The paper describes experimental tests carried out on three ring-stiffened cones that were tested to destruction under external hydrostatic pressure. The cones were carefully machined from EN1A Steel. All three cones failed by plastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling in a mode commonly known as general instability. In this mode the entire ring-shell combination buckles bodily.The paper also provides a design chart using the results obtained from these three vessels, together with the results of six other vessels obtained from other tests. The design chart allows the possibility of obtaining a plastic knock down factor, so that the theoretical buckling pressures, based on elastic theory, can be divided by the plastic knockdown factor, to give the predicted buckling pressure. This method can also be used for the design of full-scale vessels.  相似文献

The paper presents an experimental study on six circular corrugated cylinders which were tested to destruction under external hydrostatic pressure. The results obtained from these vessels, together with the results obtained from elsewhere, were used to provide a design chart. This paper reports on experimental work carried out on nine thin-walled circular cylinders which were tested to destruction under external hydrostatic pressure. Seven of the cylinders failed through non-symmetric bifurcation buckling and two failed through axisymmetric collapse. The results were used from these tests, together with the results from other experiments, to produce a design chart which could be used for designing against the occurence of elastic and inelastic shell instability.  相似文献

The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental study into the collapse of three thick-walled circular conical shells, which were tested to failure under external hydrostatic pressure. All three vessels failed by plastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling. Two theoretical analyses were carried out, both based on the finite element method. One of the theoretical analyses was based on inelastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling and the other analysis was based on plastic axisymmetric buckling. Both of these theoretical analysis and the experimental observations appeared to indicate that there is a link between plastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling and plastic axisymmetric buckling.  相似文献

Thin walled cylinders under external pressure may be affected by instability phenomena particularly dangerous when taking place in the elastic domain. Geometric imperfections caused by fabrication processes heavily influence the critical pressure. In order to investigate the relationship between the collapse mechanism and the various types of imperfections affecting this kind of structures a series of experimental tests on scale models has been carried out. The dimensional parameters of the specimens have been selected in order to keep the instability phenomenon in the elastic range. At the same time numerical calculations simulating the experimental tests have been performed by finite element method. The geometrical defects measured on the specimens were introduced in the correspondent numerical models. A good agreement was found in the comparison between experimental and numerical results.  相似文献

Corrugated stainless steel membranes have been used as the primary barriers for LNG carriers to reduce thermal stresses at cryogenic temperatures. As the capacity of the LNG cargo is increased, however, the corrugated stainless steel membranes suffer from buckling and collapse due to increased sloshing loads in large-capacity LNG cargo carriers. In this study, the pressure resistance of the corrugated part of the stainless steel membrane was evaluated using a finite element method for better design of the LNG containment system, and an experimental equipment was developed and the pressure resistance of the stainless steel corrugations was measured and compared with the calculated results. In addition, a new membrane with high-pressure resistance and its reinforcing method were developed and evaluated experimentally.  相似文献

The paper presents a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the buckling of seven oblate hemi-ellipsoidal dome shells under external hydrostatic pressure. Four of the shells were made in glass reinforced plastic and three were made from a thermosetting plastic called solid urethane plastic. All the vessels were tested to destruction. The theoretical study was made with the aid of a non-linear finite element solution, where both geometrical and material non-linearity were allowed for. Good agreement was found between experiment and theory for all the vessels. The very oblate domes failed axisymmetrically. Theoretical convergence was good for the more oblate domes but it was not as good as for the less oblate domes. This may have been because the less oblate domes did not fail in a classical axisymmetric manner as was expected. This work is of much importance in ocean engineering.  相似文献

为了探索不同径厚比海底管道的压溃屈曲特性,本文分别采用挪威船级社(Det Norske Veritas,DNV)规范、有限元模拟和深海压力舱模型试验,研究不同径厚比海底管道承载外部水压的能力,并就DNV规范压溃屈曲计算公式对不同径厚比管道的适用性进行了讨论,优化了小径厚比海底管道压溃屈曲的设计方法。研究表明:小径厚比管道的压溃屈曲临界压力对管道径厚比的变化更敏感;DNV规范计算小径厚比管道的压溃屈曲临界压力偏小,在进行深海管道的压溃屈曲设计时,建议采用模型试验结合有限元模拟的方法,计算管道实际可提供的压溃屈曲承载力。  相似文献

Running attitudes of semi-displacement vessels are significantly changed at high speed and thus have an effect on resistance performance and stability of the vessel. There have been many theoretical approaches about the prediction of running attitudes of high-speed vessels in calm water. Most of them proposed theoretical formulations for the prismatic hard-chine planing hull. In this paper, running attitudes of a semi-displacement round bilge vessel are theoretically predicted and verified by high-speed model tests. Previous calculation methods for hard-chine planing vessels are extended to be applied to semi-displacement round bilge vessels. Force and moment components acting on the vessel are estimated in the present iteration program. Hydrodynamic forces are calculated by ‘added mass planing theory’, and near-transom correction function is modified to be suitable to a semi-displacement vessel. Next, ‘plate pressure distribution method’ is proposed as a new hydrodynamic force calculation method. Theoretical pressure model of the 2-dimensional flat plate is distributed on the instantaneous waterplane corresponding to the attitude of the vessel, and hydrodynamic force and moment are estimated by integration of those pressures. Calculations by two methods show good agreements with experimental results.  相似文献

This paper uses theorem of shakedown to assess the shakedown limit of elastic–plastic offshore structures. For this aim, an envelope of elastic response of the structure to cyclic loading cases is required. The shakedown limit is basically a valid collapse mechanism and can be quantified using yield line analysis. In this work, Melan theorem of shakedown (lower bound) is employed. Requiring simple elastic envelope and the domain defining yield lines only are the advantages of the Melan theorem. The shakedown analysis can be conducted by the finite element method (FEM), which is the main body of this paper. In order to evaluate the method of this paper, which is in fact combining the Melan theorem and the FEM, two steel offshore frames are analyzed using the proposed method and the results obtained are compared with the results of classical non-linear analysis method.  相似文献

A theoretical and an experimental investigation was carried out, where a carbon fibre corrugated circular cylinder was tested to destuction under external hydrostatic pressure. The theoretical investigation was via the finite element method, where the structure was modelled with several orthotropic axisymmetric thin-walled shell elements. The experimental observations were aided with strategically placed strain gauges. Comparison between theory and experiment showed that the experimentally observed buckling pressure was a little lower than the theoretical prediction. This may have been due to the fact that the model had slight initial geometrical imperfections in the circumferenential direction.  相似文献

分析和验证了黄海沿岸部分长期验潮站M2分潮振幅的线性变化趋势及深度基准面L值增大趋势,发现了长周期分潮调和常数不稳定性对深度基准面确定的影响。研究表明,在剥离了深度基准面变化趋势后,由年观测数据分析结果确定的深度基准面可达到厘米级的精度水平,而由月分析结果确定的深度基准面存在周期性变化,其深度基准面不宜直接计算确定。论证了对潮汐调和常数附加历元信息的必要性和基本方案。通过研究得出对统一深度基准建立的指导性结论。  相似文献

通过物理模型实验,对水平简谐激励下弹性矩形液舱内液体晃荡问题进行了研究。实验中给出了不同液深和不同激励振幅下弹性液舱内液体最低阶固有频率。采用影像采集与分析系统获得液舱内自由液面的形状和高度,通过压力采集系统得到舱壁上的压力分布。实验中分析了不同液深、不同激励频率下弹性和刚性液舱内自由液面高度和晃荡压力的变化特性。比较了弹性和刚性液舱内不同位置处自由液面高度随外界激励频率的变化规律,以及舱壁上不同位置处的压力峰值随外界激励频率的变化规律。结果表明:非共振情况下,弹性和刚性实验结果及理论值三者的波高和压力较为接近。共振情况下,弹性和刚性波高基本相等,在近舱壁处二者明显大于理论值,而在远离舱壁处二者与理论值存在一定差别;弹性压力较刚性压力略小,但二者与理论值差别较大。  相似文献

A plastic ring-beam model simulating the longitudinal transition zone of submarine pipelines in the buckle propagation is presented. The nonlinear relationships between the buckle propagation pressure and the length of the transition zone and the position parameter of the longitudinal plastic hinge are derived using the energy principle. The related values are obtained by means of solving a set of nonlinear equations. The model conforms better to reality than the ring models for considering the effect of the longitudinal plastic bending of the transition zone. The computations for some stainless steel and aluminium tubes with different geometrical parameters are performed. The results obtained agree better with the experimental results than existing theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The finite element method based on linear diffraction theory proposed by Zienkiewicz and Bettess (1977) has been used to compute wave loads and moments about the bed of surface piercing cylinders of circular, square, rectangular and elliptical sections for different angles of wave incidence. On the basis of the results obtained, a design method is presented in the form of simple design charts for estimating wave forces and moments on large cylinders of arbitrary sections. The numerical solutions obtained have been checked for their validity by comparing with other theoretical solutions and experimental data. Further the application of the design method to a case study shows good correlation with experimental and other theoretical solutions.  相似文献

Initial stage of incompressible liquid impact onto a corrugated elastic panel with account for compressible gas trapping between the corrugations is studied. The liquid free surface is flat and parallel to the panel before impact. The impact velocity is constant in this study. The corrugations are modelled as identical rigid short structures on the surface of the flat panel. The panel is either of infinite or finite length. There are only two corrugations which are placed symmetrically on the panel. Only a part of the panel between these two corrugations is elastic. The liquid free surface closes the gas cavity between the two corrugations at the initial instant of impact and compresses the gas before the fluid comes in contact with the elastic part of the panel. The elastic deflections of the panel are caused by gas pressure in the cavity. The elastic deflections modify both the pressure in the cavity and the hydrodynamic pressure distribution along the wetted part of the panel. The hydroelastic problem is solved within the Wagner approach. The effect of gas compressibility on the elastic behaviour of the corrugated elastic panel is investigated. It is shown that the pressure in the gas cavity and elastic deflections grow beyond all bounds for the panel of infinite length and are finite if the panel is of finite length. The present model is relevant for the strength assessment of the cargo containment system (CCS) in the tanks of LNG carriers.  相似文献

Models based on the theoretical framework of soil mechanics are presented to evaluate storm wave-induced silty seabed instability and geo-hazards through a case study in the Yellow River delta. First, the transient and residual mechanisms of wave-induced pore pressure are analyzed. Three typical models (i.e., elastic model, pore pressure development mode and elasto-plastic model) are proposed to calculate wave-induced stresses in the seabed. Next, mechanisms and calculation methods of wave-induced seabed instability modes such as scour, liquefaction, seepage instability and shear slide are proposed. Typical results of storm wave-induced excess pore pressure and seabed instability are given and relevant discussions are made. At last, the formation mechanism of geo-hazards in the Yellow River delta is analyzed based on the proposed mechanism and calculated results. Results and analysis indicate that both transient and residual mechanisms are important to storm wave-induced response of silty seabed and hence the elasto-plastic model is more appropriate. Complete liquefaction does not happen, while other types of instability occur mostly within 2–6 m under the seabed surface. Wave-induced scour, seepage instability and shear slide are all possible instability modes under the 1-year storm waves, and scour is predominant for the 50-year storm waves. The formation mechanism of geo-hazards such as shallow slide and storm wave reactivation, pockmarks, silt flow and gully, disturbed stratum and hard crust in the Yellow River are well explained based on the proposed mechanisms and calculated results of storm wave-induced silty seabed instability.  相似文献

An experimental investigation was carried out in which four dome cup ends were tested to failure under external hydrostatic pressure. The collapse pressures of the dome cup ends were compared with that of a conventional dome cap end. The investigation revealed that the dome cup ends were structurally more efficient than the conventional dome cap ends. The failure of a ship hull girder is governed by buckling and plastic collapse of the deck, bottom and side shell steel stiffened plates. The stiffened steel plating in ships is generally subjected to both in-plane and out-of-plane loading and is more important to understand the characteristics of these panels under buckling. Tests are reported on the collapse load of stiffened plates with and without cutout and with reinforced cutout under uniaxial compression. A generalized computer program for the semi-analytical solutions proposed by various investigators based on strut approach and orthotropic plate approach, and a finite element analysis program based on orthotropic plate approach are developed. The panels are also analysed using the finite element analysis software ANSYS. An approximate method based on strut approach is proposed to calculate the collapse load of stiffened plates with cutouts and initial imperfections. The reduction in strength of the panels due to the presence of square cutout, rectangular cutout and increase in strength due to reinforcement around rectangular cutout are calculated based on the test results. Comparisons are made between the test results and predictions based on semi-analytical solutions and finite element analyses, and the uncertainty parameters calculated are discussed. Based on this study it is concluded that the cutout can be reinforced with a maximum increase in strength up to 19% for plate initiated failures.  相似文献

在我国南海东部油气田钻遇韩江组和珠江组的钻井过程中,常遇到泥页岩井壁坍塌问题,制约了钻井速度,造成了一定的经济损失。为此,分析了该地区泥页岩地层井壁失稳机理,通过试验确定了泥页岩吸水扩散系数,研究了泥页岩吸水对其抗压强度、弹性模量等力学参数的影响规律,根据Molar.Coulomb准则计算了泥页岩水化后井壁坍塌压力随井眼钻开时间的变化规律。这对解决该海域泥页岩地层井壁坍塌问题有较大的指导意义。  相似文献
