The IRAS and 2MASS associations for 206 HAEBE stars are identified in this paper. From the color-color diagrams and spectral index, it is found that the IR excesses for most samples are due to thermal emission from the circumstellar material. It is also found that the IR excesses at IRAS region for few HAEBE stars and the near-IR excesses for some HAEBE stars are likely attributed to free-free emission or free-bound emission from the circumstellar ionized gas. Moreover, the evolution scenario (from embedded HAEBE stars to β Pictoris-like main-sequence stars) from Malfait et al. (1998) has been checked, our result does not support this evolution scenario.This publication makes use of data products from the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS), which is a joint project of the University of Massachusetts and the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center, founded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation of the United States.  相似文献

We have measured polarization of the 1.1 mm and 0.8 mm continuum emission for 3 pre-T Tauri stars and 2 T Tauri stars. Positive detections were made for NGC 1333 IRAS 4 and IRAS 16293-2422, while L1551 IRS 5 and HL Tau were only marginally detected. For GG Tau we measured a 2 upper limit of 3%. The polarization is interpreted in terms of thermal emission by magnetically aligned dust grains in circumstellar disks or envelopes. We have found a definite geometrical relation between the polarization and other circumstellar structure.  相似文献

We have compiled infrared photometric data from the literature of practically all T Tauri stars found up to date including 444 classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs), 1698 weak-line T Tauri stars (WTTSs) and 1258 not classified T Tauri stars (3400 in total) in addition to 196 post-T Tauri stars (PTTSs). From this data bank we extract the infrared characteristics of the different groups and discuss different origins of the infrared radiation. The observational data are taken from the AKARI, IRAS, WISE and 2MASS missions. We show that in the wavelength range 1–140 μm, all T Tauri stars have infrared excesses. CTTSs have more infrared excess than WTTSs, while PTTSs have little or no infrared excess. We found that in the 1–3 μm wavelength range the infrared emission of T Tauri stars is mainly due to thermal radiation from the photosphere and hot dust grains from circumstellar envelopes. In the 3–140 μm wavelength range the infrared emission of T Tauri stars is mainly due to radiation from dusty/gaseous disks surrounding the stars. In addition, we also make a comparison between T Tauri stars and Herbig AeBe stars (HAeBe). There are some differences between these two kinds of objects in that for HAeBe stars the infrared radiation as a rule originates in dusty/gaseous disks in the 1–3 μm wavelength range, while in the range 3–12 μm it is possibly due to PAH emission for about half of HAeBe stars. In other wavelength ranges both kinds of stars have similar infrared characteristics indicating emission from dusty/gaseous disks.  相似文献

A detailed study was performed for a sample of low-mass pre-main-sequence (PMS) stars, previously identified as weak-line T Tauri stars, which are compared to members of the Tucanae and Horologium Associations. Aiming to verify if there is any pattern of abundances when comparing the young stars at different phases, we selected objects in the range from 1 to 100 Myr, which covers most of PMS evolution. High-resolution optical spectra were acquired at European Southern Observatory and Observatório do Pico dos Dias . The stellar fundamental parameters effective temperature and gravity were calculated by excitation and ionization equilibria of iron absorption lines. Chemical abundances were obtained via equivalent width calculations and spectral synthesis for 44 per cent of the sample, which shows metallicities within 0.5 dex solar. A classification was developed based on equivalent width of Li  i 6708 Å and Hα lines and spectral types of the studied stars. This classification allowed a separation of the sample into categories that correspond to different evolutive stages in the PMS. The position of these stars in the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram was also inspected in order to estimate their ages and masses. Among the studied objects, it was verified that our sample actually contains seven weak-line T Tauri stars, three are Classical T Tauri, 12 are Fe/Ge PMS stars and 21 are post-T Tauri or young main-sequence stars. An estimation of circumstellar luminosity was obtained using a disc model to reproduce the observed spectral energy distribution. Most of the stars show low levels of circumstellar emission, corresponding to less than 30 per cent of the total emission.  相似文献

The infrared properties of barium stars are studied using published data in the K band and from IRAS . At 12 and 25 μm the emission from barium stars shows no excess over photospheric emission. Thus the claim made by Hakkila that some barium stars show evidence of the presence of warm (∼300  K ) circumstellar material is not supported. The 60-μm properties of barium stars are studied using survival analysis methods, and it is found that very few (3.7 ± 2.6 per cent) barium stars exhibit far-infrared excesses. Furthermore, it is found that the incidence of excess emission at 60 μm is lower in barium stars than for normal G and K giants. This may indicate that the mass-transfer event that is assumed to have taken place in barium stars has removed any cool circumstellar material that may have existed in these systems. Alternatively, it is suggested that the incidence of infrared excesses in normal G and K giants may have been over-estimated as a result of not fully accounting for foreground contamination by interstellar cirrus.  相似文献

The relationships among traditional wind and disk diagnostics - Hα and [OI]λ6300 lines and IR luminosity excesses, respectively - and star parameters are critically analysed. The total sample includes 109 PMS stars - 20 Weak-line T Tauri (WTTS), 45 Classical T Tauri (CTTS) and 44 HAeBe stars-. Our results suggest that Hα is neither a wind nor an accretion tracer. Hα and [OI] emissions seem to correlate very well with the photospheric luminosity and not with ΔLIR/Lph, a parameter related to the origin of the IR excesses. IRAS data on 13 normal and 4 shell A stars are analyzed to detect circumstellar matter around them. Most of the stars rotate rapidly; five of them have been studied before. By comparing the observed fluxes, IUE and ground-based, with Kurucz’s models in the 0.17-0.9 µm range, the stars’ parameters were determined ( $$T_{\hbox{\ \hbox{$\mid$}\kern -1em\lower .5em \hbox{$\leftarrow$}}} g_{\hbox{\ \hbox{$\mid$}\kern -1em\lower .5em \hbox{$\leftarrow$}}} $$ , and angular diameter), which were used to find the IR flux excesses over the photospheric emission. Infrared excesses were found in 15 of the stars. The excesses themselves are interpreted as thermal emission from dust particles with an effective temperature in the range from 70 to 200 K. The effective radius of the circumstellar disk is estimated to be from 7 to 400 R*,  相似文献

We present results of near infrared observation of 21 molecular outflow sources and two non-outflow sources with compact cores. Combined with IRAS and other surface station observations we analyse their spectra and find that the outflow sources have, on average, steeper spectral gradients than the non-outflow sources in the range 2.28–25 μ. Most of the bipolar outflow sources have gradients greater than 2.0. Using a revised blackbody photosphere model we calculate the contributions to the JHK fluxes by the central young star and the circumstellar envelope. For the sources with known bolometric luminosity we derive the photospheric temperature of the central star and the circumstellar extinction. Results show that most of the young stars associated with molecular outflows are probably T Tauri stars (5000–7000 K) or emission line stars (9000–26000 K). The circumstellar extinction in JHK is around 10 to 20 magnitudes. These facts show that molecular outflow sources are young objects still embedded deep inside or around the interior of compact cores. Fitting the 3.5– 25 μ and 60–100 μ spectra with a λ-1 dust emission model to five source gives a negative power law for the temperature profile of the circumstellar shell with exponents between 0.39 and 0.48, close to the theoretical results for molecular clouds associated with HI I regions.  相似文献

We analyse the differences in infrared circumstellar dust emission between oxygen-rich Mira and non-Mira stars, and find that they are statistically significant. In particular, we find that these stars segregate in the K–[12] versus [12]–[25] colour–colour diagram, and have distinct properties of the IRAS LRS spectra, including the peak position of the silicate emission feature. We show that the infrared emission from the majority of non-Mira stars cannot be explained within the context of standard steady-state outflow models.
The models can be altered to fit the data for non-Mira stars by postulating non-standard optical properties for silicate grains, or by assuming that the dust temperature at the inner envelope radius is significantly lower (300–400 K) than typical silicate grain condensation temperatures (800–1000 K) . We argue that the latter is more probable and provide detailed model fits to the IRAS LRS spectra for 342 stars. These fits imply that two-thirds of non-Mira stars and one-third of Mira stars do not have hot dust (>500 K) in their envelopes.
The absence of hot dust can be interpreted as a recent (∼100 yr) decrease in the mass-loss rate. The distribution of best-fitting model parameters agrees with this interpretation and strongly suggests that the mass loss resumes on similar time-scales. Such a possibility appears to be supported by a number of spatially resolved observations (e.g. recent Hubble Space Telescope images of the multiple shells in the Egg Nebula) and is consistent with new dynamical models for mass loss on the asymptotic giant branch.  相似文献

Photometric observations at optical and near-infrared wavelengths are presented for members of a new sample of candidate Vega-like systems, or main sequence stars with excess infrared emission due to circumstellar dust. The observations are combined with IRAS fluxes to define the spectral energy distributions of the sources. Most of the sources show only photospheric emission at near-IR wavelengths, indicating a lack of hot (∼1000 K) dust. Mid-infrared spectra are presented for four sources from the sample. One of them, HD 150193, shows strong silicate emission, while another, HD 176363, was not detected. The spectra of two stars from our previous sample of Vega-like sources both show UIR-band emission, attributed to hydrocarbon materials. Detailed comparisons of the optical and IRAS positions suggest that in some cases the IRAS source is not physically associated with the visible star. Alternative associations are suggested for several of these sources. Fractional excess luminosities are derived from the observed spectral energy distributions. The values found are comparable to those measured previously for other Vega-like sources.  相似文献

IRAS low-resolution spectra are presented for 36 HAEBE stars. It is found that silicate dust is common material in the circumstellar disks or/and shells of HAEBE stars. It is also found that the PAH feature often appears as well. In addition, the correlation between the dust features and spectral type, and infrared excesses can be found for most HAEBE stars. Extended emission components are clearly found in the IRAS scan data of optically visible oxygen-rich AGB stars which show no 10µm silicate band feature in the IRAS LRS spectra but a strong infrared excess in the IRAS photometric data. It is most likely that these stars really have their circumstellar dust envelopes, which are detached from the central stars, indicating a halting of mass loss for a significant period.  相似文献

Star-forming regions have been observed in X-rays since the first generation of satellites in the late 70s. They are very rich in magnetically-controlled X-ray phenomena: stellar flares and star-disk interactions in hundreds of T Tauri stars, confined winds in massive stars, etc. More recently, in a few low-mass stars, X-ray evidence has been found for accretion shocks. Even if it is not dominant, when it is found the influence of the circumstellar environment on X-ray emission gives precious clues on the magnetic structure in the vicinity of young stars. We present spectropolarimetric observations, obtained at H α , of the Herbig Ae star AB Aurigae. Changes in linear polarization across the H α line probe structure in the immediate circumstellar environment of the central star, down to scales of the order of one to a few stellar radii. In the case of AB Aurigae the observed polarimetric signature is complex. After applying a correction for foreground continuum polarization, we find that there is a linear-polarized H α emission component intrinsic to the source. Rotation of the angle of polarization through the emission-line profile suggests scattering in a rotating circumstellar disc. The magnetic accretor model commonly applied to T Tauri stars shows promise of explaining these data.  相似文献

Preliminary results are presented of observations of the pure rotational lines of H2 toward T Tauri and Herbig Ae stars using the Short Wavelength Spectrometer (SWS) on the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). The sources are selected to be isolated low- and intermediate-mass young stellar objects, for which the presence of a circumstellar disk has been established by millimeter interferometry. The lowest H2 S(0) and S(1) lines are detected in 3 out of 5 objects. The measured intensities indicate ∼ 0.01 M⊙ of warm (T ≈ 150 K) gas in the ISO beam. It is argued that for at least one case (HD 163296), the emission is probably dominated by the warm gas in the circumstellar disk rather than by shocked- or photon-heated gas in the surrounding envelope. Such observations can provide important constraints on the radial and vertical temperature profiles in circumstellar disks. The Nobeyama Millimeter Array Survey for protoplanetary disks has been made for 19 protostellar IRAS sources in Taurus; 13 of them were optically invisible protostars and 6 were young T Tauri stars. We observed 98-GHz continuum and CS(J = 2 – 1) line emissions simultaneously with spatial resolutions of 2 . 8-8 . 8 (360-1,200 AU). The continuum emission was detected from 5 out of 6 T Tauri stars and 2 out of 13 protostar candidates: the emission was not spatially resolved and was consistent with being originated from compact circumstellar disks. Extended CS emission was detected around 2 T Tauri stars and 11 protostar candidates. There is a remarkable tendency for the detectability of the 98-GHz continuum emission to be small for protostar candidates. This tendency is explained if the mass of protoplanetary disks around protostars is not as large as that around T Tauri stars; the disk mass may increase with the increase of central stellar mass by dynamical accretion in the course of evolution from protostars to T Tauri stars.Paper presented at the Conference onPlanetary Systems: Formation, Evolution, and Detection held 7–10 December, 1992 at CalTech, Pasadena, California, U.S.A.  相似文献

We report on the discovery of over 50 strong Hα emitting objects towards the large OB association Cyg OB2 and the H  ii region DR 15 on its southern periphery. This was achieved using the INT Photometric Hα Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS), combined with follow-up spectroscopy using the MMT multi-object spectrometer HectoSpec. We present optical spectra, supplemented with optical r ',  i ' and H α photometry from IPHAS, and near-infrared J ,  H and K photometry from Two Micron All Sky Survey. The position of the objects in the ( J − H ) versus ( H − K ) diagram strongly suggests most of them are young. Many show Ca  ii infrared triplet emission indicating that they are in a pre-main-sequence phase of evolution of T Tauri and Herbig Ae nature. Among these, we have uncovered pronounced clustering of T Tauri stars roughly a degree south of the centre of Cyg OB2, in an arc close to the H  ii region DR 15, and the radio ring nebula G79.29+0.46, for which we discuss its candidacy as a luminous blue variable. The emission-line objects towards Cyg OB2 itself could be the brightest most prominent component of a population of lower mass pre-main-sequence stars that has yet to be uncovered. Finally, we discuss the nature of the ongoing star formation in Cyg OB2 and the possibility that the central OB stars have triggered star formation in the periphery.  相似文献
