Considerable effort has been devoted to develop optimal control methods for reducing structural response under seismic forces. In this study analytical solution of the linear regulator problem applied widely to the control of earthquake‐excited structures is obtained by using the sufficient conditions of optimality even though almost all of the optimal controls proposed previously for structural control are based on the necessary conditions of optimality. Since the resulting optimal closed–open‐loop control cannot be implemented for civil structures exposed to earthquake forces, the solution of the optimal closed–open‐loop control is carried out approximately based on the prediction of the seismic acceleration values in the near future. Upon obtaining the relation between the exact optimal solution and future values of seismic accelerations, it is shown numerically that the solution of the optimal closed–open‐loop control problem can be performed approximately by using only the first few predicted seismic acceleration values if a given norm criteria is satisfied. Calculated performance measures indicate that the suggested approximate solution is better than the closed‐loop control and as we predict the future values of the excitation more accurately, it will approach the optimal solution. Three-dimensional gravity inversion based on the mass property model is very popular in recent years. The time and efficiency of inversion algorithms is relative to the magnitude of the target mesh. One approach is to search over the entire solution space for a more refined result. However, the inversion will be difficult with the increased parameters in the large search space and the number of computations increases exponentially. |n this paper, we propose a novel approach based on the frequency characteristics of the density distribution over the mesh. The purposes of our study are to reduce the parameters of three- dimensional gravity inversion and to lighten the image quality of the inversion result. The results show that the new method can expedite the inversion processing and get a better geological interpretation than tradition methods. 相似文献

A methodology for the optimal design of supplemental viscous dampers for framed structures is presented. It addresses the problem of minimizing the added damping subject to a constraint on the maximal interstorey angular drift for an ensemble of realistic ground motion records while assuming linear behaviour of the damped structure. The solution is achieved by actually solving an equivalent optimization problem of minimizing the added damping subject to a constraint on a maximal weighted integral on the squared angular drift. The computational effort is appreciably reduced by first using one ‘active’ ground motion record. If the resulting optimal design fails to satisfy the constraints for other ground motions from the original ensemble, additional ground motions (loading conditions) are added one by one to the ‘active’ set until the optimum is reached. An efficient selecting process which is presented herein will usually require one or two records to attain an optimum design. Examples of optimal designs of supplemental dampers are presented for a 2‐storey shear frame and a 10‐storey industrial frame. The 2‐storey shear frame is required to withstand one given ground motion whereas the 10‐storey frame is required to withstand an ensemble of twenty ground motions. Abstract The physically-based flood frequency models use readily available rainfall data and catchment characteristics to derive the flood frequency distribution. In the present study, a new physically-based flood frequency distribution has been developed. This model uses bivariate exponential distribution for rainfall intensity and duration, and the Soil Conservation Service-Curve Number (SCS-CN) method for deriving the probability density function (pdf) of effective rainfall. The effective rainfall-runoff model is based on kinematic-wave theory. The results of application of this derived model to three Indian basins indicate that the model is a useful alternative for estimating flood flow quantiles at ungauged sites. 相似文献

To limit the response of structures during external disturbances such as strong winds or large seismic events, structural control systems can be used. In the structural engineering field, attention has been shifted from active control to semi‐active control systems. Unlike active control system devices, semi‐active devices are compact, have efficient power consumption characteristics and are less expensive. As a result, an environment of a large number of actuators and sensors will result, rendering a complex large‐scale dynamic system. Such a system is best controlled by a decentralized approach such as market‐based control (MBC). In MBC, the system is modelled as a market place of buyers and sellers that leads to an efficient allocation of control power. The resulting MBC solution is shown to be locally Pareto optimal. This novel control approach is applied to three linear structural systems ranging from a one‐storey structure to a 20‐storey structure, all controlled by semi‐active hydraulic dampers. It is shown that MBC is competitive in the reduction of structural responses during large seismic loadings as compared to the centralized control approach of the linear quadratic regulation controller. 针对我国东部油田目前急需解决的河流相薄互层储层预测中地震资料分辨率不能满足实际需求的问题,提出了一种高频重建方法.该方法利用地震资料极值点得到的调制函数通过与原地震资料的运算得到重建资料的高频部分,保留原地震资料的低频部分,得到重建的高频地震资料.该方法计算时间较常见方法大大缩短,参数调节非常方便,结果保持了原有同相轴的波组特征,避免了常见提频方法中打破原有同相轴添加新的零点产生假象的错误,而且对比原始剖面增添了层间细节.该方法有效的拓宽了地震资料有效频带,并通过实际资料的处理给予证实. 相似文献

Identification of uncertainty in low flow frequency analysis using Bayesian MCMC method 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This study employs the Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method with the Metropolis–Hastings algorithm and maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) using a quadratic approximation of the likelihood function for the evaluation of uncertainties in low flow frequency analysis using a two‐parameter Weibull distribution. The two types of prior distributions, a non‐data‐based distribution and a data‐based distribution using regional information collected from neighbouring stations, are used to establish a posterior distribution. Eight case studies using the synthetic data with a sample size of 100, generated from two‐parameter Weibull distribution, are performed to compare with results of analysis using MLE and Bayesian MCMC. Also, Bayesian MCMC and MLE are applied to 36 years of gauged data to validate the efficiency of the developed scheme. These examples illustrate the advantages of Bayesian MCMC and the limitations of MLE based on a quadratic approximation. From the point of view of uncertainty analysis, Bayesian MCMC is more effective than MLE using a quadratic approximation when the sample size is small. In particular, Bayesian MCMC method is more attractive than MLE based on a quadratic approximation because the sample size of low flow at the site of interest is mostly not enough to perform the low flow frequency analysis. The distributions of discrete frequency, N, versus interoccurrence time, t (in days), of M 7 earthquakes in the Taiwan region during the 1900–1994 period, M 6 earthquakes in the north-south seismic belt of China during the 1900–1990 period, and M 5.5 earthquakes in Southern California, U.S.A., during the 1914–1995 period are studied through two statistical models (gamma function and exponential function). Results show that both the exponential function and gamma function can describe the distributions. However, the former is more appropriate than the latter. This indicates that the three time series of earthquakes have a significant component of Poisson processes, even though the tectonic conditions, the fault distributions and the size of the three seismic regions are different. 相似文献

Asymmetric structures experience uneven deformation demand among different resisting planes and stories when subjected to earthquake excitation. Damage is focused in some elements jeopardizing structural integrity. These structures are common in professional practice because of architectural and functionality constraints. In this scenario the use of energy dissipation devices (EDD) has arisen as an advisable solution to balance and minimize structural damage. Procedures for the design of linear structures equipped with EDD have been widely proposed in the literature, few of them deal with the optimum spatial distribution of nonlinear systems. This paper evaluates and compares the optimized spatial damper distribution of linear and nonlinear systems. An optimization technique is presented based on control indexes called min–max algorithm. Then, this technique is compared with two simple methodologies: (i) the fully stressed design, which is an analysis‐redesign procedure, and (ii) the simplified sequential search algorithm (SSSA), which is a sequential method. It is pointed out that the SSSA is a fixed step coordinate descent type method. The examples considered show that the SSSA is a discrete approximation of the min–max algorithm, not only for linear but also for nonlinear structures equipped with linear and nonlinear EDD. Furthermore, it is found that the distribution of EDD obtained from a linear analysis is a good approximation of the nonlinear optimal solution. The SSSA is a reliable method that can be applied to achieve drift and torsional balance for design purposes; moreover, it can be implemented with conventional tools available in professional practice. 远场类谐和地震动与近断层脉冲型地震动是两种不同类型的长周期地震动,确定其能量的时频分布特性对理解长周期地震动作用下长周期结构的反应特点及揭示结构破坏机理具有重要意义.各选10条远场类谐和地震动、近断层脉冲型地震动与普通地震动,利用Hilbert-Huang变换,提取出各地震动的3-D Hilbert幅值谱、边际谱、Hilbert能量谱与瞬时能量曲线,在此基础上提出累积能量谱、强频段、能量时间分布系数等概念,定义了多个指标对比分析三类地震动的长周期特性、宽频带特性和脉冲特性.结果表明:与普通地震动相比,远场类谐和地震动与近断层脉冲型地震动的能量主要集中于较低的频段,长周期特性明显,且远场类谐和地震动的能量集中频段低于近断层脉冲型地震动;远场类谐和地震动的强频段宽度小于其他两类地震动,且能量在强频段内的分布比其他两类地震动均匀;与其他两类地震动相比,远场类谐和地震动的脉冲特性不明显;三类地震动的卓越频率与能量时间分布系数均存在明显的分布规律,可以作为地震动的能量表征参数. 相似文献

In many cases, the seismic response of bottom‐simulating reflectors is characterised by low frequencies called “low‐frequency shadow”. Generally, this phenomenon is interpreted as attenuation due to partial saturation with free gas. Actually, this frequency loss may have multiple causes, with a normal moveout stretch as a possible candidate. To analyse this phenomenon, we compute synthetic seismograms by assuming a lossy bottom‐simulating layer, with varying quality factor and thickness, bounded by the upper hydrate‐brine/gas‐brine and lower gas‐brine/brine interfaces. First, we estimate the shift of the centroid frequency of the power spectrum as a function of the travelled distance of the seismic pulse. Then, we perform one‐dimensional numerical experiments to quantify the loss of frequency of the seismic event below the bottom‐simulating reflector as a function of the quality factor of the bottom‐simulating layer and its thickness (due to wave interference). Then, we compute shot gathers to obtain the stacked section, with and without the normal moveout stretch correction and with and without the presence of wave attenuation in the bottom‐simulating layer. The results indicate that the low‐frequency shadow due to the normal moveout stretch is stronger than that due to attenuation and may constitute a false indicator of the presence of gas. In fact, often, the low‐frequency shadow overlies events with higher frequencies, in contradiction with the physics of wave propagation. This is particularly evident when the low‐frequency shadow is so extensive that the presence of high frequencies below cannot be justified by the acquisition geometry. 相似文献

Stationarity is often assumed for frequency analysis of low flows in water resources management and planning. However, many studies have shown that flow characteristics, particularly the frequency spectrum of extreme hydrologic events, were modified by climate change and human activities. Thus, the conventional frequency analysis that fails to consider the nonstationary characteristics may lead to costly design. The analysis presented in this paper was based on the more than 100 years of daily flow data from the Yichang gauging station 44 km downstream of the Three Gorges Dam. The Mann–Kendall trend test under the scaling hypothesis showed that the annual low flows had a significant monotonic trend, whereas an abrupt change point was identified in 1936 by the Pettitt test. The climate‐informed low‐flow frequency analysis and the divided and combined method were employed to account for the impacts from related climate variables and nonstationarities in annual low flows. Without prior knowledge of the probability density function for the gauging station, six distribution functions including the generalized extreme values (GEV), Pearson Type III, Gumbel, Gamma, Lognormal and Weibull distributions have been tested to find the best fit, in which the local likelihood method is used to estimate the parameters. Analyses show that GEV had the best fit for the observed low flows. This study has also shown that the climate‐informed low‐flow frequency analysis is able to exploit the link between climate indices and low flows, which would account for the dynamic feature for reservoir management and provide more accurate and reliable designs for infrastructure and water supply. This article presents an application of a procedure to modify the intensity distribution by assessing the reliability. There are two potential possibilities that may influence the intensity distribution: (1) For the interpolation error, we generate a measured grid across the calculation region. When the point to station spacing is <5 km, we consider the results precise; however, some points have less precision because these are farther from the corresponding stations. When the spacing is between 5 and 50 km, we consider the results imprecise and define a reliability factor that correlates with the distance. (2) Some records may have errors that result from local site conditions, equipment problems, or some disturbance such as lightning stroke, which will lead to some grid points having an incorrect intensity. We regress the attenuation relation for sites with abnormal intensities and consider the results to be accurate when the standard deviation (STD) is <σ and inaccurate when the STD is > 2σ. We then define a reliability factor to correlate with STD between σ and 2σ, such that the intensity distribution is in accord with both wave propagation theory and the investigation intensity. 相似文献

列举分析了国外文献所记载的几类低频事件.选择汶川MS8.0地震主断层附近四川省部分台网宽频带数据,采用相应频段,进行带通滤波处理,检测到4种类似的低频事件波形.分别为低频震颤与滑移事件(ETS事件),深低频地震事件(LFE事件),深低频震动事件(DLF事件),以及超低频震动事件(VLF事件).定位分析实例证实,汶川震前的ETS和DLF等低频事件发生在主断层附近,表明大震发生之前龙门山断裂带附近有低频事件发生,主要为ETS和VLF两类事件及少量DLF事件.因有远震记录与LFE事件时间相近,无法确认此类事件是否存在.低频事件作为天然地震目录的补充,可为大震前兆和触发机理研究提供新的探索方向. 相似文献

To better understand the effect of fluid distribution on the electric response of rocks saturated with oil and brine, we conducted experimental studies on the complex electrical impedance in a Berea sandstone, together with in situ acquisitions of oil distribution images employing a high‐resolution medical X‐ray computed tomography. We performed two tests of brine displacement by oil under high (10 MPa) and low (5 MPa) pressures, which were accompanied by fingering and stable displacement patterns, respectively. The measured complex impedance data were fitted to the Cole model to obtain the resistance, capacitance, peak frequency of the imaginary impedance, and the exponent α of the rock–fluid system. With increasing oil saturation, the resistance showed an increasing trend, whereas the other three parameters decreased. The fingering displacement exhibited lower resistance and capacitance than the stable displacement. The analysis of the resistance changes using a simple parallel connection model indicates that there are more components of residual brine in parallel connections in the fingering pattern than in the stable displacement pattern at the same saturation. We also interpreted the normalised changes in the capacitance (or apparent dielectric constant) with respect to the oil saturation via an analysis of the shape factor of fluid distribution based on the Maxwell–Wagner–Brugermann–Hanai model. The changes in the shape factor suggest that the pinch‐off of the brine in parallel connection by the oil is a dominant mechanism reducing the capacitance. In the stable displacement, most of the connections in the brine phase are immediately pinched off by oil displacement front at a local oil saturation of 65%. Conversely, in the fingering displacement, there is a transition from the bulk or layered brine to the pinched‐off at a local oil saturation below 60%. The analyses indicate that the difference in the fluid distribution under different fluid conditions is responsible for the non‐Archie behaviour. 相似文献

The response of low‐ductility reinforced concrete (RC) frames, designed typically for a non‐seismic region, subjected to two frequencies of base excitations is studied. Five half‐scaled, two‐bay, two‐storey, RC frames, each approximately 5 m wide by 3.3 m high, were subjected to both horizontal and/or vertical base excitations with a frequency of 40 Hz as well as a lower frequency of about 4 Hz (close to the fundamental frequency) using a shake table. The imposed acceleration amplitude ranged from 0.2 to 1.2g. The test results showed that the response characteristics of the structures differed under high‐ and low‐frequency excitations. The frames were able to sustain high‐frequency excitations without damage but were inadequate for low‐frequency excitations, even though the frames exhibited some ductility. Linear‐elastic time‐history analysis can predict reasonably well the structural response under high‐frequency excitations. As the frames were not designed for seismic loads, the reinforcement detailing may not have been adequate, based on the crack pattern observed. The effect of vertical excitation can cause significant additional forces in the columns and moment reversals in the beams. 通过对大同地震活动窗自开启以来(1989年10月~2016年10月)的地震频次和应变能进行统计分析,发现大同窗的月频次衰减拟合结果呈现分段交替活动特征,可分为3个活跃时段和2个背景活动时段。当处在活跃时段时,山西和张渤这2个地震活动带的地震密集发生,但在正常背景活动时,2个地震带发生的地震则较少。应变能统计结果表明,鄂尔多斯块体周缘强震对大同窗的地震活动有较直接的影响,显示出强震的震级越大、与大同窗的距离越近,则大同窗出现应变能异常就越早、幅度也越大;另外,大同窗受青藏块体强震的影响较强,而受西太平洋板块俯冲的影响较弱;大同窗应变能在周边块体强震后的反应,可能与其所处的地质构造环境有关,因此对应力场的变化较敏感。 相似文献

Parametric method of flood frequency analysis (FFA) involves fitting of a probability distribution to the observed flood data at the site of interest. When record length at a given site is relatively longer and flood data exhibits skewness, a distribution having more than three parameters is often used in FFA such as log‐Pearson type 3 distribution. This paper examines the suitability of a five‐parameter Wakeby distribution for the annual maximum flood data in eastern Australia. We adopt a Monte Carlo simulation technique to select an appropriate plotting position formula and to derive a probability plot correlation coefficient (PPCC) test statistic for Wakeby distribution. The Weibull plotting position formula has been found to be the most appropriate for the Wakeby distribution. Regression equations for the PPCC tests statistics associated with the Wakeby distribution for different levels of significance have been derived. Furthermore, a power study to estimate the rejection rate associated with the derived PPCC test statistics has been undertaken. Finally, an application using annual maximum flood series data from 91 catchments in eastern Australia has been presented. Results show that the developed regression equations can be used with a high degree of confidence to test whether the Wakeby distribution fits the annual maximum flood series data at a given station.
