Analysing vertical and lateral distribution of minerals within an impact crater on lunar surface would aid in understanding the crustal compositions to a larger extent and provides clue about geological evolution of the Moon. The Chandrayaan-1 Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) data have high spectral and spatial resolutions, which help in identifying the mineral compositions and morphological features of impact crater. Here we analyse mineral compositions and their correlations with crater morphology using M3 and LROC satellite data of Eijkman impact cater in SouthPole Atiken (SPA) basin. The result shows that low-Ca pyroxene (LCP) dominant rocks are identified on Central Peak (CP), Crater Floor (CF), Crater Wall (CW) and Crater Rim (CR). An olivine dominant rock is detected on the CW. Fe-Mg-spinel lithological unit is observed on the CF. The results implicate that, (i) Low-Ca pyroxene minerals could be from the lower crust during SPA main event; (ii) Presence of olivine and Fe-Mg-spinel lithology on the surface could be a later stage mafic intrusions or the lower-crustal material exposed on the surface due to major impacts.  相似文献

Mantle-derived peridotite bodies of Ariège are composed of spinel lherzolites and harzburgites ranging from remarkably fresh (less than 5% serpentinized) samples with protogranular texture to secondary foliated samples, which are generally 10%–20% serpentinized. The foliated samples have passed through two cycles of deformation and re-crystallization, the earlier ones occurring at temperatures above 950° C for 15 kbar pressure, the later ones at temperatures between 950° and 750° C for 8–15 kbar. Microscopic investigation of 140 samples reveals an accessoy sulfide component which is more abundant in lherzolie than in harzburgite. This component occurs in two differet textural locations, either as inclusions trapped within silicates during the first stage of re-crystallization or as interstitial grains among silicates. Mineralogy and chemistry of both sulfide occurrences are quite similar, at least in samples less than 5% serpentinized. In these fresh samples, sulfides are composed of complex intergrowths between nickel-rich pentlandite and pyrite, coexisting with minor primary pyrrhotite (Fe7S8) and chalcopyrite. Pentlandite and pyrite are interpreted as low-temperature breakdown products of upper mantle monosulfide solid solutions. The mineralogy and chemistry of interstitial sulfides in serpentinized rocks vary in parallel with the degree of serpentinization. In samples less than 10% serpentinized, primary pyrrhotite grades into FeS. In samples more than 10% serpentinized, pyrite is replaced by secondary pyrrhotite, and then disappears totally, whereas the coexisting pentlandite is Fe-enriched and replaced by mackinawite. This sequence of alteration indicates a decrease of sulfur fugacity, resulting from serpentinization of olivine at temperatures below 300° C. This is also the case for the inclusions which have been fractured during the tectonic emplacement of the host peridotites within the crust. The presence of non-equilibrium sulfide assemblages in both cases reflects the sluggishness of solid state reactions at near-surface temperatures. It is inferred from these results that sulfides disseminated within orogenic peridotite massifs are so sensitive to serpentinization that most sulfur fugacity estimates based on fractured inclusions and intergranular sulfides are unreliable.  相似文献

The mollusc record from Lago d'Averno, central southern Italy, provides a detailed 1600‐yr record of changes in water quality in response to bradyseismic movements and salinity fluctuations. Bradyseismic vertical land movements and human impact in Roman times led to several transgressions from the Mediterranean Sea, 1 km distant, making the lake a valuable resource for documenting the effect of episodic marine transgressions of a freshwater lake. Low‐oxygen‐tolerant freshwater molluscs suggest that, at around 900–500 bc the lake had a slowly decreasing medium freshwater quality, resulting from contamination of volcanic origin. Disappearance of the obligate freshwater snails and transgression of low‐salinity‐tolerant marine species indicate that, after 500 bc, continuous subsidence resulted in episodic marine transgressions from the nearby sea. The construction of a canal that connected the lake with the sea, in 37 bc, is marked by a considerable increase in the number of shells and by arrival of brackish‐water‐intolerant marine species. Species diversity increased considerably when the area was partly depopulated towards the end of the Roman Empire around ad 400. When the land was slightly uplifted around ad 600–750, the water quality of the lake became less favourable for marine molluscs. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

以金川铜镍矿尾矿酸浸液为原料,根据矿物沉淀pH值区间的不同,分步分离Fe、Mg的沉淀物以及有价金属Al、Co、Ni、Cu的混合沉淀物,进而制备具有高附加值的Fe(OH)3和Mg(OH)2,同时富集Co、Ni、Cu等有价金属。结果表明,当溶液pH值为3.8时可沉淀分离出主要成分为施威特曼石(schwertmannite)的氢氧化铁前驱体,pH值达到9.8时沉淀富集出Al、Co、Ni、Cu的混合氢氧化物,随即得到只含有Mg离子的溶液。在60℃条件下,将施威特曼石在pH值为12的NaOH溶液中老化36h,可以得到Fe(OH)3。同时,以NaOH调节只含有Mg离子的溶液至pH值为12.4时可获得Mg(OH)2。本研究为金属矿山尾矿的资源化综合利用提供了新的思路与方法。  相似文献

 A synthesis technique is described which results in >99% pure NH4-phlogopite (NH4) (Mg3) [AlSi3O10] (OH)2 and its deuterium analogue ND4-phlogopite (ND4) (Mg3) [AlSi3O10] (OD)2. Both phases are characterised using both IR spectroscopy at 298 and 77 K as well as Rietveld refinement of their X-ray powder diffraction pattern. Both NH4 + and ND4 + are found to occupy the interlayer site in the phlogopite structure. Absorption bands in the IR caused by either NH4 + or ND4 + can be explained to a good approximation using Td symmetry as a basis. Rietveld refinement indicates that either phlogopite synthesis contains several mica polytypes. The principle polytype is the one-layer monoclinic polytype (1M), which possesses the space group symmetry C2/m. The next most common polytype is the two-layer polytype (2M 1 ) with space group symmetry C2/c. Minor amounts of the trigonal polytype 3T with the space group symmetry P3112 were found only in the synthesis run for the ND4-phlogopite. Electron microprobe analyses indicate that NH4-phlogopite deviates from the ideal phlogopite composition with respect to variable Si/Al and Mg/Al on both the tetrahedral and octahedral sites, respectively, due to the Tschermaks substitution VIMg2++IVSi4+VIAl3++IVAl3+ and with respect to vacancies on the interlayer site due to the exchange vector XII(NH4)++IVAl3+XII□+IVSi4+. The purpose of this investigation was to identify subsurface lineaments in Gafsa trough (onshore central Tunisia) after gravity data analysis. The Bouguer and residual gravity maps show a gravity values decrease from west to east associated with subsidence variation and confirmed by a regional seismic reflection profile. The deep structural map of the study area is elaborated after the application of two methods: (1) the automatic lineament tracing after horizontal gravity gradient and (2) 3D Euler method. The dominant trends show approximately NW–SE, E–W, and NE–SW directions. Some of these trends are well correlated with the major faults systems. We can qualify the deep structuration model as a mosaic of quadratic blocks bounded by significant deep flower fault corridors. The elaborated structural map of the study area constitutes also a useful document for rationalizing the future petroleum exploration in the Gafsa trough.  相似文献

A thermodynamic model for the Gibbs free energy of igneous pyroxenes with the general formula [Na, Ca, Fe2+, Mg]M2[Fe2+, Mg, Ti, Al, Fe3+]M1[Al, Fe3+, Si]TetSiO6 is calibrated from experimentally determined compositions of coexisting pyroxene and silicate melt. The model is based upon the general formulation, and relies upon the calibration of the “quadrilateral” subsystem, previously published by the present authors. The calibration database of pyroxene-liquid equilibria spans a broad spectrum of temperature, pressure and oxygen fugacity conditions, ranging from 1000°–1600°C, 0.001–30 kbar and iron-wüstite to air. Chemical potentials of endmember pyroxene components as well as exchange potentials between pyroxenes and coexisting liquids are defined utilizing the present authors' thermodynamic melt model. Model parameters are extracted from these relations by regression analysis. The resulting model and derivative endmember properties are internally consistent with an existing standard state thermodynamic database. The success of the model and its applicability to igneous petrogenesis are demonstrated by comparing calculated and experimentally determined liquidus compositions, temperatures and symmetry states for pyroxenes crystallizing from a variety of silicate melts, ranging in composition from tholeiites and angrites through rhyolites to potash ankaratrites.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a case study of structural mapping by applying the 3D Euler method to the high-resolution aeromagnetic data that was collected in the west central Arabian Shield region and the coastal region of the central Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. We show the 3D Euler deconvolution algorithm and apply it to magnetic potential field data from the west Central Arabian Shield and the Central Red Sea. The solution obtained with 3D Euler deconvolution gives better-focused depth estimates, which are closer to the real position of sources; the results presented here can be used to constrain depth to active crustal structures (volcanisms) for the study area. The results indicated that the area was affected by sets of fault systems, which primarily trended in the NNW–SSE, NW–SE, EW, and NE–SW directions. Moreover, estimated Euler solution map from aeromagnetic data delineated also the boundaries of shallow, small, and confined magnetic bodies on the offshore section of the study area. These nearly exposed basement intrusions are most likely related to the Red Sea Rift and may be associated with structures higher up in the sedimentary section. These volcanic bodies are extended to the continental part (onshore) of the west central Arabian Shield, particularly beneath both sides of the Ad Damm fault zone. This extension verifies that the fault was largely contemporaneous with a major period during the extension of the Red Sea Basin. Moreover, according to the distribution of circular magmatic-source bodies (circular-shaped ring dikes) that resulted from this study, we can state that the clustering of most earthquakes along this fault may most likely be attributed to the active mantle upwelling (volcanic earthquakes), which are ultimately related to volcanic processes. Furthermore, the oceanic crustal structures near and in the Red Sea offshore regions were also estimated and discussed according to the ophiolite occurrences and further opening of the Red Sea. Our results are largely comparable with studies of previous crustal sections, which were performed along the Red Sea Rift and the Arabian Shield. As a result, the areas above these anomalies are highly recommended for further geothermal study. This example illustrates that high-resolution aeromagnetic surveys can greatly help delineating the subsurface active structures in the west central Arabian Shield and the middle coastal region of the Red Sea of Saudi Arabia.  相似文献

Micropaleontological and isotope-geochronological investigations of calcareous sedimentary rocks and volcanites dredged out from the central portion of the submarine Vitoria-Trindade Ridge during the 24th cruise of R/V Akademik Vavilov have been conducted. It has been established based on micropaleontological analysis, which included determination of the species composition of foraminifera and nannoplankton, that the sequence of sedimentary rocks having a pelagic nature formed on the slopes of the volcanic seamounts in the central portion of the Vitoria-Trindade Ridge from the Early to Mid-Miocene to the Holocene; a good correlation between the degree of lithification of these rocks and their age is observed. It has also been established that the carbonate platforms on the abraded tops of the Davis Seamount and the Dogaressa Bank, which are located in the east-central portion of the Vitoria-Trindade Ridge, started forming in the Early Miocene (19–24 Ma). It has been determined using local U-Pb dating of zircon grains with a SHRIMP-II high resolution secondary ion mass spectrometer that the volcanites forming the upper portion of the volcanic rock sequence of the Jaseur Seamount (29.8 ± 6.6 Ma) located in the west-central portion of the Vitoria-Trindade Ridge date to the Oligocene. The investigations conducted have confirmed the opinion that the Vitoria-Trindade Ridge formed in general because of the activity of the hot spot located under the volcanic Trindade and Martin Vaz Islands. However, separate extended lenticular segments of this ridge existed for a long time as single structures, within which the age of the seamounts was not linearly dependent on the distance from the location of the hot spot. Lenses of hot mantle matter that form at the sublithospheric level as a result of impulses of plume activity and move along with the lithospheric plate play a defining role in the development of individual segments forming the Vitoria-Trindade Ridge.  相似文献

We have studied a large (12 × 22 × 30 cm) spinel lherzolite xenolith with undeformed margins in alkali basalt (basanite) from the eroded crater of Late Cenozoic Shavaryn Tsaram-1 volcano in western Mongolia. The xenolith was sampled along its median transversal profile, at every 15–20 mm for bulk chemistry of lherzolite and basalt (ICP-MS) and at 4–10 mm for the chemistry of olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, and Cr-spinel minerals, and of material filling cracks (LA ICP-MS). Incompatible elements (especially, LREE) are distributed unevenly over the xenolith, both in lherzolite and in its constituent minerals, as well as in crack-filling material, with abnormal LREE enrichment in some specimens. Judging by the measured trace-element spectra compared with the model patterns, incompatible elements reside in different amounts as interstitial impurity in cracks inside and between mineral grains in lherzolite, also being a substitutional impurity in the lherzolite constituent minerals. Experimental acid leaching of specimens from sites of high crack density showed (La/Yb)n ratios in the crack fill to be much higher than in the basalt host and more so in bulk lherzolite (180 against 33 and 1.5–3.6, respectively). The proportional contents of P and Ca in the leaching solution, especially in that from the xenolith’s center mark the presence of an apatite microphase, which can be a LREE repository.The observed patterns of LREE and other incompatible elements in the xenolith and in the host alkali basalt fit a model implying that mobile elements residing as interstitial impurity came with fluids which were released from rising basaltic magma and percolated into the xenolith along cracks.  相似文献

Studies on Cretaceous pelagic limestones have shown a close correspondence between putative sea-level curves and the carbon-isotope profile, suggesting a possible relationship between the two phenomena. Such a relationship could relate to shelf-sea area governing the global burial rate of organic carbon which, in turn, controls the 13C/12C ratio of dissolved inorganic carbon in the oceanic reservoir. In order to see whether or not this relationship might be of more general applicability, the major mid-Oxfordian (Jurassic) transgression is documented to zonal level and appropriate carbon-isotope data are presented. Although the applicability of ammonite zonation to the mid Oxfordian is problematic on a regional scale, a clear δ13C excursion is present in the trunsversariurn Zone, which is coincident with regional overstep and/or evidence of shoreline retreat and/or evidence of bathymetric deepening in Europe and elsewhere. The use of the carbon-isotope curve as a proxy for shelf-sea area or relative sea level is worthy of further exploration.  相似文献

The main goal of this paper is to extract land topographical information by analyzing the 3D ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data by the 2D directional continuous wavelet transform method. The first objective is to identify direction of obstacles, and the second is to characterize each one with a special roughness coefficient. Application on real data shows that the proposed tool can enhance the GPR data interpretation.  相似文献

The magnetic behaviour and Curie temperatures (T C ) of spinelloids and spinels in the Fe3O4–Fe2SiO4 and Fe3O4–(Mg,Fe)2SiO4 systems have been determined from magnetic susceptibility (k) measurements in the temperature range –192 to 700 °C. Spinelloid II is ferrimagnetic at room temperature and the k measurements display a characteristic asymmetric hump before reaching a T C at 190 °C. Spinelloid V from the Mg-free system is paramagnetic at room temperature and hysteresis loops at various low temperatures indicate a ferri- to superparamagnetic transition before reaching the T C . The T C shows a non-linear variation with composition between –50 and –183 °C with decreasing magnetite component (X Fe3O4). The substitution of Mg in spinelloid V further decreases T C . Spinelloid III is paramagnetic over nearly the total temperature range. Ferrimagnetic models for spinelloid II and spinelloid V are proposed. The T C of Fe3O4–Fe2SiO4 spinel solid solutions gradually decrease with increasing Si content. Spinel is ferrimagnetic at least to a composition of X Fe3O4=0.20, constraining a ferrimagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition to occur at a composition of X Fe3O4<0.20. A contribution of the studied ferrimagnetic phases for crustal anomalies on the Earth can be excluded because they lose their magnetization at relatively low temperatures. However, their relevance for magnetic anomalies on other planets (Mars?), where these high-pressure Fe-rich minerals could survive their exhumation or were formed by impacts, has to be considered.  相似文献

In this work, we estimated soil moisture (SM) by using dielectric constant properties of soil with radar backscattering coefficient (bc) from simulated annealing techniques of RISAT-1 (radar imaging satellite, based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technique) data. We examined the performance of simulated annealing in retrieving SM where the vegetation cover is not very high (NDVI ≈ 0.35 for wheat-dominated area on January 19, 2013).To overcome the land surface model limits on SM estimation accuracy, point measurement spatial coverage limits, and microwave remote sensing spatial-temporal sampling limits, we reduced uncertainties through a combination of these approaches. Near-surface SM measurements from the 5.35-GHz (C-band) channels of RISAT-1 were collocated against ground-truth data (collected during the flight time of RISAT-1 over the study area), to establish SAR-SM relationships for FRS-1(circular horizontal (RH) and circular vertical (RV)) data set of RISAT-1. Comparison with the limited ground-based point (total 24 points) measurements of SM content exhibited a net improvement when near-surface SM observations were assimilated. Comparison of the SM derived from the sigma naught (σ 0) (of RISAT-1 data set FRS-1) using the inversion algorithm with the observed measurements (using time domain reflectometry) of SM showed root mean square error of 0.24, nRMSE = 0.03, R-RMSE = 0.38, MAE = 0.63, NRMSE = 1.02, NSE = 1, d = 0.87, r 2 = 0.65, and RMSE% = 12.79 for RH polarized image while RV polarized image failed each statistical test for predicting good SM with respect to the observed SM. The ability to extract additional information comes at the expense of including more measurements, especially at frequencies lower than the L-band. This approach is therefore intended for future space-borne systems.  相似文献

The criteria for the evaluation of the REE composition of phosphorites and sedimentary rocks have been determined. These data are required to reconstruct depositional environments. Literature data on the geochemistry of some phosphorite deposits of Eurasia are considered. The REE patterns of Mesozoic phosphorites of the East European Platform are studied. On the basis of REE contents, the ratios of lanthanides and fields on the La–(Nd + Sm)–(Y + Dy), La–(Ce + Nd + Sm)–(Y + Dy), and LREE–MREE–(HREE×10) diagrams have been determined as indicators of climate and the depth and facies conditions of sedimentation.  相似文献

The polymorphism (2M1 or 3T modification) of phengites coexisting with Jadeite+quartz+K-feldspar in gneisses of granitic composition from the internal part of the Sesia Zone correlates with their Mg/(Al+Fe+Mg) ratio. For values 0.015 the 2M1 modification, for values 0.025 the 3T modification is formed. For Mg/(Al+Fe+Mg) values between these limits both polymorphs coexist as distinct grains; less than 1% of a large number of separated grains show an intergrowth of both modifications. In these cases the predominant phase boundaries are (hkO) planes, rational at least with respect to the 2M1 lattice; boundaries parallel (001) occur as subordinate steps in (hkO) boundaries. Extensive intergrowth parallel (001) is not observed. As far as revealed by optical microscopy, the stacking sequence once established in a nucleus is retained during growth of the crystal.  相似文献
