The Marra Mamba Iron Formation is the basal member of the Hamersley Group in Western Australia and is host to major iron‐ore deposits in its upper Mt Newman Member. Previous studies have suggested that the Marra Mamba Iron Formation in the eastern Chichester Range was deposited in an isolated basin behind a barrier reef and was greatly reduced in thickness. New drilling covering a large part of the Chichester Range shows that only the lower part of the Nammuldi Member, the lowest unit of the Marra Mamba Iron Formation, remains over most of the range. However, 15 m of the Mt Newman Member, the complete MacLeod Member and the upper part of the Nammuldi Member were drilled in small north‐south synclines preserved near Mulga Downs homestead. This drilling shows that the Marra Mamba Iron Formation is similar in all respects to other occurrences in the Hamersley Province. There is no evidence of facies change or reduced thickness and therefore no evidence for a northern limit to the deposition of the Hamersley Group. Apart from the small synclines near Mulga Downs homestead, the Fortescue River alluvial deposits abutting the Chichester Range are underlain by the Roy Hill Shale Member of the Jeerinah Formation.  相似文献

塔里木盆地众多岩溶储层不整合中, 中-上奥陶统之间的不整合研究意义重大.本文以塔中隆起中-上奥陶统之间的不整合结构特征为依据, 对不整合成因机制进行了分析.研究表明, 发生在恰尔巴克组沉积期间的地壳褶皱作用控制了不整合的发育, 其分布范围受背斜控制.在背斜区, 不同层系缺失的原因存在差异, 一间房组和鹰山组的缺失是剥蚀缺失, 而恰尔巴克组的缺失是沉积缺失.成因上可将其不整合划分为同构造型和后构造型两种不整合类型.同构造不整合分布在塔中背斜型隆起两翼的恰尔巴克组与一间房组之间, 后构造不整合分布在塔中背斜型隆起顶部的良里塔格组与鹰山组之间.  相似文献

保山地块保山地区三叠系上统南梳坝组研究程度较差,以往的资料多侧重于岩石地层、生物地层的研究,沉积环境资料甚少。通过1∶5万保山幅等8幅区域地质调查,在南梳坝组中发现了灰岩滑塌岩块、下超面、饥饿沉积、水道砾岩、粒序层理、复理石韵律及槽模、沟模等一系列非常重要的沉积相资料,认为其沉积环境为斜坡-盆地环境,总体为一套浊积岩,其中的同沉积“褶皱”、同沉积断层、大量的滑塌面、各种类型的滑塌褶皱组成了3条较大规模的滑塌带,是斜坡环境的沉积物在地震作用触发下形成的,剖面结构“不合理”,明显具有灾变事件地层的特征。灰岩滑塌岩块有极浓的油气味,显示出生储存油气的良好环境。因此,重塑三叠系上统南梳坝组的古地理环境,不仅对发展沉积学、地层学有重要意义,而且对于寻找烃源岩也有重要的现实意义。  相似文献

Previously, two layers containing impact melt spherules, the Wittenoom spherule layer and the Carawine spherule layer, exposed in the main outcrop area and Oakover River area, respectively, of the Neoarchaean?–?Palaeoproterozoic Hamersley Basin of Western Australia, were correlated. Subsequent discovery and study of the Jeerinah spherule layer in the main outcrop area, as well as a new Carawine spherule layer exposure now suggest that the Carawine and Jeerinah spherule layers are correlates. The previous Wittenoom?–?Carawine correlation was based on the presence of spherules and sedimentological consistency: both layers comprise sediment gravity flows, and the Wittenoom spherule layer was interpreted as the downflow equivalent of the Carawine layer. However, the Jeerinah spherule layer also consists of sediment gravity flows, which could be related to the Carawine layer. Since all three layers reflect events triggered by oceanic impacts, these similarities are not surprising, but they do eliminate sedimentology as a correlation tool. However, two compositional trends suggest that the Carawine and Jeerinah layers are correlates: (i) the textures of their spherules are very similar and are distinctly different from the Wittenoom layer; and (ii) only the Carawine and Jeerinah layers contain irregular impact melt particles. The latter observation is strong evidence as irregular particles are unknown in any other early Precambrian spherule layers in Western Australia. While triggered by the same impact, it is unlikely that the Carawine and Jeerinah spherule layers were deposited by the same sediment gravity flows, as they contain very different intraclast populations.  相似文献

从古生物、岩石、测井等方面综合探讨了东濮凹陷北部古近系沙河街组的特征及其划分与对比。沙四下亚段和沙二段以红色砂泥岩为主,沙四上、下亚段之间为一假整合面,沙二段底部存在一较大的沉积间断面;沙四上亚段、沙三段和沙一段为灰色砂泥(页)岩夹4套盐岩,其中,沙一段和沙三段中的稳定灰质泥页岩是东濮凹陷较好的区域地层对比标志层。沙四下亚段化石稀少;沙四上亚段地方性介形类开始发育,为Cyprinotus altilis组合;沙三段以介形类Huabeinia和Candona的大量出现为特征,介形类为Huabeinia chinensis组合、沟鞭藻类为Bohaidina-Parabohaidina组合;沙二段以轮藻的空前繁盛为特征,轮藻为Charites producta组合、介形类为Cyprinotus xiaozhuangensis组合;沙一段以腹足类极其丰富为特征,腹足类为Valvata(Cincinna)rehetaiensis组合、介形类为Phacocypris huiminensis组合。前人对东濮凹陷北部古近系沙河街组各段的划分所依据的标准相同,但在确定具体界线时分歧较大,尤其是沙三段与沙四段的分界线。虽然前人均是以Cyprinotus altilis组合的上限和Huabeinia属顶峰带的下限为依据进行划分的,但因以古生物为标准划分地层的精度有限,加之当时钻井地质资料较少和断层错综复杂等,致使同一研究者在东濮凹陷的不同地区所划分的界线也不统一。本文研究指出通过层序地层学及沉积相变规律等沉积学问题的详细研究是解决该问题的关键。  相似文献

新疆中天山西段的博罗霍洛山地区,在早古生代具有裂陷带性质。上志留统博罗霍洛山组形成于该裂陷带的最后闭合阶段,具有其特殊的形成时间和沉积特征。通过对该组地层的沉积学、岩石学及地球化学等方面的分析,本文较深入地讨论了其沉积环境及其沉积构造背景。认为该组岩石为浊流沉积物,其形成与活动性较强的大陆边缘区有着密切的关系,其陆源物质来源以当时存在于裂陷带以南的具有一定陆壳厚度和中等成熟度的“伊宁古陆”区为主。  相似文献

The complex boundary between the Arnager Greensand Formation and the Arnager Limestone Formation on the island of Bornholm (Denmark) has been studied for almost a century. Despite this effort, the hiatus represented by the boundary remains poorly constrained. Using a considerable number of processed samples and thin sections the uppermost Arnager Greensand Formation is confirmed as Thalmanninella reicheli Zone age (early Middle Cenomanian) and the overlying Arnager Limestone Formation is probably early Coniacian in age. No evidence of macrofossil and microfossil assemblages indicative of the late Cenomanian or the Turonian have been recorded and there is no palaeontological or sedimentological evidence of the global late Cenomanian (Bonarelli or OAE 2) anoxic event. The significant mid-Cenomanian to early Coniacian hiatus reflects a period of sediment starvation along the line of the Sorgenfrei-Tornquist Zone in the vicinity of Bornholm.  相似文献

Asteroid impact spherule layers and tsunami deposits underlying banded iron-formations in the Fortescue and Hamersley Groups have been further investigated to test their potential stratigraphic relationships. This work has included new observations related to the ca 2.63 Ga Jeerinah Impact Layer (JIL) and impact spherules associated with the 4th Shale-Macroband of the Dales Gorge Iron Member (DGS4) of the Brockman Iron Formation. A unit of impact spherules (microkrystite) correlated with the ca 2.63 Ga JIL is observed within a >100 m-thick fragmental-intraclast breccia pile in drill cores near Roy Hill. The sequence represents significant thickening of the impact/tsunami unit relative to the JIL type section at Hesta, as well as relative to the 20–30 m-thick ca 2.63 Ga Carawine Dolomite spherule-bearing mega-breccia. The ca 2.48 Ga-old Dales Gorge Member of the Brockman Iron Formation is underlain by an ?0.5 m-thick rip-up clast breccia located at the top of the ca 2.50 Ga Mt McRae Shale, and is interpreted as a tsunami deposit. We suggest that the presence of impact ejecta and tsunami units stratigraphically beneath a number of banded iron-formations, and units of ferruginous shale in the Pilbara and South Africa may result from a genetic relationship. For example, it could be that under Archean atmospheric conditions, mafic volcanism triggered by large asteroid impacts enriched the oceans in soluble FeO. If so, seasonal microbial and/or photolytic oxidation to ferric oxide could have caused precipitation of Fe2O3 and silica. In view of the possible occurrence of depositional gaps and paraconformities between impact ejecta units and overlying ferruginous sediments, these relationships require further testing by isotopic age studies.  相似文献

The Eocene succession of the El Basatin Section in Gebel Mokattam, east of Cairo, consists, from base to top, of two main units; the Mokattam and Maadi Formations. The Mokattam Formation consists of two Members, the Building Stone Member and the Giushi Member. The Upper Building Stone Member yielded six species of Nummulites belonging to the Upper Lutetian. These species are: Nummulites farisi Hussein et al., 2004; Nummulites cf. praegizehensis Boukhary and Hussein-Kamel, 1993; Nummulites cf. gizehensis(Forsk?l, 1775); Nummulites discorbinus(Schlotheim 1820) and Arxina schwageri(Silvestri, 1928) emended by Boukhary et al. 2012 and Nummulites crassichordatus Boukhary et al., 2010. The Giushi Member yielded three species that indicate a Bartonian age. These species, which continued from their first appearance in the Upper Building Stone Members, are N. discorbinus, A. schwageri and N. crassichordatus. The Maadi Formation, which has been previously considered to be of Bartonian–Priabonian age, is devoid of fossils in the study section. The two members of the Mokattam Formation represent a carbonate platform facies. The deposition of the Upper Building Stone Member was disturbed during the Lutetian by slumping and a convolute-bedding interval, indicating a short hiatus. The subsequent regression resulted in a very shallow marine to near-shore facies in the above Maadi Formation.  相似文献

Palynology and sediment slumping in a high arctic Greenland lake   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1  
A 103-cm core from a high arctic lake (80°49'N, 15°00'W) on Amdrup Land, NE Greenland has been analysed for pollen and other microfossils, as well as bulk samples from 10 cores for macrofossils. AMS 14C-dating of aquatic mosses ( Drepanocladus exannulatus and Scorpidiurn scorpioides ) revealed that the lowermost 90 cm of the core was deposited during a 1.5-2 ka interval in the early Holocene, before the appearance of Salix arctica which immigrated to N Greenland c . 7 ka BP. Armeria scabra , now extinct in the area, larval cases and apotomes of Apatcmiu zonella , today not known north of c. 77°N, and other indices point to a climate warmer than that of today. A thin, sandy layer 13 cm below the lake bottom, accompanied by marked changes in the content of pollen and macrofossils, such as the sudden occurrence of large amounts of Salix pollen and leaves, indicates a large hiatus. This is confirmed by the dating to c . 7 ka BP of mosses just below the sand, and of Salix leaves just above it to c . 1 ka BP. The hiatus must be caused by sediment slumping which transported all the sediment from the intervening period to the deeper part of the lake. A similar, sandy layer in the uppermost 2–6 cm may be caused by younger, (sub-)recent slumping, or both may be the result of the same disturbance. The possibility of a reservoir effect causing too old 14C-ages for the moss is discussed.  相似文献

The restudy of the Late Cretaceous rudist fauna of the Chiapas Central Depression, considered Campanian-Maastrichtian with no more precisions in literature, reveals that, in fact, three successive rudist assemblages occur: (1) a lower one, early and middle Campanian, in the uppermost part of the Sierra Madre Formation (distinguished as Suchiapa Formation); (2) a middle one, early Maastrichtian, in the upper part of the Ocozocoautla Formation; and (3) an upper one, late Maastrichtian, in several horizons within the Angostura Formation. Published data on planktic and benthic foraminifers and inoceramid bivalves, as well as new findings of ammonites, helped bracketing the age of the three rudist assemblages. Their stratigraphic position fits with a depositional model assuming a basal carbonate platform fragmented into blocks each following a different tecto-sedimentary evolution: (1) a drowned block constituting the Tuxtla Gutiérrez Basin, deepening towards the neighbor raised block and receiving terrigenous material from the emerged Sierra Madre de Chiapas, that, after a long hiatus, was filled up and, subsequently, a marginal shallow carbonate platform, surrounded by a detritic belt and prograding towards the basin, installed on top; (2) a raised block constituting a high where, after a long hiatus, an insular shallow carbonate platform installed.  相似文献

A combined biostratigraphic model comprising 12 biozones is proposed for the Berriasian–Bedoulian (lower Aptian) shallow-platform deposits of the newly defined Fahliyan, Sar Bisheh, Ghari, Gadvan and Chahoo formations in the Zagros fold-thrust belt. Six biozones are established for the benthic foraminifers, four plus one subzone (taxon-range zone) for the dasycladalean algae and three for the tintinnids. The top and base of these biozones are calibrated with Sr-isotope numerical dating. The dataset is founded on outcrops and subsurface data in the Khuzestan, Fars and Bandar Abbas areas. High resolution biostratigraphic studies reveal that a sedimentary break corresponding to an exposure is present at the base of the Berriasian across the platform, and becomes younger from west toward the east. Another diachronous regional hiatus is detected on top of the Sar Bisheh Formation. Dated late Valanginian pro parte, it is the largest hiatus occurring in the Fars area. This study demonstrates that the boundary between the Sar Bisheh Formation and the Ghari/Chahoo formations, respectively covering the former Lower Fahliyan and Upper Fahliyan/Gadvan-Dariyan formations, is Hauterivian, not Barremian as stated by previous authors. It also shows that the Gadvan Formation does not reach the Aptian, contrary to previous statements. Sr-isotope stratigraphy offers a comparable resolution to that achieved by biostratigraphy. Combining the two methods results in a better resolution, enabling to estimate the depositional rates and importance of missing intervals.  相似文献

<正> 淮南地区属于华北地层区鲁西地层分区蚌埠地层小区,在中寒武统徐庄组紫红色云母质页岩与下寒武统馒头组上段紫红色页岩之间,为一套以灰岩为主地层、其时代归属、顶底界线等问题,各家的看法尚未统一。笔者发现华北地台南部地区相当于山东张夏馒头山毛庄组及其上下地层与华北其它地区在岩相和生物组合上,具有一定的差别。因此选择淮南老鹰山寒武系剖面进行工作。  相似文献

综合运用钻井岩心、测录井等资料,通过岩心观察、薄片鉴定和粒度分析等方法,对渤海湾盆地临南洼陷古近系沙三中亚段深水重力流沉积类型及其沉积特征、沉积模式展开研究。研究表明,临南洼陷沙三中亚段深水重力流沉积主要发育滑塌沉积、碎屑流沉积和浊流沉积3种成因类型。滑塌沉积以包卷层理、液化砂岩脉、阶梯状小断层、变形岩层与未变形岩层叠置为典型特征。碎屑流沉积中砂质碎屑流沉积分布较广,以突变的底部接触面、块状层理、泥岩撕裂屑、土黄色泥砾、突变或不规则的上接触面为典型识别标志。浊流沉积则以正粒序层理、底部冲刷面和槽模、薄层砂泥互层、不完整的鲍马序列为典型识别标志。滑塌沉积主要发育在三角洲前缘斜坡根部,在滑塌沉积前方形成碎屑流沉积,碎屑流向前搬运的过程中,流体被稀释逐渐转化成浊流。滑塌型深水重力流沉积整体分为近源沉积、中部沉积和远源沉积3个部分: 近源沉积主要发育具变形构造的滑塌沉积和厚层块状砂质碎屑流沉积;中部沉积主要发育砂质碎屑流沉积及浊流沉积;远源沉积以薄层浊流沉积为主。  相似文献

High-grade fault-hosted manganese deposits at the Woodie Woodie Mine, East Pilbara, are predominantly hydrothermal in origin with a late supergene overprint. The dominant manganese minerals are pyrolusite, braunite, and cryptomelane. The ore bodies are located on, or near the unconformities between the Neoarchean Carawine Dolomite and the Paleoproterozoic Pinjian Chert breccia (weathering product of Carawine Dolomite), and sedimentary units of the overlying ca 1300–1100 Ma Manganese Group. Stratabound manganese is typically located above or adjacent to steep fault-hosted manganese. The ore bodies range in size from 0.2 to 5.5 Mt with an average of 0.5 Mt. Historically, over 35 Mt of manganese has been mined at Woodie Woodie, and current ore resources are 29.94 Mt at 39.94% Mn, 6.96% Fe (resource and reserves statement, June 2011, Consolidated Minerals Pty Ltd).Manganese mineralization at Woodie Woodie is related to northwest–southeast directed extension and basin formation during the Mesoproterozoic. Basin architecture is generally well preserved and major manganese occurrences are localised along growth faults which down-throw the Pinjian Chert Breccia into local extensional basins. Manganese ore bodies are typically located on steep 2nd and 3rd order structures that extend off the major growth faults. Mineralized structures display a dominant northeast-trend reflecting the direction of maximum dilation during northwest–southeast extension.A paragenetic sequence is identified for the manganese ore at Woodie Woodie, with early hydrothermal braunite–pyrolusite–cryptomelane–todorokite–hausmannite, overprinted by late supergene oxides. Preliminary fluid inclusion studies in quartz crystals intergrown with pyrolusite and cryptomelane indicate that primary and pseudosecondary inclusions display a range of salinities from 1 to 18 eq. wt.% NaCl and trapping temperatures estimated to be from 220º to 290º at 1 kbar pressure.A lead–manganese oxide (coronadite) is common in manganese ores at Woodie Woodie, and Pb-isotope studies of 40 lead-rich ore samples from 16 pits indicate mineralization occurred within an age range of 955–1100 Ma. A mixed source is suggested for the lead, but was predominantly basalts and/or volcanogenic sedimentary units (e.g., Jeerinah Formation) of the ca 2700 Ma Fortescue Group. The typically high Mn:Fe ratios and enrichment in elements such as Pb, As, Cu, Mo, Zn are consistent with a dominantly hydrothermal origin for the manganese at Woodie Woodie. Supergene manganese is distinguished from hypogene manganese by a marked enrichment in REE in the supergene manganese.An early structural framework, established during Neoarchean rifting, provides a major structural control on manganese ore distribution. The Woodie Woodie mine corridor is located in a zone of oblique strike-slip extension on major northwest-trending transform faults and north-trending oblique normal faults. A major transform structure at the southern end of the Woodie Woodie mine corridor (Jewel-Southwest Fault Zone) likely acted as a major fluid conduit for manganese-bearing hydrothermal fluids and this would account for the concentration of significant manganese ore occurrences to the north and south of this structure.  相似文献

为进一步确定燕山裂陷槽中元古界大红峪组底界性质,笔者对位于燕山中元古代沉积盆地边缘的兴城地区进行调查研究。通过对研究区多个剖面上大红峪组底部砾岩的特征、类型及成因的初步分析,得出该组沉积之前地表经历了差异性侵蚀,造成古地形起伏较大。大红峪组底部与下伏地层的不整合包括单斜不整合和超覆不整合两种类型,其代表的"兴城运动"没有影响到更广阔的范围。根据大红峪组底界明显的沉积间断现象,笔者认为将标准剖面大红峪组底界置于"小白石英岩"之下更为合理。  相似文献

Abstract The Middle Proterozoic Chartai Group separated by two unconformities consists of three depositional sequences: the Shujigou Formation-Zenglongchang Formation (DS I ), the Agulugou Formation (DS II ), and the Liuhongwan Formation (DSIU). The carbonate platform and back-platform basin are the basic environment model of the Chartai Group. The syndepositional faults on the oceanward side of the carbonate platform and large- scale slumping in the soft sediments are important marks of facies tracts. The newly established Zenglongchan uplifting, an epeirogenetic uplifting, plays an important role in the formation of the palaeogeographic framework of the Chartai Group. The stratigraphic correlation between the Chartai Group and the Bayan Obo Group is made for the first time by using sequence stratigraphic principie and model established by P.R. Vail. The Chartai Group, which was deposited on the northern passive continental margin of the North China platfom, represents the platform cover.  相似文献

产于贵州关岭县新铺乡的上三叠统小凹组底部的关岭生物群,主要由海生爬行类(鱼龙、海龙、鳍龙、盾齿龙等)、海百合、菊石、双壳、腕足、牙形刺、鱼类和植物组成,以保存完整精美、数量巨大的海生爬行类和棘皮动物海百合为标志。通过岩相和古地理分析,对关岭生物群的生活环境和演化可以得出两点结论。①关岭生物群生活在水流强度小、相对贫氧的凹向北西的陆缘海湾,离海岸最近的地方约10km。②关岭生物群发生、发展、消亡和环境的变化关系密切。关岭生物群演化经历了几个演化阶段:离岸稍远的稳定碳酸盐台地环境,沉积形成竹杆坡组顶部;一次规模较大的海退,形成了竹杆坡组与小凹组岩层之间的突变;离岸较近的海水深浅变化频繁的海湾环境,沉积形成小凹组底部灰岩和含陆源碎屑灰岩互层段;离岸相对不远的比较稳定的海湾环境时期,关岭生物群就生活在这个时期;强烈动荡的海洋环境,沉积形成的是中厚厚层的具大量滑塌、搅动构造的灰岩层,关岭生物群受突如其来的灾难的影响,迁移到其他地方生息繁衍,结束了关岭生物群在该区的生活。  相似文献

准噶尔盆地侏罗系顶、底及其内部不整合广泛发育,其中中侏罗统下部西山窑组和上部头屯河组之间的角度不整合尤为清楚。它表现为区域性不整合,沉积间断时限达4~10 Ma,剥蚀厚度达100~340 m。该不整合“面”的结构由不整合面之上的砂岩、不整合面之下的风化粘土层和半风化岩石组成,以砂岩-泥岩-砂岩的组合为主,平均厚度达70~90 m。依靠风化粘土层,不整合面之上头屯河组的砂岩形成了地层超覆圈闭,不整合面之下西山窑组的砂岩形成了地层削截不整合遮挡圈闭。油气勘探实践表明:该不整合面上、下是油气聚集的重要场所;该不整合面的后期掀斜演变对油气聚集和调整再分配产生了重要影响。  相似文献
