造山带中远洋深水沉积物是恢复古大洋的重要依据之一,昌宁-孟连古特提斯结合带存在大量海相沉积物,但是否存在大洋盆地相的远洋沉积还不清楚.对弄巴地区被认为最可能是洋盆相沉积的石炭系岩片和海相泥盆系岩片进行了岩石学、放射虫时代、碎屑锆石U-Pb年龄和Hf同位素研究.石炭系岩片放射虫硅质岩中鉴定出放射虫6属8种,时代为早石炭世早-中期.LA-ICP-MS锆石U-Pb定年结果显示,泥盆系岩片岩屑石英杂砂岩碎屑锆石年龄范围为387~3 266 Ma,最年轻一组年龄为387~413 Ma;石炭系岩片中与放射虫硅质岩共生的基性凝灰岩碎屑锆石年龄为341~3 403 Ma,最年轻一组年龄为341~354 Ma.综合锆石年龄和化石资料,限定泥盆系岩片原始沉积时代为早-中泥盆世,石炭系岩片时代为早石炭世早-中期.碎屑锆石U-Pb年龄谱特征和Hf同位素组成指示泥盆系岩片和石炭系岩片具有相似的物质源区,主要来源于亲冈瓦纳的陆壳,少量来自于古生代特提斯域新生岛弧.早-中泥盆世地层岩片原始沉积于亲冈瓦纳的大陆斜坡环境;早石炭世地层岩片原始沉积于亲冈瓦纳的大陆斜坡至古特提斯洋盆边缘环境,不是远洋深水的大洋盆地环境.寻找以远洋深水沉积物为代表的大洋盆地相沉积并开展研究是当前昌宁-孟连古特提斯研究的重要方向之一.   相似文献

Regional geophysical mapping techniques were initiated for economic exploration about 50 years ago and have now developed a completeness of coverage that can be exploited for geological research over large areas. The main strength of gravity and magnetic anomaly surveys lies in their ability to map ‘basement’ geology below cover. Suitably assembled and imaged at the continental-scale, the data give new insight into the mosaic of terranes that makes up the Precambrian continental crust, and into the margins of Precambrian continental fragments that have often been complicated by prolonged rifting before the onset of the drifting apart of continental fragments. Intrusions such as dykes, dyke swarms and plugs of small areal extent, that are often associated with continental disruption, can also be mapped with new totality. Examples using mainly aeromagnetic mapping are given to support a tight reassembly of the Precambrian crustal fragments of central Gondwana. In this, the outer margins of Precambrian blocks, known or interpreted from geophysical anomaly maps of the presently dispersed continents, are reassembled parallel and at a separation of only 50-80 km, typical of the width of present-day rift valleys. In the future, the wider availability of geophysical mapping data from both continents and oceans, with computer systems to process and interpret them, should contribute to a more fruitful co-operation of geologists and geophysicists in Gondwana research using more complete data coverage.  相似文献

The Dent Blanche Tectonic System (DBTS) is a composite thrust sheet derived from the previously thinned passive Adriatic continental margin. A kilometric high-strain zone, the Roisan-Cignana Shear Zone (RCSZ) defines the major tectonic boundary within the DBTS and separates it into two subunits, the Dent Blanche s.s. nappe to the northwest and the Mont Mary nappe to the southeast. Within this shear zone, tectonic slices of Mesozoic and pre-Alpine meta-sediments became amalgamated with continental basement rocks of the Adriatic margin. The occurrence of high pressure assemblages along the contact between these tectonic slices indicates that the amalgamation occurred prior to or during the subduction process, at an early stage of the Alpine orogenic cycle. Detailed mapping, petrographic and structural analysis show that the Roisan-Cignana Shear Zone results from several superimposed Alpine structural and metamorphic stages. Subduction of the continental fragments is recorded by blueschist-facies deformation, whereas the Alpine collision is reflected by a greenschist facies overprint associated with the development of large-scale open folds. The post-nappe evolution comprises the development of low-angle brittle faults, followed by large-scale folding (Vanzone phase) and finally brittle extensional faults. The RCSZ shows that fragments of continental crust had been torn off the passive continental margin prior to continental collision, thus recording the entire history of the orogenic cycle. The role of preceding Permo-Triassic lithospheric thinning, Jurassic rifting, and ablative subduction processes in controlling the removal of crustal fragments from the reactivated passive continental margin is discussed. Results of this study constrain the temporal sequence of the tectono-metamorphic processes involved in the assembly of the DBTS, but they also show limits on the interpretation. In particular it remains difficult to judge to what extent pre-collisional rifting at the Adriatic continental margin preconditioned the efficiency of convergent processes, i.e. accretion, subduction, and orogenic exhumation.  相似文献

The point at issue: The Kurosegawa Terrane is composed of continental fragments transecting Mesozoic terranes of accretionary complex in Southwest Japan (Fig. 1). It is an attenuated tectonic sliver and considered to be allochthonous with respect to the main part of Southwest Japan. The problem of which continental block in the East Asian continental margin is the source of the Kurosegawa Terrane has puzzled Japanese geologists for many years. Firstly, we try to approach this issue based on the analysis of fusulinacean assemblage in accreted terranes composed of subduction complex in the Pacific Rim. Secondly, by applying the result of this analysis we try to locate the source of the continental fragments of the Kurosegawa Terrane. Thirdly, we try to prove its validity with a new paleomagnetic study.  相似文献

老君山砾岩是一套由砾岩和杂砂岩组成的陆相粗碎屑岩.砾岩由来自下伏基底的超镁铁岩、中-基性火山岩、硅质岩、花岗岩等碎屑组成.杂砂岩中岩屑含量大于70%,石英约10%,长石约15%.岩屑以中基性火山岩和花岗岩为主;硅质岩屑是主要的沉积岩屑.锆石、磷灰石、磁铁矿是杂砂岩中最为丰富的重矿物,同时还有铬铁矿、石榴子石、电气石、金红石、黄铁矿.这些事实说明,老君山砾岩的源区曾出露有超镁铁岩、中基性火山岩、变质岩等类型的岩石.砂岩碎屑模式和粉砂岩、泥岩的地球化学成分均表明,老君山砾岩源区为大陆边缘弧和大洋岛弧,形成于活动大陆边缘与岛弧相关的沉积盆地中.  相似文献

The continental terrace of Israel consists of Nile-derived sediments. They are classified into three major groups, according to their structures: (1) irregularly to wavy laminated, coarse-grained sediments (quartz and skeletal debris) of the flat outer shelf and upper bend of the slope (10–20% of the bulk) which are influenced by currents. These sediments are bioturbated to various degrees. Smectitic silty clays (80–90%) form two structural groups: (2) laminated, turbiditic sediments which accumulate on the slope, particularly in the canyons of the northern slope. Irregular, wavy, thickly laminated, coarse-grained sediments of the upper slope and canyon heads merge downslope with parallel, thinly laminated, fine-grained sediments. Toward the foot of the slope and on the adjacent deep-sea floor lamination becomes indistinct and the sediment is visually homogeneous. (3) Slump-generated mud lumps of various size which accumulate on the lower slope and along the transport axes of the canyons. These are the most visible evidence for large-scale slumping mass movement. Transportational and depositional processes are far more intensive over the steep northern continental slope of Israel, and especially in its canyons than over the gentle southern slope. Very stiff overconsolidated sediments unconformably overlain by the ubiquitous recent silty-clayey sediment were cored on steep sections of the middle continental slope and along the canyon walls. Their preconsolidation stress values suggest that these sections were formerly overlain by more than 40 m of sediment and now are exposed by slumping. The downsliding slabs usually disintegrated into small fragments although several huge fragments could be identified along the canyon axes.  相似文献

The evolution of Earth's biosphere,atmosphere and hydrosphere is tied to the formation of continental crust and its subsequent movements on tectonic plates.The supercontinent cycle posits that the continental crust is periodically amalgamated into a single landmass,subsequently breaking up and dispersing into various continental fragments.Columbia is possibly the first true supercontinent,it amalgamated during the 2.0-1.7 Ga period,and collisional orogenesis resulting from its formation peaked at 1.95-1.85 Ga.Geological and palaeomagnetic evidence indicate that Columbia remained as a quasi-integral continental lid until at least 1.3 Ga.Numerous break-up attempts are evidenced by dyke swarms with a large temporal and spatial range; however,palaeomagnetic and geologic evidence suggest these attempts remained unsuccessful.Rather than dispersing into continental fragments,the Columbia supercontinent underwent only minor modifications to form the next supercontinent (Rodinia) at 1.1 -0.9 Ga; these included the transformation of external accretionary belts into the internal Grenville and equivalent collisional belts.Although Columbia provides evidence for a form of ‘lid tectonics’,modern style plate tectonics occurred on its periphery in the form of accretionary orogens.The detrital zircon and preserved geological record are compatible with an increase in the volume of continental crust during Columbia's lifespan; this is a consequence of the continuous accretionary processes along its margins.The quiescence in plate tectonic movements during Columbia's lifespan is correlative with a long period of stability in Earth's atmospheric and oceanic chemistry.Increased variability starting at 1.3 Ga in the environmental record coincides with the transformation of Columbia to Rodinia; thus,the link between plate tectonics and environmental change is strengthened with this interpretation of supercontinent history.  相似文献

Morphology, magnetic and seismic properties, and the geology of the sea-floor and adjacent continent indicate that the area west of Iberia and Morocco is a deformed passive continental margin. Formation of this margin is envisaged as having proceeded through a doming and rifting phase, whereby thinned continental fragments became detached from the continent and each other to form a wide zone with geophysical characteristics intermediate between those of the continent and those of the ocean. A wedge-shaped basin opened between Iberia and some of the larger detached continental fragments, the Madeira—Tore Rise and Galicia Bank. The opening of this basin and of the Bay of Biscay in Late Jurassic—Early Cretaceous time is a direct consequence of the counter-clockwise rotation of Iberia between relatively stable Europe and eastward-moving Africa. During the Tertiary the continental margin became compressed in the north—south direction and pieces of the sea-floor were thrust up and over each other to form the predominantly northeast oriented Horseshoe Seamounts. At the same time left-lateral shears developed in the margin between then northward-moving Africa and Iberia and the eastward-spreading Atlantic. Massive outpourings of Late Tertiary to Recent lavas along some of these shears are responsible for the ultimate shape of the Atlantic margins of northwest Africa and Iberia.  相似文献

Crystalline continental rocks and associated crust‐contaminated basaltic rocks were unexpectedly dredged on the crest and at seamounts of the Rio Grande Rise, South Atlantic. Zircon U–Pb ages of one gabbro (ca. 2,200 Ma) and four granitoids (between ca. 1,430–480 Ma) indicate that the breakup of SW Gondwana left behind continental fragments of dominantly African age. These rocks may have been incorporated into the oceanic lithosphere by complex processes including rifting and interaction of the Tristan‐Gough mantle plume with hyperextended continental margins. Until ca. 80–70 Ma, the Rio Grande Rise and an old portion of the Walvis Ridge formed a conjugate pair of aseismic ridges, and the Tristan‐Gough plume was positioned at the Mid‐Atlantic Ridge. The finding of continental rock fragments in one of these conjugate pairs opens new perspectives on the mechanisms of continental break‐up, the nature of this conjugate pair, and the geodynamic evolution of rifted Gondwana margins in the South Atlantic.  相似文献

班公湖-怒江缝合带中段洞错混杂岩保存了完整的与大洋演化相关的混杂岩系,包括蛇绿岩岩块、洋岛残片,以及复理石岩片、大陆边缘沉积等沉积岩块体,是恢复和反演班公湖-怒江洋演化的理想地区。在综述前人研究的基础上,结合近年来的研究成果,归纳和总结洞错混杂岩的物质组成和时代,初步阐述洞错混杂岩对班公湖-怒江洋演化的指示意义。结果表明,洞错混杂岩中无论是蛇绿岩残块、洋岛残片还是次深海-深海复理石岩片等,均是不同时代多期次构造混杂的混杂体。最早的年龄记录可追溯至晚二叠世末期,最晚可延至早白垩世中晚期,是班公湖-怒江洋晚二叠世末期—早白垩世中晚期连续演化的记录。洞错混杂岩早白垩世中晚期大陆边缘沉积与蛇绿岩等的不整合仅是弧前楔顶盆地沉积的产物,不能约束班公湖-怒江洋的最终消亡。  相似文献

The Jurassic–Cretaceous Woyla Group of northern Sumatra includes fragments of volcanic arcs and an imbricated oceanic assemblage. The arc rocks are intruded by a granitic batholith and are separated from the original continental margin of Sundaland by the oceanic assemblage. Rocks of the arc assemblage are considered to be underlain by a continental basement because of the occurrence of the intrusive granite and of tin anomalies identified in stream sediments. Quartzose sediments associated with the granite have been correlated with units in the Palaeozoic basement of Sumatra. From these relationships a model has been proposed in which a continental sliver was separated from the margin of Sundaland in the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous in an extensional strike-slip faulting regime, producing a short-lived marginal basin. The separated continental fragments have been designated the Sikuleh and Natal microcontinents. In the mid-Cretaceous the extensional regime was succeeded by compression, crushing the continental fragments back against the Sundaland margin, with the destruction of the marginal basin, now represented only by the imbricated oceanic assemblage. Modifications of this scenario are required by subsequent studies. Age-dating of the volcanic assemblage and intrusive granites in the Natal area showed that they formed part of an Eocene–Oligocene volcanic arc and are not relevant to the model. Thick-bedded radiolarian chert and palaeontological studies in the oceanic Woyla Group rocks of the Natal and Padang areas showed that they formed part of a more extensive and long-lived ocean basin which lasted from at least Triassic until mid-Cretaceous. This raised the possibility that the Sikuleh microcontinent might be allochthonous to Sumatra and encouraged plate tectonic reconstructions in which the Sikuleh microcontinent originated on the northern margin of Gondwanaland and migrated northwards across Tethys before colliding with Sundaland. Since these models were proposed, the whole of Sumatra has been mapped and units correlated with the Woyla Group have been recognised throughout western Sumatra. These units are reviewed and the validity of their correlation with the Woyla Group of northern Sumatra is assessed. From this review a revised synthesis for the Late Mesozoic tectonic evolution of the southwestern margin of Sundaland is proposed.  相似文献

中国东北及邻区大陆边缘包括两个构造带。内带由裂解的古陆碎块组成,其北部与古亚洲洋的演化有关,南部与古太平洋演化有关。外带由中生代地体组成。它们是晚古生代到早中生代的洋壳碎块与晚中生代的深海沟堆积组成的混杂体带。古亚洲洋封闭后到现代太平洋板块活动前,即由泥盆纪到侏罗纪曾存在过另一个大洋-古太平洋,其洋底扩张活动形成了上述的构造带。晚侏罗世后本区发育左旋平移断裂系,晚白垩世一早第三纪形成了大陆缘火山-  相似文献

Continents evolve from ocean basins through a complex series of events. The early stages involve development of greenstone belts, island arcs, marginal basins, etc. These diverse assemblages are swept together during orogenic events, and during this process it is common that continental fragments and other exotic blocks, possibly from considerable distances, may be incorporated in the final agglomeration. The event that causes stabilization (cratonization) is intrusion of post-orogenic, silicic, plutonic rocks, which weld the various fragments into a shield. Shield uplift commonly occurs a few tens of millions of years after stabilization.The process of shield formation has occurred throughout geologic history at different places on the earth, and it is possible to recognize places currently at different stages of the evolutionary pattern. Four examples discussed in this paper are: (1) the Archean craton of southern India; (2) the late Proterozoic/ early Phanerozoic craton of northeastern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula; (3) the portion of the western United States west of inferred Precambrian basement; and (4) the eastern Caribbean, which is considered to be just starting its progress toward continental character.The evolutionary process requires continual increment of lithophilic elements into upper mantle source regions for the shield-forming assemblages. This compositional change may result from continual differentiation of lithophile elements out of the lower mantle, which must be considered as having an essential role in the formation of continental crust.  相似文献

库鲁克塔格南华系记录了塔里木北缘同期的火山-沉积事件和蚀源区物质组成及演化的信息。该区不同剖面内南华系各组砂岩碎屑组分的统计分析显示,贝义西组砂岩在不同剖面内组成差异显著:西山口剖面以岩屑砂岩为主,且岩屑为火山岩岩屑与沉积岩岩屑,物源为再旋回地层,而依格孜塔格剖面以长石砂岩和岩屑长石砂岩为主,岩屑主要为变质岩岩屑,物源为下伏古元古代高级变质岩。砂岩碎屑组成在剖面上垂向的变化表明贝义西组沉积期与照壁山组沉积期间(725 Ma±)存在一个沉积转型事件,导致贝义西组之上的照壁山组、阿勒通沟组及特瑞艾肯组砂岩组成在不同区域趋于一致,转变为代表基底隆起-过渡大陆区物源的典型“长石砂岩”。南华系砂岩碎屑组成与大陆裂谷盆地沉积砂岩相似,且物源区存在由前裂谷地层-过渡裂谷肩部-切割裂谷肩部-克拉通内部的连续演化过程,是库满凹陷早期裂解的岩相学记录。  相似文献

REE geochemistry has been studied of sea-floor sediments of the continental shelf of the East China Sea. The average content of RE2O3 is estimated at 175 ppm based on 68 sediment samples from the continental shelf. The absolute concentrations of Y and La-Lu in the sediments are shown in Table 3. The REE distribution patterns in the sediments demonstrate a distinct depletion in Eu and a negative slope. It is considered that the fragments of Mesozoie intermediate-acid igneous rocks widely distributed in southeastern China are the main source of REE in sea-floor sediments of the East China Sea continental shelf.  相似文献

Mountain belts are constructed over periods of hundreds of millions of years from unrelated fragments carried across the ocean basins from distant sites, to be accreted along continental margins. Continental collision is an incidental rather than a necessary requirement for orogeny. Palaeogeographical reconstructions using the present geographical relationships of the fragments which make up orogenic belts are doomed to failure.  相似文献

Melilitites were found for the first time in the alkaline volcanics of the Gorringe bank. With allowance for previous studies, this indicates the existence of a common melilitite-nephelinite-phonolite alkaline series, which is widely spread as lava fields, dikes, and diatremes in the continental magmatic provinces of Europe, Africa, Asia, and America, often accompanying the formation of carbonatite complexes. This is considered as one of the evidence in support of the continental nature of the alkaline volcanism of the bank. The fact that the volcanics contain fragments of plutonic rocks, which are usually observed in the carbonatitebearing alkaline complexes (melteigites, ijolites, nepheline syenites), makes it possible to suggest the presence of alkaline intrusions of such type at a shallow depth.  相似文献

Rodinia was initially defined as a long‐lived supercontinent that assembled all the continental fragments around Laurentia and remained stable from 1000 up to 750 Ma. Nonetheless, recent work has cast doubt on the Rodinia palaeogeography and even on the timing of its assembly and break‐up. The geochronological and palaeomagnetic databases accumulated for South America and Africa in the last decade show that most of these continental fragments were not part of Rodinia. A wide Brasiliano Ocean separated most of the South American and African cratons from the Laurentia ? Amazonia ? Rio Apa ?West Africa margin. This ocean was closed between 940 and 630 Ma along the Pampean–Paraguay–Araguaia–Pharusian mobile belts. Moreover, accretion along the South American and African platforms was a diachronous and long‐lived process that involved several intra‐oceanic and continental magmatic arcs and microcontinents. This evolution started at around 1000 Ma and ended at around 520 Ma with the final assembly of Gondwana.  相似文献
