A detailed study of geochemical changes associated with the retrogressive metamorphism of granulite-facies gneisses of the Lewisian Complex of NW Scotland has been made, using nearly 250 gneisses analysed for 24 major, minor and trace elements. The gneiss samples have been divided into 3 groups: (1) granulite facies, (2) granulite facies retrogressed to amphibolite facies but remaining undeformed, and (3) retrogressed (amphibolite-facies) gneisses deformed in shear zones. Element distributions within these groups have been examined using correlation coefficients, and have been compared and tested for significance using Student's t and Fisher z statistics. It is shown that the process of retrogression involved considerable large-scale chemical equilibration. Major-element pairs show marked increases in correlation during retrogression, reflecting considerable reordering of elements into one or other of the main amphibolite-facies minerals: hornblende, plagioclase and (minor) biotite. These correlations are enhanced, but otherwise unchanged, in the deformed gneisses. The retrogressed gneisses have a much more constant Fe/Mg ratio and a more uniform plagioclase composition, while there is a strong correlation between Fe3+ and Fe2+ throughout the area studied. Trace elements, by contrast, mostly show a significant loss of correlation during retrogression, although Cr and Ni are exceptions. Retrogression occurred as a result of widespread introduction of hydrous fluids up vertical structures in the gneiss complex during the Early Proterozoic. These fluids allowed considerable metasomatic redistribution of elements within the complex as the whole-rock compositions adjusted to the new mineralogy. Throughout the North Atlantic Archaean Craton there is a close association between retrogression of high-grade gneisses and basic magmatism in the form of dyke swarms. It is suggested that the two may be connected, and that the fluids causing retrogression are mantle-derived.  相似文献

91 biotites (53 from granites, 35 from highly metamorphic gneisses, 3 from redwitzites) were separated and analyzed for Fe, Mn, Zn, Cl, Sn, Ni, Co, Or, Cu, V, Mo, Pb. Biotites from gneisses contain much more Ni, Co, Cr, V but less Fe, Mn, Zn than those from granites. However, the distinction between biotites from gneisses and from granites on the basis of these elements is not certain. If a gneiss undergoes anatexis, the contents of Ni, Co, Cr, V, Zn and Sn of the preexistent biotite fractionate: Zn, Sn and Pe enter the anatectic melt readily while Ni, Co, Cr and V concentrate in the remaining matter (restite). Ni, Co, Cr and V are strongly positively correlated with one another but negatively with Fe and Zn, the latter being positively correlated with Pe. The chemical composition of biotites from granites depends not only on a potential degree of secondary decomposition into chlorite and muscovite but much more on the percentage of biotite in the rock: The more biotite, the higher the content of Ni, Co, Cr, V and the lower Fe, Zn and Sn in the biotite. Thus, it is possible to distinguish between normal and abnormal concentrations of an element in a biotite and in a rock. This might be useful in geochemical prospecting. Abnormal high concentrations of Sn and Zn were found in biotites from some granites which are connected with mineralizations of these elements. It is impossible hitherto to gain informations about the history and the parental material of a granitic magma from the minor elements in the rock or the biotite because their concentrations depend on how much biotite could be incorporated by the melt. The distribution coefficient of Cl between the lattice of 4 biotites and their fluid inclusions was determined to be 0,08.  相似文献

The rare earth element patterns of the gneisses of Bastar and Bundelkhand are marked by LREE enrichment and HREE depletion with or without Eu anomaly. The spidergram patterns for the gneisses are characterized by marked enrichment in LILE with negative anomalies for Ba, P and Ti. The geochemical characteristics exhibited by the gneisses are generally interpreted as melts generated by partial melting of a subducting slab. The style of subduction was flat subduction, which was most common in the Archean. The rare earth patterns and the multi-element diagrams with marked enrichment in LILE and negative anomalies for Ba, P and Ti of the granitoids of both the cratons indicate interaction between slab derived melts and the mantle wedge. The subduction angle was high in the Proterozoic. Considering the age of emplacement of the gneisses and granitoids that differs by ∼ 1 Ga, it can be assumed that these are linked to two independent subduction events: one during Archaean (flat subduction) that generated the precursor melts for the gneisses and the other during the Proterozoic (high angle subduction) that produced the melts for the granitoids. The high values of Mg #, Ni, Cr, Sr and low values of SiO2 in the granitoids of Bastar and Bundelkhand cratons compared to the gneisses of both the cratons indicate melt-mantle interaction in the generation of the granitoids. The low values of Mg#, Ni, Cr, Sr and high values of SiO2 in the gneisses in turn overrules such melt-mantle interaction.  相似文献

锡林浩特岩群是内蒙古中东部锡林郭勒微地块内原锡林郭勒杂岩的重要组成部分,由一套片麻岩夹层状斜长角闪岩、磁铁石英岩和变粒岩等变质岩组成,形成于中元古代[1]。岩群中片麻岩样品显示轻稀土元素富集的中等分异特征((La/Yb)N=4.71~7.97),斜长角闪岩具有平坦型((La/Yb)N=0.74~0.95)和轻稀土元素微弱富集型((La/Yb)N=1.06~3.63)两种稀土元素配分模式。在微量元素N MORB标准化图解中,斜长角闪岩显示出洋中脊玄武岩和岛弧玄武岩的过渡类型特征。同时结合岩相学和岩石地球化学图解分析,推断片麻岩原岩为富含泥质的亚杂砂岩,而斜长角闪岩原岩为一套具有拉斑质到钙碱性过渡型特征的玄武岩;变质沉积岩形成于活动大陆边缘大陆岛弧环境;变质基性火山岩形成于岛弧弧后盆地。二者指示锡林浩特岩群形成于活动大陆边缘体系。  相似文献

The epidioritc and quartzite of the Malin Head district, (Ireland) are considered by Holmes and Reynolds [7] to be metasomatically transformed into skarn-rocks and mica-schist respectively. The trace element contents of these rocks were investigated using semi-quantitative methods in order to study the behaviour of the different trace elements during the metasomatic changes which have taken place. The elements which have been determined are Rb, Ba, Ag and Pb; Sr, Y and La; Li, Cr, Ni, Co, V, Cu, Sc, Sn and Mo; Ga; Zr, Be, Tl, Ge and In. The trace elements follow the major elements for which they can substitute in favourable crystal lattices, the substitution being in accord with Goldschmidts rules. Rb, Ba and probably Pb and Ag follow and substitute for K; Sr and Y for Ca and probably K; Li, Cr, Ni, Co, V, Cu, Sc, Sn and Mo for Mg, Fe2 and Fe3; and Ga for Al.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wurden 125 basaltoide Gesteine Mittel- und Südeuropas und anderer Provenienz auf Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Sc, V, Y und Zr spektralanalytisch untersucht. Olivinplagioklas-, Nephelin- und Leuzitbasalten, einschließlich den von ihnen ableitbaren Tuffe und Tuffite lassen sich bei binärer Korrelation der Elemente Ni/Co, Ni/Cu, Ni/Cr und Ni/Zr definierte Konzentrationsfelder zuweisen. Das Konzentrationsfeld der Olivinplagioklasbasalte allein fällt durch eine enge Abgrenzung auf. Sie zeigen auch die geringsten regionalen Unterschiede. Ihre Gehalte an Cr, Ni und Co, vielleicht auch V, sind durchwegs höher als in den alkalireichen Basalttypen.
Summary In this work 125 samples of basaltic rocks of Central- and South-Europe and of other regions were analysed spectrochemically for the trace elements Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Sc, V, Y and Zr. Olivineplagioclase basalts, nephelinitic and leucitic basalts including their tuffs and tuffites show definite concentration fields in binary correlation diagrams of Ni/Co, Ni/Cu, Ni/Cr or Ni/Zr. Only the Concentration field of the olivineplagioclase basalts is remarkable showing narrow limits. The regional influence seems to be small. Their contents on Co, Cr and Ni, may be V too, are higher than in the basaltic rock types richer on and Ni, may be V too, are higher than in the basaltic rock types richer on alkalies.

The Western Namaqua Province (WNP) of southern Africa is composed of several supracrustal assemblages and intrusive granitoid suites that were formed during the mid-Proterozoic 2.0-1.0 Ga ago. The Bushmanland Group (BG) has been the subject of intense study recently because of its considerable strategic metal potential, hosting several giant stratiform base metal deposits (e.g., Gamsberg and Aggeneys). The BG contains amphibolites which represent metamorphosed tholeiitic basalts with MgO (9-4%) and enriched in Ni relative to modern basalts, a feature reminiscent of Archaean tholeiites. Post depositional mobility of elements is probably widespread and hampers recognition of parental magma composition and source region characteristics. However, the amphibolites have yielded a Sm-Nd isochron age of 1649 ± 90 Ma (ϵNd(T) = −0.48 ± 0.89), which is interpreted as the time of extrusion of the basalt precursors, and by inference a minimum sedimentation age for the underlying metalliferous BG sequence. It follows that the BG sequence evolved during an intermediate period in the history of the Namaqua Province, after major crustal stabilisation around 2.0-1.9 Ga and before the last major tectonothermal event around 1.2-1.1 Ga. Results of a parallel Rb-Sr and U-ThPb study of the BG amphibolites indicate strong metamorphic resetting 1.2-1.1 Ga ago, thereby confirming earlier work on the WNP. Characteristics of the source region to the BG basalts have been inspected with MORB normalised trace element abundances, with the salient result being the BG basalts require derivation from a source that experienced variable geochemical modification similar to that proposed for the mantle wedge overlying modern subduction zones. Such a process is currently preferred over crustal contamination, since the Sm-Nd isochron for the BG amphibolites is remarkably linear, but independent confirmation of the Sm-Nd age is still required before this alternative model can be discounted. To reconcile the requirement of subduction related metasomatism in the source to tholeiitic basalts erupted within what appears to be a cratonic sedimentary basin, we suggest that back are continental extension could provide a satisfactory tectonic setting, as such an environment is intrinsically linked to subduction.  相似文献

Concentrations of the elements N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr, Co, Mo, Cd and Pb were measured in serpentine and granite soils and in the fern Pteridium aquilinum sampled from the Ślęża Massif in Lower Silesia, Poland. The serpentine soils were typical for serpentine soils in general with deficiency of K and Ca and excess of Mg, Ni and Cr. The principal component analysis (PCA) ordination based on the matrix of concentrations of elements in plants growing on serpentine and granite soils enabled the identification of the parent material from which ferns in this study were collected. This method indicated that the ferns from granite soils were distinguished by higher concentrations of Mo and Pb, while those from serpentine soils were distinguished by higher concentrations of Mg, Ni, Cr and Co. These differences in bioaccumulation reflect the higher concentrations of total and plant-available forms of Mg, Ni, Cr, Co in serpentinite and the higher concentrations of total Mo and total and plant-available Pb in granites as reported in literature. The different parent material types in the Ślęża Massif on which the investigated soils were developed influence the concentration and type of elements accumulated in P. aquilinum.  相似文献

本文对太平洋北部铁锰结核富集区沉积物的元素地球化学作了较为详细的研究。因子分析提供的信息表明,元素的分布主要受三个因子控制:(1)粘土及Fe、Mn氧化物水化物胶体的吸附作用;(2)生物化学作用过程有关的自生沉积作用;(3)海底页岩风化及附近海区的火山喷发作用。元素的来源:(1)Fe、Mn、Cu、Co、Ni、Zn、Cr、Cr、Mg、Al、Ti、K共生,主要来自粘土吸附;(2)C有机、N、Sr、Na及Si、Ca、Sr主要来自生物化学过程沉积;(3)Pb主要来源于岩石碎屑(火山喷发碎屑)。  相似文献

利用电子探针、激光剥蚀-电感耦合等离子体质谱测试技术,对赤峰东南部建平群斜长角闪岩中黑云母的常量元素、微量(稀土)元素进行了测试分析。研究表明:赤峰东南部建平群斜长角闪岩中的黑云母主量元素以富Fe、Mg为特征,为高铁镁云母;黑云母稀土元素含量低,轻重稀土分馏较强,δEu、δCe均值为正,为选择Ce、Nd的配分型矿物;黑云母中Rb、Ba、Pb和Cs等大离子亲石元素富集,特别是Cs、Ba明显富集,而Sr略有亏损;高场强元素Zr、Hf、Sc等亏损,较富集的元素为U、Th、Nb、Ta元素;亏损的亲铁元素为Cr、Ni,而显著富集的元素为V、Ti;亲硫元素Cu亏损而Zn明显富集;分散元素Ga有明显的富集。  相似文献

The Gulf of Mannar along the Tuticorin coast is a coral base of the southeast coast of India. To obtain a preliminary view of its environmental conditions, geochemical distribution of major elements (Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, K, P), trace elements (Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Co, Pb, Zn, Cd) and acid leachable elements (Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Co, Pb, Zn, Cd) were analyzed in surface sediment samples from two seasons. Geochemical fractionation confirmed the lithogenic origin of metals, which were mainly associated with the detrital phase. The sediments in the gulf are sandy with abundant calcareous debris, which controls the distribution of total and acid leachable elements. Enrichment factors relative to crust vary by a magnitude of two to three and the presence of trace metals indicates the input of Cr, Pb, Cd, Cu and Zn in both forms through industrial activities. Factor analysis supports the above observation with higher loadings on acid leachable elements and its association with CaCO3. The increase in concentration of trace metals (Cr, Pb, Cd, Cu, Co, Ni, Zn) along the Gulf of Mannar indicates that the area has been contaminated by the input from riverine sources and the industries nearby. The present study indicates that other sources should be evaluated in the long-term monitoring program.  相似文献

Magnesium ilmenite from discrete nodules and lamellar intergrowths with pyroxene from the Kao, Sekameng, Frank Smith, and Monastery kimberlites has been analysed for Ti, Fe, Mg, Nb, Zr, Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn, Co, and Ni. Each kimberlite contains discrete ilmenites which exhibit a wide compositional range within the ilmenite-geikeilite series. Lamellar ilmenites from Frank Smith and Monastery differ in composition but both show a limited range in composition which lies within the compositional range shown by discrete ilmenites from these pipes. The ilmenites are enriched in Nb, Zr, Cr, Co, and Ni and depleted in Mn, Cu, and Zn relative to Mg-poor ilmenites from basic intrusions. Nb, Zr, and Ni correlate with Fe, Ti and Mg variations but the abundances of the other trace elements are independent of major element variation. R-mode factor analysis is interpreted to imply that the geochemistry cannot be interpreted in terms of a differentiation hypothesis in which trace elements are removed from or concentrated in residua. Factor scores and major element abundances indicate that each pipe is characterized by a particular suite of discrete ilmenite nodules, which are considered to be phenocrysts in a proto-kimberlite magma. Lamellar ilmenite-pyroxene intergrowths are unlikely to have had a eutectic origin, and show no simple relationship to the discrete ilmenites.  相似文献

The petrology and geochemistry of East Island have been investigated for the first time. The island is a deeply dissected remnant of a Pleistocene shield volcano, one of several emerging from an oceanic rise forming part of the southwest branch of the Indian Ocean ridge system. The lavas form a flat-lying sequence of oceanites, ankaramites, olivine basalts and feldsparphyric basalts, the ankaramites containing 1 cm phenocrysts of diopsidic clinopyroxene. X-Ray fluorescence analyses were made of 43 lavas for the major elements plus Cr, Ni, Rb, Sr, Ba, Pb, and Th and the minerals were analysed by electron microprobe. The elements Mg, Cr, and Ni are strongly concentrated in spinel, olivine and clinopyroxene phases and in the ankaramites and oceanite lavas with maximum concentrations of 18% MgO, 1,000 ppm Cr, 380 ppm Ni, while Al, Ti, K, Rb, Ba, Th, Na, P, Sr concentrate in the groundmass and in the feldspathic and aphyric basalts. The elements Si, Ca, Fe and Mn remain virtually constant throughout the series.Correlations of +0.95 or better exist between the concentrations of elements within the two groups given above, and negative correlations between elements in different groups. The fractionation trends are unique with respect to the constant Al/Ti ratio and K/Sr ratio, but all trends may be reproduced by calculating the effect of subtraction of suitable amounts of chromite, olivine and low Ti clinopyroxene from an alkaline olivine basalt parent. Either fractionation has taken place involving these three phases under low pressure conditions or it is the result of different degrees of partial melting of mantle material.A complex magnesian chrome spinel is found in the ankaramites and is often jacketed by a chromian titanomagnetite. A complete series of intermediate compositions appears to exist between the two end members.  相似文献

At the same Mg-number, a decrease is observed in the averagecontent of Ni, Co, and Cr in basalts between 2.5 and 2.0 b.y.Such decreases can be accounted for by smaller degrees of meltingin the mantle in response to falling geotherms. In terms ofpartially compatible (e.g. Ti, Zr, Nb, Y) and incompatible elements(e.g. Rb, Sr, Ba), Archean basalts are similar to modern island-arcbasalts although they are relatively enriched in Th and Zr anddepleted in Al. The upper concentration limit of partially compatibleand incompatible elements increases in basalts between 2?5 and1.0 b.y. Basalts with large concentrations of these elementsdo not appear to have been produced during the Archean and becomeimportant in the geologic record only after 1?0 b.y. ago. Varyingdegrees of melting, fractional crystallization, or crustal contaminationare not capable of accounting for these changes, and an increasingimportance of enriched mantle sources seems necessary. A greater availability of enriched mantle sources after theArchean may reflect recycling of ancient enriched mantle orcontinental sediments into the mantle during catastrophic continentalgrowth at 2.7 b.y.  相似文献

Restricted areas of acid to intermediate gneisses in northernmost Sweden are known to be Archaean and several other gneissic granodioritic to tonalitic massifs have been suggested to be of this age. To delimit the western border of the Archaean province of the Baltic Shield, and to characterize the Swedish Archaean, we have studied the 2.83 Ga old Soppero gneiss and 8 of the proposed Archaean massifs in northern Sweden by Sm-Nd isotopic analyses, U-Pb zircon dating (in two cases), and geochemistry.Of the Archaean gneisses proposed thus far, only those from the Soppero and Kukkola areas have Archaean ages (2.83 and 2.67 Ga, respectively). These gneisses have geochemical characteristics such as LREE-enrichment, low U-contents, and low K/Na-ratios, which are typical of Archaean TTG (tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite) rocks worldwide. The REE results indicate that the Soppero and the Kukkola gneisses were generated by partial melting of basic rocks, presumably amphibolites. According to the Sm-Nd isotopic data for the Soppero gneiss, this process occurred only a short time after initial segregation from the mantle ( Nd values between +0.9 and +3.5). The Kukkola gneiss, however, has longer crustal residence time as indicated by negative Nd values (–1.0 and –2.5) at the U-Pb zircon age of 2.67 Ga. Evidence in support of an important event at that time is given by secondary overgrowth on zircon cores in the 2.83 Ga old Soppero gneiss.The Sm-Nd isotope results show that the Proterozoic granitoids in northern Sweden have a decreasing involvement of Archaean source material with increasing distance from the Archaean areas. Before the Proterozoic reworking, the rather small Archaean areas in northern Sweden presumably belonged to a large continuous Archaean craton. The western palaeoboundary of this craton in Sweden probably follows approximately a line extrapolated from the western limit of the Archaean of central Finland, passing west of Kukkola, and then continues to the Lofoten area in northern Norway.  相似文献

Trace-element determinations of 15 coal samples have been made in order to know their distribution, behaviour and associations with the organic and inorganic fractions in the coal. The coal samples have been systematically collected in stratigraphic sequences so that the vertical variation of the trace-elements can be studied. The elements determined by spectographic analysis are W, V, Cr, Sc, Y, Cu, Co, Pb, Be, Ni and Ba. The results indicate that the concentration of trace elements in these coals varies greatly from bottom to top sections. The elements V and Co are extremely poor in the top and middle sections, whereas in the bottom section they are fairly distributed. Be is extremely poor in the bottom section, and fairly distributed in the middle and top sections. W, Sc, Y have poor concentration in the bottom section as compared to the middle and top sections. Ni is fairly distributed in the bottom section whereas its concentration is poor in the middle and top sections. Cr and Cu are fairly distributed in the bottom, middle and top sections. Ba has unusually high concentration in all the sections.It appears from the present study that W, Cr, Sc, Y and Be are concentrated more in silicate minerals (clay, quartz, etc.) associated with coal, and the elements like , Co, and Ni have intimate relation with organic matters in coal and are present as organometallic compounds as well as absorbed cations. Cu and Pb which are present in the coals are derived from the inorganic matter, mainly from the pyrites, whereas W has affinity with carbonate minerals in the coals. The Ba is mainly associated with the inoraanic matter of coal; its unusually high concentration indicates association with carbonates, clays and other silicate minerals.  相似文献

Metabasic rocks interbedded in amphibolite facies supracrustal gneisses outcrop around Lac Carnu in the Aiguilles Rouges massif (Western Alps). The cores of the thickest boudinaged lenses are made up of eclogitic amphibolites grading outwards into amphibolites. The common assemblage is unzoned garnet + symplectitic clinopyroxebe + hornblende + plagioclase. In a slightly amphibolitized sample, minimum P and T conditions of equilibrium between garnet and omphacite inclusions are 780°C and 11 Kb. A polymetamorphic pre-Alpine evolution of the massif is thus demonstrated. Eclogitic amphibolites show variations in major element composition similar to the Skaergaard evolution in the Al2O3 ? FeO + Fe2O3 ? MgO triangle. Variation diagrams in which Zr is taken as differentiation index also indicate magmatic trends for Mn, Ti, P, Ni, Co, Y, V and Cr, Ca, K, Na, Sr, Rb and Si were mobile during the evolution of the rocks. The igneous trend can be described by a quantitative model of fractional crystallization in which a noritic assemblage separated in the initial stage. This provides evidence of crustal P, T conditions of differentiation for the original materoal and in situ evolution for the eclogites. A second group of amphibolites shows banded structure and transitional terms with the surrounding gneisses. A volcano-sedimentary origin is suggested though the process cannot be modelled. The rocks may result from complex interactions of magnetic, metasomatic and sedimentary processes. It is concluded that Lac Cornu metabasites were originally continental tholeiites, though several geochemical criteria tend to indicate an oceanic origin. This casts some doubt on the validity of these criteria, when applied to metamorphic rocks.  相似文献

The trace elements characteristics of the migmatitic gneisses (biotite-garnetand hornblende-biotite), granulite facies rocks (charnockitic gneisses) and meta-peridotite in the area of Southwest Obudu Plateau indicate that the area exhibits a high degree of geochemical variability. Compatible trace elements (Ni and Cr) are comparatively high in the granulite facies rocks and meta-peridotite. Variably foliated, predominantly granodioritic plutonic rocks from the northern part of the Shaw Batholith in the east Pilbara Archaean craton are dated at 3,499±22 Ma (2σ errors) by a whole-rock Pb-Pb isochron. These rocks intrude the surrounding greenstone sequence, and their age is indistinguishable from that sequence. High strain grey gneisses which occupy much of the western and southern Shaw Batholith are chemically and isotopically similar to the North Shaw suite and are inferred to have been derived from this suite by tectonic processes. Felsic volcanics within the greenstones together with a major portion of the granitic batholiths apparently formed in a calc-alkaline volcanic and plutonic province at ~3,500 Ma. This volcanic and plutonic suite is similar to modern calc-alkaline suites on the basis of major element, rare earh element and most other trace element contents. The Archaean suite contrasts with modern equivalents only in having lower concentrations of HREE and higher concentrations of Ni and Cr. The average composition of the North Shaw suite is similar to that of Archaean gneiss belts for most elements and is consistent with the previously formulated hypothesis that the Shaw Batholith is transitional to the upper crustal level of a high-grade gneiss belt. Enrichment of the gneissic crust in the Shaw Batholith in alkali and heat-producing elements is inferred to have taken place by both igneous and hydrothermal processes over a protracted time interval. Late- and post-tectonic adamellite and granite melts intrude the gneissic rocks and there is isotopic evidence consistent with the gneisses being substantially enriched in Rb by pegmatite injection at ~3,000 Ma.  相似文献
