It is past time for us to examine the relationship that exists between what we commonly call spatial analysis on the one
hand, and geographic information systems or GIS on the other. GIS technology is widely used but seems to incorporate only
a portion of the tools found in spatial analysis. Spatial analysis can be accused of overly simplistic approaches that severely
limit its practical utility. This paper suggests that discarding myopic views and meeting upon a common ground of increased
knowledge of modern computing concepts and techniques, including object-orientation, can prove extremely fruitful to both

以多尺度空间数据为研究对象,讨论其混合索引结构的建立方法。对于多尺度矢量空间数据提出基于多层次网格与R 树混合索引结构,栅格数据进行分块并建立四叉树索引结构。利用双向链表结构连接同尺度下的矢栅空间数据,实现矢栅之间的无缝转化;并用地理数据编码及双向链表结构连接不同尺度下的同一空间对象,实现多尺度空间对象的纵向无缝连接。进而实现多尺度空间数据的快速可视化及空间对象的纵向无缝查询。 相似文献

Urban growth identification, quantification, knowledge of rate and the trends of growth would help in regional planning for
better infrastructure provision in environmentally sound way. This requires analysis of spatial and temporal data, which help
in quantifying the trends of growth on spatial scale. Emerging technologies such as Remote Sensing, Geographic Information
System (GIS) along with Global Positioning System (GPS) help in this regard. Remote sensing aids in the collection of temporal
data and GIS helps in spatial analysis. This paper focuses on the analysis of urban growth pattern in the form of either radial
or linear sprawl along the Bangalore — Mysore highway. Various GIS base layers such as built-up areas along the highway, road
network, village boundary etc. were generated using collateral data such as the Survey of India toposheet, etc. Further, this
analysis was complemented with the computation of Shannon’s entropy, which helped in identifying prevalent sprawl zone, rate
of growth and in delineating potential sprawl locations. The computation Shannon’s entropy helped in delineating regions with
dispersed and compact growth. This study reveals that the Bangalore North and South taluks contributed mainly to the sprawl
with 559% increase in built-up area over a period of 28 years and high degree of dispersion. The Mysore and Srirangapatna
region showed 128% change in built-up area and a high potential for sprawl with slightly high dispersion. The degree of sprawl
was found to be directly proportional to the distances from the cities. 相似文献

Because of the complexity of 3-D spatial phenomenon, there are no perfect data structures that can describe all spatial entities. Every data structure has its own advantages and disadvantages. It is difficult to design a single data structure to meet different needs. The important subject in the 3-D data models is developing a data model that has integrated vector and raster data structures. A special 3-D spatial data model based on distributing features of spatial entities should be designed. We took the geological exploration engineering as the research background and designed an integrated data model whose data structures integrats vector and raster data by adopting object-oriented technique. This article presents an overview of Arc_Mat, a Matlab-based spatial data analysis software package whose source code has
been placed in the public domain. An earlier version of the Arc_Mat toolbox was developed to extract map polygon and database
information from ESRI shapefiles and provide high quality mapping in the Matlab software environment. We discuss revisions
to the toolbox that: utilize enhanced computing and graphing capabilities of more recent versions of Matlab, restructure the
toolbox with object-oriented programming features, and provide more comprehensive functions for spatial data analysis. The
Arc_Mat toolbox functionality includes basic choropleth mapping; exploratory spatial data analysis that provides exploratory
views of spatial data through various graphs, for example, histogram, Moran scatterplot, three-dimensional scatterplot, density
distribution plot, and parallel coordinate plots; and more formal spatial data modeling that draws on the extensive Spatial
Econometrics Toolbox functions. A brief review of the design aspects of the revised Arc_Mat is described, and we provide some
illustrative examples that highlight representative uses of the toolbox. Finally, we discuss programming with and customizing
