SPACE RESECTION WITHOUT INTERIOR ORIENTATION

In this paper projective methods are used to resect the vertex of a picture when the interior orientation elements are unknown. In the course of the work the projective theory of photography is taken beyond its most elementary stages.     

THE USE OF AIRBORNE INSTRUMENTS IN THE DETERMINATION OF ABSOLUTE ORIENTATION ELEMENTS

This paper outlines the history of the development of various auxiliary instruments which can help in the determination of the elements of absolute orientation. The recent work of Dr. H. G. Jerie on height precision is summarised and results of tests carried out with air photography linked to auxiliary instrumental data are presented.

本文论述了滤光片的不平整度和光谱透射特性对航摄仪内方位元素、畸变差的影响,并对航摄仪不戴滤光片与戴滤光片做了对照检定实验,理论分析及实验结果都表明:滤光片对内方位元素、畸变差有较大影响,尤其对色像差较大的航摄仪,其影响更大。文章建议,航摄仪在检定时应加戴航摄时使用的滤光片。     

壁画复制中几何控制点的测定

本文提出了一种测定壁画控制点的方法,并对观测中各个环节进行了精度分析。经试验和实地观测可以达到要求,从而解决了壁画复制过程中的几何控制问题。

AN APPLICATION OF CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN SHIPBUILDING

A test was devised to measure the distortion of a ship section during and after a crane lift. As the shipbuilders expend significant man hours and costs in carrying out adjustments to fit ship sections together after lifting, it was hoped that information gained from the test could be used to make design adjustments to ensure a better fit. The test was carried out by BKS Surveys Ltd. and Harland and Wolff Ltd., the Belfast shipbuilders.

THE CALIBRATION OF AERIAL SURVEY CAMERAS

Two experimental procedures for aerial survey camera calibration using respectively a Wild TA theodolite and a modified Cooke, Trough ton and Simms geodetic theodolite are described. The procedures determine radial distortion only; tangential distortion is assumed to be negligible. Details of a graphical method of computing the results are given in an appendix.

ON THE CALIBRATION OF UNDERWATER CAMERAS

Analytical plumbline and serf calibration techniques are applied to the calibration of two underwater cameras: a Rolleifex SLX réseau camera with an Aquamarin WKD-SLX/6006 submarine housing and a Nikonos V underwater camera. The Rolleiflex was fitted with a 50 mm Distagon f/4 lens and the Nikonos with a 28 mm Nikkor-UW f/3.5 lens. Comparisons of the results from the two methods of camera calibration are described. Theoretical differences are predicted for in-air versus in-water values for radial distortion. When these are compared to the actually observed values of distortion, an insight is provided of the precisions claimed for each method of camera calibration.     

MEASUREMENT OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS IN DESERT TERRAIN BY CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY

As part of the measurements of desert terrain characteristics in the United Arab Emirates, made in support of a study of airborne radar, close range vertical stereophotographs of various natural surfaces were taken with a pair of Hasselblad MK70 metric cameras. The technique is described and the constraints imposed by the ground conditions and the need for rapid measurements are explained. Various terrain types are illustrated and the method is described whereby variables summarising surface roughness and surface slope were generated from profiles of the microrelief. From a more general discussion of current equipment and geomorphological applications of close range photogrammetry, it is concluded that this flexible technique is presently under utilised by field scientists.
