A two-layer model for simulating landslide dam over mobile river beds   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

Landslides can block mountainous streams and form landslide dams to threaten downstream residents. It is necessary for reliable methods to predict landslide dam dynamic for risk assessment. In this paper, we present a two-layer model of Savage–Hutter type to simulate the dynamic evolution of landslide dam which take account of the erosion of river bed. The two-layer shallow water system is derived by depth-averaging the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with the hydrostatic assumption integrated of the erosion model of river bed. The effect of excess pore water pressure is considered in the erosion process. A high order accuracy scheme based on Roe-type solver is used to discretize the present model. Finally, several numerical tests are performed to verify the stability of the algorithm and reliability of the model. Numerical results indicate that the erosion effect enhances the huge destructiveness of landslide and increase the possibility of river blocked by landslides. The impact of excess pore water pressure on erosion process should be considered.  相似文献

Landslides are one of the most frequent and common natural hazards in many parts of Himalaya. To reduce the potential risk, the landslide susceptibility maps are one of the first and most important steps in the landslide hazard mitigation. Earth observation satellite and geographical information system-based techniques have been used to derive and analyse various geo-environmental parameters significant to landslide hazards. In this study, a bivariate statistics method was used for spatial modelling of landslide susceptibility zones. For this purpose, thematic layers including landslide inventory, geology, slope angle, slope aspect, geomorphology, slope morphology, drainage density, lineament and land use/land cover were used. A large number of landslide occurrences have been observed in the upper Tons river valley area of Western Himalaya. The result has been used to spatially classify the study area into zones of very high, high, moderate, low and very low landslide susceptibility zones. About 72% of active landslides have been observed to occur in very high and high hazard zones. The result of the analysis was verified using the landslide location data. The validation result shows significant agreement between the susceptibility map and landslide location. The result can be used to reduce landslide hazards by proper planning.  相似文献

Landslides are mainly triggered by earthquakes and rainfall and have poor temporal predictability. Landslides pose significant threats to settlements and infrastructure in mountainous regions around the world. To mitigate this natural hazard, a new paradigm of landslide mitigation and management is required. Increasing smartphone ownership around the world, especially in developing countries, offers scientists an opportunity to embrace crowdsourcing so as to improve landslide research. This paper presents a new landslide information system (LIS) comprising a smartphone app and an administrative interface and database. The mobile app has been published for both iPhone and Android platforms. The interface of the smartphone app is powered by the highly-customizable Google Maps platform, which is overlaid with real-time landslide data. Users can choose between visualizing “known sites” and “contribution” of landslide data. The visualization option shows published landslides and areas that are susceptible. Users can contribute their GPS coordinates and multimedia to enhance landslide reports. A comparison with similar systems, potential applications, and challenges of using smartphone technology for mitigating landslides are also discussed.  相似文献
