Low-grade metamorphic black slates of Silurian and Lower Devonian ages (from the Thüringisches Schiefergebirge in Germany) were investigated to identify mineralogical and geochemical alterations that occur during the oxidative weathering black slates.The slates exhibit an intense total organic carbon decrease (>90 wt%) due to oxidative weathering. The organic matter in black slate consists mainly of non-pyrolysable material with only minor portions of pyrolysable material. In contrast to the non-pyrolysable organic matter, the concentration of pyrolysable organic matter is not decreased during weathering. Heating experiments have yielded information about a potential protection of pyrolysable organic matter against weathering, which is probably caused by a structural configuration or the intergrowth of organic matter and illite.The slates consist mainly of illite. Iron oxide (goethite) and phosphate encrustations were formed on slate surfaces as a result of oxidative and acid weathering of both iron sulfide and monazite. Kaolinite often occurs as an older encrustation beneath the iron oxide encrustations. Encrustations of iron oxide and phosphate are major sinks for trace elements, released during oxidative weathering.  相似文献

Weathered facing stone of Durham Cathedral is undergoing a program of progressive replacement. The durability characteristics of the original stone and the replacement stone are examined, and those factors that are responsible for atmospheric weathering are discussed. Building stones manufactured from contact metamorphic slates (Fruchtschiefer slate) from Theuma (Sachsen, Germany) were investigated for mineralogical alterations as well as for changes in porosity and surface roughness due to weathering. After weathering periods of several years to decades, the originally dark gray-colored slates show pale spots of several centimeters in size at the surface of building stones. The dark-colored and light-colored sections of the slate show no differences in mineralogy. Surface weathering did not result in newly precipitated minerals. It was also found that the observed differences in color are not caused by variations in sedimentary organic carbon concentration or in sulfide/sulfate concentrations. Obtained results instead indicate that dark surface sections may show a thin cover of recent organic matter (OM), e.g., living OM, soot, dirt, etc. Microscopic investigations suggested that this cover was exfoliated at light-colored surface sections. The observed disaggregation of the upper 2 mm of the building block material results in an increase in porosity. Porosity of black (unweathered) slate is <2 vol.%. Due to weathering, the slate’s pores with diameters >1 μm show a significant increase in frequency compared to the original pore size distribution. Porosity of weathered rock volumes increased to approx. 8 vol.%. Discolored surface sections show a higher surface roughness (root-mean-square roughness, Rq ~ 1 μm) compared to dark-colored slate surfaces (Rq ~ 200 nm), both data are for cleavage planes. Preferentially, the discolored surface sections are located close to the edges of cut stones. This and the alteration in porosity, pore size, and surface roughness indicate that color changes of the slate are largely influenced by rock disaggregation proceeding from the edges into the center rather than by mineral dissolution/precipitation processes.  相似文献

The purple Cambrian slates of North Wales contain green-colored, irregular patches drawn out along cleavage and the more familiar ellipsoidal reduction spots that are parallel to cleavage. Because parallelism of pre-strain ellipsoids could only be produced by extremely high strain, we reject the hypothesis that these are strain markers. Here, we use magnetic methods to resolve this argument. The magnetic analysis reveals that the magnetic fabric of purple slate differs from the green variety of the slate only in the oxidation state, and indicates that the reduction process postdates cleavage. This suggests that the shape of reduction spots reflects the anisotropy of diffusion during reduction, not finite strain and alignment of an initially ellipsoidal object in the slates.  相似文献

针对软板岩内部特殊的构造及其遇水膨胀的特点,以湖南省怀化芷江地区的板岩为例,选取14组岩样分别进行矿物成分、微观结构测试和侧向约束膨胀试验,研究软质板岩的膨胀特性及其微观机制。结果表明:软质板岩侧向约束膨胀率与吸水时间之间呈指数函数关系,在试验早期,侧向约束膨胀率随吸水时间的延长而增大,且增长速率较快,侧向约束膨胀率-吸水时间关系曲线较陡;在试验后期,侧向约束膨胀率趋于稳定,侧向约束膨胀率-吸水时间关系曲线由陡变缓。侧向约束膨胀率随着吸水率的增长呈乘幂函数关系增长,在试验早期增长较快,而后增长速率变小,直至最后趋于稳定。轴向膨胀率随轴向荷载的增加呈负对数函数减小,初期减小幅度较大,后期逐渐变低。结构面方向和试样轴向的夹角α在区间[0°,90°]之间变化时,极限侧向约束膨胀率随着夹角α的增大而减小。  相似文献

西南地区水电工程中堆积体边坡的稳定性问题研究对水电工程建设极为重要。堆积体边坡研究中比较关键的问题包括:堆积体的历史成因、不同条件下的力学参数取值和稳定性分析。本文通过对古水水电站坝址区域内下覆为板岩、上覆为堆积体的工程地质条件进行了相关分析,得到了该区域上覆堆积体和下覆板岩倾倒变形的历史演化过程:在冰水的携带作用下,边坡顶部的岩土体逐步向下迁移而形成堆积体,并且表现出明显的层状效应;板状岩体在构造运动、河谷下切和风化卸荷等共同作用下,加之上覆堆积体重量的不断增加,从而发生折断并导致倾倒变形。在对冰水堆积体物理力学特性分析的基础上,结合现场的工程地质调查,得到了区域内堆积体边坡的变形破坏模式表现为顺软弱面整体滑动破坏和局部圆弧型滑动。  相似文献

The Yidun Group extends from the Shangri-La region to the south and the Changtai region to the north,and is an important component of the Triassic Yidun arc in the eastern Tibetan plateau.It is composed of the Lieyi,Qugasi,Tumugou and Lanashan Formations from the base upward.Both the Lieyi and Lanashan Formations consist dominantly of black or gray slate and sandstone,whereas the Qugasi and Tumugou Formations have variable amounts of mafic to felsic volcanic rocks and turfs accompanied with gray slate and sandstone.Sandstone from the Yidun Group has variable CIA values from 55 to 76,indicative of mild to moderate weathering condition for the source rocks.All the sandstones define a general weathering trend nearly parallel to the A-CN boundary in the A-CN-K triangular diagram,implying limited effect of diagenetic and post-depositional K-metasomatism.Dominant detrital quartz and feldspar grains of the sandstones suggest predominantly felsic sources.Relatively high Y/Ni and low Cr/V ratios of sandstones from the Yidun Group indicate more contribution from felsic than mafic sources.Similarly,the Yidun sandstones have Co/Th and La/Sc ratios generally similar to upper continental crust (UCC) and cluster between UCC and felsic sources,indicating felsic rocks as primary sources.Granodiorite represents the average chemical composition of sources as evaluated by extending the predicted weathering trend back to the feldspar join in A-CN-K diagram.Prominently high Zr/Sc ratio or Hf concentration and Paleoproterozoic Nd modal ages (1.94-2.21 Ga)point to input of recycling components derived from old sedimentary source in a relatively stable tectonic setting.  相似文献

Psammites from the Ballarat slate belt in SE Australia exhibit well-developed differentiated or spaced cleavage defined by alternating phyllosilicate- and quartz-rich domains (termed P- and Q-domains, respectively). Strain estimates derived from independent microstructural and chemical observations suggest that the P-Q fabrics developed in response to plane-strain deformation dominated by solution transfer with the principal finite shortening in the P-domains approximately twice that in the adjacent Q-domains. Significant finite extensions are indicated by ubiquitous quartz-albite-chlorite overgrowths in both P- and Q-domains, while pressure-shadow development around syntectonic pyrite porphyroblasts suggest finite extension of at least 100%. This estimate is comparable with the extension predicted for constant-volume deformation and consequently there appears to have been no significant bulk material loss or gain on the hand-specimen scale. These observations are consistent with solute transfer scales as little as a few centimetres via diffusion in a stationary fluid and do not require, although do not necessarily preclude, large-scale advective fluid transport through the slate belt during cleavage formation as suggested in previous studies.  相似文献

We hypothesize that the weathering of building stones can be attributed to surface dissolution processes. We assume that chemical interactions occur on grain boundaries and/or microcracks and that diffusion is the controlling process. A dissolution layer (rind) develops adjacent to the weathering surface. We quantify the extent of dissolution by introducing a damage variable f; f=0 for pristine rock, and when f=1 the rock disintegrates. We assume that the variations of the damage variable are given by the diffusion equation. We solve two problems. The first is for the structure of the transient dissolution boundary layer prior to surface disintegration. We find an incubation time ti, before active weathering (disintegration) begins. The second is the solution for steady-state weathering with a constant weathering velocity vw. Our results are entirely consistent with weathering studies on Carrara marble gravestones in the United Kingdom. Typical incubation times are ti=20–30 years, and typical steady-state weathering velocities are vw=5–50 m year–1.  相似文献

水岩作用下泥质板岩表现出明显的软化特征。通过单轴压缩试验分析了泥质板岩软化过程中单轴压缩强度、弹性模量和泊松比与吸水时间之间的关系;借助核磁共振试验研究了水岩作用下泥质板岩软化过程中孔隙的产生、扩展和贯通规律,分析了泥质板岩软化过程中孔隙度与吸水时间之间的关系;采用电镜扫描试验分析了水岩作用下泥质板岩软化过程中微观结构的演变规律,基于分形理论研究了不同浸泡时间下泥质板岩分形维数的变化规律;运用非线性动力学理论,选取微观结构孔隙形状分维值、孔隙度、单轴抗压强度、弹性模量作为描述泥质板岩与水溶液相互作用系统的变量,建立了水岩作用下泥质板岩的软化模型,结合试验数据验证了模型的适用性。结果表明:泥质板岩单轴抗压强度、弹性模量随吸水时间增大而减小,呈负线性相关,而泊松比与吸水时间之间的关系不明显;在浸泡初期,水岩作用强烈,泥质板岩内部微孔隙会发生扩展贯通进而形成更大尺寸的孔隙,孔隙度在浸泡初期增长较快;随着浸泡时间的延长,水岩作用减弱,孔隙度增长速率趋缓;随着吸水时间的推移,泥质板岩内部孔隙相互连通,进而形成复杂网状结构的大孔,泥质板岩分形维数呈对数增长,最终趋于稳定;采用非线性模型计算的结果与试验数据较接近,说明泥质板岩的软化过程具有明显的非线性动力学特征,利用非线性动力学模型可以较好地表征水岩作用下泥质板岩的软化规律。研究成果可为软岩?水相互作用理论研究提供参考。  相似文献

English summary Near the eastern base of the Taconic Range, in extreme southwestern Vermont, a complex of chlorite slate is exposed in the position of the floor of a thrust along which a mass of dolomite-limestone has been pushed from the east against, and over, the slate. In addition to the common structure, exhibiting westward-overturned open folds, with slip cleavage dipping eastward, about parallel with the axial pianos, the slate displays a number of subsidiary shears or thrust zones having the same orientation as the principal thrust. In these zones, a strong lineation as well as axes of small folds plunge E—SE, parallel with the direction of propagation of the thrust blocks. The origin of the lineation and lamination is believed to be identical with that of corresponding structures in rolled steel and glass.However, the formation of folds with axes parallel to the direction of thrust requires an additional shear stress acting perpendicularly to the direction of thrusting. The inhomogeneous composition, strength, and mobility of the flooring rocks are pointed out, and it is suggested that unequal rates of yielding of local rock masses below the thrust block generated these supplementary stresses, producing slight movements of small masses sideways. That this is a reasonable explantation is shown by experiments on salt dome structure byEscher andKuenen, in which also axes of folds and lineation parallel with the direction of maximum forward propagation were produced.  相似文献

刘家湾滑坡位于青川东河口红光乡刘家湾,为汶川地震触发的特大型岩质山体滑坡。野外调查结果表明,该滑坡堆积体与一般汶川地震滑坡运动堆积体迥异的是滑体在沿碳质板岩与白云岩划分带破坏溃滑后,滑源区又沿白云岩风化卸荷带触发了二次溃滑,形成二级堆积平台的形态且以不同岩性区分,在岩性划分带及风化卸荷带呈现出明显的动力破坏特性。通过对该滑坡堆积体进行岩体物理力学试验及波速测试研究表明,该滑坡由白云岩、碳质板岩及千枚岩组成的内硬外软岩质边坡具有明显的量化差异特性,强震条件下差异岩性组合边坡岩层接触面的动力突变效应耦合凸出地形是导致该边坡破坏的主要因素。近一步研究显示该滑坡运动可大致分山体震裂阶段、地质分界面应力突变阶段、高速溃滑阶段、碎屑流堆积阶段、二次溃滑堆积5个动力过程。  相似文献

This research identifies the changes which takes place in roofing slate due to natural exposure and tries to replicate these changes experimentally. Traditional methods of testing, used by the British and other national standards, concentrate on the properties of unweathered samples and give no information on the relative durability of the different slates. Instead of concentrating on the initial properties, this research focuses on changes in the properties in order to assess durability. The effects of natural weathering were assessed by comparing old, used slates with new slates from the same or a similar source. The new slates were then weathered experimentally by repeated cycles of wetting and drying, and the increase in water absorbency compared with that observed in naturally weathering. Mineralogical differences due to both natural and experimental weathering were also measured using X-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that the effects of experimental weathering, using repeated cycles of wetting and drying, are similar to those observed in natural weathering. These include increased water absorbency and loss of crystallinity of the principal minerals. The greatest changes are found in those slates which are the most vulnerable to weathering, making it possible to identify poor quality slates.  相似文献

本文通过对龙门山南段青衣江阶地的研究, 尝试以常量元素所体现的风化特征, 来解决阶地对比的问题, 并取得了一定的进展。通过主量元素的分析, 发现CIA指标、 A-CN-K三角模型等, 在区分不同年龄的阶地有很好的效果, 而且沉积物砾石之间的基质颜色也一定程度地反映了新老关系。结合流域内更古老洪积扇的研究, 发现河流阶地在距今200ka内化学风化速度较稳定, 但更老的地貌面风化呈现非线性。另外, 在本文研究的600ka时间尺度内, 阶地风化速度与全球气候变化相关, 体现为冰期风化速度慢, 间冰期风化速度快, 并具一定的滞后效应。  相似文献

One of the characteristics of soft rock that contains clay and engineering geology is water swelling and.disintegration. The fractal model of slate disintegration is established by Gate Gaudin Sehuhmann distribution function, representative slate samples are chosen to perform laboratory tests of slaking, and the fractal dimension value of slate disintegration change law with time is obtained. The results show that absorbing water and disintegrating progress of slate is also a progress that fractal dimension of slate scrap change successively, when disintegrating of slate arrived to some extent, grade of scrap of slate disintegrated is no more change, fractal dimension of scrap of slate disintegrated incline to a critical value. The disintegration of slate has lag phenomenon in time. The initial disintegration time and the maximum disintegration fractal dimension of rocks are different because of the different microstructure and material composition.

大青山金矿是产于石炭系炭质岩系中的石英脉型金矿.条带状构造是该地区石英脉型金矿的主要找矿标志之一,也是多期次成矿的表现形式.构造在矿床形成过程中起到了极为重要的作用,具强隔水性特征的炭质板岩中的劈理构造是重要的运矿构造,晚于劈理、倾角小于劈理的北东东向逆断层是矿床的容矿构造.脉动式构造运动促成多期成矿作用的叠加形成条带状石英脉矿体.  相似文献

平壤柳京饭店是一座正在建设中的摩天大楼,共105层,高323.55m。地基主要由细粒砂岩、粉砂岩及粉砂质粘板岩组成,其中前者占50%以上。现场试验采用一种经过改进的BJ-110钻孔弹模计,用它测定的模量就是真实值,不需要任何修正。测试成果表明细粒砂岩的弹性模量介于6—14GPa,粉砂岩约为21GPa,粉砂质粘板岩小于3GPa。大楼建设过程中曾进行了沉降观测,根据大楼自重及沉降值反算基础的平均变形模量为6GPa,与测量结果对照,两者比较接近。本文还提出了一种估算基础整体变形模量的近似方法。  相似文献

花岗岩球状风化现象在自然界比较常见,其成因国内一般认为受三维裂隙控制,出露地表接受风化时,由于棱角突出,角部受三个方向的风化,棱边受两个方向的风化,而面上只受一个方向的风化,故棱角逐渐缩减,最终趋向球形。国外也有其他成因认识,如liesegang现象、卸荷载、微裂隙、体积膨胀、后期风化作用等莫衷一是。本文通过认真观察,对比分析,总结出球状风化形成机理即亲水矿物吸水及失水造成的膨胀收缩的结果。  相似文献

黑色页岩是富含有机质和硫化矿物的特殊沉积岩,但人们对其风化过程的元素活动性及矿物风化机制关注较少.为探讨不同地形位置的黑色页岩化学风化过程,采集了渝东北城口某山脊 (A)、近山顶 (B) 和沟谷 (C) 的下寒武统水井沱组黑色页岩风化剖面岩样,利用XRD、XRF和化学分析手段对采集样品的矿物成分、主量元素进行测定分析.元素和矿物的质量迁移系数 (τ) 和质量迁移通量 (Mj, flux) 的计算结果表明,黑色页岩风化过程中Ca、Mg和Na元素具有明显的贫化现象,近地表处存在Al元素的富集现象;矿物成分方面,黄铁矿和有机质氧化后形成的酸性水环境,造成方解石、白云石、斜长石等不稳定矿物溶解,并生成含水石膏、铁质氧化物、黏土矿物等次生矿物.不同赋存位置的黑色页岩风化程度有所差异,Na/K-CIA、K/Ca*-Al/Na、A-CN-K和A-CNK-FM图解显示:A剖面处于脱Ca过程的初级风化阶段,B剖面处于脱Ca、Na初期的初等-中等风化阶段,C剖面已发生脱Ca、Na过程,并伴随脱Si作用的中等-强烈风化阶段,结合不同风化指数 (如:CIA、CIW、PIA、MWPI等),得出各剖面的化学风化强弱程度依次为C>B>A.   相似文献
