Identifications of 5CI radio sources with optical objects are given. The identification rates amount to 44 and 30 per cent up to the limiting magnitude of about 21m in R and B, respectively. The objects are to about equal parts galaxies, blue starlike objects, and “unclassified objects” (presumably mostly faint galaxies and less pronounced blue objects). For every proposed identification a reliability and for the identification samples the reliability and the completeness are given. Some inaccuracies in the use of a statistical method, proposed in a previous paper, have been removed; two additional means of statistical treatment have been applied to discuss the data.  相似文献

We present CCD VIC photometry in a field 1.9 − 1.3 square arcmin and positioned about 3 arcmin north-east of the centre of M82. More than 100 stars have been identified and measured above the photometric limits V = 23m.5, I = 22m. Most of the objects fainter than V ≈︁ 20m should be members of M82 as expected from the statistics of foreground stars. Starlike as well as 2–3 somewhat diffuse objects - candidates of globular clusters - preferentially occupy yellow colours in the colour-magnitude diagram; extreme blue and red objects are missing. The colour-magnitude diagram indicates continuing star formation in this part of the disk. The absence of blue stars is caused by reddening; no convincing explanation is found for the missing red supergiants. Young stars are distributed throughout the whole field, the youngest being concentrated in associations at the SW edge of the field. To cope with the very irregular background created by the galaxy' s main body and with the low contrast of many of the stars against this background, a modified photometric method is introduced in which the background is estimated using the intensities in a ring drawn very tightly around the star in the wings of the point spread function.  相似文献

A sample of ultraviolet excess objects in a 12.56 square degree field near α = 9h40m, δ = +50° (5C1-radio survey) is presented. In addition to starlike or and nearly starlike objects a sample of more diffuse ones is listed, presumably containing many Markarjan-type galaxies. UBV-photometry and first spectroscopic results are communicated; the number magnitude relation and the projected number-density of the objects are shortly discussed.  相似文献

The distributionsf(z) of the redshifts for active galaxies (Seyfert galaxies, radio galaxies, and quasars) have been studied. Some statistically-significant maxima and minima are observed in the distributionsf(z) for these objects. The significance of peaks and gaps increases for the brighter objects, for which the samples are more complete. The clustering of the Seyfert galaxies is significantly different from that of the nearby normal galaxies. The distributionf(z) for the radio galaxies is similar to the analogous distribution for the galaxy clusters. Three of the five peaks in the distributionf(z) for the radio quasars may be caused by the selection effects. Two peaks within the intervalsz (0.5, 0.7) and (1.0, 1.1) are probably real. The corresponding scales of the QSO clustering along the line-of-sight are about 100h –1 Mpc (h is the Hubble constant in the units of 75 km s–1 Mpc–1). The possibility of some global quasi-periodical cycles for the processes of activity is discussed. The period of a cycle for the Seyfert and radio galaxies is about 1×108 years that corresponds to the distances of about 30h –1 Mpc between the shells.  相似文献

A 20cm 2 CCD mosaic camera has been especially built to search for dark galactic halo objects by the gravitational microlensing effect. The sensitive area is made of 16 edge-buttable CCDs developped by Thomson-CTS, with 23×23 µm 2 pixels. The 35 kg camera housing and mechanical equipment is presented. The associated electronics and data acquisition system are described in a separate paper. The camera resides at the focal plane of a 40 cm, f/10, Ferson reflector. The instrument has been in operation since December 1991 at the La Silla Observatory (ESO).  相似文献

The low-dispersion spectra of the First Byurakan Survey and the red and blue images of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey have been used to identify optically 100 infrared sources from the IRAS Point Source Catalog. The work was carried out over the region 3h 50m ≤ α ≤ 7h 40m and +69° ≤ δ −73° with an area of 75 square degrees. The optical coordinates, their deviations from the infrared coordinates, V magnitudes, color indices, preliminary classes for all the objects, and a number of remarks on interesting objects are presented. Three objects were found to be quasars, 36 are galaxies (including Seyferts and an interacting pair), 5 are faint planetary nebulae, 9 are carbon stars, and 47 are stars of late M subclasses. The maximum volume of the closed Friedmann universe is further investigated and is shown to be 22 R 3 (t), instead of 2 R 3 (t) as found previously. This discrepancy comes from the incomplete use of the volume formula of 3-dimensional spherical space in the astronomical literature. Mathematically, there exists the maximum volume at any cosmic timet in a 3-dimensional spherical case. However, the Friedmann closed universe in expansion reaches its maximum volume only at the timet m of the maximum scale factorR(t m ). The particle horizon has no limitation for the farthest objects in the closed Friedmann universe if the proper distance of objects is compared with the particle horizon as it should be. It will lead to absurdity if the luminosity distance of objects is compared with the proper distance of the particle horizon.  相似文献

The eighth list of blue stellar objects in the second part of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey (FBS) is presented. The objects are located in the zone +65° +69° and 5 h 15m 18 h 05m.The list contains data on 98 blue stellar objects detected, of which 73 are previously unknown. A preliminary classification of the objects is given. The exact coordinates of the centers and the limiting magnitudes of the plates for this zone have been determined using the charts of the Palomar Sky Survey.Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 37, No. 2, pp. 197–206, April–June, 1994.This work has been performed with financial support of the ESO C&EE fund (A-02-043).  相似文献

From the characteristic actions (s), we can derive various relations between the basic characteristic quantities of objects and the fundamental constants in known physical laws. The main physical processes which lead to the formation of objects should be included in some such reletions through the fundamental constants. The problem of the origin of galaxies has been considered on the basis of the theory of actions (s). It has been shown that in addition to gravitational effect, the dissipation process of the adiabatic density perturbations arising from the Thomson scattering in the early universe is a crucial process in forming galaxies; and if the Hubble constant has a valueH 0 50 km s–1 Mpc–1, the protogalaxies might be formed just before recombination.  相似文献

Part five of optically identified point sources from the IRAS Point Source Catalog (PSC) contains data on 19 late-type stars. The identifications were based on the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS), the First Byurakan Survey (FBS), blue and red maps of the Palomar survey (POSS), and infrared fluxes at 12, 25, 60, and 100 mm in the region of +61° ≤ δ ≤ +65° and 05 h 30 m ≤ α ≤ 18 h 35 m with an area of 357 sq. deg. Of the 76 objects given in the IRAS PSC as unidentified sources of infrared radiation, 51 are associated with known stars in existing catalogs, 6 are objects from the FBS of late-type stars, and 19 sources remained unknown in the optical range. For the identified stars we determined the optical coordinates, their departures from the IR coordinates, the Vstellar magnitudes, the color indices CI,and the preliminary spectral subtypes. The objects have optical magnitudes in the range of 8 m −16 m .Gas-dust shells are assumed to exist around four of the sources. Finder charts from the DSS are given for 19 of the objects. Current cold dark matter models of structure formation make a clear prediction for cosmic structures in the Dark Ages. We discuss the formation and nature of the first collapsed and first luminous objects in the universe arising in these theories. The first virialized objects are dark matter halos at the free streaming length which depends on the mass and nature of the assumed weakly interacting massive particle. The first objects that also contain significant fractions of gas have masses of the cosmological Jeans scale ∼ 104M at the redshifts of interest (z ∼ 30). The first pre-galactic objects that host stars have masses of 106 M . This mass scale is given by the requirement of a sufficiently high virial temperature to enable the chemical reactions necessary to form molecular hydrogen which subsequently allows the gas to dissipate its gravitational energy and to collapse to form a star. An individual massive star is formed per such object and explodes in a supernova within a few Myrs. All these stages of the formation of the first objects are illustrated by fully resolved three dimensional cosmological hydrodynamic simulations. This revised version was published online in September 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We start from our extended scenario for the formation of astronomical objects from fragmenting macroscopic superstrings, and we combine it with our view of an “orderly” fragmentation applied to the formation of black holes (Brosche, Lentes & Tassie 2003), now to the whole objects: the radial order of the matter should be preserved. Then we have to adapt the value of the superstring tension derived from the observed ratios of κ = (angular momentum)/(mass squared). If we calculate potential energies on the basis of a fragmentation until baryonic elementary particles, it turns out that the changed string tension explains as well the mechanical state of observed astronomical objects (without large energy loss on the way from the parent string parts) as also the fraction of bound to unbound matter (about 1:10). The implied superstring tension is about μ = (1/3000) c 2/G . This corresponds to a string tension of 4 × 1040 Newton. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We present the tenth list of blue stellar objects of the second part of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey (FBS). The list contains 100 objects in the region+73°+80° and3 h 30 m 18 h 30 m encompassing an area of 355 square degrees. The objects have stellar V magnitude within the limits 12.0–18.5 and B-V colors between–0.77 and+0.37. Of these 100 objects, 80 were discovered for the first time. We give the equatorial coordinates, stellar V magnitude, color index CI, and preliminary classification of the objects on the basis of low-disperion prismatic spectra. For 29 objects we give approximate types, among which 4 are candidates for quasars, 2 for Seyfert galaxies, 1 for superassociation galaxy IC 381, 18 for white dwarfs, and 4 for cataclysmic variables.Translated fromAstrofizika, Vol. 38, No. 2, 1995.  相似文献

We present results of an optical and near‐infrared (IR) 1.8 deg2 survey in the Pleiades open cluster to search for substellar objects. From optical I ‐band images from the CFHT and J ‐band images from the 3.5m CAHA Telescope, we identify 18 faint and very red L brown dwarf candidates, with I > 20.9 and I – J > 3.2. The follow‐up observations of nine objects in the H ‐ and K s‐bands confirm that eight belong to the IR sequence of the cluster and the proper motion measurements of seven candidates confirm that they are Pleiades members. A preliminary estimation of the substellar mass spectrum dN/ dM in the form of a power law M cα provides α = +0.57 ± 0.14. We extrapolate this function to estimate the number of planetary mass objects that could be present in the cluster down to 1 MJup. Sensitive searches combining far red and near‐IR observations may unveal these objects in a near future. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

O-rich SRa and SRb variables have been observed in the12CO(1-0) and (2-1) lines. A total of 40 stars were observed and 19 detections can be reported. The majority of the objects are weak in CO and have envelopes with small expansion velocities between 1.9 to 15.6 km/s. No correlation is found between period and expansion velocity for the short period objects whereas a trend may be present for the long period ones.Supported by the AustrianFWF, project number P 9638-AST. The results of photometry and polarimetry of the R Coronae Borealis type stars and other interesting objects are given. The observation of the former objects are obtained at the light maximum or at a brightness lower by 2-3 mag. The polarization of R CrB stars at light maximum has interstellar origin. The absolute magnitude of V 854 Cen is estimated to Msvw = −3m, and for Y Mus it is Mv > −3m.7. ρ Cas has a variable polarization and is probably a giant (Mv ≅ 0m) rather than a supergiant. Many early stars in its surroundings are photometrically and polarimetrically variable. The protoplanetary star BD −0°3679 has a polarization with the Rayleigh component.  相似文献

We present the ninth list of blue stellar objects of the second part of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey (FBS). We publish 61 objects in the zone +69+73, 3 h 50m18 h 10 m and 23 additional objects from the previous 5 zones of the survey. Of the 84 objects, 64 are discovered for the first time. We give the equatorial coordinates, stellar V magnitudes, color indices, and preliminary classes of the objects with respect to slitless low-dispersion spectra. For the 23 objects we give approximate types, among which there are 5 candidates for quasars, one for a Seyfert galaxy, 3 UV-excess galaxies, 9 white dwarfs, 4 cataclysmic variables and one probable planetary nebula.Translated fromAstrofizika, Vol. 37, No. 3, 1994.The authors are grateful to the American Astronomical Society for support of the present paper.  相似文献

The eleventh list of blue stellar objects in the second part of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey (FBS) is presented. The list consists of 64 objects located in the region +80 +90° and 2h 08m a 20h 15m. The objects haveV magnitudes in the range 12.3–17.4 andB–V color indices in the range -0.55-+0.55. Of the 98 objects, 56 are newly discovered. Tentative classifications are given for 28 objects, of which there is one planetary nebula, 6 possible quasars, 15 possible white dwarfs, and 6 possible cataclysmic variables. Two of the latter are possibly novae having erupted at the epoch of exposure of the FBS plates in this region.Translated fromAstrofizika, Vol. 39, No. 4, pp. 531–540, November, 1996.  相似文献

Some requirements are discussed for solid hydrogen formation in cold dark dense clouds in galaxies. If temperatures in the clouds are near the microwave background temperature of 2.7 K and molecular hydrogen densities are 3×105 cm–3 or higher, as suggested by recent observations, it may be possible for solid hydrogen objects to form. Comet size hydrogen solids could build from molecular hydrogen condensation on grains and by collisions. Heated primarily by cosmic rays, objects with 100 km radii could last billions of years. The larger objects may be detectable, in the future, by sensitive gravitational lensing or eclipsing observations. Other possibilities are discussed for future detection of the cold dark dense molecular hydrogen regions. In our model, helium is added along with the hydrogen to preserve the primordial helium to hydrogen mass ratio,Y p , of the standard model. In the hot regions of the universe the solid hydrogen objects sublime and melt so our model predictsY p =0.250, the same as other baryonic dark matter models with identical values of =0.1,H o =50 and =6.8×10–10. This value cannot be ruled out at present because of the large systematic uncertainties in the observed value of 0.232. In the cold dark regions where solid hydrogen objects exist, we predict thatY p will be greater than 0.250. Observations are not yet sensitive enough to measure this ratio.  相似文献

The M17SW molecular cloud core has been mapped at high resolution in the C17OJ = 3 2 transition and in 450, 600, 800, 1100 and 1300µm continuum emission, using the JCMT. The clumpy nature of the cloud core is clearly revealed and the northern condensation has been resolved into 3 main clumps, each of which lies close to an H2O maser, suggesting that they may contain young embedded stellar objects.  相似文献
