Propagation regimes of large-amplitude dust-ion acoustic solitary wave in a dusty plasma with nonthermal electrons are analyzed by employing the Sagdeev potential technique. Two domains of the Mach numbers are defined depending on the nonthermal and plasma parameters. The two types of soliton solution are found to be exited corresponding to certain values of the nonthermal parameter. Numerical solutions are presented that illustrate the dependence of soliton characteristics on practically interesting plasma and nonthermal parameters. The findings of this investigation could be useful in understanding the detected solitary waves in space plasma in the presence of nonthermal electrons such as electrostatic solitary structures observed in Saturn’s E-ring.  相似文献

Our recent analysis on nonlinear nonextensive dust-acoustic waves (DA) [Amour and Tribeche in Phys. Plasmas 17:063702, 2010] is extended to include self-consistent nonadiabatic grain charge fluctuation. The appropriate nonextensive electron charging current is rederived based on the orbit-limited motion theory. Our results reveal that the amplitude, strength and nature of the nonlinear DA waves (solitons and shocks) are extremely sensitive to the degree of ion nonextensivity. Stronger is the electron correlation, more important is the charge variation induced nonlinear wave damping. The anomalous dissipation effects may prevail over that dispersion as the electrons evolve far away from their Maxwellian equilibrium. Our investigation may be of wide relevance to astronomers and space scientists working on interstellar dusty plasmas where nonthermal distributions are turning out to be a very common and characteristic feature.  相似文献

The concept of ion nonthermality is generalized within the theoretical framework of the Tsallis thermostatistics. In this connection, a physically meaningful ion distribution function is outlined. As the nonextensive character of the nonthermal ions increases, the distribution shoulders may become less or more prominent and high energy states are less or more probable than in the extensive nonthermal case. Variable charge dust acoustic waves are then addressed. We first consider the case of adiabatic dust charge variation and discuss later the case when the nonadiabatic charge variations are self-consistently included. Our results may complement and provide new insight into previously published work in nonthermal space plasmas.  相似文献

The dust-acoustic shock waves have been theoretically investigated using reductive perturbation technique. An unmagnetized four-component dusty plasma system consisting of nonextensive q-distributed electrons, Boltzmann distributed ions, and negatively as well as positively charged dust particles has been considered. The solution of Burgers equation in planar geometry is numerically analyzed. It has been observed that the nonextensive q-distribution of electrons has a significant role in the formation of shock waves. The relevance of our results to astrophysics as well as laboratory plasmas are briefly discussed.  相似文献

A rigorous theoretical investigation has been made on the obliquely propagating dust-acoustic (DA) waves in a magnetized dusty plasmas consisting of distinct temperature q-distributed electrons with distinct strength of nonextensivities, nonthermal ions and negatively charged mobile dust grains, and analyzed by deriving the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. It is found that the characteristics and the properties of the DA solitary waves (DASWs) are significantly modified by the external magnetic field, relative temperature ratio of ions, relative number densities of electrons as well as ions, the nonextensivity of electrons, nonthermality of ions and the obliqueness of the system. The possible implications of the results obtained from this analysis in space and laboratory dusty plasmas are briefly addressed.  相似文献

In this paper, the characteristics of the dust acoustic solitary waves in dusty plasmas are studied. The distribution of ions is nonthermal, and the nonthermal parameter is treated as a variable. The pseudo-potential method has been used to investigate the possibility of soliton formation. We show that for some values of the nonthermal parameter there is no soliton.  相似文献

The nonlinear properties of solitary waves structure in a hot magnetized dusty plasma consisting of a negatively charged, extremely massive hot dust fluid, positively charged hot ion fluid and vortex-like distributed electrons, are reported. A modified Korteweg de Vries equation (mKdV) which admits a solitary wave solution for small but finite amplitude is derived using a reductive perturbation theory. The modifications in the amplitude and width of the solitary wave structures due to the inclusion of an external magnetic field and dust and ions temperature are investigated. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The modified Kodomtsev-Petviashvili-Burger (mKP-Burger) and Kodomtsev-Petviashvili-Burger equations are derived in strongly coupled dusty plasmas containing iso-nonthermal ions; Boltzmann distributed electrons and variable dust charge. We use reductive perturbation method and discuss on solitary waves and shock waves solutions of these equations.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation is made on the formation as well as basic properties of dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) shock waves in a magnetized nonthermal dusty plasma consisting of immobile charge fluctuating dust, inertial ion fluid and nonthermal electrons. The reductive perturbation method is employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation governing the DIA shock waves. The combined effects of external static magnetic field, obliqueness, nonthermal electron distribution and dust charge fluctuation on the DIA shock waves are also investigated. It is shown that the dust charge fluctuation is a source of dissipation, and is responsible for the formation of the DIA shock waves. It is also observed that the combined effects of obliqueness, nonthermal electron distribution and dust charge fluctuation significantly modify the basic properties of the DIA shock waves. The implications of our results in space and laboratory dusty plasma situations are briefly discussed.  相似文献

A rigorous theoretical investigation has been made on multi-dimensional instability of obliquely propagating electrostatic dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary structures in a magnetized dusty electronegative plasma which consists of Boltzmann electrons, nonthermal negative ions, cold mobile positive ions, and arbitrarily charged stationary dust. The Zakharov-Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived by the reductive perturbation method, and its solitary wave solution is analyzed for the study of the DIA solitary structures, which are found to exist in such a dusty plasma. The multi-dimensional instability of these solitary structures is also studied by the small-k (long wave-length plane wave) perturbation expansion technique. The combined effects of the external magnetic field, obliqueness, and nonthermal distribution of negative ions, which are found to significantly modify the basic properties of small but finite-amplitude DIA solitary waves, are examined. The external magnetic field and the propagation directions of both the nonlinear waves and their perturbation modes are found to play a very important role in changing the instability criterion and the growth rate of the unstable DIA solitary waves. The basic features (viz. speed, amplitude, width, instability, etc.) and the underlying physics of the DIA solitary waves, which are relevant to many astrophysical situations (especially, auroral plasma, Saturn’s E-ring and F-ring, Halley’s comet, etc.) and laboratory dusty plasma situations, are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The problems of large amplitude double layers are discussed using Sagdeev’s pseudo-potential technique for a dusty plasma comprising two temperature isothermal ions and nonextensive nonthermal velocity distributed electron. For different sets of plasma parameter values, the Sagdeev potential V(?) has been plotted. It is found that nonextensive q parameter plays a significant role in determining the shape and size of large amplitude double layers. Also, it is observed that the existence of large amplitude double layers depends on different plasma parameters.  相似文献

Nonlinear dust-acoustic (DA) shock waves are addressed in a nonextensive dusty plasma exhibiting self-consistent nonadiabatic charge variation. Our results reveal that the amplitude, strength and nature of the DA shock waves are extremely sensitive to the degree of ion nonextensivity. Significant differences in the potential function occur for very small changes in the value of the nonextensive parameter. Stronger is the ions correlation, more important is the charge variation induced nonlinear wave damping.  相似文献

Nonlinear properties of the dust acoustic (DA) solitary waves in a dusty plasma consisting of negatively variable-charged dust particles, vortex-like distributed ions and two-temperature isothermal electrons are reported. A reductive perturbation theory has been used to derive a modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation for the first-order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous mKdV-type equation for the second-order perturbed potential. The renormalization method is used to obtain stationary solutions of these coupled equations. The modifications in the amplitude and width of the solitary wave structure due to the inclusion of two different types of isothermal electrons, external oblique magnetic field, higher-order nonlinearity, and vortex-like distributed ions are investigated. Also a method based on energy consideration was used to obtain the stability condition. Moreover, the numerical results are applied to investigate some nonlinear characteristics of the DA solitary waves.  相似文献

For the critical values of the parameters q and V, the work (Samanta et al. in Phys. Plasma 20:022111, 2013b) is unable to describe the nonlinear wave features in magnetized dusty plasma with superthermal electrons. To describe the nonlinear wave features for critical values of the parameters q and V, we extend the work (Samanta et al. in Phys. Plasma 20:022111, 2013b). To extend the work, we derive the modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (MKP) equation for dust ion acoustic waves in a magnetized dusty plasma with q-nonextensive velocity distributed electrons by considering higher order coefficients of ?. By applying the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems to this MKP equation, the existence of solitary wave solutions of both types rarefactive and compressive, periodic travelling wave solutions and kink and anti-kink wave solutions is proved. Three exact solutions of these above waves are determined. The present study could be helpful for understanding the nonlinear travelling waves propagating in mercury, solar wind, Saturn and in magnetosphere of the Earth.  相似文献

Bifurcation behavior of nonlinear dust ion acoustic travelling waves in a magnetized quantum dusty plasma has been studied. Applying the reductive perturbation technique (RPT), we have derived a Kadomtsev-Petviashili (KP) equation for dust ion acoustic waves (DIAWs) in a magnetized quantum dusty plasma. By using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems to the KP equation, we have proved that our model has solitary wave solutions and periodic travelling wave solutions. We have derived two exact explicit solutions of the above travelling waves depending on different parameters.  相似文献

The properties of small but finite amplitude dust acoustic (DA) shock waves are studied in a charge varying dusty plasma with ions and electrons having kappa velocity distribution. We obtain the global Debye length including the influence of suprathermality effects and dust charge fluctuations. It is shown that the effects of suprathermality of ions/electrons and dust charge fluctuation significantly modify the basic properties of DA shock wave. We observe that only negative DA shock waves will be excited in this model. The amplitude of DA shock wave increases with deviation of electrons or ions from Maxwellian distribution via decrease of spectral index, κ j (j=i,e denotes, ions and electrons, respectively). Also, it is indicated that the amplitude and steepness of the shock front decreases with an increase in the ion temperature.  相似文献

The nonlinear properties of solitary waves structure in a hot dusty plasma consisting of isothermal hot electrons, non isothermal ions and high negatively charged massive dust grains, are reported. A modified Korteweg-de Vries equation (modified KdV), which admits a solitary waves solution for small but finite amplitude, is derived using a reductive perturbation theory. A nonisothermal ions distribution provides the possibility of coexistence of amplitude rarefactive as well as compressive solitary waves. On the other hand, consideration of a critical ions density gives a stationary solution of solitary waves and the dynamics of small but finite amplitude of solitary waves is governed by Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV). The properties of solitary waves in the two cases are discussed.  相似文献

Nonlinear dynamics of electron-acoustic solitary waves in a magnetized plasma whose constituents are cold magnetized electron fluid, hot electrons featuring Tsallis distribution, and stationary ions are examined. The nonlinear evolution equation (i.e., Zakharov–Kuznetsov (ZK) equation), governing the propagation of EAS waves in such plasma is derived and investigated analytically and numerically, for parameter regimes relevant to the dayside auroral zone. It is revealed that the amplitude, strength and nature of the nonlinear EAS waves are extremely sensitive to the degree of the hot electron nonextensivity. Furthermore, the obtained results are in good agreement with the observations made by the Viking satellite.  相似文献

The nonlinear propagation of dust acoustic (DA) waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma system consisting of negatively charged mobile dust fluid, Boltzmann distributed electrons, and two-temperature nonthermally distributed ions, is rigorously investigated. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to derive the Burgers equation. The hydrodynamic equation for inertial dust grains has been used to derive the Burgers equation. The effects of two temperature nonthermally distributed ions and dust kinematic viscosity, which are found to significantly modify the basic features of DA shock waves, are briefly discussed. Our present investigation can be effectively utilized in many astrophysical situations (e.g. satellite or spacecraft observations, Saturn’s E ring, etc.), which are discussed briefly in this analysis.  相似文献
