This paper proposes a method for constructing an experimental power beam pattern (PB) of RATAN-600 based on the sample of NVSS sources observed in the process of a deep sky survey near local zenith. The data obtained from observations of radio sources at λ7.6 cm in nine bands of the survey (the 2002 and 2003 sets) are used to construct vertical PB of the telescope at rather large offsets from the central horizontal section of the PB (±36′). The experimental PBs obtained using different methods are compared and the root-mean-square deviations of the experimental PB from the corresponding computed PB are determined. The stability of the power beam pattern in its central part (±6′) during the RATAN-600 Zenith Field (RZF) survey (1998–2003) and the accuracies of the fluxes of the sources observed within the framework of this survey and included into the RZF catalog are estimated [1].  相似文献

We report the results of numerical simulations of the instrumental signal in the Stokes V channel of circular polarization as observed by RATAN-600 radio telescope operating in the “Southern sector with a flat reflector” mode. Our simulations are based on an improved algorithm of the beam pattern computation that takes into account diffraction in the space between the telescope mirrors. The computations cover a wide range of wavelengths in the case of a focused antenna and in the presence of aberrations. We analyze the structure and properties of the element M 41 of the Mueller matrix and of the parasite signal from the solar disk in various cases of the antenna irradiation. We estimate the differences between the left- and right-polarization power-beam patterns of the telescope. We report the computed M 11 and M 41 elements for the case of observation of the right- and left-polarized radiation at different points of the focal line of the secondary mirror, and analyze their variations as a function of a number of parameters, including, in particular, the shift applied to correct the displacement of scans.  相似文献

We report the spectra of the horizontal size of the beam pattern of the RATAN-600 radio telescope operating in the “Southern Sector with a Flat Reflector” observing mode computed in the geometrical optics approximation with allowance for the beam patterns of various primary feeds used in observations with the solar receiver facility in the 3–18 GHz frequency interval. In particular, we show that in the case broadband, spiral, or sinuous feeds are used, the width of the horizontal beam pattern of the antenna decreases with wavelength in the low-frequency part of the spectrum. We compute the spectra of the sizes of two compact local sources on the Sun, which show that the results obtained have to be taken into account when determining the parameters of local sources.  相似文献

We report the results of computation of the power beam pattern (PB) of the RATAN-600 radio telescope operating in the Southern-sector-with-flat-reflector (South+flat) mode throughout the entire operating frequency range of the radio telescope with the allowance for diffraction effects in the space between the secondary, primary, and flat mirrors. We also computed the gain-phase field distributions at the mirror surfaces when operating in the South+flat mode and in single-sector observations at the close to horizon elevations. The width of the power beam pattern in the vertical direction is shown to decrease and the maximum of the diagram to shift towards lower elevations with increasing wavelength. When the radio telescope is operated in the South+flat mode the above two changes in the power beam pattern begin to show up at shorter wavelengths compared to the case of single-sector operation. The shift of the power beam pattern maximum is shown to depend on the height at which the antenna is mounted. The power beam pattern was computed both for the case of a focused antenna and for the case of the off-focus primary emitter. We report the results of the computation of the PB performed in terms of the Fresnel diffraction and geometrical optics approximations, and also based on the available experimental data. The diagrams computed using this technique agree well with the measured power beams.  相似文献

Radio sources of the RC catalog produced in 1980–1985 at RATAN-600 radio telescope based on a deep survey of a sky strip centered on the declination of the SS433 source are optically identified in the region overlapping with FIRST and SDSS surveys (about 132?° large). The NVSS catalog was used as the reference catalog for refining the coordinates of the radio sources. The morphology is found for about 75% of the objects of the sample and the ratio of single, double and multicomponent radio sources is computed based on FIRST radio maps. The 74, 365, 1400, and 4850MHz data of the VLSS, TXS, NVSS, FIRST, and GB6 catalogs are used to analyze the shape of the spectra.  相似文献

We use two independent methods to reduce the data of the surveys made with RATAN-600 radio telescope at 7.6 cm in 1988–1999 at the declination of the SS433 source. We also reprocess the data of the “Cold” survey (1980–1981). The resulting RCR (RATAN COLD REFINED) catalog contains the right ascensions and fluxes of objects identified with those of the NVSS catalog in the right-ascension interval 7 h ≤ R.A. < 17 h . We obtain the spectra of the radio sources and determine their spectral indices at 3.94 and 0.5 GHz. The spectra are based on the data from all known catalogs available from the CATS, Vizier, and NED databases, and the flux estimates inferred from the maps of the VLSS and GB6 surveys. For 245 of the 550 objects of the RCR catalog the fluxes are known at two frequencies only: 3.94 GHz (RCR) and 1.4 GHz (NVSS). These are mostly sources with fluxes smaller than 30mJy. About 65% of these sources have flat or inverse spectra (α > −0.5). We analyze the reliability of the results obtained for the entire list of objects and construct the histograms of the spectral indices and fluxes of the sources. Our main conclusion is that all 10–15 mJy objects found in the considered right-ascension interval were already included in the decimeter-wave catalogs.  相似文献

The refined data on the diffraction scattering of RATAN-600 allowed the telescope field of view to be increased substantially at large elevations. Amethod, which can be used to reconstruct the parameters of the sources passing at angular distances fromthe beamaxis that are several dozen times greater than the half-power width of the beam, is analyzed. The knowledge about wide scattering of RATAN-600 allowed the noise from background radio sources at zenith to be reduced by one order of magnitude and flux sensitivity of the radio telescope to be increased by the same factor without resorting to two-dimensional mapping. Methods for cleaning one-dimensional records of the RZF survey are suggested that use model scans based on the data of the NVSS survey and MHAT filtering. The latter proved to be an especially efficient tool for suppressing sky noise and identifying sources in the central section of the survey. The flux sensitivity of RATAN-600 is estimated with new opportunities taken into account.  相似文献

We review the methods of determining the alignment errors of the primary mirror and flat reflector elements of the RATAN-600 radio telescope using a modern coordinate measuring system based on the Leica absolute tracker AT402. We computed the kinematic corrections for the elevation drives. The accuracy of the measurement method was estimated. The antenna readout with the introduced kinematic corrections was tested.  相似文献

We present the automated systemfor estimating the parameters of radio sources observed on all available continuum radiometers (two receiving facilities of secondary mirrors No. 1 and No. 2 with a total of 30 radiometers) developed at RATAN-600 radio telescope and put into normal operation. The system is also used for the monitoring of the parameters of the antenna and receiving systems of RATAN-600 radio telescope, which is carried out using current measurements of calibration radio sources.  相似文献

This paper describes a wide-field survey made at 34.5 MHz using GEETEE,1 the low frequency telescope at Gauribidanur (latitude 13°36′12′′N). This telescope was used in the transit mode and by per forming 1-D synthesis along the north-south direction the entire observable sky was mapped in a single day. This minimized the problems that hinder wide-field low-frequency mapping. This survey covers the declination range of-50° to + 70° (- 33° to +61° without aliasing) and the complete 24 hours of right ascension. The synthesized beam has a resolution of 26′ x 42′ sec (δ- 14°. 1). The sensitivity of the survey is 5 Jy/beam (1σ). Special care has been taken to ensure that the antenna responds to all angular scale structures and is suitable for studies of both point sources and extended objects This telescope is jointly operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore and the Roman Research Institute, Bangalore.  相似文献

We present the estimates of Galactic synchrotron and free-free emission power at intermediate and small scales (500 < l < 1000, 20′ < θ < 40′), based on the RATAN-600 radio telescope observations (SAO RAS). The observations were conducted in the frequency range of 2.3–11.2 GHz using the transit scan mode, in the declination range of 40.7° s δ < 42.3°. The power spectrum estimates of synchrotron and free-free components were obtained. They can be further used in the data processing stage of the high-resolution cosmological experiments like Planck.  相似文献

We present a catalog of radio sources extending the RCR (RATAN Cold Refined) catalog to the right-ascension interval 2h ≤ RA < 7h. The list of objects was obtained in the process of a reprocessing of the observations of the “Cold” experiment conducted in 1980–1981 on RATAN-600 radio telescope at the declination of SS433, and the reduction of the 1987–1999 surveys of the same experiment. We report the right ascensions and integrated flux densities for 237 sources found at 7.6 cm (3.94 GHz) and their spectral exponents at 3.94 and 0.5 GHz. Twenty-nine sources of the list, which are mostly weaker than 30 mJy at 3.94 GHz, have available data only at two frequencies—1.4 and 3.94 Hz.We approximated the spectra of the sources using all catalogs available in the CATS and VizieR databases that meet the survey strip, and, in some cases, using the flux densities estimates from VLSSr,GLEAM, TGSS, and GB6 survey maps.We constructed the histograms of the spectral indices of the sources and verified the reliability of the identifications of sources found in the scans by comparing the coordinates and integrated flux densities with the corresponding parameters listed in the NVSS catalog. In the right ascension interval considered we found no objects at the 10–15 mJy level lacking in decimeter-wave catalogs.  相似文献

A new Data Acquisition and Control System for performing continuum radio-astronomical observations with the RATAN-600 radio telescope is presented. One of the “building blocks” of the system is the Embedded Radiometric Data Acquisition System (ER-DAS) developed at the RATAN-600. It is a measurement facility meant for digitizing and reducing radiometer signals and for transmitting the result of these operations via Ethernet networks. ER-DAS system is shown to have a low self-noise level and to lack 1/f-type noise. The measurement facility is shown to operate efficiently in radio-astronomical observations. Radiometric measurements of the parameters of high-sensitivity radiometers are illustrated in the case of the measurements of radiometer gain fluctuations.  相似文献

In this paper we simulate a deep multi-frequency zenith-field sky survey on RATAN-600 (the RZF survey). In our simulations we use the 1.4-GHz sky images obtained in the NVSS survey. We convolved NVSS images with the two-dimensional power beam pattern of RATAN-600 and obtain simulated 24-hour scans of sky transits at all wavelengths of the RZF survey. For the 7.6-cm wavelength we analyze the effect of the image area size on the results of the simulation. We estimate the accuracy of the determination of source fluxes on simulated scans and derive the distributions of the spectral indices of the sources. We use the simulated scans to clean real records of the RZF survey at 7.6 cm. The standard error of the residual noise at this wavelength is about 1 mJy.  相似文献

One-dimensional sections of WMAP maps—ILC and background components (synchrotron, free-free radiation and dust emission) are investigated and their correlation properties on various angular scales are analyzed. Sections of the ILC map are found to correlate significantly with the maps of Galactic background components at the δ = 41° declination of RATAN-600 survey. The confidence level of the correlations found is estimated by analyzing random realizations of the Gaussian process that describes the microwave background. A method for identifying correlated intervals from maps on the sphere as a function of angular scale is proposed. This method can be used to search for non-Gaussian features (spots) found in the distribution of microwave background and radio sources in the same coordinate areas. The approach described can also be used to search for such non-Gaussian sources in observational programs performed on the radio telescope RATAN-600.  相似文献

We report some of the results of the search for narrow-band spatial and spectral fluctuations of cosmic microwave background at the wavelength of 6.2 cmperformed with the RATAN-600 radio telescope in 2001–2006 in two 35′ × 7′ strips on the sky in the vicinity of the North Celestial Pole. We find the spectra of spatial fluctuations in the 12 MHz radio-frequency band and in the interval of spatial periods from 4′ to 16′ to exhibit power-law rises with exponents reaching ?2.0±0.5, with a periodicity of 2–3 MHz. We also find two narrow-band (in terms of angular frequency) features at 4870.4 and 4871.5 MHz with the corresponding fluctuation amplitudes of 5±0.5 mK in terms of antenna temperature in the vicinity of angular periods of about 5′ with the frequency bandwidths of about 600 kHz. Standard tests performed using the spectra of the half-sum and half-difference of two groups of observations randomly drawn from a total sample of 23 records of the March 2002 observing set confirm the reality of the features of the angular spectrumof fluctuations mentioned above and so does the comparison with the spectra of cold matched load connected to the receiver input instead of the antenna. However, the nature of the features found remains unclear. Our attempt to link this radiation to rotational transitions 2Π1/2, J = 5/2 of the CH molecule, which has one of the components of its multiplet located inside the frequency interval of interest considered failed.  相似文献

Deep 1–49 cm surveys of the circumzenithal sky area performed using the RATAN-600 radio telescope allowed the spectral index of Galactic synchrotron emission in the 7.6–49 cm wavelength interval to be refined. The data obtained are inconsistent with the model of synchrotron emission adopted to interpret the results of the first year of the WMAP mission, which led to the hypothesis of the early secondary ionization of the Universe at redshifts Z > 10–30. New observations made with the RATAN-600 demonstrated the possibility of deep studies of the intensity and polarization of the microwave background (the E component) in ground-based experiments at short centimeter wavelengths. Galactic synchrotron emission may as well limit the possibilities of space- and ground-based studies of the polarization of cosmic microwave background radiation arising as a result of scattering induced by relic gravitational waves (the B component). The sky area studied with the RATAN-600 is intended to be used to interpret the PLANCK mission data in order to ensure a more detailed account of the role of the Galactic synchrotron emission.  相似文献

We report the results of spectral-polarization observations of the active region NOAA 10848 made with the RATAN-600 radio telescope. High spectral resolution (1%) of observations allowed obtaining detailed temperature height profiles for the sources located above the sunspots in the transition region from the chromosphere to the corona. The resulting vertical profiles indicate that the transition region above the sunspots may extend over a considerable height interval and be characterized by a gradual increase of temperature—a pattern that is inconsistent with model atmospheres having a sharp temperature increase in the transition region.  相似文献

We observed comet Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O1) at Pic du Midi Observatory in 1997 from February 2.24 UT to March 31.89 UT with the 1.05-m telescope equipped with a CCD camera and broad- and narrow-band IHW filters. A total of 30000 images were acquired both during night- and day-time. The images were automatically reduced and all the images obtained within 10 min. were co-added to give a set of ∼1000 images used during the analysis. We can identify two jets on the images. The position angle of the brightest jet from February 2.24 UT to March 5.22 UT is measured using an automatic routine which searches for the averaged position angle of the maximum of brightness at a projected distance of 3200–6100 km from the optocenter. A preliminary model of nucleus rotation is used to fit the data and retrieve the rotational parameters of the nucleus. The best fit is found for a source located at a latitude of 64 ± 3°, a sidereal rotation period of 11.35 ± 0.04 h and a right ascension and declination of the North pole of 275 ± 10° and -57 ± 10°. This preliminary analysis shows no evidence for a precession. Grains with velocities of 450–600 m s−1 and radii <;∼ 1 μm dominate the optical scattering cross section in the jets. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this study we attempt to assess the possibility of detection of variable sources using the data of the 7.6-cm wavelength surveys carried out on the RATAN-600 radio telescope in the period from 1980 through 1994. Objects selected according to certain criteria from the RCR catalog are used to construct the calibration curves and to estimate the accuracy of the resulting calibration curves and determine the r.m.s. errors for the measured source flux densities. To check the calibration sources for the presence of variable objects, quantitative estimates are performed for a number of parameters that characterize variability, in particular, for the long-term variability index V and the χ 2 (chi-square) probability p. The long-term variability index was found to be positive for 14 out of approximately 80 calibration sources, possibly indicating that these sources are variable. The most likely candidate variables are the three sources with the χ 2 probability p > 0.95. Five sources have χ 2 probabilities in the 0.85 < p < 0.95 interval, and the remaining six in the 0.6 < p < 0.8 interval. Nine out of 14 objects are possibly variable in the optical range. The light curves and spectra are determined for possible variable sources and a number of “non-variable” objects. We plan to use the results of this study in our future searches for variable radio sources using the data of the “Cold” surveys.  相似文献
