Some new families of electrically charged stellar models of ultra-compact star have been studied. With the help of particular form of one of the metric potentials the Einstein–Maxwell field equations in general relativity have been transformed to a system of ordinary differential equations. The interior matter pressure, energy–density, and the adiabatic sound speed are expressed in terms of simple algebraic functions. The constant parameters involved in the solution have been set so that certain physical criteria satisfied. Based on the analytic model developed in the present work, the values of the relevant physical quantities have been calculated by assuming the estimated masses and radii of some well known potential strange star candidates like X-ray pulsar Her X-1, millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX J 1808.4-3658, and 4U 1820-30. The analytical equations of state of the charged matter distribution may play a significant role in the study of the internal structure of highly compact charged stellar objects in general relativity.  相似文献

This paper presents a family of two-parametric interior solutions of Einstein–Maxwell field equations in general relativity for a static spherically symmetric distribution of a charged perfect fluid with particular form of charge distribution. This class of solutions gives us wide range of parameters, n and K, for which the solutions are well behaved hence, suitable for modeling of compact star (e. g. bare strange quark star). The mass of star is maximized with all degree of suitability by assuming the stellar “surface” density equal to strange (quark) matter density at zero pressure. It is hoped that our investigation may be of some help in connection of some study of stellar structure.  相似文献

We model a compact relativistic body with anisotropic pressures in the presence of an electric field. The equation of state is barotropic, with a linear relationship between the radial pressure and the energy density. Simple exact models of the Einstein–Maxwell equations are generated. A graphical analysis indicates that the matter and electromagnetic variables are well behaved. In particular, the proper charge density is regular for certain parameter values at the stellar center unlike earlier anisotropic models in the presence of charge. We show that the electric field affects the mass of stellar objects and the observed mass for a particular binary pulsar is regained. Our models contain previous results of anisotropic charged matter with a linear equation of state for special parameter values.  相似文献

In this paper we have studied a particular class of exact solutions of Einstein’s gravitational field equations for spherically symmetric and static perfect fluid distribution in isotropic coordinates. The Schwarzschild compactness parameter, GM/c 2 R, can attain the maximum value 0.1956 up to which the solution satisfies the elementary tests of physical relevance. The solution also found to have monotonic decreasing adiabatic sound speed from the centre to the boundary of the fluid sphere. A wide range of fluid spheres of different mass and radius for a given compactness is possible. The maximum mass of the fluid distribution is calculated by using stellar surface density as parameter. The values of different physical variables obtained for some potential strange star candidates like Her X-1, 4U 1538–52, LMC X-4, SAX J1808.4?3658 given by our analytical model demonstrate the astrophysical significance of our class of relativistic stellar models in the study of internal structure of compact star such as self-bound strange quark star.  相似文献

Studying relativistic compact objects is important in modern astrophysics to understand several astrophysical issues. It is therefore natural to ask for an internal structure and physical properties of specific classes of compact stars from astrophysical observations. We obtain a class of new relativistic solutions with anisotropic distribution of matter for compact stars. More specifically, stellar models, described by an anisotropic fluid, establishing a relation between metric potentials and generating a specific form of mass function, are explicitly constructed within the framework of General Relativity. New solutions can be used to model compact objects, which adequately describe compact strange star candidates like SMC X-1, Her X-1 and 4U 1538-52, with observational data taken from Gangopadhyay et al. (Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 431:3216, 2013). As a possible astrophysical application the obtained solutions could explain the physics of selfgravitating objects, and might be useful for strong-field regimes where data are currently inadequate.  相似文献

Recent observations have shown that some compact stellar binaries radiate the highest energy light in the universe. The challenge has been to determine the nature of the compact object and whether the very high energy gamma-rays are ultimately powered by pulsar winds or relativistic jets. Multiwavelength observations have shown that one of the three gamma-ray binaries known so far, PSR B1259−63, is a neutron star binary and that the very energetic gamma-rays from this source and from another gamma-ray binary, LS I +61 303, may be produced by the interaction of pulsar winds with the wind from the companion star. At this time it is an open question whether the third gamma-ray binary, LS 5039, is also powered by a pulsar wind or a microquasar jet, where relativistic particles in collimated jets would boost the energy of the wind from the stellar companion to TeV energies. The “strange star - NDAF” model (NDAF: Neutrino Dominated Accretion Flow) is proposed as an alternative central engine of gamma-ray bursts for unifying the interpretation of the prompt emission and postburst activities of gamma-ray bursts. The structure of NDAF around a strange star is calculated. Different from other central compact objects, the strange star will feed back the phase transition energy of strangization on the accretion flow, with neutrinos as energy carriers. The friction between NDAF and strange star is ignored in this paper. The results indicate: firstly, the structure of NDAF around a strange star is sensitive to accretion rate; secondly, if accretion rate is larger than 0.18 M? s-1, the “strange star - NDAF” model can unify the explanation on the prompt emission and postburst activities of gamma-ray bursts, and the range of allowable accretion rates is wider than that in frictionless “neutron star - NDAF” models; thirdly, the range of annihilation energy of “strange star - NDAF” model is very wide, when the accretion rate is higher than 0.3 M? s-1, the annihilation energy is greater than 1051 erg; finally, if the accretion rate is greater than 0.3 M? s-1, the annihilation energy of “strange star - NDAF” model is larger than what of “black hole - NDAF” model at the same accretion rate by more than one order of magnitude, it is favorable to explaining some extremely energetic gamma-ray bursts.  相似文献

A class of pulsar models which provide a stationary beam-plasma system as the source of radiation is considered. Since the beam-plasma system is stable near the pulsar where the coherent curvature radiation damps the longitudinal mode, we consider the beam-plasma system away from the star so that the effects of curvature radiation may be neglected. We find that the total wave energy density may attain a significant fraction of the beam energy density provided that the beam and plasma carry away a comparable amount of energy from the star. It should be noted that the attained high wave energy density is peculiar to a relativistic beam-plasma interaction.  相似文献

PSR B1259-63 is the only known binary system with a radio pulsar from which the non-pulsed radio and X-ray emission was detected. The companion star in this system is a Be star SS 2883. A rapidly rotating radio pulsar is expected to produce a wind of relativistic particles. Be stars are known to produce highly asymmetric mass loss. Due to the interaction of the pulsar wind and the Be star wind the system of two shocks between the pulsar and the Be star forms. In this paper we show that the observed non-pulsed radio emission from the system is a result of the synchrotron emission of the relativistic particles in the outflow beyond the shock wave and that the non-pulsed X-ray emission is due to the inverse Compton scattering of the Be star photons on this particles. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The synchrotron mechanism of radiation from the Crab pulsar has been investigated on the assumption that the mechanism acts in a source moving with relativistic velocity round a neutron star. A detailed matching has been made of the theoretical spectra of synchrotron radiation from relativistic electrons with the results of measurements of the radiation flux from the Crab pulsar in the infrared, optical and X-ray ranges. The parameters of the radiating region (intensity of the magnetic field, source dimensions, density and lifetime of radiating electrons) have been found. They are expressed through the ratio of the energy density of the magnetic field in the source to that of radiating electrons. The level of Compton-radiation in this region is estimated. Possible values of at which the level will correspond to the available results of measurements of the-radiation flux from the Crab pulsar are given. An estimate is presented for the surface magnetic field of the neutron star which does not contradict those obtained from considerations of the magnetic flux conservation when compressing the object up to the neutron star dimensions.  相似文献

We study the conversion of a neutron star to a strange star as a possible energy source for gamma-ray bursts. We use different recent models for the equation of state of neutron star matter and strange quark matter. We show that the total amount of energy liberated in the conversion is in the range of &parl0;1-4&parr0;x1053 ergs (1 order of magnitude larger than previous estimates) and is in agreement with the energy required to power gamma-ray burst sources at cosmological distances.  相似文献

Pulsar “standard model”, that considers a pulsar as a rotating magnetized conducting sphere surrounded by plasma, is generalized to the case of oscillating star. We developed an algorithm for calculation of the Goldreich-Julian charge density for this case. We consider distortion of the accelerating zone in the polar cap of pulsar by neutron star oscillations. It is shown that for oscillation modes with high harmonic numbers (l,m) changes in the Goldreich-Julian charge density caused by pulsations of neutron star could lead to significant altering of an accelerating electric field in the polar cap of pulsar. In the moderately optimistic scenario, that assumes excitation of the neutron star oscillations by glitches, it could be possible to detect altering of the pulsar radioemission due to modulation of the accelerating field. Millisecond pulsars represent an evolutionarily distinct group among rotation-powered pulsars. Outside the radio band, the soft X-ray range (~0.1–10 keV) is most suitable for studying radiative mechanisms operating in these fascinating objects. X-ray observations revealed diverse properties of emission from millisecond pulsars. For the most of them, the bulk of radiation is of a thermal origin, emitted from small spots (polar caps) on the neutron star surface heated by relativistic particles produced in pulsar acceleration zones. On the other hand, a few other very fast rotating pulsars exhibit almost pure nonthermal emission generated, most probably, in pulsar magnetospheres. There are also examples of nonthermal emission detected from X-ray nebulae powered by millisecond pulsars, as well as from pulsar winds shocked in binary systems with millisecond pulsars as companions. These and other most important results obtained from X-ray observations of millisecond pulsars are reviewed in this paper, as well as results from the search for millisecond pulsations in X-ray flux of the radio-quite neutron star RX J1856.5-3754.  相似文献

Both relativistic and non-relativistic two-fluid models of neutron star cores are constructed, using the constrained variational formalism developed by Brandon Carter and co-workers. We consider a mixture of superfluid neutrons and superconducting protons at zero temperature, taking into account mutual entrainment effects. Leptons, which affect the interior composition of the neutron star and contribute to the pressure, are also included. We provide the analytic expression of the Lagrangian density of the system, the so-called master function, from which the dynamical equations can be obtained. All the microscopic parameters of the models are calculated consistently using the non-relativistic nuclear energy density functional theory. For comparison, we have also considered relativistic mean field models. The correspondence between relativistic and non-relativistic hydrodynamical models is discussed in the framework of the recently developed 4D covariant formalism of Newtonian multifluid hydrodynamics. We have shown that entrainment effects can be interpreted in terms of dynamical effective masses that are larger in the relativistic case than in the Newtonian case. With the nuclear models considered in this work, we have found that the neutron relativistic effective mass is even greater than the bare neutron mass in the liquid core of neutron stars.  相似文献

We report a general solution in one of the gravitational potentials to the Einstein system in static spherically symmetric spacetime, modeling anisotropic strange quark matter by imposing a linear barotropic equation of state. The model generated by choosing Tolmann IV form for the gravitational potential is shown to contain the previously known anisotropic dark energy star model of Lobo (Class. Quantum Gravity 23:1525, 2006) and isotropic models of de Sitter and Einstein. Moreover, the model is shown to be physically admissible and corroborate with experimental observations on strange star candidates such as SAX J1808.4-3658 and 4U 1820-30.  相似文献

We present a numerical model in which a cold pair plasma is ejected with relativistic speed through a polar cap region and flows almost radially outside the light cylinder. Stationary axisymmetric structures of electromagnetic fields and plasma flows are self-consistently calculated. In our model, motions of positively and negatively charged particles are assumed to be determined by electromagnetic forces and inertial terms, without pair creation and annihilation or radiation loss. The global electromagnetic fields are calculated by the Maxwell's equations for the plasma density and velocity, without using ideal magnetohydrodynamic condition. Numerical result demonstrates the acceleration and deceleration of plasma due to parallel component of the electric fields. Numerical model is successfully constructed for weak magnetic fields or highly relativistic fluid velocity, i.e. kinetic energy dominated outflow. It is found that appropriate choices of boundary conditions and plasma injection model at the polar cap should be explored in order to extend present method to more realistic pulsar magnetosphere, in which the Poynting flux is dominated.  相似文献

We discuss the implications of the recent X-ray and TeV γ-ray observations of the PSR B1259–63 system (a young rotation powered pulsar orbiting a Be star) for the theoretical models of interaction of pulsar and stellar winds. We show that previously considered models have problems to account for the observed behaviour of the system. We develop a model in which the broad band emission from the binary system is produced in result of collisions of GeV–TeV energy protons accelerated by the pulsar wind and interacting with the stellar disk. In this model the high energy γ-rays are produced in the decays of secondary neutral pions, while radio and X-ray emission are synchrotron and inverse Compton emission produced by low-energy (≤100 MeV) electrons from the decays of secondary charged π ± mesons. This model can explain not only the observed energy spectra, but also the correlations between TeV, X-ray and radio emission components.   相似文献

We suggest that the mass of four compact stars SAX J1808.4-3658, KS 1731-260, SAX J1750.8-2900 and IGR J17191-2821 can be determined from the difference in the observed kiloHertz quasi periodic oscillations (kHz QPO-s) of these stars. The stellar radius is very close to the marginally stable orbit Rms as predicted by Einstein’s general relativity. It may be noted that the first of these stars was suggested to be a strange star more than a decade back by Li et al. (1999a) from the unique millisecond X-ray pulsations with an accurate determination of its rotation period. It showed kHz QPO-s eight years back and so far it is the only set that has been observed. This is the first time we give an estimate of the mass of the star and of three other compact stars in low-mass X-ray binaries using their observed kHz QPO-s.  相似文献
