ABSTRACT

Although there is a noticeable difference between two-dimensional and three-dimensional earth pressures, most researchers have suggested various earth pressure theories under the two-dimensional condition. Only a few studies have been conducted on the three-dimensional load transfer to the adjacent ground, whereas most studies in literature on the three-dimensional active earth pressure have been conducted by focusing on the stability of active wall. For accurate prediction of the three-dimensional active earth pressure, it is required to study not only the three-dimensional earth pressure distribution but also the three-dimensional load transfer to the adjacent ground. In this paper, size and distribution of the three-dimensional active earth pressure as well as the load transfer according to aspect ratio of retaining wall are investigated through a series of model tests. As a results, the three-dimensional active earth pressure distribution showed the highest value at the wall height of 0.5–0.55h when the aspect ratio of equal to 1.2 or higher. The load transfer showed higher values in vertical direction than horizontal direction. The load transfer distribution can be evaluated by applying the size and effect range of the loads transferred to the adjacent soil of the retaining wall.  相似文献

Waterfront retaining walls supporting dry backfill are subjected to hydrostatic pressure on upstream face and earth pressure on the downstream face. Under seismic conditions, if such a wall retains a submerged backfill, additional hydrodynamic pressures are generated. This paper pertains to a study in which the effect of earthquakes along with the hydrodynamic pressure including inertial forces on such a retaining wall is observed. The hydrodynamic pressure is calculated using Westergaard's approach, while the earth pressure is calculated using Mononobe-Okabe's pseudo-static analysis. It is observed that when the horizontal seismic acceleration coefficient is increased from 0 to 0.2, there is a 57% decrease in the factor of safety of the retaining wall in sliding mode. For investigating the effect of different parameters, a parametric study is also done. It is observed that if φ is increased from 30° to 35°, there is an increase in the factor of safety in the sliding mode by 20.4%. Similar observations were made for other parameters as well. Comparison of results obtained from the present approach with [Ebeling, R.M., Morrison Jr, E.E., 1992. The seismic design of waterfront retaining structures. US Army Technical Report ITL-92-11. Washington DC] reveal that the factor of safety for static condition (kh=0), calculated by both the approaches, is 1.60 while for an earthquake with kh=0.2, they differ by 22.5% due to the consideration of wall inertia in the present study.  相似文献

水位波动对临海重力式挡墙基坑稳定性的影响   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
近年来临海(江)建设的地下工程逐渐增多,与常规静水补给条件下的基坑工程相比,受波浪、潮汐等动水作用影响的基坑可能展现出不同的性状,对该类水力条件下基坑响应问题的研究具有重要的工程意义。依托港珠澳大桥珠海连接线拱北隧道海域段基坑工程,采用PLAXIS软件对波浪、潮汐作用下重力式挡墙两侧的水土压力、基坑的稳定性进行了探讨分析。结果表明,对于均质砂质地基上的重力式挡墙,当基坑距防波堤一定距离时,波浪对其稳定性的影响可以忽略不计;潮汐在海床和基坑中的传播有滞后效应,当潮汐为最高潮位时,基坑并非处于最危险状态;潮汐作用下临海重力式挡墙基坑的稳定性可以通过拟静水位法近似分析。  相似文献

利用一种数值迭代方法设计具有任意给定的升力系数和压力分布形式的三维机翼。方法中对于一定的目标压力分布,取一初始机翼,并由基于速度势的面无法计算三维机翼的流体动力性能,逐次改变初始机翼某一点的形状,计算由此引起的压力分布的增量,形成Jacobian行列式,由目标压力分布与初始机翼的压力分布的差修改初始机翼,重复这一过程得到具有目标压力分布的机翼。再由该机翼升力系数的差修改目标压力分布,重新设计机翼,最后迭代得到符合设计要求的三维机翼。  相似文献

Caprocks play a key role in hydrocarbon entrapment and in the geological storage of gas. Top seals inhibit vertical migration due to their low permeability and high entry pressure (PE). This study investigated four different techniques for measuring PE: (1) step by step method; (2) dynamic approach; (3) racking method; (4) residual pressure method. This article reports results on two samples: a carbonate (1.5 μDarcy (1.5 10−18 m2)) and a claystone (15 nDarcy (1.5 10−20 m2)). On the carbonate sample, methods 1, 2 and 3 gave a PE value of 1.1 MPa, whilst method 4 gave a PE of 0.4 MPa. On the claystone sample, methods 1 and 2 gave a PE value around 12 MPa. The data allow us to consider best practices for PE measurements on caprocks. Methods 2 and 3 are the quickest and most accurate methods but show limitations in very low permeability porous media. Method 2 required three days to measure PE in the 15 nD claystone and experiments on 1 nD (10−21 m2) materials would take longer. Additional issues on mechanical stresses impact the result reliability since in methods 2 and 3 effective stress can significantly change during the experiment. Method 4 measures a snap-off pressure that is lower than the entry pressure value. Method 1 is a long experiment but is the most representative of in situ hydrocarbon migration though caprocks.  相似文献

Catastrophic failures of many tsunami barriers along the affected coasts during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake tsunami has prompted extensive investigation into improving and revising design codes for tsunami defence structures. To date, researchers and coastal engineers are investigating to understand the failure mechanisms and to find solutions so that the structures merely remain intact in the extreme event such as tsunami. Thus, the present work is motivated to experimentally study tsunami-induced bore pressures exerted on vertical seawalls; a solid vertical wall and a porous vertical seawall that consisted of a perforated front wall and a solid rear wall. Bores with various heights and velocities were generated by using the dam-break method. A porous seawall with 20% porosity of perforated front wall was used in this study. Bore pressures exerted on the solid rear wall and chamber oscillations that occurred in the experiments were also discussed. The experimental results showed that multiple peak pressures were observed during bore run-up phase in the time series of bore impacts. A predictive equation to estimate the maximum bore pressure on a perforated seawall was developed using multiple regression analysis. The proposed equation was also compared with previous empirical formulas.  相似文献

随着海洋观测技术和海洋数值模拟技术的发展,海洋学家已经能够获取海量的时空连续的海洋数据。但目前人们对于三维海洋大数据缺乏高效的交互可视探索手段,因此,利用科学可视化技术展现海洋数据,以及更深一步地挖掘时空数据规律是建立对海洋大数据从感知到认知的关键技术桥梁。本文利用体绘制技术从传输函数特征点数量、特征颜色映射以及表现特征的线型三个方面,设计针对海洋温盐异常数据以及压力异常数据的传输函数标准形态模式,能够直观有效地表现海洋涡旋温盐和压力异常三维结构。本文优化了球面光线投射算法,在保证绘制质量的情况下,实现了大规模海洋三维涡旋实时交互展示;同时实现了三维数据的内部漫游功能,能够更加清晰且完整地表现局部海洋涡旋的三维结构。通过可视分析发现,处于黑潮延伸体附近的气旋涡(CE, Cyclone Eddy)温度异常呈“上正下负”的三维结构;由于涡旋引起的海水升降运动,部分反气旋涡(AE, Anticyclone Eddy)盐度异常呈现出“上正下负”的三维结构;相较于温盐异常结构,海洋涡旋压力异常结构轮廓更为清晰且不会出现上下不一致的情况。  相似文献

在试验水池中,开展了波浪在岛礁地形上演化问题的研究。首先在实验水池中建立了西太平洋某岛礁地形的模型,然后采用改进的JONSWAP谱,由造波机产生不同周期、波高的随机波浪。试验中观察到了不同类型畸形波生成的过程及不同波面形态的畸形波。对偏度、峰度及水深与畸形波要素Hm/HsHm表示波列中的最大波高, Hs为有效波高)的关系进行了详细的分析,同时,对畸形波波高Hfr与偏度的关也进行了分析。通过对试验结果分析,发现峰度与畸形波要素i>Hm/Hs呈正相关, Hfr增大时相应的偏度也会呈现增大的趋势。此外,水深的变化剧烈时(如斜坡、海山位置)有助于畸形波的发生。  相似文献

The research into hydrodynamic loading on ocean structures has concentrated mostly on circular cross-section members and relatively limited work has been carried out on wave loading on other cross-sections such as rectangular sections. These find applications in many offshore structures as columns and pontoons in semi-submersibles and tension-leg platforms. The present investigation demonstrates the behaviour of rectangular cylinders subject to wave loading and also supplies the hydrodynamic coefficients for the design of these sections.This paper presents the results of wave forces acting on a surface piercing truncated rectangular cylinder set vertically in a towing tank. The experiments are carried out in a water depth of 2.2 m with regular and random waves for low Keulegan–Carpenter number up to 6. The rectangular cylinder is of 2 m length, 0.2 m breadth and 0.4 m width with a submergence depth of 1.45 m from still water level. Based on Morison equation, the relationship between inertia and drag coefficients are evaluated and are presented as a function of KC number for various values of frequency parameter β, for two aspect ratios of cylinders, equals to 1/2 and 2/1. Drag and inertia coefficients obtained through regular wave tests are used for the random wave analysis to compute the in-line force spectrum.The results of the experiments show the drag and inertia coefficients are strongly affected by the variation in the aspect ratios of the cylinder. The drag coefficients decreases and inertia coefficients increases with increase in Keulegan–Carpenter number up to the range of KC number tested. The random wave results show a good correlation between measured and computed force spectrums. The transverse forces in both regular and random waves are found to be small compared to in-line forces.  相似文献

The experimental investigations on the pressure distribution around a large vertical cylinder fixed on a wave channel, piercing the free surface and subjected to regular waves have been carried out. Recently, considerable advances have been made in the development of analytical techniques for studying non-linear wave loading phenomena on large structures. However, there is a lack of high quality experimental data that may be used for validating the analytical and numerical solutions obtained. This paper describes the design and execution of an experiment conducted at the Hydraulics Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department of the Istanbul Technical University. Experimental measurements of pressures at different locations are presented including comparisons with the computational results. This study showed that the experimental and computational results generally exhibited better correlation, however, the measured pressure values diverged from the computational results while approaching the free surface.  相似文献
