We observed in Ha the impulsive phase of a 1N/M2.0 limb flare on September 8, 1988 with high temporal resolution. With an imaging spectrograph line profiles have been acquired every 2.3 s. The temporal evolution in the blue and red wing has been correlated with hard X-ray data from HXRBS. It is shown that a prominent spike in the blue wing of H was delayed with respect to the corresponding hard X-ray burst by 7–8 s. With the exception of the spike in the blue wing of H, the temporal development of the line profile is compatible with the predictions for nonthermal electron heating during the impulsive phase.  相似文献

The H line profile in a flare atmospheric model superposed by a spatially correlated velocity field is studied in detail in this paper. The computations are carried out with the assumption that the velocity field is represented by a Kubo-Anderson process. It is found that the shape and the intensity of the H line profile depend greatly on the parameters of the velocity field. The variation of the profile and its relative deviation with respect to different correlation lengths is more complex than in the case of absorption lines. It is also shown that such a profile cannot be matched by those produced in the usually-used micro- and macro-turbulent approaches, especially for the velocity field with an intermediate correlation length. The results imply that the flare atmosphere should be highly turbulent in order to explain the observed H line profile with only weak central reversal in the flare spectra. Particularly, the effects of meso-turbulent fields should be taken into account in order to improve the spectral diagnostics and modelling of the flare atmosphere.  相似文献

Tanaka's (1977) unique H profiles of the kernels of the 7 August 1972 flare were quantitatively interpreted by Brown et al. (1978; henceforth BCR) in terms of a thick target electron beam model. They found that this interpretation required beam inhomogeneity and/or partial precipation and large (60–100 km s–1) macroturbulence. The latter requirement is somewhat suspect, since the only independent evidence also comes from efforts to understand the profiles of optically thick chromospheric lines. Relationships between model atmosphere parameters and line profile parameters calculated by Dinh (1980) show that these requirements could be considerably reduced, if not totally eliminated, if the actual chromospheric flare heating mechanism were simultaneously capable of pushing the flare transition region to greater column density and causing less heating of the residual chromosphere than the BCR models. This then implies that the chromosphere is heated primarily by a mechanism through which the heating effects do not penetrate as far below the flare transition region as is the case for a power-law spectrum of non-thermal electrons whose parameters are chosen appropriate to the nonthermal thick target interpretation of hard X-rays. Thermal conduction and optically thick radiation are examples of such a mechanism.  相似文献

We have obtained H emission line profiles from R Aquarii, a Mira variable surrounded by a complex nebulosity, using a very high-resolution Fabry-Pérot spectrometer. A new feature that was seen in our observations is the fact that the line profile shows a splitting which we interpret as due to two expanding shells surrounding the star with velocities of 5 km s–1 and 15 km s–1. The expansion velocities show an acceleration outwards due perhaps to the radiation pressure caused momentum transfer. Possible periodic variation of radial velocity derived from observations is discussed.  相似文献

We present a catalog including 11 204 spectra of 10 436 early-type emission-line stars from LAMOST DR2, among which 9752 early-type emission-line spectra are newly discovered. For these earlytype emission-line stars, we discuss the morphological and physical properties of their low-resolution spectra. In this spectral sample, the Hα emission profiles display a wide variety of shapes. Based on the Hα line profiles, these spectra are categorized into five distinct classes: single-peak emission, single-peak emission in absorption, double-peak emission, double-peak emission in absorption, and P-Cygni profiles. To better understand what causes the Hα line profiles, we divide these objects into four types from the perspective of physical classification, which include classical Be stars, Herbig Ae/Be stars, close binaries and spectra contaminated by H II regions. The majority of Herbig Ae/Be stars and classical Be stars are identified and separated using a(H-K, K-W1) color-color diagram. We also discuss 31 binary systems that are listed in the SIMBAD on-line catalog and identify 3600 spectra contaminated by H II regions after cross-matching with positions in the Dubout-Crillon catalog. A statistical analysis of line profiles versus classifications is then conducted in order to understand the distribution of Hα profiles for each type in our sample. Finally, we also provide a table of 172 spectra with Fe II emission lines and roughly calculate stellar wind velocities for seven spectra with P-Cygni profiles.  相似文献

In an active region, several points were observed to brighten progressively on the monochromatic image of H - 1.2 Å formed by the Domeless Solar Telescope installed recently at Hida Observatory. The phenomena were interpreted as small flares or subflares. The influence of the chromospheric condensation on H line profiles for the thermal model of a solar flare has been empirically studied in this paper. The so-called thermal model here means that there is no temperature increase relative to the quiet-Sun chromosphere but with a chromospheric condensation in the lower part of its transition region, which case is assumed to represent the early stage of the impulsive phase. The main results include: when the temperature within the condensation region is assumed to be equal to that in front of it, the influence is to create an additional absorption profile overlapping on the original one; by increasing the condensation strength, the H line profile changes from a little line-center increase to broadened red asymmetry, then to the reversed red asymmetry, and finally to two independent absorption profiles; the thickness of the condensation determines the absorption of the additional profile; descending the transition region has no obvious effect on the basic characteristic of the H line profile except a little increase in the line center. Assuming that the temperature within the condensation is higher than that ahead of the condensation, the calculated H line profiles may be strong enough to be comparable with the observations. We present the results of studying the impact linear polarization of 32 solar flares of X-ray classes C, M, and X (two flares) observed with the Large Solar Vacuum Telescope. It has turned out that there is evidence for impact polarization only in 13 of them. The newly obtained data have confirmed that the linear Stokes parameters are predominantly 2–7%, while the spatial sizes of flaring points with nonzero Stokes parameters are small (1″-2″). Two features of the manifestation of impact polarization in flares revealed by these studies are of greatest interest: (1) at the two foot points of a single flare loop or an arcade of loops, both the Hα intensity profiles and the Stokes profiles differ in behavior; (2) based on the Hα line, we have found for the first time that the sign of the Stokes parameters changes not only across the flare ribbon but also with depth of the chromosphere.  相似文献

The data such as the H-spectrum-spectroheliographic (SSHG) observations, the H-chromospheric observations, etc., of a flare loop prominence which occurred on the western solar limb on 1981 April 27 have been obtained at Yunnan Observatory. The distribution of the internal motions and the macroscopical motion of the flare loop prominence with time and space in the course of its eruption and ascension is derived from the comprehensive analysis of the data. The possible physical pictures and the instability of the motions of the loop are inferred and discussed.  相似文献

This paper is the third in our series of papers devoted to the investigation of X-ray emission from OB stars.In our two previous papers,we study the high-resolution X-ray spectra of 32 O stars and 25 B stars to investigate the correlations between the properties of X-ray emission and stellar parameters.We checked if the X-ray hardness and post-shock plasma temperature grow with increasing stellar magnetic field,mass loss rate and terminal wind velocity.Our previous analysis of high-resolution spectra showed that the correlations are weak or even absent.In the present paper,we analyzed low-resolution X-ray spectra,using model-independent X-ray hardness values for checking the above mentioned dependencies.We establish that X-ray luminosities L_X weakly depend on the stellar magnetic field.At the same time,Lx ∝ M~(0.5) and L_X ∝ E_(kin)~(0.5),where M is the mass loss rate and E_(kin) is the kinetic energy of the wind.The X-ray luminosities decrease with growing magnetic confinement parameter η.We also argue that there is an additional(probably non-thermal) component contributed to the stellar X-ray emission.  相似文献

The H observations of a limb flare, which were associated with exceptional gamma-ray and hard X-ray emission, are presented and discussed. The good spatial and temporal resolution of the H data allow us to investigate the detailed structure of the elevated flare loops and the intensity variations of the loops, footpoints and surrounding chromosphere during each phase of the flare event. A delay time of 12 s was found between at least one of the hard X-ray (28–485 keV) peaks and corresponding H intensity maximum at a loop footpoint. A comparison is made between this event and another well-observed limb flare with many similar characteristics to seek evidence for the large difference in their levels of energy release.  相似文献

The H analysis of the development of the strong impulsive and faint gradual phase of the June 26, 1983 flare indicates the following: (1) The flare originated from two microprominences on the southeast border of NOAA 4227. Several similar events are summarized in Table II. (2) The main flare structure was a flare cone, which consisted of a bright surge-like stream, elevated above two flare ribbons (located in the cone's base). The flare cone had a height of about 40 × 103 km and lasted 4 min in H. The upper part of the cone was terminated by a very fine loop, which was bent to the west, where later a chromospheric brightening occurred at the footpoint of a flaring arch. A 300 keV burst and radio spikes were observed during the maximum flare phase. (3) The flaring arch system, with its apex at a height of about 48 × 103 km, formed the skeleton for the coronal helmet structure (Figure 7(c)). The velocity of the plasma moving along the flaring arch was between 3500 km s–1} and 6900 km s–1} during the first brightening (14:07 UT).  相似文献

Kodaikanal H monochromatic and white-light observations are used to study the circular flare of 14 March, 1984. We report here the dynamic activity of the H filament, which attained a severe twist before erupting as a 4B flare. We feel that the relative motion between the emerging spot field and its neighbouring field is responsible for the field line reconnection, which triggered the flare.  相似文献

Under conditions pertaining to the middle chromosphere, the nlj-substates of the n = 2 and n = 3 states of hydrogen are found to be populated proportionally to their degree of degeneracy. Thus, the non-LTE formation of the H line is not expected to be influenced by some exotic excitation conditions in one of its seven components. The overpopulation of the 2S 1/2 substate relative to the 2P 3/2 substate does not depend upon details of the radiative transfer in H, so that it rests wholly on the transfer in L (Milkey and Mihalas, 1973). A flare event occurred which involved the disappearance of a filament near central meridian on 29 August 1973. The event was well observed in X-rays with the AS & E telescope on Skylab and in H at BBSO. It was a four-ribbon flare involving both new and old magnetic inversion lines which were roughly parallel. The H, X-ray, and magnetic field data are used to deduce the magnetic polarities of the H brightenings at the footpoints of the brightest X-ray loops. These magnetic structures and the preflare history of the region are then used to argue that the event involved a reconnection of magnetic field lines rather than a brightening in place of pre-existing loops. The simultaneity of the H brightening onsets in the four ribbons and the apparent lack of an eruption of the filament are consistent with this interpretation. These observations are compared to other studies of filament disappearances. The preflare structures and the alignment of the early X-ray flare loops with the H filament are consistent with the schematic picture of a filament presented first by Canfield et al. Investigations in the line Hα of the spectrum of UX Ori WW Vul are presented. Comparison with the data of other researchers has shown that the regime of variable matter ejection of the star WW Vul is retained for a long time. The spectra of two nights (July 18 and 23, 2006) showed an increased intensity of red emission component without noticeable change in the radial velocity. On the other hand, radial velocity of the central absorption considerably changed to negative values with decreasing V/R. During the night on July 8, 2006, we found doubling of the blue emission component for these two spectra.  相似文献

The width of the broad Hβ emission line is the primary defining characteristic of the NLS1 class. This parameter is also an important component of Boroson and Green’s optical “Eigenvector 1” (EV1), which links steeper soft X-ray spectra with narrower Hβ emission, stronger Hβ blue wing, stronger optical Fe II emission, and weaker [O III] λ5007. Potentially, EV1 represents a fundamental physical process linking the dynamics of fueling and outflow with the accretion rate. We attempted to understand these relationships by extending the optical spectra into the UV for a sample of 22 QSOs with high quality soft-X-ray spectra, and discovered a whole new set of UV relationships that suggest that high accretion rates are linked to dense gas and perhaps nuclear starbursts. While it has been argued that narrow (BLR) Hβ means low Black Hole mass in luminous NLS1s, the C IV λ1549 and Lyα emission lines are broader, perhaps the result of outflows driven by their high Eddington accretion rates. We present some new trends of optical-UV with X-ray spectral energy distributions. Steeper X-ray spectra appear associated with stronger UV relative to optical continua, but the presence of strong UV absorption lines is associated with depressed soft X-rays and redder optical–UV continua.  相似文献

H line profile observations of solar flares with high temporal resolution are an important tool for the analysis of the energy transport mechanism from the site of the flare energy release to the chromosphere. A specially designed instrument (imaging spectrograph) allows two-dimensional imaging of an active region simultaneously in 15 spectral channels along the H line profile with a temporal resolution of 5.4 s. Two flares have been observed in November 1982. The first one shows H signatures which one would typically expect in the case of explosive chromospheric evaporation produced by massive injection of non-thermal electrons. The observations of the other flare indicate that the heating of the upper chromosphere is dominated by thermal conduction, although during the impulsive hard X-ray burst there are also signatures of heating by non-thermal electrons.  相似文献

Two examples of sudden brightenings in local regions of active prominences as observed at the center of the H line are described. The origin of the brightenings is discussed in terms of Doppler shifts along the line of sight, Doppler brightenings and intrinsic changes of physical conditions.
