Vibrational transition probabilities, namely Franck—Condon factors and -centroids have been evaluated by an approximate analytical method for the (A–X), (A–X), and (A–X) system of YO molecule. Morse potential energy curves forX 2+,A 22,A22, andA22, states of YO have been constructed using the latest spectroscopic data. The value of -centroids for the band have been found to decrease linearly with the corresponding wavelengths. We show results for two new transitions of (A–X) and (A–X) and five new bands of (A–X) of YO in the umbral spectrum of the Sun.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to find the eclipse perturbations, in the frequency-domain, of close eclipsing systems exhibiting partial eclipses.After a brief introduction, in Section 2 we shall deal with the evaluation of thea n (l) integrals for partial eclipses and give them in terms ofa 0 0 ,a 0 0 (of the associated -functions) and integrals; while Section 3 gives the eclipse perturbations arising from the tidal and rotational distortion of the two components. The are given for uniformly bright discs (h=1) as well as for linear and quadratic limb-darkening (h=2 and 3, respectively).Finally, Section 4 gives a brief discussion of the results and the way in which they can be applied to practical cases.  相似文献

In this paper closed one-zone models with a birth-rate stellar function depending on gas density and temperature are built up, in order to make a zeroth order approximation of thermo-chemical evolution of galaxies. To get a more realistic picture, the models are allowed first to expand with the universe and then to contract according to three successive time-scales, in order to simulate violent relaxation, rapid contraction, and slow contraction processes.Star formation occurs according to a birth-rate (m, t) g n T r m p ( g , gas density;T, gas temperature; andm, star mass), which reproduces the usual Schmidt-type law in the limitr0. Further we suppose that synthesized metals and helium are instantaneously mixed when returned to gas component at star death, and that relative metal abundances are time-independent: ( any element heavier than He, ). An energy fraction of each typical supernova event is assumed to heat interstellar medium, which is also though always to maintain a steady state.Under these hypotheses it becomes possible to use the interstellar cooling function of Dalgarno and McCray (1972), which is related to a special cosmic abundance of elements, to express analytically an interstellar cooling function related to any abundance. At this stage, numerical computations are performed up to about 12 Gy and the results analyzed in order to reproduce some morphological features observed in the galaxy, namely: (i) the extreme scarcity of stars with nearly zero metal content; (ii) the metal content and mass fraction of halo stars; (iii) the metal content and mass fraction of disk stars; and (iv) the ratio of the present-day birth-rate to the past birth-rate averaged over the age of the disk. It is found that a whole class of theoretical models exist, with slope of the mass spectrum between –2.5 and –2.6, which range from a Schmidt's law limitn=1.3 andr=0 to the opposite limitn=0 andr=–1.2, and are able to fit more or less at the same extent the observations mentioned above. On the analysis of further computations, it is also shown that an universal birth-rate stellar function is in contradiction with neither a dynamical hystory starting from the initial expansion of proto-galaxies, nor a morphological sequence where the amount of angular momentum is the only free parameter for any given mass, at least for what concerns spiral types. Finally, possible refinements for future work are briefly outlined.  相似文献

The propagation of linear sound and thermal waves in a reacting fluid, in which the heating and cooling processes can be represented by a heat-loss functionL(, T, is studied. A complex dispersion relation is found, from which the phase velocity and the scale length for damping (or amplification), of the above two-wave mode are calculated Wave amplification may occur in reacting locally stable fluids. Results are applied to a hydrogen plasma model assumed to be heated at a non-specified constant rate and cooled by recombination, excitation, and ionization by collisions, and free-free transitions. The phase velocity , the scale-length for damping , and the relevant relaxation times are calculated as functions of the dimensionless frequency , for temperatures ranging from those at which the hydrogen plasma is neutral to those at which it becomes completely ionized.  相似文献

A reliable representation to the invariant cross-section for the production of antiprotons ( ) in inclusive reactions has been obtained, which fits the data extremely well from threshold to ISR energies. Using this, the production spectrum of by cosmic ray interaction with interstellar gas is calculated and is compared with other existing calculations. The equilibrium spectrum in the Galaxy has been derived from about 100 MeV to a few hundred GeV in kinetic energy using Leaky Box Model for the propagation of cosmic rays, by taking into account all energy loss processes. It is found that /P ratio calculated here is very much smaller than the observed ratio. In view of the fact that this excess of observed /P ratio is much larger than the measured upper limits on the fraction of antimatter in the form of antinuclei, the excess /P ratio has not been attributed to the existence of antimatter. Instead, it is shown that Closed Galaxy Model for the propagation of cosmic rays predicts more antiprotons than observed. Therefore, it is suggested that if cosmic rays contain about 50% new component of local origin, the resulting Closed Galaxy Model explains well the observations. The present calculations also predict too small a flux of below a few hundred MeV to make this energy region ideally suited to look for antiprotons of primordial origin.  相似文献

The relative abundances of cool neutral hydrogen, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde are studied using all the available observational data in the literature. The obtained mean valuesN H 1/ ,N H 1/N CO,N CO/ are approximately constant in the dark clouds of the solar neighbourhood and in the distant molecular clouds.The observed correlationsN CO,A v and ,A v show that formaldehyde can also be used as an indicator of molecular hydrogen. The ratioN H1/A v depends on densities and decays considerably in the ranges of visual absorptions in which the molecules become detectable (A v 2 mg); an average of /N H 110 is calculated for the dense dark clouds.Indications of systematic temperature gradiens T/A v are found for formaldehyde and neutral hydrogen inside the dark clouds, and qualitative comparisons are made with theoretical quantum mechanics calculations.The observed carbon monoxide and formaldehyde abundances, the free electron layer in the Galaxy, the distribution of neutral hydrogen in different states are only compatible if an ionization rate of 10–16 is accepted, provided presumably by 2 MeV protons of cosmic radiation.Three main states for neutral hydrogen and dust are identified from different kinds of observational data (21 cm line in emission, absorption in galactic radio sources and self-absorption in the hot gas background): (1) a homogeneous intercloud stratum of tenuous gas and dust with a galactic halfwidth of 350 pc and mean parametersn H=0.2 atom cm–3, spin temperatureT s 10000 K andn d 0.3 mg kpc–1; (2) cool gas and dust concentrated in spiral features with a galactic half-width of less than 100 pc, probably forming clouds with diffuse and indefinite limits, with mean parametersn H2 atom cm–3,T s <1100 K (probable average,T s =135 K) andn d 3 mg kpc–1; (3) dense gas and dust clouds with a mean diameter of 7 pc and mean parametersn H700 atom cm–3 (90% in a molecular state),T s 63 K andn d 1 mg pc–1 on which molecules as CO and H2CO are formed.The application of the Jeans criteria for gravitational instability shows that the dense clouds are gravitationally bound while the gas in the intermediate state (2) can be protected against collapse by the total internal energy in the medium increasing due to cosmic rays and the magnetic field in the Galaxy.The observed velocity halfwidths and galacticZ-halfwidths in states (1) and (2) are compatible with a total mass density in the galactic layer of 90M pc–2 (gas plus stars) according to the barometric equation.The relative abundancesN H 1/N CO, calculated from C12O and C13O data and comparisons with studies in the 21 cm emission line, show that the antenna temperatureT A + in the 2.6 mm line of C12O is a good indicator of the cool gas densities in the Galaxy. The possible application of this for studies in galactic structure is discussed and hypothetical distributions of carbon monoxide in the zones outside the galactic planeB=0° are presented.From a synthesis based on the results obtained, a cycle is postulated for the neutral hydrogen in the Galaxy: condensation and cooling of gas molecular formation gravitational collapse and star formation gas dissipation and heating by cosmic rays and UV radiation.  相似文献

It is shown that Mathisson-Papapetrou equations under additional conditions , where is the Lie derivative of the Killing vector j , permit only radial motion, motion in the equatorial plane and in the equilibrium points. In this paper a simple model of chemical evolution is proposed, according to which active phases of star formation occured, each followed by a quiescent phase where the formation of stars withm1m was totally inhibited. The contraction of the gaseous component of the system was not stopped during quiescent phases, according to observed distributions of chemical and dynamical parameters in objects of different populations. Building up a detailed model we assume that: (i) star formation is inhibited during a given active phase, at a rate which is connected to the number of supernovae born at that time; (ii) total mass is conserved in the unit comoving volume; (iii) instantaneous recycling approximation holds. According to these hypothesis, theoretical metal abundance distributions as function of a single parameter may be derived and then compared with empirical distributions related to different kinds of populations. It is found that theoretical curves systematically overestimate the objects of lower metallicity and underestimate the objects of higher metallicity in respect to observations, as a possible consequence of the last two assumptions reported above. If we leave the detailed explanation of this effect to more refined models and taking other observational data into account, the chemical evolution of both Galactic spheroid component and solar neighbourhood may be derived and the results are to be considered as essentially qualitative. If three active phases of star formation occurred during the history of the Galactic spheroid component, the yield of metals, , had to increase passing from an active phase to the next even if (metal content) and the disk mass fraction,R D, had not to exceed a value of about 0.4 when is assumed as a characteristic value for the disk component and the main part of this last is thought to have formed at the end of the second active phase. If a single active (and no quiescent) phase occurred during the history of the solar neighbourhood, the yield did not increase appreciably up to to-day and no more than half (if any) of the initial mass could escape from the system in form of galactic wind. A disk mass fractionR D0.2 is further derived, if a birth-rate stellar function smoothly dependent on the gas mass fraction and a ratio of mean past to present star formation rate of the order of unity are to be reproduced, in agreement with recent observations.  相似文献

We investigate static, spherical configurations of cold catalized matter in the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravitation. Assuming that density of spin is proportional to the number density of baryonsn and using an equation of state of a degenerate, relativistic Fermi gas, we numerically integrated the relativistic equation of equilibrium. We have also studied the stability of those configurations. Configurations with central number densityn c such that where is the effective pressure, are very similar to general relativistic configurations with the same central density. In the Einstein-Cartan theory there exists another disjoint family of equilibrium configurations for which but . The very young open star cluster NGC 2362 was investigated by the strip method on charts of two photographs taken with the 1-m Schmidt telescope of the European Southern Observatory. Up to the limiting magnitudeM v * =5 . m 8 the cluster contains 100 stars and can be described by the Gaussian density law (6). Further results are: Mass = 246 , central mass density 0 = 43.1 = 246 pc-3 , radiusR2.6 pc, mean velocity of the stars = 0.64 km s–1.

Two models for superluminal radio sources predict sharp lower bounds for the apparent velocities of separation. The light echo model predicts a minimum velocityv min=2c, and the dipole field model predictsv min=4.446c. Yahil (1979) has suggested that, if either of these models is correct, thenv min provides a standard velocity which can be used to determine the cosmological parametersH andq 0. This is accomplished by estimating a lower envelope for the proper motion vs redshift relation. Yahil also argued that the procedure could easily be generalized to include a nonzero cosmical constant . We derive the formulas relating the proper motion to the redshiftz in a Friedmann universe with a nonzero . We show that the determination of a lower envelope for a given sample of measured points yields an estimate of the angle of inclination i for each source in the sample. We formulate the estimation of the lower envelope as a constrained maximum likelihood problem with the constraints specified by the expected value of the largest order statistic for the estimated i . We solve this problem numerically using an off-the-shelf nonlinearly constrained nonlinear optimization program from the NAg library. Assuming =0, we apply the estimation procedure to a sample of 27 sources with measured values , using both the light echo and the dipole field models. The fits giveH=103 km s–1 Mpc–1 for the light echo model andH=46 km s–1 Mpc–1 for the dipole field model. In both cases the fits giveq 0=0.4, but the uncertainty in this result is too large to rule out the possibility thatq 0>0.5. When is allowed to be a free parameter, we obtainH=105 km s–1 Mpc–1 for the light echo model andH=47 km s–1 Mpc–1 for the dipole field model. In both cases the fits giveq 0=–1 and /H 0 2 =6.7, but no significance can be attached to these results because of the paucity of measured data at hight redshifts. For all of the fits, we compute the corresponding estimates of the i and compare the cumulative distribution of these values with that expected from a sample of randomly oriented sources. In all cases we find a large excess of sources at low-inclination angles (high apparent velocities). The expected selection effect would produce such an excess, but the excess is large enough to suggest a strong contamination of the sample by relativistic beam sources which would only be seen at low inclination angles.Applied Research Corporation  相似文献

Line-forming regions around close binaries with strong winds ( /4r * v 10–4 g cm–2) are large in extent compared with the stars, large enough to screen them. Their orbitally-modulated Doppler shifts can overestimate the mass function, because of a larger rotational lever arm. In particular, most of the black-hole candidates need not involve companions more massive than a neutron star.The solar-wind problem is reconsidered. An extrapolation to Wolf-Rayet stars suggests that their winds are centrifugally driven. Their mass-loss rates tend to have been overestimated.Seemingly single (massive) stars can hide a (compact) companion.  相似文献

A linear correlation between the ratio of the[CII( $^{\text{2}}$ P A linear correlation between the ratio of the[CII( P P )] line intensity to the [ CO(J:1 →0)] line emission, I /I and the equivalent width (EW) is found, over the range 2–71 ? in EW, for a sample of 21late-Type= galaxies. The latter is comprised of an optically selected sample of 12 normal Virgo Cluster spiral galaxies with [CII] detections obtained by us with ISOLWS, plus nine late-Type= galaxies with higher star formation rates (SFRs), for which [CII] data and, especially, EW data are available in the literature. As a result we infer I /I to be a reliable tracer of the current mass-normalized global SFR for non-starburst spiral galaxies. Moreover, the ratio of the [CII] line to the total far-infrared (FIR) continuum intensity, I /I , is found to decrease from ∼0.5% to ∼0.1% with decreasing SFR which we propose is due to a `[CII]-quiet' component of I from dust heated by the general interstellar radiation field (ISRF). The more `quiescent' galaxies in the sample have values of I /I different from those observed in `compact' Galactic interstellar regions. Their [CII]-emission is interpreted to be dominated by diffuse regions of the interstellar medium (ISM). For normal `star-forming' galaxies the diffuse component of the [CII] emission is estimated to account for at least 50% of the total. The diffusion of charged particles through a weak stochastic electro-magnetic field which is superimposed on a constant background magnetic field is considered. The stochastic electromagnetic fields are assumed to consist of unpolarized Alfvén waves propagating at arbitrary angles to the direction . When the Alfvén waves are propagating in directions other than and the particle gyro-radius,r g, is sufficiently large (but may be smaller than the correlation length of the stochastic fields) it is shown that the particle flux perpendicular to the direction is , wherev is the particle speed andf the particle density. The expression forK differs from those calculated by previous authors. For small particle gyro-radii the flux S has a different functional form and is identical to that found by Urch (1977) to describe particle diffusion when the Alfvén waves only propagate in the direction .  相似文献

The Chisnell-Chester-Whitham method has been used to investigate the propagation of diverging plane and cylindrical shock waves through an ideal gas in presence of a magnetic field having only constant axial and variable azimuthal components, simultaneously for both weak and strong cases. Assuming an initial density distribution 0=r w , where is the density at the plane/axis of symmetry andw is a constant, the analytical expressions for shock velocity and shock strength have been obtained. The expressions for the pressure, the density, and the particle velocity immediately behind the shock have also been derived for both cases.  相似文献
