the loop footpoints during the impulsive phase while during the same period blue-shifts corresponding to upflows of 200–250 km s–1 were seen in Ca xix. Evidence was found for energy deposition in both the chromosphere and corona at a number of stages during the flare. We consider two widely studied mechanisms for the production of the high temperature soft X-ray flare plasma in the corona, i.e. chromospheric evaporation, and a model in which the heating and transfer of material occurs between flux tubes during reconnection.  相似文献

The H analysis of the development of the strong impulsive and faint gradual phase of the June 26, 1983 flare indicates the following: (1) The flare originated from two microprominences on the southeast border of NOAA 4227. Several similar events are summarized in Table II. (2) The main flare structure was a flare cone, which consisted of a bright surge-like stream, elevated above two flare ribbons (located in the cone's base). The flare cone had a height of about 40 × 103 km and lasted 4 min in H. The upper part of the cone was terminated by a very fine loop, which was bent to the west, where later a chromospheric brightening occurred at the footpoint of a flaring arch. A 300 keV burst and radio spikes were observed during the maximum flare phase. (3) The flaring arch system, with its apex at a height of about 48 × 103 km, formed the skeleton for the coronal helmet structure (Figure 7(c)). The velocity of the plasma moving along the flaring arch was between 3500 km s–1} and 6900 km s–1} during the first brightening (14:07 UT).  相似文献

A group of type III bursts observed with the 2.6–3.8 GHz spectrometer of National Astronomical Observatory of China on 15 April 1998 is analyzed. They have the characteristics of broad bandwidth (>100 MHz), very short durations (<100 ms), high polarization degree (100%), high frequency drift rates (>1 GHz s–1), and fast pulsations (with a period of about 100–200 ms). Their time profiles are also analysed. According to these characteristics, we suggest that these microwave type III bursts may be due to the fundamental plasma emission.  相似文献

It is well known that sunspots are dark. This statement is not correct in the sunspot atmosphere between the chromosphere and the corona, where sunspots often are brighter than their surroundings. The brightest feature in the sunspot transition region is called a sunspot plume. Not all sunspots contain a plume. We find that 20 out of 21 sunspots show a plume when one magnetic polarity dominates the sunspot region out to a distance of 50 from the sunspot. Most sunspots show downflows that exceed 25 km s–1 in the sunspot plumes at temperatures close to 250000 K. This downflow is not maintained by inflow from the corona, but by gas at transition region temperatures, streaming in flow channels from locations well outside the sunspot. We suggest that this inflow is a necessary requirement for the sunspot plume to occur and present a working hypothesis for the origin of sunspot plumes. This paper is the first thorough spectral analysis of sunspot plumes. It is based on simultaneous observations of ten or six EUV emission lines in 42 sunspot regions with the Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer – CDS on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory – SOHO. The line profiles are studied in detail with another SOHO instrument, the Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation – SUMER.  相似文献

In this paper we carry out an analysis of the spatial–temporal line-of-sight velocity variations measured in the chromospheric (H, H) and photospheric (Fei 6569 Å, Fei 4864 Å, Nii 4857 Å) lines at the base of 17 coronal holes. Time series of a duration from 43 to 120 min were recorded with the CCD line-array and the CCD matrix. Rather frequently we observed quasi-stationary upward flows with a measured velocity of up to 1 km s–1 in the photosphere and up to 4–5 km s–1 in the chromosphere (equivalent radial velocity of up to 3 km s–1 and up to 12–15 km s–1 accordingly) near dark points on the chromospheric network boundary inside polar CH. Line-of-sight velocity fluctuation spectra contain meaningful maxima in the low-frequency region clustering around the values 0.4, 0.75, and 1 mHz. Usually, the spatial localization of these maxima mutually coincides and, in our opinion, coincides with the chromospheric network boundary. Acoustic 3- and 5-min oscillations are enhanced in the coronal hole region and reach 1 km s–1 in the photosphere and 3–4 km s–1 in the chromosphere. These oscillations are not localized spatially and are distinguished throughout the entire region observed.  相似文献

Previous observations of spatially-resolved vertical velocity variations in ten lines of Fe i spanning the height range 0 h 1000 km are re-analyzed using velocity weighting functions. The amplitudes and scale heights of granular and oscillatory velocities are determined, as well as those of the remaining unresolved velocities. I find that the optimal representation of the amplitude of the outward-decreasing granular velocities is an exponentially decreasing function of height, with a scale height of 150 km and a velocity at zero height of 1.27 km s–1. The optimal representation of the same quantities for oscillatory velocities is an exponential increase with height, with a scale height of 1100 km and a velocity at zero height of 0.35 km s–1. The remaining unresolved velocities decrease with height, with a scale height of 380 km and a velocity at zero height of 2.3 km s–1.  相似文献

We present observations of a UV event which occurred in a polar coronal hole. They were obtained by SUMER on SOHO in several chromospheric and transition region spectral lines. Its birth site was about 50 arc sec inside the limb and in a network lane showing a net outflow before its initiation. The event had an extension of about 5 arc sec along the slit, a duration of about 3 min and was characterized by a large increase of intensity together with a significant line broadening with, however, downflows of about 50 km s–1 being dominant. Proper motions with a velocity of about 10 km s–1 were also observed. The event appeared at middle transition (Ovi) temperatures and it simultaneously showed up in chromospheric (Oi, Ly ) and low transition region (Cii) temperatures. We discuss this event in view of different scenarios to account for it. Our event could be a part of the large family of quiet-Sun explosive events observed by Ryutova and Tarbell (2000) taking place in polar coronal holes that are triggered by magnetic reconnection in the low solar atmosphere.  相似文献

We report coincident observations of coronal and chromospheric flare wave transients in association with a flare, large-scale coronal dimming, metric radio activity and a coronal mass ejection. The two separate eruptions occurring on 24 September 1997 originate in the same active region and display similar morphological features. The first wave transient was observed in EUV and H data, corresponding to a wave disturbance in both the chromosphere and the solar corona, ranging from 250 to approaching 1000 km s–1 at different times and locations along the wavefront. The sharp wavefront had a similar extent and location in both the EUV and H data. The data did not show clear evidence of a driver, however. Both events display a coronal EUV dimming which is typically used as an indicator of a coronal mass ejection in the inner corona. White-light coronagraph observations indicate that the first event was accompanied by an observable coronal mass ejection while the second event did not have clear evidence of a CME. Both eruptions were accompanied by metric type II radio bursts propagating at speeds in the range of 500–750 km s–1, and neither had accompanying interplanetary type II activity. The timing and location of the flare waves appear to indicate an origin with the flaring region, but several signatures associated with coronal mass ejections indicate that the development of the CME may occur in concert with the development of the flare wave.  相似文献

Results are presented of an investigation of solar flare X-ray spectra in the region 1.70–1.95 Å, obtained aboard the Intercosmos-4 satellite during the maximum of solar activity (October–November, 1970). With the use of 6 high resolution spectra in the region 1.85–1.87 Å the identification of lines due to 18 transitions of 2p 1s type, consisting of the resonance, intercombination and forbidden Fe xxv ion lines and the satellite Fe xxiv lines has been performed. With the use of the recent laboratory data the averaged wavelengths of the lines were obtained confirming the theoretically calculated ones with an accuracy about ± 0.0004 Å. A variable Doppler shift of the Fe xxv resonance lines was observed for the flare of November 16, 1970, which points to hot plasma motions with velocities up to 400 km s-1.  相似文献

In this paper, series of rigid Mars nutations for the angular momentum axis, the rotation axis and the figure axis, as well as series of rigid Mars tide generating potential (TGP) are computed. The method used is based on the calculation of the forces produced by the external bodies on the rigid Mars. We have included the direct effect of the sun, Phobos and Deimos. We have also included the indirect effects associated with these bodies and planets of the Solar System which are given at the level of the ephemerides. For the nutation series, with a truncation level of 0.1mas (milliarcsecond), related to the present-day precision of the Martian precession constant, 24 terms in longitudes (*****) and 10 terms in obliquity (*****) are computed. The value of the dynamical flattening used is H D=(CA)/C=0.00536, derived from the value p a=–7576±35mas/yr for the precession rate. Our results show a perfect agreement with those of Bouquillon and Souchay (1996) to the truncation level of Bouquillon and Souchary (1mas). For the TGP series, we have set the truncation level to 10–6m2/s2 which corresponds to an effect on the vertical acceleration on Mars surface of about 10–12m/s2=0.1nanogal (1nanogal=10–11m/s2. With this truncation level, 134 terms are computed.  相似文献

New R-matrix calculations of electron impact excitation rates in Caxv are used to derive theoretical electron density diagnostic emission line intensity ratios involving 2s 22p 2–2s2p 3 transitions, specifically R 1=I(208.70 Å)/I(200.98 Å), R 2=I(181.91 Å)/I(200.98 Å), and R 3=I(215.38 Å)/I(200.98 Å), for a range of electron temperatures (T e=106.4–106.8 K) and densities (N e=109–1013 cm–3) appropriate to solar coronal plasmas. Electron densities deduced from the observed values of R 1, R 2, and R 3 for several solar flares, measured from spectra obtained with the Naval Research Laboratory's S082A spectrograph on board Skylab, are found to be consistent. In addition, the derived electron densities are in excellent agreement with those determined from line ratios in Caxvi, which is formed at a similar electron temperature to Caxv. These results provide some experimental verification for the accuracy of the line ratio calculations, and hence the atomic data on which they are based. A set of eight theoretical Caxv line ratios involving 2s 22p 2–2s2p 3 transitions in the wavelength range 140–216 Å are also found to be in good agreement with those measured from spectra of the TEXT tokamak plasma, for which the electron temperature and density have been independently determined. This provides additional support for the accuracy of the theoretical line ratios and atomic data.  相似文献

We have studied through a multiresolution wavelet analysis the oscillations in a limb prominence. Intensity fluctuations in time and height corresponding to different lines of Siiv and Oiv observed with SUMER on board SOHO have been analyzed in the wavelet bands of J3= 1 min 36 s to 3 min 12 s and J4=3 min 12 s to 6 min 24 s. For all species, oscillations in the J4 band were dominant. We found relevant differences between the behavior of line D1 (1393.76 Å) corresponding to Siiv and the set D2 (1401.16 Å), D3 (1404.81 Å), D4 (1402.77 Å) corresponding to Oiv, Oiv and Siiv respectively. We also report the identification of a pulse in the intensity of the line D1 that appears in the range of 15–20 min. This disturbance seems to travel with a speed of about 170 km s–1.  相似文献

For the leading part of sunspot group NOAA 8323, which rapidly changed its complex structure, a time series of the line-of-sight (LOS) component of the velocity field was obtained. With a two-dimensional Fabry–Pérot spectrometer, the magnetically insensitive line Fei 557.6 nm was scanned. The inclination of the LOS (heliographic angle) to the vertical was =28.5°. The umbra of the observed spot was divided by a system of light bridges into several parts. The spatial and temporal velocity field also exhibits a considerable complexity: in one extended umbral area there is a downward flow of 1 km s–1 relative to other dark sub-umbrae. At the center-side penumbra, with a line-of-sight Evershed outflow of 1.5 km s–1, a persistent patch, somewhat darker than the average penumbra, has a LOS velocity of 1.3 km s–1 in opposite direction, probably a downflow. At the limb-side penumbra, a photosphere-like area is interspersed, interrupting the Evershed flow which resumes with typical strength beyond this feature towards the outer penumbral boundary. Most interesting is the behavior of the light bridges, which have a slight blue shift, interrupted by short events of strong blue or red shifts which – within the time resolution of 35 s – instantly affect a considerable part of a light bridge.  相似文献

We studied the EUV line spectra of three flare observed with the NRL slit spectrograph on Skylab. The electron densities in the flare transition-zone plasmas are determined from density-sensitive lines of Si iii and O iv. The electron densities in all three flares studied were greatest during the flare maximum with values of the order of 1012 cm–3. The density decreases by a factor of 2 to 3 in the decay phase of the flares. The intensities of EUV lines from the flare chromospheric and transition-zone plasmas all are greatly enhanced. In contrast to lines for Oi, Ci, Feii and other chromospheric ions, the lines of Oiv and Nv and other transition-zone lines are not only enhanced but also very much broadened.Fitting of the N v 1242 Å line with a two-gaussian model shows that for two of the flares studied, there is a red-shifted component in addition to an unshifted component. The shifted component in the N v line profiles is interpreted as due to a dynamic and moving plasma with a bulk motion velocity of 12 km s–1 for one flare and more than 70 km s–1 for the other. The broadened line profiles indicate that there are large turbulent mass motions with random velocities ranging from 30 to 80 km s–1.Ball Corporation.
