Currently available data on the field of velocities V r , V l , V b for open star clusters are used to perform a kinematic analysis of various samples that differ by heliocentric distance, age, and membership in individual structures (the Orion, Carina-Sagittarius, and Perseus arms). Based on 375 clusters located within 5 kpc of the Sun with ages up to 1 Gyr, we have determined the Galactic rotation parameters ω 0 = ?26.0 ± 0.3 km s?1 kpc?1, ω′0 = 4.18 ± 0.17 km s?1 kpc?2, ω″0 = ?0.45 ± 0.06 km s?1 kpc?3, the system contraction parameter K = ?2.4 ± 0.1 km s?1 kpc?1, and the parameters of the kinematic center R 0 = 7.4 ± 0.3 kpc and l 0 = 0° ± 1°. The Galactocentric distance R 0 in the model used has been found to depend significantly on the sample age. Thus, for example, it is 9.5 ± 0.7 and 5.6 ± 0.3 kpc for the samples of young (≤50 Myr) and old (>50 Myr) clusters, respectively. Our study of the kinematics of young open star clusters in various spiral arms has shown that the kinematic parameters are similar to the parameters obtained from the entire sample for the Carina-Sagittarius and Perseus arms and differ significantly from them for the Orion arm. The contraction effect is shown to be typical of star clusters with various ages. It is most pronounced for clusters with a mean age of ≈100 Myr, with the contraction velocity being Kr = ?4.3 ± 1.0 km s?1. 相似文献

Charge-coupled device (CCD) photometry in the Johnson V , Kron–Cousins I and Washington CMT 1 systems is presented in the field of the poorly known open cluster NGC 2627. Four independent Washington abundance indices yield a mean cluster metallicity of [Fe/H]=−0.12 ± 0.08 , which is compatible with the existence of a radial gradient in the Galactic disc. The resultant colour–magnitude diagrams indicate that the cluster is an intermediate-age object of 1.4 Gyr. Based on the best fits of the Geneva group's isochrones to the ( V , V − I ) and ( T 1 , C − T 1 ) diagrams, we estimate E ( V − I ) = 0.25 ± 0.05 and V − MV = 11.80 ± 0.25 for log t = 9.15 , and E ( C − T 1 ) = 0.23 ± 0.07 and T 1 − M T 1 = 11.85 ± 0.25 for log t = 9.10 , respectively, assuming solar metal content. The derived reddening value E ( C − T 1 ) implies E ( B − V ) = 0.12 ± 0.07 and a distance from the Sun of 2.0 ± 0.4 kpc . Using the WEBDA data base and the available literature, we re-examined the overall properties of all the open clusters with ages between 0.6 and 2.5 Gyr. We identified peaks of cluster formation at 0.7–0.8, 1.0–1.1, 1.6–1.7 and 2.0–2.1 Gyr, separated by relative quiescent epochs of ∼0.2–0.3 Gyr. We also estimated a radial abundance gradient of −0.08 ± 0.02 , which is consistent with the most recent determinations for the Galactic disc, but no clear evidence for a gradient perpendicular to the Galactic plane is found. 相似文献

Open star clusters from the MWSC (Milky Way Star Clusters) catalogue have been used to determine the Galactic rotation parameters. The circular rotation velocity of the solar neighborhood around the Galactic center has been found from data on more than 2000 clusters of various ages to be V 0 = 236 ± 6 km s?1 for the adopted Galactocentric distance of the Sun R 0 = 8.3 ± 0.2 kpc. The derived angular velocity parameters are Ω 0 = 28.48 ± 0.36 km s?1 kpc?1, Ω’0 = ?3.50 ± 0.08 km s?1 kpc?2, and Ω″0 = 0.331 ± 0.037 km s?1 kpc?3. The influence of the spiral density wave has been detected only in the sample of clusters younger than 50 Myr. For these clusters the amplitudes of the tangential and radial velocity perturbations are f θ = 5.6 ± 1.6 km s?1 and f R = 7.7 ± 1.4 km s?1, respectively; the perturbation wavelengths are λ θ = 2.6 ± 0.5 kpc (i θ = ?11? ± 2?) and λ R = 2.1 ± 0.5 kpc (i R = ?9? ± 2?) for the adopted four-armed model (m = 4). The Sun’s phase in the spiral density wave is (χ⊙)θ = ?62? ± 9? and (χ⊙)R = ?85? ± 10? from the residual tangential and radial velocities, respectively. 相似文献

A study of four open clusters in the direction of the Galactic anticentre (l = 186°, b = +2°) is presented. In a field of 8.32 square degrees proper motions and B magnitudes for about 79 000 stars down to 19.5 were determined on Tautenburg Schmidt plates. For more than 15 500 of them U magnitudes down to 17.3 could be obtained. Additionally, OCA Schmidt plates were used to determine V, R magnitudes in a larger field of 24.45 square degrees for 271 000 stars down to V = 18.2. For stars brighter than V = 15.5 an accuracy of about 1.5 mas/yr has been estimated for proper motions. The rms errors of stellar magnitudes and colour indices are 0.09 – 0.12 mag. Several open clusters have been already known in this direction of the sky, e.g. NGC 2168 or M 35 (C 0605+243), NGC 2158 (C 0604+241) and IC 2157 (C 0601+240). Inspecting the plates and analysing the colour-magnitude diagrams and published data, we could identify an additional anonymous cluster C 0605+242 with a projection on the sky near the centre of M 35 but at a larger distance from the Sun. The cluster membership determination was carried out using information on spatial and proper motion distributions of stars in the field. The colour-magnitude diagrams were derived down to the limiting stellar magnitude. For each cluster the interstellar extinction Av, the diameters of the core and corona, the ages and spatial velocity components (V,W) relative to the LSR in the Y,Z – Galactic directions were determined. The distances to the clusters of 960 pc, 2 600 pc, 2 520 pc and 3 700 pc were obtained for M 35, IC 2157, C 0605+242 and NGC 2158. They show the loci of the clusters in the Local and Perseus spiral arms and at external border of Perseus arm, respectively. 相似文献

A new method to measure the epicycle frequency κ in the Galactic disc is presented. We make use of the large data base on open clusters completed by our group to derive the observed velocity vector (amplitude and direction) of the clusters in the Galactic plane. In the epicycle approximation, this velocity is equal to the circular velocity given by the rotation curve, plus a residual or perturbation velocity, of which the direction rotates as a function of time with the frequency κ. Due to the non-random direction of the perturbation velocity at the birth time of the clusters, a plot of the present-day direction angle of this velocity as a function of the age of the clusters reveals systematic trends from which the epicycle frequency can be obtained. Our analysis considers that the Galactic potential is mainly axis-symmetric, or in other words, that the effect of the spiral arms on the Galactic orbits is small; in this sense, our results do not depend on any specific model of the spiral structure. The values of κ that we obtain provide constraints on the rotation velocity of the disc; in particular, V 0 is found to be 230 ± 15 km s−1 even if the short scale ( R 0 = 7.5 kpc) of the Galaxy is adopted. The measured κ at the solar radius is 43 ± 5 km s−1 kpc −1 . The distribution of initial velocities of open clusters is discussed. 相似文献

Photoelectric, photographic and CCD UBV photometry, spectroscopic observations and star counts are presented for the open cluster Berkeley 58 to examine a possible association with the 4.37 d Cepheid CG Cas. The cluster is difficult to separate from the early-type stars belonging to the Perseus spiral arm, in which it is located, but has reasonably well-defined parameters: an evolutionary age of ∼108 yr, a mean reddening of E ( B − V ) (B0) = 0.70 ± 0.03 s.e. and a distance of 3.03 ± 0.17 kpc ( V 0 − M V = 12.40 ± 0.12 s.d.). CG Cas is a likely cluster coronal member on the basis of radial velocity, and its period increase of +0.170 ± 0.014 s yr−1 and large light amplitude describe a Cepheid in the third crossing of the instability strip lying slightly blueward of strip centre. Its inferred reddening and luminosity are E ( B − V ) = 0.64 ± 0.02 s.e. and 〈 M V 〉=−3.06 ± 0.12 . A possible K supergiant may also be a cluster member. 相似文献

We present CCD photometry in the Washington system C and T1 passbands down to T1 ~ 19.5 magnitudes in the fields of Czernik 26, Czernik 30, and Haffner 11, three poorly studied open clusters located in the third Galactic quadrant. We measured T1 magnitudes and C ? T1 colors for a total of 6472 stars distributed throughout cluster areas of 13.6′ × 13.6′ each. Cluster radii were estimated from star counts in appropriate-sized boxes distributed throughout the entire observed fields. Based on the best fits of isochrones computed by the Padova group to the (C ? T1, T1) color-magnitude diagrams (CMDs), we derived color excesses, heliocentric distances and ages for the three clusters. These are characterized by a relatively small angular size and by a high field star contamination. We performed a firm analysis of the field star contamination of the CMDs and examined different relationships between the position in the Galaxy of known open clusters located within 1 kpc around the three studied ones, their age and their interstellar visual absorption. We confirm previous results in the sense that the closer the cluster birthplace to the Galactic plane, the higher the interstellar visual absorption. We also found that the space velocity dispersion perpendicular to the Galactic plane diminishes as the clusters are younger. The positions, interstellar visual absorptions, ages, and metallicities of the three studied clusters favor the hypothesis that they were not born in the recently discovered Canis major (CMa) dwarf galaxy before it was accreted by the Milky Way. 相似文献

We report on VI charge-coupled device photometry of two fields centred in the region of the open clusters NGC 6404 and 6583 down to V = 22.0 . So far these clusters have never been studied, and we provide for the first time estimates of their fundamental parameters, namely, radial extent, age, distance and reddening. We find that the radius of NGC 6404 is 2.0 arcmin, as previously proposed, while the radius of NGC 6583 is 1.0 arcmin, significantly lower than previous estimates. Both clusters turn out to be of intermediate age (0.5–1.0 Gyr old), and located inside the solar ring, at a Galactocentric distance of about 6.5 kpc. These results make these objects very interesting targets for spectroscopic follow-up to measure their metallicity. In fact, they might allow us to enlarge by more than 1 kpc the baseline of the radial abundance gradient in the Galactic disc towards the Galactic Centre direction. This baseline is currently rather narrow especially for clusters of this age. 相似文献

The proper motions and stellar magnitudes for more than 20 000 stars distributed in areas around eight open clusters in the directions of the Sagittarius-Carina and Perseus spiral arms were used to determine the cluster membership. Both spatial-kinematical and statistical criteria were used for member seletion. The luminosity functions of cluster members were constructed and used for the further data improvement. The safest portions of the luminosity function free both from evolved stars and faint field star contamination were used for mass function construction. The composite mass function was derived from the data on five young clusters with log t < 8.2. A dependence of the mass function slope on the adopted input parameters (mass-luminosity relation and distance scale) and on member selection procedure was tested. The slope was found to vary in a range from 1.36 to 1.80 for lg M/M⊙ between 0.3 and 1.2. A possible relation between the individual MF slopes and cluster ages was indicated. The results are in good agreement with published data. 相似文献
