The low-temperature heat capacity of -Mg2PO4OH was measured between 10 and 400 K by adiabatic calorimetry. No phase transition was observed over this temperature range. A relative enthalpy increment of 22,119 J mol–1 and an absolute entropy value of 127.13±0.25 J mol–1 K–1 at 298.15 K are derived from the results. The low-temperature heat-capacity data are compared with the DSC data obtained from 143 K to 775 K and show marginal differences in the common temperature range. The latter data are fitted by the polynomial
which allows extrapolation to high temperatures.Software information: WINDOWS operating system, WORD word processing, SigmaPlot diagrams exported in tiff format.  相似文献

Activity-composition relations in the olivine solid solutions Ni2SiO4 -Mg2SiO4 and Co2SiO4-Mg2SiO4 have been determined at 1200 K and 0.1 MPa and at 1573 K and 0.5 GPa by equilibration with the corresponding oxide solutions. Both olivine solutions show small positive deviations from ideal (two site) mixing, which, within the limits of accuracy of the method, may be described by the simple regular solution model with parameters WNi+Mgol= 0.35 ± 1.0 kJ/g-atom and WCo-Mgol = 1.37 ± 0.9 kJ/g-atom. The requirements of internal consistency between the two systems also show that the recent determination by Brousse et al. (1984) of the enthalpy of formation of Mg2SiO4is to be preferred over earlier work, and that their value is also probably more accurate than the uncertainty in their own measurements indicates; activities in the NiO-MgO system are close to ideal.  相似文献

In situ Raman spectra of hydrous wadsleyite (β-Mg2SiO4) with ~1.5 wt% H2O, synthesized at 18 GPa and 1,400°C, have been measured in an externally heated diamond anvil cell up to 15.5 GPa and 673 K. With increasing pressure (at room temperature), the three most intense bands at ~549, 720 and 917 cm−1 shift continuously to higher frequencies, while with increasing temperature at 14.5 GPa, these bands generally shift to lower frequencies. The temperature-induced frequency shifts at 14.5 GPa are significantly different from those at ambient pressure. Moreover, two new bands at ~714 and ~550 cm−1 become progressively significant above 333 and 553 K, respectively, and disappear upon cooling to room temperature. No corresponding Raman modes of these two new bands were reported for wadsleyite at ambient conditions, and they are thus probably related to thermally activated processes (vibration modes) at high-pressure and temperature conditions.  相似文献

The second-order elastic constants up to 30 GPa, which encompass the stability field of the spinel forms, their pressure derivatives and the third-order elastic constants of both hydrous and anhydrous -Mg2SiO4 have been obtained theoretically. A combination of deformation theory and finite strain elasticity theory has been employed to arrive at the expressions for second-order and third-order elastic constants from the strain energy of the lattice. The strain energy is calculated by taking into account the interactions up to second nearest neighbours in the -Mg2SiO4 lattice. This is then compared with the strain-dependent lattice energy from continuum model approximation to obtain the expression of elastic constants. The second-order elastic constants Cij compare favourably with the measurements in the case of anhydrous as well as hydrous -Mg2SiO4 and with other calculations on the anhydrous phase. All the third-order elastic constants of both the compounds are negative. The third-order elastic constant C144(–52.41 and –45.07 GPa for anhydrous and hydrous -Mg2SiO4, respectively) representing the anisotropy of shear mode has a smaller value than C111 (–2443.94 and –2101.25 GPa for anhydrous and hydrous phases, respectively), which corresponds to the longitudinal mode. The pressure-induced variations in the longitudinal elastic constants (i.e.,dC11/dp) are relatively large (4.08 and 4.09 for dry and hydrous ringwoodite, respectively) compared with those for the shear (0.22 and 0.32 for dry and hydrous ringwoodite, respectively) and off-diagonal constants (1.40 and 1.41 for dry and hydrous ringwoodite, respectively). The variation of the shear moduli Cs and anisotropy factor A with pressure have also been studied. The average value of elastic anisotropy is 0.835 in the case of anhydrous -Mg2SiO4 and 0.830 in the hydrous phase. The reversal of sign of the Cauchy pressure C12 – C44, which describes the angular character of atomic bonding in metals and other compounds, at around 21 GPa for both the compounds may be a precursor to the phase transition from ringwoodite to periclase and perovskite at an elevated temperature. The aggregate elastic properties like the adiabatic bulk modulus K (175.4 and 150.2 GPa for anhydrous and hydrous phases, respectively), and the isotropic compressional (P) and shear (S) wave velocities were calculated and the mode Grüneisen Parameters (GPs) of the acoustic waves were determined based on the quasi-harmonic approximation. The low temperature limit of both hydrous and anhydrous phases of -Mg2SiO4 are positive (1.69 and 1.78, respectively, for hydrous and anhydrous phases) and hence we expect the thermal expansion to be positive down to absolute zero. The Anderson–Grüneisen parameter obtained for hydrous as well as anhydrous phases of -Mg2SiO4 from the second-order and third-order elastic constants are 2.30 and 2.29, respectively.  相似文献

The structure of a single crystal hydrous ringwoodite, Mg1.89Si0.98H0.30O4 synthesized at conditions of 1300?°C and 20?GPa has been analyzed. Crystallographic data for hydrous ringwoodite obtained are; Cubic with Space group: Fd3m (no. 227). a= 8.0693(5)?Å, V=526.41(9)?Å3, Z=8, Dcalc= 3.48?g?cm?3. The results of site occupancy refinement using higher angle reflections showed the existence of a small degree of Mg2+-Si4+ disorder in the structure such as (Mg1.84Si0.050.11)(Si0.93Mg0.050.02)H0.30O4. The IR and Raman spectra were measured and OH vibration spectra were observed. A broad absorption band was observed in the IR spectrum and the maxima were observed at 3160?cm?1 in the IR and at 3165?cm?1 and 3685?cm?1 in relatively sharp Raman spectra, which suggest that locations between O-O pairs around the octahedral 16c and 16d sites are possible sites for hydrogen.  相似文献

The crystal structures of the two hydrous wadsleyite crystals with formulae, Mg1.75SiH0.50O4 (0.5H–β) and Mg1.86SiH0.28O4 (0.3H–β) have been analyzed in this study. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction data showed that the unit cells of the 0.3H–β and the 0.5H–β are metrically monoclinic with a slight distortion from the orthorhombic cell but their intensity distributions conform to the orthorhombic symmetry within the limit of experimental errors. The Fourier and the difference Fourier syntheses were calculated. Small but significant Fourier peaks were found at the site, Si2, in a normally vacant tetrahedral void adjacent to Mg3 site as reported for the monoclinic hydrous wadsleyite by Smyth et al.. From the comparison of the hydrous and anhydrous wadsleyite structures, the Mg-vacant structural modules were found to be the building units for the structure of hydrous wadsleyite. The dilution of symmetry from orthorhombic to monoclinic in the hydrous wadsleyite structure is interpreted qualitatively due to lack of mirror perpendicular to the a axis in the module. The mode of arrangement of the Mg-vacant structural modules interprets the symmetry and hydrogen content of the hydrous wadsleyite and gives the structural relationship between hydrous wadsleyite and hydrous ringwoodite. Detailed phase relations have been determined within the systems Fe2O3-MgO-TiO2 and FeO-MgO-TiO2. Experiments were performed over the temperature interval 1173–1473 K by equilibrating pelletized, fine-grained oxide mixtures in either inert calcia-stabilized zirconia pots (Fe2O3-MgO-TiO2 system) or evacuated silica tubes (FeO-MgO-TiO2 system). Equilibrium phase assemblages were determined by combined optical microscope, X-ray diffraction and EMP examination. Phase relations in the Fe2O3-MgO-TiO2 ternary are dominated by the instability of the M2O3 solid solution relative to the phase assemblage M3O4 + M3O5. A miscibility gap along the M2O3 binary also gives rise to two, 3-phase fields (α-M2O3 + M3O5 + M3O4 and α′-M2O3 + M3O5 + M3O4) separated by the M3O4 + M3O5 phase field. Phase relations in the FeO-MgO-TiO2 ternary were divided into two sub-systems. For the FeTiO3-MgTiO3-TiO2 sub-ternary, there is complete solid solution along the M2O3 and M3O5 binary joins at high temperature. At low temperatures (T < 1373 K) the M3O5 pseudobrookite solid solution decomposes to M2O3 + TiO2. Increasing the concentration of MgO in M3O5 phase results in a decrease in the temperature at which M3O5 becomes unstable and compositional tie lines linking M2O3 and TiO2 fan out, before the appearance of a three-phase region where M2O3, M3O5, and TiO2 coexist. Within the expanded FeO-MgO-TiO2 system, at temperatures above ∼1273 K there is a continuous solid solution along the M3O4 binary. At low temperatures (T < 1273 K) the Mg2TiO4 end-member breaks down to MgO and MgTiO3. The M3O4 phase shows significant non-stoichiometry, down to at least 1173 K. Fe2+-Mg partitioning data were obtained for coexisting M2O3-M3O5 and M2O3-M3O4 pairs in the FeO-MgO-TiO2 ternary. Assuming a regular solution mixing model for all phases, the M2O3 and M3O4 solid solutions were both found to exhibit moderate positive deviations from ideality (∼2600 J/mol), whereas the data for the M3O5 binary suggest close to ideal behaviour. Liquidus phase relations in the system diopside–kalsilite–forsterite–quartz with 3 wt% F were examined at 1 bar and the locations of important invariant points were determined at 18 kbar. At all pressures within this range a large liquidus field for fluorphlogopite (Phl) exists, and has a large influence on both melting and fractionation processes. One eutectic point was found to the silica-rich side of the plane Lc–Fo–Di at Di1Ks30Fo2Qz67, where a melt coexists with San, Qz, Phl and Di at 840 °C and 1 bar. Another eutectic point must exist in the silica-poor part of the system because the phase topology determines that thermal barriers must exist. At this point a feldspathoid, either Lc or Ks, must coexist with Fo, Phl and a Ca-bearing phase such as Di. The exact location and phase assemblage were not determined, but the equilibrium melt must have a composition rich in Di (>29 wt%) and extremely poor in Qz (<8 wt%). The composition of the first eutectic moves towards lower SiO2 contents with increasing pressure (Di3Ks40Fo1Qz56 at 18 kbar), whereas the second does not exist at 18 kbar due to the disappearance of Lc as a stable liquidus phase. Liquids which coexist with mafic minerals such as En, Fo, Phl and Di are important for the genesis of potassium-rich mafic rocks by partial melting in the mantle and for the early stages of fractional crystallisation. The equilibrium melt at the invariant point Fo + En + Phl + Di + L at 1125 °C is very poor in Fo and Di components at atmospheric pressure (Di5Ks37Fo5Qz53), whereas at 18 kbar the melt contains large amounts of Fo and Di (Di19Ks31- Fo28Qz21), and has a composition close to that of natural lamproites. Kamafugites do not correspond to melts in this system under any of the studied conditions, and appear to require CO2 in the source. Fractionation processes from primitive potassic basanite melts are controlled principally by the size (and not the mere presence) of the liquidus phase field for phlogopite: at high pressures where the Phl field is large, olivine is eliminated early from the fractionating assemblage and Cpx + Phl fractionation may lead to relatively silica-rich rock differentiates such as trachytes. At low pressures, extensive olivine and restricted Phl crystallisation prevents silica enrichment in the melt, resulting in phonolitic differentiates. Later crystallisation of alkali feldspar accentuates the trends laid down in the early stages of fractionation. Received: 2 February 1999 / Accepted: 14 October 1999  相似文献

Mössbauer spectra (MS) of anapaite (Ca2 Fe2+(PO4)2?·?4H2O) and of a sample after being immersed in a 4% H2O2 solution at room temperature (RT) over 12 days (hereafter an4ox) were collected at temperatures in the range 4.2 to 420?K and 11 to 300?K respectively. All MS consist of symmetrical doublets, hence magnetic ordering was not observed. The temperature dependencies of the Fe2+ centre shifts of anapaite and an4ox were analysed with the Debye model for the lattice vibrations. The characteristic Mössbauer temperatures were found as 370?K?±?25?K and 340?K?±?25?K, and the intrinsic isomer shifts as 1.427?±?0.005?mm/s and 1.418?±?0.005?mm/s respectively. From the external-field (60?kOe) MS recorded at 4.2 and 189?K for the non-treated sample, the principal component V zz of the electric field gradient (EFG) is determined to be positive and the asymmetry parameter η?≈?0.2 and 0.4 respectively. The temperature variations of the quadrupole splittings, ΔE Q(T), cannot be interpreted on the basis of the thermal population of the 5 D electronic levels resulting from the tetragonal compression of the O6 co-ordination. The low-temperature linear behaviour of ΔE Q(T) is attributed to a strong orbit-lattice coupling. A field of 60 kOe applied to anapaite at 4.2?K produces magnetic hyperfine splitting with effective hyperfine fields of ?136, ?254 and ?171?kOe along the principal axes Ox, Oy and Oz of the EFG tensor respectively. Additional oxidation treatments in solutions with various H2O2 concentrations up to 20% and subsequent Mössbauer experiments at room temperature, have revealed that the anapaite structure is not sensitive to oxidation since eventually only a small amount of Fe2+ (~6.5%) is converted into Fe3+.  相似文献

Using single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 293, 200 and 100 K, and neutron diffraction at 50 K, we have refined the positions of all atoms, including hydrogen atoms (previously undetermined), in the structure of coquimbite ( $ P {\bar 3}1c $ , a?=?10.924(2)/10.882(2) Å, c?=?17.086(3) / 17.154(3) Å, V?=?1765.8(3)/1759.2(5) Å3, at 293 / 50 K, respectively). The use of neutron diffraction allowed us to determine precise and accurate hydrogen positions. The O–H distances in coquimbite at 50 K vary between 0.98 and 1.01 Å. In addition to H2O molecules coordinated to the Al3+ and Fe3+ ions, there are rings of six “free” H2O molecules in the coquimbite structure. These rings can be visualized as flattened octahedra with the distance between oxygen and the geometric center of the polyhedron of 2.46 Å. The hydrogen-bonding scheme undergoes no changes with decreasing temperature and the unit cell shrinks linearly from 293 to 100 K. A review of the available data on coquimbite and its “dimorph” paracoquimbite indicates that paracoquimbite may form in phases closer to the nominal composition of Fe2(SO4)3·9H2O. Coquimbite, on the other hand, has a composition approximating Fe1.5Al0.5(SO4)3·9H2O. Hence, even a “simple” sulfate Fe2-x Al x (SO4)3·9H2O may be structurally rather complex.  相似文献

Two synthetic series of spinels, MgCr2O4–Fe2+Cr2O4 and MgCr2O4–MgFe2 3+O4 have been studied by Raman spectroscopy to investigate the effects of Fe2+ and Fe3+ on their structure. In the first case, where Fe2+ substitutes Mg within the tetrahedral site, there is a continuous and monotonic shift of the Raman modes A1g and Eg toward lower wavenumbers with the increase of the chromite component into the spinel, while the F2g modes remain nearly in the same position. In the second series, for low Mg-ferrite content, Fe3+ substitutes for Cr in the octahedral site; when the Mg-ferrite content nears 40 %, a drastic change in the Raman spectra occurs as Fe3+ starts entering the tetrahedral site as well, consequently pushing Mg to occupy the octahedral one. The Raman spectral region between 620 and 700 cm?1 is associated to the octahedral site, where three peaks are present and it is possible to observe the Cr–Fe3+ substitution and the effects of order–disorder in the tetrahedral site. The spectral range at 500–620 cm?1 region shows that there is a shift of modes toward lower values with the increase of the Mg-ferrite content. The peaks in the region at 200–500 cm?1, when observed, show little or negligible Raman shift.  相似文献

Epochs of changing atmospheric CO2 and seawater CO2–carbonic acid system chemistry and acidification have occurred during the Phanerozoic at various time scales. On the longer geologic time scale, as sea level rose and fell and continental free board decreased and increased, respectively, the riverine fluxes of Ca, Mg, DIC, and total alkalinity to the coastal ocean varied and helped regulate the C chemistry of seawater, but nevertheless there were major epochs of ocean acidification (OA). On the shorter glacial–interglacial time scale from the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) to late preindustrial time, riverine fluxes of DIC, total alkalinity, and N and P nutrients increased and along with rising sea level, atmospheric PCO2 and temperature led, among other changes, to a slightly deceasing pH of coastal and open ocean waters, and to increasing net ecosystem calcification and decreasing net heterotrophy in coastal ocean waters. From late preindustrial time to the present and projected into the 21st century, human activities, such as fossil fuel and land-use emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere, increasing application of N and P nutrient subsidies and combustion N to the landscape, and sewage discharges of C, N, P have led, and will continue to lead, to significant modifications of coastal ocean waters. The changes include a rapid decline in pH and carbonate saturation state (modern problem of ocean acidification), a shift toward dissolution of carbonate substrates exceeding production, potentially leading to the “demise” of the coral reefs, reversal of the direction of the sea-to-air flux of CO2 and enhanced biological production and burial of organic C, a small sink of anthropogenic CO2, accompanied by a continuous trend toward increasing autotrophy in coastal waters.  相似文献

A new mineral, jichengite ideally 3CuIr2S4·(Ni,Fe)9S8, was found as a constituent of placer concentrates at a branch of the Luanhe River, about 220 km NNE of Beijing. Its associated minerals are chromite, magnetite, ilmenite, zircon, native gold, iridium, ferrian platinum and osmium. The placer is distributed at places around ultrabasic rock, which hosts chromite orebodies, from which PGM originated. Jichengite occurs commonly as massive or granular aggregates. No perfect morphology of jichengite was observed. It is steel gray and opaque with metallic luster and black streak. It has a Mohs hardness of 5, VHN (d) μm 21.65, Hm 4.465, Hv = 268.1 N/um2. It is brittle and weakly magnetic. Cleavage {010} is rarely observed. No fracture was observed. Density could not be measured because of its too small grain size. Density (calc.) is 7.003 g/cm3. Reflect light is reddish-brown, without internal reflections. Anisotropism is distinct with grayish or yellowish white in crossed nicols and bluish violet-copper red in uncrossed nicols. Jichengite shows weak pleochroism and strong bireflectance. The reflectance values in air at the Standard Commission on Ore Mineralogy wavelengths are: 38.9, 34.3 at 470 nm, 38.9, 34.5 at 546 nm, 39.1, 35.3 at 590 nm, 39.2, 36.8 at 650 nm, parallel-axial extinction. The six strongest lines in the X-ray powder-diffraction pattern [d in ?, (I), (hkl)] are: 3.00 (100) (116), 2.80 (50) (205), 2.48. (50) (208), 1.916 (40) (2, 1, 10), 1.765 (60) (220), 1.753 (50) (2, 0, 16). Five chemical analyses carried out, yielding the following results: S 25.76 (25.49-5.97), Fe 10.03 (9.78-10.31), Co 0.78 (0.75-0.81), Ni 12.48 (12.32-12.85), Cu 4.77 (4.69-4.83), Ir 46.98(46.14-47.89), sum 100.80wt%, which produced a formula (Cu1.556Fe0.976)2.532(Ir5.063S10.126)·(Fe2.7451Ni4.404Co0.273)7.422S6.517. The ideal formula is X10Ir5S17.5, which was calculated by single crystal structure analyses, where X = Cu(II) + Fe(II) + Ni(II) + Co(II). The single crystal data were collected using a diffractometer with Mo Ka radiation and a graphite monochromate. The crystal system is trigonal with space group R3m and unit cell parameters a=7.0745(14) ?, c=34.267(10) ? (The superstructure not found), and the final R Indices [with 564 observed reflections, I>2sigma (I)] are R1=0.0495, wR2=0.1349. The specimens are deposited in the Geological Museum of China.  相似文献

The synthesis boundaries of the phase transformation; ++ in (Mg0.9, Fe0.1)SiO4, have been clarified at temperatures to 2000° C and pressures up to 20 GPa in order to synthesize single crystals of high quality. A single crystal of (Mg0.9, Fe0.1)2SiO4 was grown successfully to a size of 500 m. The crystal structure has been refined from single-crystal X-ray intensities. The ferrous ions prefer M1 and M3 sites to over the larger M2 site. The volume change of all the occupied polyhedra does not contribute to the decrease of total volume in the transformation; rather it tends to increase the bulk volume through the expansion of occupied tetrahedra. The volume reduction in the phase transformations is accounted for by unoccupied polyhedra, with the octahedra contributory 60% and the tetrahedra 40% to the V of the transition. The volume change in the transformation is caused also partly by the volume decrease of MO 6 (25%), partly the unoccupied tetrahedra (45%) and octahedra (30%).  相似文献

The behaviour of two types of limestones having a different porosity, Maastricht and Euville limestone, laden with aqueous solutions of equimolar mixtures of sodium sulphate/sodium nitrate or sodium sulphate/potassium sulphate was investigated. At 50 % RH, the efflorescences on Maastricht samples during the first 30 h of drying consisted of similar amounts of thenardite and darapskite in case of an equimolar mixture of sodium sulphate/sodium nitrate while those on Euville samples under the same conditions contained mainly darapskite. After drying at 20 °C and 85 % RH, thenardite, formed through the precipitation and dehydration of mirabilite, was mostly detected in the efflorescences on both Maastricht and Euville samples. Re-wetting by increasing the RH from 50 to 85 % resulted in substantial damage on Maastricht stone laden with an equimolar mixture of sodium sulphate/sodium nitrate as a consequence of high supersaturation of mirabilite. In case of a contamination with equimolar amounts of sodium sulphate and potassium sulphate, the efflorescence on both limestones during drying at 50 % RH contained predominantly aphthitalite. The observed crystallisation behaviour is compared to the theoretical behaviour. The results indicate a strong influence of stone properties on the crystallisation behaviour of salt mixtures.  相似文献

Summary Niedermayrite, Cu4Cd(SO4)2(OH)6 · 4H2O, is a new mineral discovered in 1995 in the Km3-area of the Lavrion mining district, Greece. It forms tiny euhedral plates, commonly intergrown as green crusts up to several cm2 in size on a matrix consisting of a brecciated marble with sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, greenockite, hawleyite and pyrite. Associated secondary minerals are gypsum, malachite, chalcanthite, brochantite, hemimorphite, hydrozincite, aurichalcite, one unknown Cd-sulfate, monteponite and otavite. Niedermayrite is non-fluorescent and has a bluish-green colour with vitreous lustre, the streak is white. The crystals are brittle with perfect cleavage parallel {010}. Optics: biaxial (–) with n(calc.), n, and n =1.609, 1.642(2), and 1.661(2), respectively; orientation n//b. The calculated density is 3.292 gcm–3. The most prominent form is {010}. Analysis by electron microprobe gives CdO 16.5, CuO 45.7, SO3 21.6, H2O 16.2 wt.% (calc. to 100% sum) and the empirical formula Cu4.29Cd0.96S2.01O11.28 · 6.71 H2O (based on 18 oxygens p.f.u.). By TGA an H2O content of 18.9 wt.% was obtained. The ideal formula (confirmed by the crystal structure refinement) is Cu4Cd(SO4)2(OH)6 · 4H2O with a theoretical H2O content of 17.2 wt.%. The strongest lines in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern (Gandolfi camera, visually estimated I, refined lattice parameters a = 5.535(2), b = 21.947(9), c = 6.085(2) Å, = 91.98(3)°) are: (dobs[Å]/Iobs/hkl) (11.02/90/0 2 0), (5.874/20/0 1 1), (5.496/100/0 4 0), (5.322/25/0 2 1), (4.079/50/0 4 1), (3.660/20/0 6 0), (3. 437/30/1 5 0), (3.243/40/1 4 1), (2.470/30/2 4 0), (2.425/20/1 4 –2), (2.205/20/2 6 0) and (1.897/20/1 8 2). The mineral is monoclinic, P21/m, Z = 2, a = 5.543(1) Å, b = 21.995(4) Å, c = 6.079(1) Å, = 92.04(3)°, V = 740.7(2) Å3. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray methods and was refined to R1= 0.026, wR2 = 0.056. The structure of niedermayrite is characterized by 2 [Cu4(OH)6O2]2– sheets of edgesharing Cu coordination octahedra parallel to (010) with attached SO4 tetrahedra, and intercalated CdO2(H2O)4 octahedra with a system of hydrogen bonds. Close relationships to the crystal structures of christelite and campigliaite exist. The new mineral is named for Dr. Gerhard Niedermayr, Naturhistorisches Museum Wien, Austria.
