In order to reduce the size of problems involving analysis of the dynamic response of structural systems, a transformatio based on appropriately selected Ritz shapes is commonly employed. The lower mode shapes may at times serve a effective Ritz shapes. However, the computation of mode shapes is a time consuming task; in addition, the mode shapes may not form the best basis for representing the spatial distribution of loads. The recently developed load dependent vectors, which are derived from a static solution for the applied loads, address some of the problems inherent in the use of mode shapes. However, both the natural mode shapes and the load dependent vectors fail to account for the frequency content of the loading, a parameter that may influence strongly the response, particularly for loading with a high frequency content. A procedure is presented here for the generation of frequency dependent vectors. A combination of load dependent and frequency dependent vectors will often form a very efficient basis for the representation of the response, as illustrated by several examples presented here.  相似文献

Conceptual study of lunar-based SAR for global change monitoring   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
As an active microwave remote sensing imaging sensor, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) plays an important role in earth observation. Here we establish a SAR system based on the platform of the moon. This will aid large-scale, constant, and long-term dynamic Earth observations to better meet the needs of global change research and to complement the space borne and airborne earth observations. Lunar-based SAR systems have the characteristics of high resolution and wide swath width. The swath width could be thousands of kilometers in the stripe mode and it could cover 40% of earth’s surface with 10 meters or even higher spatial resolution in the scanning mode. Using the simplified observation model, here we quantitatively analyze the spatial resolution and coverage area of lunar-based SAR and simulate the observation on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau and the Amazon plain. The results show that this system could provide near 100% daily coverage of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, whereas 40% to 70% daily coverage of the Amazon plain. Lunar-based SAR could provide large-scale, long-term and stable time series data in order to support future research of global change.  相似文献

梯级筑坝对黑河水质时空分布特征的影响   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
为探究梯级大坝建设对河流水质变化规律的影响,将黑河上中游划分为坝上河段、坝下河段及自然河段,于2017年12月-2018年8月选取了24个主要控制断面进行水质调查,并采用多元统计的方法对比分析了不同时空尺度上的水质分布特征.结果表明:黑河上中游水质时空变化的主要影响因子为水温(WT)、pH值、溶解氧(DO)、电导率(EC)、总氮(TN)、总磷(TP)和五日生化需氧量(BOD_5).空间尺度上,WT、EC、BOD_5、高锰酸盐指数(CODMn)、TN等指标具有显著性差异,其中坝上河段受BOD_5、CODMn影响较大,自然河段WT、EC和TN为关键指标,而各个因子对坝下河段水质影响较小.时间尺度上,WT、EC、BOD_5、氨氮与季节变化存在明显相关性,是不同河段水质时间变化的控制因子,且大多数水质因子在非汛期变化最明显.降水、温度、水文条件等季节性影响因素和梯级水库联合运用模式是该区域水质时间差异的主要原因;空间差异主要受祁连、张掖地区外源性污染物排放以及筑坝环境下水动力条件改变而产生的沉积滞留效应和沿程累积效应影响.研究表明,外源性污染源依然是导致水质变差的主要因素,梯级筑坝则是导致水质变差的间接因素.因此控制该区域人类活动所造成的外源性污染源,并针对不同种类污染物的季节变化特征实施合理的水库运行方式是改善水电梯级开发河段水质状况的关键.  相似文献

A nonparametric density estimate that incorporates spatial dependency has not been studied in the literature. In this article, we propose a new spatial density estimator that depends on two kernels: one controls the distance between observations while the other controls the spatial dependence structure. The uniform almost sure convergence of the density estimate is established with the rate of convergence. The consistency of the mode of this kernel density is also studied. Then a spatial hierarchical unsupervised clustering algorithm based on the mode estimate is presented. Some simulations as well as an application to the Monsoon Asia Drought Atlas data illustrate the efficiency of our algorithm, and a comparison of the spatial structures of these data detected by the density estimate and clustering algorithm are done.  相似文献

Data requirements for assessing the significance of the soil vapor intrusion pathway are evolving, and the collection and interpretation of subslab and near-slab soil-gas samples are under discussion. The potential for different assessment paradigms for aerobically biodegradable and recalcitrant chemicals is also frequently debated. In this work, the soil-gas distribution beneath and around a slab-on-grade building overlying shallow (0.5 to >1.5 m below ground surface) petroleum hydrocarbon–impacted coarse alluvial soils was studied. The study spanned about 12 months, including the sampling of soil-gas hydrocarbon and oxygen concentrations, subslab soil vs. building pressure differentials and included weather conditions. Three-dimensional soil-gas concentration "snapshots" using samples from 79 soil-gas sampling points are presented here. Significant spatial variability was observed with hydrocarbon and oxygen concentrations ranging from about <0.01 to 200 mg/L and 0 to 21% v/v, respectively. The presence of oxygen and the depth to petroleum-impacted soils appeared to be the dominant factors in controlling the soil-gas distribution; the depletion of hydrocarbons over short lateral and vertical distances (<2 m) was observed in the well-oxygenated regions. Composition data suggest preferential biodegradation of lighter compounds at some points, as reflected in the ratio of the masses of chemicals eluting on the gas chromatography between methane and pentane (C1 and C5) and all others after pentane (>C5).  相似文献

Attention is focused here on the quasilinear and nonlinear physics of cyclotron interactions between magnetospheric whistler mode waves and energetic electrons on dipolar geomagnetic flux tubes. These interactions can lead to the generation of noise-like emissions or phase-coherent discrete signals in the frequency-time domain. In the magnetosphere noise-like emissions called hiss are accompanied by a smooth electron precipitation pattern. Examples of discrete emissions are ELF/VLF chorus or VLF emissions triggered by whistlers from lightning or by radio transmitters on the ground. The rapid temporal variations of these signals are associated with fine structure of the distribution function of the radiation belt electrons, such as a transient step-like deformation or a well-organized beam, which are prepared by initial noise-like emissions or by a quasimonochromatic whistler–wave packet, respectively. These cause the properties of the electrons, which may be observed on a satellite, to evolve rapidly in time and on relatively short spatial scales. Bursts of precipitating electrons occur, and can contribute significantly to depleting the radiation belts. Recent results on improvements in the theoretical understanding of such processes and on new observations of magnetospheric electrons and whistler-mode waves are presented.  相似文献

Boundary conditions are required to close the mathematical formulation of unstable density‐dependent flow systems. Proper implementation of boundary conditions, for both flow and transport equations, in numerical simulation are critical. In this paper, numerical simulations using the FEFLOW model are employed to study the influence of the different boundary conditions for unstable density‐dependent flow systems. A similar set up to the Elder problem is studied. It is well known that the numerical simulation results of the standard Elder problem are strongly dependent on spatial discretization. This work shows that for the cases where a solute mass flux boundary condition is employed instead of a specified concentration boundary condition at the solute source, the numerical simulation results do not vary between different convective solution modes (i.e., plume configurations) due to the spatial discretization. Also, the influence of various boundary condition types for nonsource boundaries was studied. It is shown that in addition to other factors such as spatial and temporal discretization, the forms of the solute transport equation such as divergent and convective forms as well as the type of boundary condition employed in the nonsource boundary conditions influence the convective solution mode in coarser meshes. On basis of the numerical experiments performed here, higher sensitivities regarding the numerical solution stability are observed for the Adams‐Bashford/Backward Trapezoidal time integration approach in comparison to the Euler‐Backward/Euler‐Forward time marching approach. The results of this study emphasize the significant consequences of boundary condition choice in the numerical modeling of unstable density‐dependent flow.  相似文献

An examination was made into the spatial pattern of time-averaged streamwise velocity in the near-bed region over two water-worked gravel beds. Laboratory observations revealed that there is considerable spatial variability in velocity. It was organised into streamwise streaks of high-speed fluid which were overlain by spots of low-speed fluid. This spatial pattern was found to be consistently and heavily dependent on relative submergence. The spatial pattern of velocity was shown to have little linear coherence with bed surface topography at the grain-scale. It suggested that for flows above the two beds studied here, bed surface topography at the grain-scale exerted less of an influence on the spatial organisation of time-averaged streamwise velocities than relative submergence.  相似文献

A probabilistic method of calculating the occurrence of oxygen-depleted water within a combined hydrothermal and water quality model was presented in this paper to investigate the environmental impact of eutrophication on the living resources. The method was applied to an eutrophicated shallow coastal bay in western Japan, where the occurrence of red tides at the water surface and the onset of bottom hypoxic waters are observed every summer. Both meteorology and freshwater inflow contribute to the development of stratification of the bay, thus limiting the dissolved oxygen supply to bottom waters. The resulting hydrodynamics enhances the development of oxygen-depleted bottom waters by transporting organic matter produced by algal blooms to the inner bay, where it decomposes and exerts high SOD. During August, about 60% of the inner bay is hypoxic for prolonged durations and as a result most of the benthic biota and fish die. The method used here is a very useful and informative way to evaluate the spatial and temporal damage and severity caused by hypoxia on living resources. Moreover, the model results agreed very well with the observed hydrodynamics, thermal structure and water quality data of the stratified bay. The model can be used for other lakes and bays where knowledge of temperature and density stratification is important for assessing water quality.  相似文献

利用1900-2000年国际参考地磁场模型(IGRF),对地球主磁场的空间结构和长期变化进行了自然正交分量分析,得到了组成地磁场的主要成分(本征模)及其随时间的长期变化(SV).第一本征模描述主磁场稳定结构的总体特征,其强度随时间单调减小;第二本征模主要描述印度洋和南大西洋地区正异常特征,其强度也随时间单调变化;第三本征模对应于加勒比地区正异常,其强度呈100a周期的变化,目前正处于下降阶段;第四本征模的主要特点是北美正异常和南亚负异常,其强度呈80a周期的变化;第五本征模对应尺度较小的局部磁异常,其强度的变化周期约60a;第六及其以后的本征模则对应空间尺度更小和时间变化更快的磁异常.分析表明,太平洋地区的磁场经历着缓慢的单调减小变化,其结构比较稳定,几乎完全包括在第一本征模中.但是,印度洋磁场结构较复杂,它是由空间结构不同和变化周期各异的多个本征模组成的.大西洋的北部、中部和南部分属不同本征模,它们有完全不同的时间变化特性.  相似文献

We investigate the impact of injection mode (flux and resident injection) and heterogeneity in hydraulic properties on dispersion of advecting particles in two-dimensional discrete fracture network models, using a Monte Carlo method. We find that the injection mode has a significant effect on dispersion: The resident injection mode exhibits anomalous features of transport whereas the flux injection mode tends to Gaussian transport; this observation is easily understood by considering phase diagrams where a limited number of particles entering low velocity fractures greatly increase macrodispersion. In spite of a sizeable portion of negative longitudinal velocities, it is shown that multiple crossings are negligible when quantifying longitudinal macrodispersion. A simple probabilistic expression of particle mass balance is shown to predict well the spatial distribution of advecting particles.  相似文献

焦岗湖是淮河左岸一个天然湖泊,集防洪、灌溉、养殖、旅游等多种功能于一体.利用焦岗湖4个季节水质监测数据,运用Kriging方法,分析焦岗湖水质参数的时空变化及影响因素.结果表明:由于受水文季节变化过程及人类活动等综合影响,焦岗湖水质参数在时间及空间上均存在一定差异.从时间变化来看,夏季透明度较低、秋季较高;溶解氧浓度在春、冬季显著高于夏、秋季;总氮、总磷浓度与高锰酸盐指数均表现为夏季最高、秋季最低.从空间变化来看,4个季节的透明度空间差异较为显著;溶解氧浓度在春、冬季空间分布较为均匀,夏季呈现中心高周围低的变化趋势,秋季则表现为西高东低;总磷浓度春季分布较为均匀,夏、秋及冬季则呈西高东低之势;高锰酸盐指数在春、秋季节呈现东高西低之势,夏季高浓度主要集中在湖区北部,冬季浓度变化不大.  相似文献

We report here on recent developments and advances in pore-scale X-ray tomographic imaging of subsurface porous media. Our particular focus is on immiscible multi-phase fluid flow, i.e., the displacement of one immiscible fluid by another inside a porous material, which is of central importance to many natural and engineered processes. Multiphase flow and displacement can pose a rather difficult problem, both because the underlying physics is complex, and also because standard laboratory investigation reveals little about the mechanisms that control micro-scale processes. X-ray microtomographic imaging is a non-destructive technique for quantifying these processes in three dimensions within individual pores, and as we report here, with rapidly increasing spatial and temporal resolution.  相似文献

Faulting in a medium with an inhomogeneity is analysed applying two-dimensional models consisting of a shear crack in a presence of a circular inclusion. The stress drop and the stress intensity factor are calculated for mode II and III cracks of various positions in relation to the inclusion. The results demonstrate that the effect of an inhomogeneity on a shear zone strongly depends on the location of a zone for either mode II or mode III shear zone. This effect is mostly due to the spatial distribution of external effective shear stress around an inhomogeneity. Depending on the position, an inhomogeneity may have either a destabilizing effect (the stress intensity factor becomes greater) or a stabilizing influence (the stress intensity factor is decreased or faulting is prohibited so the inhomogeneity acts as an asperity or a barrier). There is a substantial difference, however, between mode II and mode III shear zones approaching an inhomogeneity centrally. Namely, the effect of inhomogeneity on the mode III shear zone located in the immediate vicinity of the inhomogeneity is in this case considerably more pronounced than that for mode II shear zone and depends to a far greater extent on the rigidity contrast between the inhomogeneity and the surrounding medium. Another important conclusion is that the quantitative effect of an inhomogeneity on faulting depends essentially on the initial value of the stress drop of a shear zone approaching an inhomogeneity, being decidedly higher for a shear zone of small stress drop. It means that in specified areas in the proximity of medium inhomogeneities one should expect substantially greater faulting activity in which weak events prevail than in other regions surrounding inhomogeneities where such activity should be distinctly reduced. Such conclusions apply to both high rigidity inhomogeneities, which, in particular, may be associated with intrusions from the upper mantle, and to low rigidity inhomogeneities such as volcanos. The present model sets forth the plausible explanation regarding why earthquakes from the same region are occasionally characterized by various values of the stress drop. The model also presents the quantitative insight concerning how heterogeneity of the medium, in the sense of spatial variation of elastic constants, affects faulting.  相似文献

On the physics of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) is a pronounced signal of climate variability in the North Atlantic sea-surface temperature field. In this paper, we propose an explanation of the physical processes responsible for the timescale and the spatial pattern of the AMO. Our approach involves the analysis of solutions of a hierarchy of models. In the lowest member of the model hierarchy, which is an ocean-only model for flow in an idealized basin, the variability shows up as a multidecadal oscillatory mode which is able to destabilize the mean thermohaline circulation. In the highest member of the model hierarchy, which is the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory R30 climate model, multidecadal variability is found as a dominant statistical mode of variability. The connection between both results is established by tracing the spatial and temporal expression of the multidecadal mode through the model hierarchy while monitoring changes in specific quantities (mechanistic indicators) associated with its physics. The proposed explanation of the properties of the AMO is eventually based on the changes in the spatial patterns of variability through the model hierarchy.Responsible Editor: Tal Ezer  相似文献
