In this paper of the series we analyze three stars listed among stars with discrepant v sin i: HD9531 and HD31592, which also show radial velocity variations inherent to spectroscopic binaries, and HD129174 which is an Mn-type star with a possible magnetic field. In HD9531 we confirm the radial velocity derived fromthe hydrogen lines as well as fromthe Ca II line at 3933 Å as variable. The profile of the calcium line also appears variable, and with the estimated magnetic induction Be = ?630 ± 1340 G, this suggests that the abundance of calcium possibly varies over the surface of the star. We identified the lines of the secondary component in the spectrum of HD31592 revealing thus it is an SB2 binary with B9.5V and A0V components. While the primary star rotates with v sin i = 50 km s?1, the secondary star is faster with v sin i = 170 km s?1. We find that only 60% of the Mn lines identified in the spectrum of HD129174 can be fitted with a unique abundance value, whereas the remaining lines are stronger or fainter. We also identified two Xe II lines at 5339.33 Å and 5419.15 Å and estimated their log g f.  相似文献

High dispersion CCD spectra are used to study the profiles of the Hα and Hβ lines of 48 stars in early spectral classes in the young diffuse binary cluster h/χ Per. In addition, moderate resolution spectra of 15 B and Be stars were taken over the interval 4400–4960 Å. One or, possibly, two new Be stars are discovered. The major parameters of the Hα line are measured for the observed B and Be stars. The spectra over 4400–4960 Å are used to estimate Teff, logg, and υsin i. No traces of emission are detected in the Hα line profiles for 28 of the stars and emission is observed in the Hα line for 20. During our observations an absorption profile of the Hα line was observed for some of the stars, such as Oo146, Oo566, Oo922, and Oo1268, although they have previously been identified as Be stars. A significant long-term variability of the Hα line is discovered for the Be stars Oo1161 and Oo2242. Oo2371 manifests a variability in its faint emission spectrum which is typical of close binary systems that include a Be star. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 51, No. 2, pp. 305–319 (May 2008).  相似文献

Axial rotation of a star plays an important role in its evolution, physical conditions in its atmosphere, and appearance of its spectrum. We have analyzed CCD spectra of three stars for which their projected rotational velocity remarkably differs when derived from the Ca II λ 3933 Å and MgII λ 4481 Å lines. We derived effective temperatures and surface gravities using published uvbyβ photometries and computed synthetic spectra. Comparing observed line profiles of the two lines with the computed ones, we estimated values of v sin i. We also derived radial velocities by means of the cross-correlation function. HD8837 is known to be a shell star with pronounced narrow absorption cores in the Balmer lines as well as in the strong metal lines; however, we do not confirm the emission component in the core of Hβ. HD47964 has been discovered by Hipparcos to be a double. However, in our spectra we do not find traces of the other star. Based on the Hipparcos data, we estimated that the other star would be a main sequence A4 star with an extremely high rotational velocity resulting in wiping out any traces of spectral lines of the companion. HD183986 is known to be a triple star. However, we have found a manifestation of a so far not discovered companion of the component HD183986A and estimated it as a main sequence A5 star having v sin i of about 150 km/s.  相似文献

This paper presents the spectrophotometric observations of five Be stars belonging to spectral type from B2.5 to B5 and luminosity class from III to V. The continuum energy distribution data of these stars are extracted from the spectrophotometric measurements over the wavelength range of λλ 3200–8000 Å. The observed data of continuum energy distribution are compared with the theoretical energy distribution curves to derive the value of effective temperatures of these stars. We have also examined the effect of circumstellar envelopes of Be stars on their continuum energy distribution. It has been found that the extended circumstellar envelope of Be stars affect the underlying continua in the near-ultraviolet and near-infrared regions. Three Be stars are found to exhibit near-ultraviolet and near-infrared flux deficiency in their continua. For one of the Be, namely star HR 1289, we report the first continuum energy distribution measurements. Another normal B star HR 1363, which was observed as comparison star, was found to exhibit near-ultraviolet and excess emission, which are signatures of a Be star, thus putting this star in the category of Be stars.  相似文献

We analyzed the spectra of a well known SB1 binary HD199892 for which the projected rotational velocity v sin i, introduced in the literature, significantly differs when determined from the lines of Ca II at 3933 Å and ofMg II at 4481 Å. Contrary to the former findings, we discovered the signs of spectral lines of a companion star in the profile of Hβ as well as weak metallic lines in the high resolution high S/N spectra covering the most of the visual region. We estimated the secondary star to be a main sequence A4V star with a mass of 2.2M and derived its radial velocity which resulted in the mass of the primary M = 4.6M . Short sections of the spectra in the Mg II 4481 Å and Ca II 3933 Å regions are analyzed as well.  相似文献

Axial rotation of a star plays an important role in its evolution, physical conditions in its atmosphere and the shape of its spectrum. Methods of determining of v sin i are based on comparison of the observed profiles of spectral lines with the theoretical ones. Their accuracy depends on the type and quality of spectrograms, as well as on the algorithms used. A frequently used method is a simple comparison of one line, e.g. the Ca ii at 3933 Å or Mg ii at 4481 Å. This, however, may result in a false value of v sin i in case when low-dispersion spectra are used. We investigate the spectra of stars with a significant discrepancy of their rotational velocities introduced in various sources, and analyze the corresponding spectral region from the point of view of possible admixed features, which may mask the true line profiles. We use CCD spectra of the stars having this discrepancy, to compare with theoretical spectra. We also studied photographic spectra, obtained during the 1970s and 1980s. In this work we studied the spectra of the binary HD 2913A, and identified the spectrum of its weaker component designated as “Ab”. We estimated the effective temperature, surface gravity and projected rotational velocity of the weaker component that classify it as an early F-type Main Sequence star. The discrepancy between the values of v sin i derived from the two lines of calcium and magnesium is explained as a consequence of superposition of the pair’s spectra. The cooler component contributes by a strong Ca ii-K line, and thus significantly broadens the observed line profile.  相似文献

Axial rotation of a star plays an important role in its evolution, physical conditions in its atmosphere and the appearance of its spectrum. We analyzed CCD spectra of nine stars for which the projected rotational velocity derived from the Ca II line at λ 3933 Å was remarkably lower than the one derived from the MgII line at λ 4481 Å. We derived effective temperatures and surface gravities using published uvbyβ photometries, and computed synthetic spectra. Comparing the observed line profiles of the two lines with the computed ones, we estimated the values of v sin i. One of the stars, HD44783, is a Be-star which, besides the narrow absorptions in the spectrum originating in its circumstellar envelope, also has lines of interstellar origin. We also found indications of circumstellar matter in the spectrum of HD25152. In the spectra of the remaining seven stars the narrow components in the Ca II λ 3933 Å line as well as narrow absorptions in the Na I λ 5889.951 Å (D1) and λ 5895.924 Å (D2) lines are of interstellar origin. In HD114376 there are two systems of interstellar components, thus disclosing two different interstellar clouds in the direction of the star. In the spectrum of HD138527 signs of a possible companion were detected, the emission of which contributes 15% to the total light of the system.  相似文献

We separate and analyse the component spectra of the composite‐spectrum binary HD 208253. We find that the cool primary is an evolving star of spectral type G7 III, while its hot secondary is an early‐A dwarf. The giant is currently near the lowest point of the red‐giant branch and is slightly less luminous than its dwarf companion. We provide a set of precise radial‐velocity measurements for both stars. The double‐lined orbit which we derive from them shows that the component mass ratio is close to unity (q = 1.05 ± 0.01). We deduce the physical properties of both stars, determine their respective masses to be 2.75 ± 0.07 Me (giant) and 2.62 ± 0.07 Me (dwarf), and show that the orbit's inclination is within a degree or two of 68°. The spectrum of the A‐type component has quite component has quite narrow lines (we infer a rotational velocity of 18 km s–1), though since the period of the orbit is well over 1 year that component cannot be in synchronous rotation. An intriguing property of the dwarf is its enhanced Sr and Ba, though it does not exhibit the other spectral peculiarities that would signal a classical Am star. While by no means unique amongst the multitude of oddities exhibited by A and early‐F stars, this dwarf which we have uncovered in a long‐period binary offers valuable constraints and challenges to stellar‐evolution theory. New spectral observations of chemically peculiar (CP) magnetic stars were obtained using an NES echelle spectrometer with a BTA telescope in the Special Astrophysical Observatory (Russian Academy of Sciences). Several stars were shown to have anomalous Li abundances. Testing and monitoring the stars with Doppler shifts Vsini > 10 km/s indicated that the lithium 6708 Å line was variable in the spectra of some roaAP-CP stars. To distinguish variable features in the spectra, the dispersogram technique was used. The most peculiar among the stars studied is HD 12098. The strong and variable lithium 6708 Å line was detected in the spectrum of this star. The star has been shown to have greatly different lithium abundances in two rotation phases corresponding to opposite surface areas. As mentioned earlier, a similar behavior of the Li blend was found in the spectra of HD 83368 and HD 60435 which have lithium spots on their surface. Spectral observations of slowly rotating CP stars with the Doppler shifts Vsini < 10 km/s revealed the strong and nonvariable lithium 6708 Å line in the spectra of these stars. Quantitative spectral analysis using the Li I 6708 Å resonance doublet and the Li I 6103 Å line shows the lithium abundance, as determined by the 6103 Å line, to be somewhat greater than that determined by the 6708 Å line. A higher ratio of 6Li/7Li amounting to ~0.3–0.5 was found in these stars. 6Li production is assumed to be due to spallation reactions on the surface of magnetic CP stars; this isotope ratio remained in strong magnetic fields.  相似文献

As Be stars are restricted to luminosity classes III‐V, but early B‐type stars are believed to evolve into supergiants, it is to be expected that the Be phenomenon disappears at some point in the evolution of a moderately massive star, before it reaches the supergiant phase. As a first stage in an attempt to determine the physical reasons of this cessation, a search of the literature has provided a number of candidates to be Be stars with luminosity classes Ib or II. Spectroscopy has been obtained for candidates in a number of open clusters and associations, as well as several other bright stars in those clusters. Among the objects observed, HD 207329 is the best candidate to be a high‐luminosity Be star, as it appears like a fast‐rotating supergiant with double‐peaked emission lines. The lines of HD 229059, in Berkeley 87, also appear morphologically similar to those of Be stars, but there are reasons to suspect that this object is an interacting binary. At slightly lower luminosities, LS I +56°92 (B4 II) and HD 333452 (O9 II), also appear as intrinsically luminous Be stars. Two Be stars in NGC 6913, HD 229221 and HD 229239, appear to have rather higher intrinsic magnitudes than their spectral type (B0.2 III in both cases) would indicate, being as luminous as luminosity class II objects in the same cluster. HD 344863, in NGC 6823, is also a rather early Be star of moderately high luminosity. The search shows that, though high‐luminosity Be stars do exist, they are scarce and, perhaps surprisingly, tend to have early spectral types. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We report the results of our search for magnetic fields in a sample of 16 field Be stars, the binary emission‐line B‐type star υ Sgr, and in a sample of fourteen members of the open young cluster NGC3766 in the Carina spiral arm. The sample of cluster members includes Be stars, normal B‐type stars and He‐strong/He‐weak stars. Nine Be stars have been studied with magnetic field time series obtained over ∼1 hour to get an insight into the temporal behaviour and the correlation of magnetic field properties with dynamical phenomena taking place in Be star atmospheres. The spectropolarimetric data were obtained at the European Southern Observatory with the multi‐mode instrument FORS1 installed at the 8m Kueyen telescope. We detect weak photospheric magnetic fields in four field Be stars, HD 62367, μ Cen, o Aqr, and ε Tuc. The strongest longitudinal magnetic field, 〈Bz〉 = 117 ± 38 G, was detected in the Be star HD 62367. Among the Be stars studied with time series, one Be star, λ Eri, displays cyclic variability of the magnetic field with a period of 21.12 min. The binary star υ Sgr, in the initial rapid phase of mass exchange between the two components with strong emission lines in the visible spectrum, is a magnetic variable star, probably on a timescale of a few months. The maximum longitudinal magnetic field 〈Bz〉 = –102 ± 10 G at MJD 54333.018 was measured using hydrogen lines. The cluster NGC3766 seems to be extremely interesting, where we find evidence for the presence of a magnetic field in seven early B‐type stars out of the observed fourteen cluster members (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Be stars are rapidly spinning B stars surrounded by an outflowing disc of gas in Keplerian rotation. Be star/X-ray binary systems contain a Be star and a neutron star. They are found to have non-zero eccentricities and there is evidence that some systems have a misalignment between the spin axis of the star and the spin axis of the binary orbit. The eccentricities in these systems are caused by a kick to the neutron star during the supernova that formed it. Such kicks would also give rise to misalignments. In this paper, we investigate the extent to which the same kick distribution can give rise to both the observed eccentricity distribution and the observed misalignments. We find that a Maxwellian distribution of velocity kicks with a low velocity dispersion,  σk≈ 15 km s−1  , is consistent with the observed eccentricity distribution but is hard to reconcile with the observed misalignments, typically   i ≥ 25°  . Alternatively, a higher velocity kick distribution,  σk= 265 km s−1  , is consistent with the observed misalignments but not with the observed eccentricities, unless post-supernova circularization of the binary orbits has taken place. We discuss briefly how this might be achieved.  相似文献

Papers published in recent years have contributed to resolve the enigma of the hypothetical Be nature of the hot pulsating star β Cephei. This star shows variable emission in the Hα line, typical for Be stars, but its projected rotational velocity is very much lower than the critical limit, contrary to what is expected for a typical Be star. The emission has been attributed to the secondary component of the β Cephei spectroscopic binary system.
In this paper, using both our and archived spectra, we attempt to recover the Hα profile of the secondary component and to analyse its behaviour with time for a long period. To accomplish this task, we first derive the atmospheric parameters of the primary,   T eff= 24 000 ± 250 K  and  log  g = 3.91 ± 0.10  , and then we use these values to compute its synthetic Hα profile, and finally we reconstruct the secondary's profile disentangling the observed one.
The secondary's Hα profile shows the typical two-peak emission of a Be star with a strong variability. We also analysed the behaviour versus time of some linewidth parameters: equivalent width, ratio of blue to red peak intensities, full width at half-maximum, peak separation and radial velocity of the central depression.
The projected rotational velocity  ( v sin  i )  of the secondary and the dimension of the equatorial surrounding disc have also been estimated.  相似文献

We present the results of our study of the poorly known B[e] star AS 160=IRAS 07370-2438. The high-resolution spectrum obtained with the 6-m BTA telescope exhibits strong emission in the Hα line with a two-component profile, indicating that the gaseous envelope of the star is nonspherical. Previously nonanalyzed photometric data suggest the presence of a compact dust envelope. The fundamental parameters of the star (log L/L = 4.4 ± 0.2, v sin i = 200 km s?1 and its distance (3.5±0.5 kpc) have been determined for the first time and are in agreement with published estimates of the MK spectral type of the object (B1.5 V:). Analysis of the object's properties leads us to suggest that this is a binary system that belongs to our recently identified type of Be stars with warm dust.  相似文献

Using the numerical code (`Scenario Machine') we study of number and physical properties of binary Be stars. Evolutionary tracks leading to a formation of the observational binary systems are presented. We conclude that synchronization must be taken into account when calculating binary Be star evolution and calculate the minimal orbital period for Be/evolved companion binary. The obtained distributions over orbital parameters are in good agreement with the observational lack of short-period Be/X-ray binaries. According to our calculations 70% of all Be stars must have a white dwarf. The white dwarfs in these systems should be hot enough with the surface temperature distribution peaking at 10000–20000 K. Their detection is possible during the period of the lack of Be star envelope by the detection of white dwarf extremely UV and soft X-ray emission. This method of registration appears to be particularly promising for `single' early-type Be stars because in these systems the white dwarfs must have a very high surface temperature. However, the loss of the Be disc-like envelope does not often occur and it is a rather rare event for many Be stars. The best possibility of white dwarf detection is given by the study of helium spectral lines found in emission from several Be stars. The ultraviolet continuum energy of these Be stars is found to be not enough to produce the observed helium emission. Besides, we also discuss the orbital properties of binary Be star systems with other evolved companions such as helium stars and neutron stars and give a possible explanation for the lack of Be/black hole binaries. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

TODCOR is a new TwO-Dimensional CORrelation technique to measure radial velocities of two components of a spectroscopic binary. Assuming the spectra of the two components are known, the technique correlates an observed binary spectrum against a combination of the two spectra with different shifts. TODCOR measuressimultaneously the radial velocities of the two stars by finding the maximum correlation. One of the advantages of TODCOR is its ability to detect a very faint companion in a combined spectrum, and to measure its radial velocity. We performed numerous tests in which we applied TODCOR to simulated spectra which were prepared as combinations of two spectra with various luminosity ratios, together with random noise. These tests show that TODCOR can detect a very faint secondary spectrum and measure correctly its velocity, even with a luminosity ratio of 1000, provided the combined spectrum has enough spectral coverage and highS / N. Measuring the radial velocity of the faint secondary will enable us to estimate the companion mass, a very useful tool in the search for brown dwarfs and giant planets around nearby stars.Paper presented at the Conference onPlanetary Systems: Formation, Evolution, and Detection held 7–10 December, 1992 at CalTech, Pasadena, California, U.S.A.  相似文献

We present high‐quality spectra of the majority of stars that have been classified as Oe and find that their published spectral types are generally too early, most likely due to infilling of He I lines. As a matter of fact, all stars classified as Oe actually fall inside the range O9–B0 with the important exception of HD 155806 (O7.5 III) and perhaps HD 39680 (difficult to classify, but likely O8.5V). Observations of a sample of objects with published spectral types in the O9–B0 range previously classified as peculiar or emission‐line stars fail to reveal any new Oe star with spectral type earlier than O9.5. Most objects classified as peculiar in “classical” literature show signs of binarity in our spectra, but no spectral anomalies. We conclude that there is likely a real decline in the fraction of Be stars for spectral types earlier than B0, not due to observational bias. The few Oe stars with spectral types earlier than O9.5 deserve detailed investigation in order to provide constraints on the physical reasons of the Be phenomenon. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. DG Leo is a spectroscopic triple system composed of three stars of late-A spectral type, one of which was suggested to be a δ Scuti star. Seven nights of observations at high spectral and high time-resolution at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence with the ELODIE spectrograph were used to obtain the component spectra by applying a Fourier transform spectral disentangling technique. Comparing these with synthetic spectra, the stellar fundamental parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, projected rotation velocity and chemical composition) are derived. The inner binary consists of two Am components, at least one of which is not yet rotating synchronously at the orbital period though the orbit is a circular one. The distant third component is confirmed to be a δ Scuti star with normal chemical composition.  相似文献
